I Got A Girlfriend After Losing My Memory (Transmigration) - Chapter 4
Although Tao Ran had helped Tang Fuzhi bathe before, Tang Fuzhi had been unconscious at the time.
This was essentially her first conscious bath, and she took it with meticulous care, determined to cleanse every inch of her body thoroughly.
Remembering Tao Ran’s words from earlier that afternoon, Tang Fuzhi lowered her gaze to the snowy expanse between her breasts. A crimson mole sat perfectly centered there, deepening the blush on her cheeks.
Through that tiny gap, Tao Ran could barely make out the scene, catching only a fleeting glimpse of the landscape. Yet even that was enough to stir her heart.
As Tang Fuzhi smoothed the milky white shower gel over her delicate arm, the act of lathering gradually obscured the arm’s original appearance.
After a while, she submerged her arm in the water. When she withdrew it, her tender skin glowed with a faint pink blush, a delicate white tinged with rose, utterly captivating.
Tao Ran’s gaze deepened. If only those pink marks were ones I had left, she thought.
Then Tang Fuzhi moved her arm, seemingly reaching down to wash herself. From that angle, Tao Ran couldn’t see what she was doing, but even without seeing, she knew exactly what the view down there looked like.
After all, for the past three months, Tao Ran had washed every inch of Tang Fuzhi’s body.
Perhaps the water was too hot. The faint steam, mingling with Tang Fuzhi’s subtle white tea fragrance, enveloped Tao Ran, making her feel flushed.
She abruptly turned away, struggling to suppress her carnal thoughts.
At first, Tang Fuzhi had felt a little embarrassed bathing in front of Tao Ran. But as the warm water enveloped her, relaxing her completely, she gradually grew comfortable with it.
Just as she began to relax, Tao Ran suddenly turned away. Tang Fuzhi instinctively asked, “What’s wrong?”
Tao Ran couldn’t just tell Tang Fuzhi she could actually see a little, so she quickly made up an excuse to leave the heart-pounding bathroom. “I’ll go get your phone.”
Tang Fuzhi didn’t think much of it and nodded. Then she remembered Tao Ran was covering her eyes and had her back turned, so she couldn’t see. “Mm,” she replied.
After closing the bathroom door, Tao Ran took a deep breath outside before walking away. She called someone to have Tang Fuzhi’s phone delivered.
The assistant was quick, and since the hospital wasn’t far from home, the phone arrived before Tang Fuzhi finished her shower.
Tao Ran unlocked the phone. The password was the date they first met, and Tang Fuzhi hadn’t changed it in all this time.
This was Tang Fuzhi’s personal phone, which she’d been using for over a year, so Tao Ran needed to make sure there was nothing inside that could expose their relationship.
After a thorough search, Tao Ran deleted some potentially compromising chat logs. Fortunately, their relationship had always been good, so only a small portion needed to be removed.
Opening the photo album again, Tao Ran realized Tang Fuzhi wasn’t much of a photographer. The few pictures inside were all of Tao Ran, a realization that made the corners of Tao Ran’s lips involuntarily curl upward.
After confirming everything was in order, Tao Ran glanced at the note Tang Fuzhi had left for her. She bit her lip, and, driven by a selfish impulse, changed “Tao Ran” to “My Beloved Girlfriend.”
Only then did she put her phone down, turning off the screen.
Just then, Tang Fuzhi’s soft voice drifted from inside: “Tao Ran? Are you still out there?”
Tao Ran replied with a quick acknowledgment, covered her eyes, and stepped inside.
Standing by the bathtub, Tao Ran could see Tang Fuzhi’s feet through the narrow gap. They were pink and tender from the bath, like pristine seashells cradling delicate pearls. As Tang Fuzhi moved closer, the steam from her body enveloped Tao Ran.
After finally getting dressed, Tang Fuzhi reached out and gently removed the towel covering Tao Ran’s eyes. She saw Tao Ran’s cheeks were flushed, mostly hidden by the towel. Tang Fuzhi touched the back of her hand to Tao Ran’s cheek.
It was a little warm.
Tang Fuzhi looked puzzled. “Are you feeling unwell?”
Why are your cheeks so flushed?
Tao Ran lowered her gaze, catching sight of the body that had recently stirred her desire now hidden beneath a blue-and-white striped shirt. For a moment, she couldn’t decide whether to feel relieved or slightly disappointed. “I’m fine,” she said.
As if afraid Tang Fuzhi would press further, she quickly handed her the phone from her pocket. “This is your phone.”
Tang Fuzhi took the phone. Modern smartphones unlock with fingerprint or password authentication. She pressed her thumb to the sensor, and the device automatically unlocked.
She looked up at Tao Ran, surprised. “This is my phone?”
“What’s wrong?” Tao Ran asked, her heart tightening. Did she find something I didn’t delete? she wondered, but her expression remained calm and composed.
Tang Fuzhi closed her eyes, recalling the dream she’d had when she first woke up.
The car crash, the flowing blood, the pain—it had all felt so real.
She opened her eyes again and smiled. “I thought my phone had been destroyed in the accident.”
She couldn’t remember the exact details of what had happened. Perhaps the phone had simply been lucky enough to survive undamaged.
Tao Ran’s smiling face froze, panic rising in her heart. She never imagined Tang Fuzhi would remember anything from the car accident.
When did she start remembering?
She’s been awake for less than 24 hours, and her memory is already returning?
At this rate, will she remember everything soon?
Countless questions raced through Tao Ran’s mind, but she forced herself to remain calm, answering, “You didn’t have your phone with you that day. You left it at home.”
Tang Fuzhi felt something was off. Who goes out without their phone these days?
But she had amnesia, so she couldn’t remember what she was like before.
Maybe I didn’t like taking my phone out before the accident, or maybe I just forgot it that day.
Tao Ran carefully observed Tang Fuzhi’s expression, feigning casualness as she asked, “Have you remembered everything from before?”
As soon as the words left her lips, she could hear her heart pounding in her ears. Even when she’d fought to reclaim her mother’s company, she hadn’t felt this nervous.
She was afraid. Afraid Tang Fuzhi would remember and leave her again, just like before.
Fortunately, Tang Fuzhi shook her head. “When I woke up, I felt like I’d had a dream about the car accident.”
Tao Ran secretly breathed a sigh of relief, taking Tang Fuzhi’s hand as they left the bathroom. “Don’t worry. I’ve already had people investigate who was behind this.”
But the accident was indeed strange.
According to the surveillance footage, it appeared to have been caused by brake failure.
After realizing he’d hit someone, the driver used a phone without a SIM card to call emergency services before fleeing. Due to the brake failure, the car plunged into the sea, and his body has yet to be recovered.
It seemed like an accident, yet it was filled with eerie inconsistencies.
Tang Fuzhi looked up at Tao Ran in surprise. Up close, she could see Tao Ran’s delicate profile even more clearly: her slightly upturned nose, her full, rosy lips, and her fair skin that looked flawless even without makeup. Only faint dark circles under her eyes betrayed her fatigue.
“Someone tried to kill me?”
She had always believed it was an accident. Could it really have been a deliberate plot?
Tao Ran didn’t deny it, knowing it might frighten Tang Fuzhi. But with the mastermind still at large, it was better for Tang Fuzhi to be vigilant.
Tang Fuzhi wasn’t afraid, just felt a strange sense of unreality. Though she had no memories of her past, she instinctively felt that murder was something far removed from her life.
If I can’t figure it out, I won’t dwell on it, she thought. Still groggy from waking up, she let Tao Ran help her lie back in bed and glanced at her phone’s contacts.
Among the contacts, all meticulously labeled with full names, some even including year, major, and name, one stood out: “My Beloved Girlfriend.”
