I Got Together With the Fake Heiress - Chapter 7
Seeing that Zhang Yao was truly enraged, the two lackeys didn’t dare to delay, especially since their families depended on the Zhang family for a livelihood.
After quietly apologizing to Wen Yunqing, the two boys stepped forward, intending to grab Wen Yunqing’s arms from both sides and restrain her.
“In matters like this, saying sorry is useless,” Wen Yunqing said, deftly dodging their attacks.
Noticing that these two boys didn’t intend to strike hard, Wen Yunqing was quite reasonable. She quickly gave each of them an over-the-shoulder throw, allowing them to lie on the ground and avoid seeking more trouble.
“What do you want?” Seeing Wen Yunqing approaching him, Zhang Yao instinctively looked around for a handy weapon.
“I’m warning you, if you dare to do anything to me, I can have you kicked out of Ruihua tomorrow,” Zhang Yao threatened, grabbing a guitar placed nearby and holding it as a weapon.
“You’re scared,” Wen Yunqing said unhurriedly. “For the sake of us being classmates, as long as you avoid me whenever you see me from now on, I won’t pursue today’s matter.”
Zhang Yao’s face darkened. The spot where he was kicked at noon was still throbbing. He subconsciously looked at the two lackeys lying on the ground, trying to minimize their presence. “You can go ahead and say what you want…”
“My patience is limited. Think carefully before answering me,” Wen Yunqing interrupted Zhang Yao. “If you don’t cooperate, it’s not impossible for me to beat you every time I see you until you submit.”
Zhang Yao’s face was crimson. He swallowed the rest of his harsh words. He was clearly stronger than the person in front of him, so why did he feel such a suppressed sense of fear?
“A good man doesn’t fight women. I’ll let you off today. You can go!” Zhang Yao said, earnestly trying to convince himself: Revenge is a dish best served cold. I came too hastily today and wasn’t prepared. I’ll just swallow my pride and take the loss for now.
“Avoid me whenever you see me?” Wen Yunqing confirmed. She wasn’t too fond of such vague expressions.
Zhang Yao took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and nodded, his face full of resentment. In a few days, I’ll definitely get my revenge!
“Very good. You’ve made the right choice,” Wen Yunqing nodded in satisfaction and walked straight ahead.
Zhang Yao weighed the pros and cons, silently taking a step back with the guitar to clear the path.
Watching Wen Yunqing walk away, a crazy thought flashed through his mind: If I suddenly raised this guitar and ambushed her right now, she probably wouldn’t be prepared, right?
“Oh, right.” Reaching the doorway, Wen Yunqing suddenly stopped and looked back at Zhang Yao. “I still don’t know your name.”
Meeting Wen Yunqing’s gaze, Zhang Yao nervously lowered the guitar and cooperated by saying his name: “Zhang Yao.”
Wen Yunqing nodded. “I’ve noted it down.”
After she left, the music room fell into a brief silence. After about three minutes, Zhang Yao fiercely kicked the guitar.
“Stop playing dead! Get the f*** up!” Once he was sure Wen Yunqing had left, Zhang Yao reverted to his usual arrogant self. “I’m warning you two, forget everything you saw today, understand!”
“What are you talking about, Brother Yao? Nothing happened today, right?” One lackey quickly got up from the floor, playing dumb perfectly.
“Exactly, exactly. We just played basketball a little late today,” the other lackey chimed in quickly, secretly rubbing his butt. “Brother Yao, it’s getting late. Let’s go home.”
Zhang Yao grunted loudly, quite satisfied with their reaction.
Wen Yunqing had already stayed in the classroom for ten minutes longer than necessary, and dealing with Zhang Yao and his group took up more time. By the time she left the school gate and got into the car, she was more than twenty minutes later than Wen Yimeng.
“Sister, why are you just getting here? Uncle Li and I have been waiting for you for a long time,” Wen Yimeng asked, feigning concern. “Did Sister get lost? The classroom isn’t that far from the gate.”
Wen Yunqing was confused. My darling Yimeng said she hated me in the classroom earlier, but now she’s warmly calling me “Sister” again?
“I wasn’t lost. I ran into a little trouble,” Wen Yunqing replied, her gaze fixed on Wen Yimeng’s face. “Yimeng, what you said earlier was just angry talk, right?”
“…” Wen Yimeng was speechless. What is wrong with Wen Yunqing? Can’t she tell that my words just now were meant to imply she was deliberately stalling?
“It’s my fault. I should selectively interpret things,” seeing Wen Yimeng remain silent, Wen Yunqing quickly completed her self-interpretation. Girls are often contradictory in what they say and mean.
Wen Yimeng had no idea what Wen Yunqing was thinking, and she selectively ignored Wen Yunqing’s last two sentences, continuing to maintain their false sisterly affection in front of the driver.
“Next time after school, why don’t you call me, Sister? That way, even if you run into trouble, we can solve it together,” Wen Yimeng said. “That way, Uncle Li won’t have to wait too long.”
“Thank you for thinking of me, Miss Yimeng. My duty is just to drive the two misses to and from school,” Uncle Li, the driver, was an honest, middle-aged man. “The two misses don’t need to rush for me. Just follow your own rhythm.”
“It’s fine. If we waste a little less time, we can get home earlier,” Wen Yimeng said with a smile, giving Wen Yunqing a look of provocation. “Sister, what do you think?”
Surely you heard it this time. I’m subtly telling on you! If you’re late again, it means you don’t want to go home early!
Wen Yunqing nodded in approval. “I’ve noted it. Next time, I’ll go with you, Yimeng. That way, it’s the best of both worlds.” It satisfies me and doesn’t waste time.
Hearing her words, Wen Yimeng forced a polite smile that still managed to look strained.
Wen Yunqing, you are really something. You can really act!
Uncle Li, like Wen Yunqing, didn’t realize Wen Yimeng had hidden meanings in her words. Seeing the two young misses getting along, a relieved smile spread across his face.
After dinner, Mother Wen sat next to Wen Yunqing and asked caringly, “Yunqing, how do you feel about the new school?”
Mother Wen was a very emotional person. Before Wen Yunqing returned, her heart and eyes were solely focused on Wen Yimeng. Even after knowing Wen Yimeng wasn’t her biological daughter, her attitude towards her hadn’t changed.
Mother Wen felt some guilt toward Wen Yunqing. When she brought her back, Mother Wen had worried that doing so would make Wen Yimeng feel awkward, and for a moment, she even thought it might be better to just leave things as they were.
Of course, after meeting Wen Yunqing and spending a few days with her, her mind changed. Seeing the features on Wen Yunqing’s face that resembled her own, Mother Wen also tried to show maternal love to her biological daughter.
“It’s not bad. The classroom is big, and the teachers are professional,” Wen Yunqing said truthfully. “It’s much better than my old school.”
“That’s good,” Mother Wen sighed in relief. “I was worried you wouldn’t be used to the new school.”
Wen Yunqing glanced at Mother Wen out of the corner of her eye. Seeing her expression full of concern, she quickly averted her gaze. “It’s fine. Since Yimeng is there, if I run into any problems, I’ll ask her for help.”
“Good. It’s great as long as you two sisters get along,” Mother Wen said, her expression quite relieved.
The mother and daughter’s interaction was very harmonious. Whatever Mother Wen asked, Wen Yunqing answered truthfully.
However, this scene, viewed by Wen Yimeng, only brought a feeling of inner bitterness.
In her view, it should have been her sitting on the sofa, receiving the affectionate care. Instead, Wen Yunqing had taken her place, leaving her to sit silently far away and watch.
“Yimeng, tell me honestly, is Wen Yunqing bullying you?” Wen Han walked over at some point and asked with a serious face.
Wen Yimeng pulled out of her thoughts, hesitated for a moment, and finally shook her head. “No. We’re getting along… alright at school.”
“Really?” Wen Han’s face was etched with suspicion. “You don’t need to worry. No matter what, I’ll always be your brother. If you’re being wronged, just tell me.”
Wen Yimeng continued to shake her head. “Brother, Wen Yunqing really hasn’t bullied me. If she really did, I would tell you immediately.”
“Alright, but you must remember that your brother will always be your support,” Wen Han said, touching Wen Yimeng’s head. He had been taught to protect his sister since childhood, and he had been doing it for over ten years since she was born. It was a habit ingrained in his bones.
Wen Yunqing and Mother Wen were chatting pleasantly, but upon seeing Wen Han’s hand resting on Wen Yimeng’s head, Wen Yunqing unconsciously frowned.
“Mom, it’s getting late. Why don’t you go to bed early?” Wen Yunqing said, glancing intermittently towards Wen Yimeng’s direction.
Mother Wen nodded. “That’s a good idea. You all should go to bed early too.”
Watching Mother Wen get up and leave, Wen Yunqing strode over to Wen Han and grabbed his hand directly.
“Wen Han, men and women should not touch intimately,” Wen Yunqing said with a straight face. “You should understand this principle, right?”
“Shouldn’t touch intimately?” Wen Han clicked his tongue, forcefully shaking off Wen Yunqing’s hand. “I was just touching my sister’s head. What’s the problem with that?”
“Exactly! Brother was just touching my head. Why make such a fuss?” Before Wen Yunqing could speak, Wen Yimeng quickly answered, immediately taking Wen Han’s side.
“Touching a sister’s head is a matter of course, then?” Wen Yunqing asked.
“Of course,” Wen Han gave a definite answer.
“And Yimeng, do you think so too?” Wen Yunqing tilted her head slightly, looking at Wen Yimeng.
“Yes!” Wen Yimeng slightly lifted her chin, meeting Wen Yunqing’s gaze without fear. In her heart, Wen Han was her brother, and she had a clear conscience.
“I’m telling you, don’t use…” Before Wen Yimeng could finish, she noticed a shadow fall over her head.
Wen Yunqing’s hand was on her head, and she started affectionately stroking her hair.
“In that case, for me, as an older sister, stroking your head should also be a matter of course, right?” Wen Yunqing said, a slight smile playing on her lips.
