I Got A Girlfriend After Losing My Memory (Transmigration) - Chapter 5
Tang Fuzhi was taken aback. She looked up at Tao Ran, utterly surprised that she could be so… sappy?
How could I have used such a cheesy label?
It didn’t suit her style at all.
Could it really be as Tao Ran said? Had she loved her so much that she’d even changed her usual contact naming habits?
Lost in thought, Tang Fuzhi didn’t notice Tao Ran tucking the blanket around her. But the unfamiliar surroundings made her instinctively grab Tao Ran’s hand again just as she was about to pull away.
Tao Ran chuckled softly, recalling what Tang Fuzhi had said before falling asleep that afternoon. She reached out with her other hand and placed it over the back of Tang Fuzhi’s hand, her skin still warm from her bath.
“Don’t worry,” she murmured. “I’m not going anywhere. I’ll stay here with you.”
She loved seeing that look of dependence on Tang Fuzhi’s face.
Tang Fuzhi timidly withdrew her hand, still feeling a little embarrassed about bothering Tao Ran. Yet deep down, Tao Ran’s words filled her with a secret sense of satisfaction and security.
The feeling of being cherished was something entirely new to her.
But she wasn’t sleepy; she was lying in bed simply because she was exhausted. She hadn’t exercised in ages, and even taking a bath had drained her completely.
Remembering how the nurse had addressed Tao Ran, she figured Tao Ran must be busy with work. Besides, Tao Ran had already been with her for so long. It felt wrong to keep bothering her.
“If you have work, you can go ahead and take care of it. I’ll be fine playing on my phone by myself.”
The smile on Tao Ran’s lips faltered. Though she knew Tang Fuzhi was thinking of her, she still hated being pushed away.
No matter the reason.
Tang Fuzhi watched Tao Ran get up, assuming she was actually going to work. Even though she had told Tao Ran to leave, a pang of disappointment struck her when Tao Ran actually did as she said.
What kind of work is more important than your girlfriend?!
Stupid Tao Ran!
But instead of leaving, Tao Ran walked to the foot of the bed and lifted the thin blanket covering Tang Fuzhi.
With a whoosh, the blanket flew up, creating a gust of air that exposed Tang Fuzhi’s slender legs and delicate, pink-tinged ankles.
Startled by Tao Ran’s sudden movement, Tang Fuzhi instinctively recoiled, only to have Tao Ran seize her ankle.
Tao Ran’s warm hand gripped Tang Fuzhi’s ankle tightly, a place no one had ever touched before, sending a ticklish sensation through her.
Tang Fuzhi tried to pull away, but Tao Ran not only refused to release her, she abruptly hiked up Tang Fuzhi’s pant leg, exposing her straight, shapely legs to the air.
“What are you doing?” Tang Fuzhi asked, her voice trembling. Unable to break free, she could only voice her growing panic.
The unfamiliar surroundings and Tao Ran’s sudden, strange behavior filled Tang Fuzhi with unease.
Remembering how the nurse had addressed Tao Ran and praised her so effusively, Tang Fuzhi feared that even if Tao Ran did something to her, no one would believe her. After all, Tao Ran’s public image was that of the perfect, devoted girlfriend. Who would believe such a person could harm her partner?
In those few seconds, Tang Fuzhi’s mind raced. The worst thing one can do is scare oneself. Though Tao Ran hadn’t done anything yet, Tang Fuzhi’s imagination was already running wild.
Her cheeks, which had finally regained a faint blush from the bath, turned deathly pale again. Her clear amber eyes were now filled with anxiety and fear.
Sensing Tang Fuzhi’s apprehension, Tao Ran’s gaze darkened slightly.
For the first time, she wondered if amnesia was entirely a good thing.
At least, the Tang Fuzhi before her amnesia would never have looked at her with such wary eyes.
Tao Ran didn’t explain. Instead, she placed her warm hand on Tang Fuzhi’s calf.
“You’ve been lying down for too long. Your muscles might have atrophied a bit, which is why you feel so weak when you walk.”
Her fingers were as strong as her arms, and her massage technique looked remarkably professional. As a tingling sensation spread through Tang Fuzhi’s calf, it was both uncomfortable and strangely soothing.
Feeling Tao Ran’s skilled touch, Tang Fuzhi finally relaxed her guard, immediately feeling guilty for having doubted her.
During the silence, the stimulation from her calf traveled to her brain. After a long moment, Tang Fuzhi murmured, “I’m sorry.”
Tao Ran paused her massage. She had been a little annoyed that Tang Fuzhi didn’t trust her, but when she looked up and saw Tang Fuzhi’s pitiful expression, all her anger vanished.
It’s not her fault, Tao Ran thought. She’s just forgotten everything. It’s natural for her to be wary of a stranger touching her like this.
This is my fault. I should have explained beforehand. I scared her so much.
As the tingling sensation returned to her calf, Tang Fuzhi no longer felt like enjoying it. Faced with Tao Ran’s silence, she felt utterly helpless.
Tao Ran was the only person Tang Fuzhi felt familiar with in this place. According to what Tao Ran had said, their relationship had been good before, and Tang Fuzhi didn’t want to hurt her.
Tang Fuzhi’s pale hand stopped Tao Ran’s massage. She met Tao Ran’s clear, black-and-white eyes. “I, I just…” Just what?
It was only then that Tang Fuzhi realized she had no idea how to explain herself to Tao Ran.
Tao Ran took Tang Fuzhi’s hand. Her grip wasn’t soft like Tang Fuzhi’s; it had a firm strength. Sitting beside Tang Fuzhi, Tao Ran’s rosy lips curved into a bittersweet smile. “You’ve just woken up and can’t remember anything. It’s good to be cautious, but…”
She leaned closer, her clean, cedar-scented breath brushing Tang Fuzhi’s cheek, a reassuring scent.
“Tang Tang, try to trust me. I won’t hurt you.”
Tao Ran leaned in, took Tang Fuzhi’s hand, and pressed it against her left breast. Beneath the soft skin, Tang Fuzhi felt the steady thump-thump-thump of Tao Ran’s heart.
Obeying her heart’s desire, Tao Ran pressed her lips against Tang Fuzhi’s soft, pink lips, just a simple touch. She didn’t deepen the kiss, yet she seemed to taste a hint of sweetness.
At the same moment, Tang Fuzhi heard her own heart racing, its rhythm syncing with Tao Ran’s.
Though she had kissed Tao Ran during their first meeting, it had been a fleeting touch on her forehead, leaving only a faint impression.
She had vaguely sensed that beneath Tao Ran’s icy exterior, her lips were remarkably soft, and her scent was intoxicating.
This time was different. Her lips truly felt that softness, like colorful cotton candy, fluffy and yielding. She wondered if they tasted as sweet as cotton candy too.
They were so close, Tang Fuzhi’s eyes wide open, the proximity allowing her to see Tao Ran’s face with perfect clarity. She’s so beautiful.
Even without her memories, Tang Fuzhi knew with absolute certainty that Tao Ran’s features perfectly aligned with her aesthetic preferences.
The familiar scent of cedarwood, emanating from Tao Ran, filled her nostrils, as if they had known each other for ages. Though her memories were gone, her body’s instincts remembered.
Tang Fuzhi’s eyelids fluttered open, her gaze meeting Tao Ran’s. Those beautiful, slightly upturned peach blossom eyes reflected a tiny version of herself, giving Tang Fuzhi the illusion that she was Tao Ran’s entire world.
Her heart pounded faster, a faint blush coloring her cheeks.
I can’t let this go on, Tang Fuzhi thought. She pressed lightly against Tao Ran’s chest, easily pushing her away.
