I Got A Girlfriend After Losing My Memory (Transmigration) - Chapter 35
Tao Ran blinked, a flicker of confusion in her eyes. “Other girls? What other girls?”
Seeing Tao Ran still denying it, the anger Tang Fuzhi had been suppressing since last night surged to her head.
She stormed into the living room without even putting on her shoes. Tao Ran quickly caught up, scooping her up in a horizontal carry. “You’ll catch a cold walking barefoot,” she said, her voice tinged with exasperation.
The young woman was light, and Tao Ran’s regular workouts made carrying her effortless.
“Want to go to the living room? I’ll carry you there,” Tao Ran murmured, her gaze fixed on Tang Fuzhi. The young woman’s cheeks puffed out in anger, making her look like a little dolphin, her amber eyes round and bright.
Reaching the living room, Tao Ran gently set Tang Fuzhi down on the sofa. Only then did she notice her clothes from the previous day, carelessly tossed on the floor. And…
Tao Ran reached down and picked up the shirt, examining it closely before turning to Tang Fuzhi.
If she wasn’t mistaken, that gray mark on the fabric looked like a footprint.
Tang Fuzhi, only remembering what she’d done yesterday after seeing the shirt, instinctively looked away, a hint of guilt flashing across her face.
But she quickly turned back, glaring at Tao Ran, hands on her hips, her voice defiant. “So what if I stepped on it?!”
She’d taken a late-night flight just to see Tao Ran, only to find her drunk, reeking of alcohol, and smelling of someone else’s perfume.
Tao Ran patted the shirt, her eyes crinkling with amusement as she indulged the younger woman. “It’s just a shirt,” she said gently. “Stepped on or not, I’m not angry anymore.”
Though Tang Fuzhi looked adorable when she was angry, Tao Ran knew that getting worked up wasn’t good for her health.
Tang Fuzhi shoved the shirt’s collar under Tao Ran’s nose, her brow furrowed, as if demanding an explanation. “Smell it yourself.”
Though puzzled, Tao Ran complied. She sniffed the fabric, her nostrils flaring slightly. Even after a night had passed, the lingering smell of alcohol remained strong, with a faint trace of perfume mixed in.
Familiar, yet unfamiliar.
Tang Fuzhi, having caught the scent, tilted her head even higher, her voice sharp and demanding, “I want a reasonable explanation.”
She had expected Tao Ran to offer one immediately, but Tao Ran remained silent for a moment.
Tang Fuzhi swallowed hard, a flicker of disbelief crossing her eyes.
She had never truly doubted Tao Ran. Though their time together had been brief since her amnesia, she had already confirmed they had known each other for four years before her memory loss.
In less than two weeks, she had visited Tao Ran’s company, met her grandfather, and even received a family heirloom.
Tang Fuzhi might have lost her memories, but she wasn’t a fool. She could sense the connection between them.
So when she smelled that unfamiliar perfume, she had considered many possibilities, but never once imagined Tao Ran betraying her.
Her anger stemmed more from Tao Ran’s carelessness. As someone with a girlfriend, she should have been more cautious. It was one thing to be touched by a stranger, but to bring that stranger’s scent home and let Tang Fuzhi smell it? That was unforgivable.
As Tao Ran’s silence stretched on, Tang Fuzhi’s eyes began to redden, her nose stung, and her throat tightened. She forced out the words, “Do you… do you really have… another girl?”
Though she did have a bit of a crush on Tao Ran, and though Tao Ran was the only person in the world who felt familiar to her, Tang Fuzhi wasn’t the type to take defeat lying down.
Tang Fuzhi tilted her head back, forcing her eyes wide open to keep the tears from spilling over.
If I’m going to leave, I’ll do it with some dignity.
She slid off the sofa, her bare feet landing on the icy floor. Before she could take two steps, Tao Ran had scooped her back up into her arms and settled her back on the sofa.
Tao Ran held her close, burying her face in Tang Fuzhi’s neck, inhaling the faint white tea scent of her hair. She murmured, “What’s that little head of yours been imagining this time? I never said I wouldn’t tell you.”
There was nothing particularly secretive about it, really. Tao Ran had simply attended the Huo Family’s coming-of-age ceremony for Senior President Huo’s granddaughter last night.
When Young Miss Huo passed by her, she had accidentally tripped. Tao Ran had instinctively wanted to step aside, but considering she was there to ask Old Master Huo for a favor, she forced herself to resist the urge and helped the girl up.
The real reason she hadn’t mentioned it was to keep Tang Fuzhi from getting too involved with or learning too much about the Huo Family.
Tang Fuzhi’s act of pushing her toward Huo Yuan remained a thorn in Tao Ran’s heart.
Having received a reasonable explanation, Tang Fuzhi sniffled and reluctantly considered herself soothed.
Tao Ran curled her index finger and gently scratched the tip of the girl’s nose, chuckling softly, “Such a big girl, why are you crying?”
The girl looked beautiful when she cried, her eyes glistening with tears, appearing utterly pitiful, the rims of her eyes flushed crimson, making one almost want to prolong her tears.
Tao Ran’s gaze darkened slightly, involuntarily recalling the flowers blooming atop the snow-capped mountain last night. Her tongue traced the sharp edges of her teeth, as if lingering there was still the girl’s milky scent.
Tang Fuzhi abruptly pushed Tao Ran away, meeting her puzzled gaze with a delicate, coquettish voice, “You’re squeezing me too hard!”
At first, Tao Ran didn’t understand. But as her gaze slowly drifted downward, realization dawned.
Tang Fuzhi wasn’t wearing a bra, and it was quite obvious.
Tao Ran leaned closer, reaching out as if to take a look, but Tang Fuzhi hastily covered her chest and retreated two steps to the other side of the sofa.
“What are you doing?”
The girl’s guarded posture amused Tao Ran. She said gently, “Let me see if you’re hurt.”
“No way!”
Tao Ran’s smile faded, replaced by a solemn expression. To anyone unaware of the situation, it might have seemed like a volcano was about to erupt. “A girl’s delicate areas are so sensitive. Last night, I was drunk. What if I accidentally hurt you and left a scar?”
She was lying to her.
Taking advantage of Tang Fuzhi’s amnesia and complete lack of understanding, she was trying to scare her.
In truth, Tao Ran had only been a bit too rough last night. She hadn’t actually injured the girl; a few days of rest would be enough.
But clearly, the girl had fallen for her deception.
Tang Fuzhi recalled the red, swollen mark on her chest when she’d looked in the mirror last night. It had looked quite frightening. She stared blankly at Tao Ran, her voice trembling with a hint of tears. “Wh-what should I do, Tao Ran? I don’t want a scar.”
Tao Ran stroked the girl’s hair, her voice gentle and reassuring. “With me here, you definitely won’t get a scar. But you need to cooperate too, okay?”
When the girl nodded in agreement, Tao Ran smiled inwardly.
Tang Fuzhi tugged at Tao Ran’s hem, her soft, sweet voice tinged with a hint of grievance. “Let’s go back to the room. I don’t want to stay out here.”
Even though the living room was empty, she felt deeply insecure in such a vast, open space.
It was a small request, and Tao Ran naturally couldn’t refuse.
Back in the bedroom, Tao Ran reached out to lift the girl’s skirt, but Tang Fuzhi stopped her.
A blush crept across the girl’s cheeks as she looked up with pleading amber eyes. Tao Ran’s heart melted at the sight. In that sweet, honeyed voice, she said, “Help me get some underwear.”
She was wearing only this dress. To check her chest, she’d have to take it off, which would essentially leave her naked.
Tang Fuzhi bit her lip, still hoping for one last chance to resist.
Tao Ran chuckled softly and nodded, not refusing.
Tang Fuzhi’s suitcase was in the living room. Tao Ran walked over and picked out a white lace-trimmed one. She preferred simple styles.
Tang Fuzhi’s earlobes burned crimson, and she lowered her head even further, wishing she could disappear into a hole in the ground.
When the white fabric appeared before her eyes, Tang Fuzhi snatched it quickly and silently put it on under her loose dress. Only then did she begin to cooperate with Tao Ran’s examination.
Tao Ran’s eyes hadn’t left Tang Fuzhi since she first clutched at her dress.
As the dress slowly slipped off, Tang Fuzhi’s slender legs and soft abdomen came into view. The bruises from the previous night had faded slightly, but they still looked horrifying.
Tao Ran’s gaze darkened. The sight of her sharply defined fingers made Tang Fuzhi tremble, and she instinctively grabbed Tao Ran’s hem, a reflexive gesture born of dependence.
The girl’s voice was soft and pleading, utterly pitiful.
Tao Ran took a deep breath and reached out with feigned professionalism, pretending to carefully examine Tang Fuzhi’s injuries.
Tang Fuzhi bit her lower lip, her eyes rimmed with red as she suppressed the urge to tell Tao Ran to stop. Her body began to feel warm.
She unconsciously slowed her breathing, her gaze fixed on Tao Ran’s movements. The other woman’s serious expression only made Tang Fuzhi feel more embarrassed. At the same time, her heart felt strangely itchy, like she wanted to scratch it, but no matter how she tried, it didn’t feel right.
This was an entirely new sensation for her.
Finally, the warm hand withdrew. Tang Fuzhi secretly exhaled in relief, gulping in air.
After a long moment, she looked up at Tao Ran with teary eyes. “Will it leave a scar?”
The young girl, after all, cared about her appearance. Tao Ran’s scare had truly convinced her.
Tang Fuzhi didn’t suspect Tao Ran’s motives in the slightest. Tao Ran pressed her lips together, continuing to play her part with a serious expression. “It’s fine. Just apply some ointment, and it’ll be fine.”
The anxiety that had been gripping Tang Fuzhi finally eased.
Tao Ran sent a quick text to He Ruo before scooping the girl up to wash her face.
Startled by the sudden lift, Tang Fuzhi instinctively wrapped her arms around Tao Ran’s neck. Her chest pressed against Tao Ran’s upper body, and when she felt a slight pain, she quickly loosened her grip, creating a small space between them.
“Let’s get you washed up first,” Tao Ran said.
Tang Fuzhi struggled, her legs kicking. “Let me put some clothes on first.”
As if just remembering, Tao Ran dressed Tang Fuzhi. But the moment Tao Ran tried to pick her up again, Tang Fuzhi slipped out of her arms, put on her slippers, and tilted her chin defiantly.
“I can walk myself.”
Tao Ran couldn’t help but smile, a mix of amusement and exasperation.
He Ruo was quick, delivering lunch and the ointment promptly.
Seeing the fragrant and colorful meal, Tang Fuzhi finally felt a pang of hunger. She patted her flat stomach and glanced at her phone.
