I Got Together With the Fake Heiress - Chapter 8
In the end, no one knew whether Wen Yunqing or Wen Han had the upper hand.
Wen Yimeng, the person involved, only knew that when she looked in the mirror, her normally obedient long hair had been ruffled into a bird’s nest by the two of them!
Looking at herself in the mirror, Wen Yimeng suddenly felt wronged. Why did I have to be born a few minutes after Wen Yunqing? If I were the older sister, I wouldn’t have to suffer this indignity!
Damn it! One day! I will pull out all of that bad woman Wen Yunqing’s hair!
Bound by her own words, Wen Yimeng could only begrudgingly maintain a fake cousin relationship with Wen Yunqing at school and reluctantly wait for her after class.
It was quickly Friday. To accommodate some boarding students going home, there were only two classes on Friday afternoon, and school officially ended around three o’clock.
“Yimeng, aren’t we going shopping later? Should we bring your cousin along?” Li Ruolan asked.
Wen Yimeng glanced at Wen Yunqing out of the corner of her eye and pouted. “Forget it. We’ll just take a taxi. Don’t worry about her.”
“A taxi?” Li Ruolan raised an eyebrow slightly. Didn’t Wen Yimeng’s driver always take them to the mall before? Why the change today?
“Mhm, let’s go,” Wen Yimeng didn’t feel the need to explain. She quickly packed up and prepared to leave. Since she wasn’t going home with Wen Yunqing, the driver and car were naturally left for her.
Wen Yunqing remained in her seat, leaning sideways against the wall, watching Wen Yimeng and Li Ruolan leave hand-in-hand.
“In what way am I inferior to Li Ruolan?” Wen Yunqing couldn’t help but quietly wonder. She felt a little confused. She looked at her hands, then rubbed her face.
Her height and looks were fine. The only thing she was inferior to Li Ruolan in was her skin tone. Does Yimeng prefer people with lighter skin?
Harboring this small question, Wen Yunqing picked up her school bag, selectively put a few books into it, slung it over her right shoulder with one hand, and prepared to leave school and go home.
She had resigned herself to it. If it was truly an issue with skin tone, she couldn’t change it right away; she could only slowly nourish it back.
Wen Yunqing stopped as she approached the school gate. Following her gaze, she could see Wen Yimeng standing at the gate with a serious expression, seemingly talking to Li Ruolan.
“Didn’t those two people just passing by say they were looking for Zhou Jun?” Wen Yimeng asked.
“I was listening to music. I didn’t notice what they said,” Li Ruolan said, removing her earphones. “Yimeng, my taxi is here. Let’s go.”
But those two people looked familiar. If I remember correctly, those two should be the ones who bullied Zhou Jun last time.
Wen Yimeng hesitated, feeling a bit uneasy. “Sorry, I have to bail on you this time.”
“What are you doing?” Li Ruolan was surprised. “Yimeng, you’re not going to look for Zhou Jun, are you? Maybe those people are Zhou Jun’s friends. You just misheard.”
“Besides, the school is cracking down hard recently. Something like a bunch of people sneaking in like last time definitely won’t happen again,” Li Ruolan said.
“I still want to go check. Sorry,” Wen Yimeng frowned. A large group sneaking in is noticeable, but if only two came, the security guard might not recognize them. “As an apology, the dress you were going to pick up today is on me.”
“Yimeng, we’re friends. Why bring that up! I’m not doing this for money!” Li Ruolan pretended to be angry, but she was overjoyed inside.
She had been saving money for that dress for almost half a year. If Wen Yimeng paid for it, she would save over a hundred thousand yuan.
“This is a matter of principle. I’m the one bailing on you, so buying you a gift is normal,” Wen Yimeng said. “If you see anything suitable for me, just pick it up for me.”
“Alright, I’ll head out then.” Li Ruolan, having secured the dress, was much easier to talk to. “Remember to go home early and be careful.”
Wen Yimeng nodded, watched Li Ruolan get into the car, and then turned back toward the school with a serious face. She recalled the appearance of the two people she had seen earlier and quickened her pace.
That’s right! Those two were definitely among the girls who snuck in last time!
“Hiss—” Wen Yimeng was walking quite fast, and her attention wasn’t focused. She hadn’t gone far before bumping into a human obstacle.
“Sorry… why did you stop me!” Seeing that the person she had bumped into was Wen Yunqing, Wen Yimeng immediately performed a dramatic change of expression.
“I didn’t stop you. You were walking too fast and bumped into me,” Wen Yunqing said truthfully. She had just been standing nearby, secretly listening to their conversation.
“Hmph!” Wen Yimeng knew it was her fault. She simply bypassed Wen Yunqing and walked toward the dormitory building. Because she was in a hurry, she didn’t notice that Wen Yunqing was following close behind her.
Ruihua’s dormitory building was small, very small compared to its other facilities. There were only two dorm buildings, one for boys and one for girls, and each had only three floors. Together, they could house less than sixty students.
The girls’ dormitory was in a somewhat secluded location. It required passing through the library and the teaching building, as well as circling around a small grove of trees to reach the main entrance.
“Why are you following me?” Wen Yimeng only realized she was being followed when she reached the girls’ dorm building.
“Didn’t you say yourself, Yimeng, that we should go together after school?” Since she was discovered, Wen Yunqing simply walked up openly and stood beside Wen Yimeng.
“I overheard a few snippets of your conversation earlier. If Zhou Jun is really in danger, I can help you out,” Wen Yunqing added.
Wen Yimeng shifted half a step away, saying with a serious face, “I’m just going to see Student Zhou about something, not to help her. Don’t overthink it.”
Wen Yunqing nodded cooperatively. “Okay. What floor is Student Zhou on?”
“The seniors are all on the first floor. Zhou Jun lives in the room furthest to the left,” Wen Yimeng said.
It was after school hours, and the dorm supervisor wasn’t in the office. The two easily found the room where Zhou Jun stayed.
Wen Yimeng knocked on the door and called out, “Student Zhou, are you there? I need to talk to you.”
The dorm room door was quickly opened, but the person who came out wasn’t Zhou Jun, but her roommate, a student from the next class who was financially struggling. “Zhou Jun was just called out by someone. She’s not in the room right now.”
“Who called Zhou Jun out?” Wen Yimeng asked.
The girl shook her head. “I haven’t seen them before. They don’t look like they’re from our school.”
Wen Yimeng instinctively frowned and pressed, “Where did they go with Zhou Jun? Do you know which direction they headed?”
The girl hesitated for a moment, then pointed in a direction. That direction led to the small grove of trees they had just passed through. If one cut straight across it, they would reach the boys’ dormitory opposite.
Hearing the girl’s words, Wen Yimeng had a bad feeling. She said nothing and quickly headed in the direction the girl had pointed.
Wen Yunqing also dropped the smile from her face and followed Wen Yimeng expressionlessly. A conversation like that sounded like trouble was brewing.
Sure enough, as they were about to pass through the small grove, they heard a few girls talking. Along with unbearable insults, they heard the sounds of blunt objects striking and muffled groans.
Wen Yimeng immediately sped up and rushed forward. “Stop it right now!”
Hearing Wen Yimeng’s shout, the three people in the grove stopped simultaneously.
Wen Yunqing followed close behind. Upon arrival, she saw Zhou Jun’s foot planted on one girl’s back, and a question mark slowly formed above her head.
What’s going on? Shouldn’t Zhou Jun be the one being bullied? But why is Zhou Jun currently pinning two girls to the ground and hitting them?
“Ahem.” Zhou Jun lightly cleared her throat, withdrew her foot, and subtly concealed the brass knuckles on her hand. “They warned me last week that they’d come looking for trouble today, so I made a few small preparations.”
Seeing this, Wen Yimeng couldn’t help but feel both amused and baffled. It seemed Zhou Jun wasn’t as weak as she thought. After experiencing it once, she was finding ways to make herself stronger.
