I Got A Girlfriend After Losing My Memory (Transmigration) - Chapter 16
This time, Tang Fuzhi no longer needed a wheelchair.
When Tang Fuzhi arrived at the hospital, Zheng Xiaoxiao’s eyes lit up. As she began the examination, she couldn’t resist teasing, “Dressed up so beautifully! Are you going on a date after this?”
Her surprise was understandable. For the past three months, Zheng Xiaoxiao had only seen Tang Fuzhi in hospital gowns, looking pale and weak despite her natural beauty.
Today, Tang Fuzhi wore a white square-necked top that revealed her delicate collarbones, paired with a deep green maxi skirt that accentuated her slender waist. Her long hair was styled in an updo, adding a touch of feminine sophistication. She exuded an air of mature elegance, and her usually pale lips were now vibrant with lipstick, giving her a healthy glow.
Tang Fuzhi instinctively lowered her head, feeling self-conscious about dressing like this in front of others for the first time. She pursed her lips and asked softly, “Does it look good? Tao Ran picked it out for me.”
After spending a week together, she’d realized Tao Ran was particularly enthusiastic about styling her.
Tao Ran had personally chosen her outfit, styled her hair, and even applied the same shade of lipstick she wore. Tao Ran’s reasoning was simple: “This way, we won’t have to worry about the colors clashing.”
Hmph, Tang Fuzhi thought, she just wants to make kissing easier.
Don’t think I don’t know.
Seeing Tang Fuzhi’s slightly bashful expression, Zheng Xiaoxiao chuckled inwardly. Looks like Tang Fuzhi is settling into the “girlfriend” role quite well, not suspecting a thing, she thought, silently relieved. “It looks beautiful. President Tao has always had excellent taste.”
After a thorough examination by medical professionals using specialized equipment, it was confirmed that Tang Fuzhi was recovering well. All her vital signs were within normal ranges, finally allowing Tao Ran to relax considerably.
Leaving the hospital, Tang Fuzhi gazed at the azure sky, feeling as if she could taste freedom.
Though Tao Ran had been incredibly kind to her, this kindness only added to Tao Ran’s workload, leaving Tang Fuzhi feeling somewhat guilty.
The thought that Tao Ran would be returning to work tomorrow brought her even greater relief.
As Tang Fuzhi drifted into her own thoughts, she felt a warmth on her hand. She instinctively turned to look at Tao Ran, whose clear eyes sparkled with a hint of amusement.
Tao Ran gently squeezed her hand, her fingers playfully scratching Tang Fuzhi’s palm, making it tickle.
Confused by the gesture, Tang Fuzhi glared at her.
Tao Ran, unfazed, maintained her smile and whispered, “Want to go out and have some fun?”
Go out and have fun!
Tang Fuzhi’s eyes lit up. She blurted out, afraid Tao Ran might change her mind, “Yes!”
Due to muscle atrophy in her legs, she had spent most of the past week cooped up at home, feeling bored. Even when she ventured out, it was only for short walks around the neighborhood.
Throughout the drive, Tang Fuzhi was unusually animated, pressing her face against the car window to gaze at the scenery. Even the ordinary streets and trees seemed extraordinarily beautiful, colored by her joyful mood.
Tao Ran, caught up in Tang Fuzhi’s excitement, patted her head and rolled up the car window. “Don’t stick your head out. It’s dangerous.”
Tang Fuzhi, in high spirits, didn’t argue, her eyes glued to the scenery outside. Anyone who didn’t know better might have thought she’d just been released from prison.
“So happy?”
Tang Fuzhi nodded vigorously, afraid Tao Ran might think she wasn’t enjoying herself.
She was incredibly happy! She could take her out more often!
But…
“Why did you suddenly decide to take me out?”
She hadn’t even mentioned wanting to go out.
Tao Ran rested her chin on her hand, her gaze softening. “Zheng Xiaoxiao reminded me.”
“Huh?”
How could she not know? The three of them had been together the whole time. Doctor Zheng hadn’t said anything about that.
Tao Ran gently tapped her head. “She asked, ‘Dressed up so nicely, are you going on a date after the checkup?’ Come to think of it, we haven’t been on a proper date since you woke up.”
Strictly speaking, they’d never actually dated as a couple.
Even though she’d deceived Tang Fuzhi, Tao Ran genuinely wanted to be with her and felt she needed to make up for all the things couples typically do.
Having already skipped the “courtship” phase, she couldn’t let any other experiences fall by the wayside.
The amusement park was quite a distance from the hospital, and the journey took over an hour.
Since it was a weekday, the park wasn’t crowded, and most rides had no queues.
Tang Fuzhi stood in the shade of a tree, waiting for Tao Ran, her eyes wide with curiosity as she observed the world around her.
On weekdays, there were few adults or children; the most common sight was young couples.
Tang Fuzhi watched the couples flirt and tease each other with fascination. Girls clung to their boyfriends’ arms, blushing and nestling into their chests after a playful remark.
Though their genders differed, she vaguely sensed that this was how normal couples behaved.
Tang Fuzhi’s eyes darted around, as if she had suddenly understood something.
Moments later, Tao Ran returned with tickets and two cups of yellow drinks. Though Tang Fuzhi had no memory of it, her instincts told her these must be delicious.
Her eyes sparkled as she eagerly approached Tao Ran, her gaze fixed on the unfamiliar beverages. “What are these?” she asked sweetly. “They look so good!”
Tao Ran smiled gently, taking advantage of her height to pat Tang Fuzhi’s head. “Smashed Lemonade,” she said. “Your favorite fruit tea.”
Tang Fuzhi disliked all milk teas and fruit teas, except for lemonade.
Tang Fuzhi took a sip. The sweet and sour, ice-cold drink was so refreshing that she closed her eyes in contentment. A cup of lemonade on a hot summer day was pure bliss.
So good.
She couldn’t resist taking a few more sips.
The “Smashed Lemonade” looked like a large cup, but it was actually only half-full. After just a few gulps, she’d already finished half of it.
Something this delicious shouldn’t be enjoyed all at once. Deciding to savor it slowly, Tang Fuzhi quietly set down her drink, resolving to play for a while before finishing it.
The amusement park offered a wide variety of attractions. Tao Ran had purchased all-access passes, allowing them to enjoy any ride they wanted.
Following the principle of gradual progression, they started with the gentlest option: the carousel, which looked completely tame.
Tang Fuzhi had initially assumed they’d each ride their own horse, a perfectly normal arrangement, but Tao Ran refused.
Confused, Tang Fuzhi tilted her head, her eyes full of questions. “Why not?”
Tao Ran pointed to a clingy couple sharing a horse, using it as an excuse to get closer. “We’re a couple, and couples should act like couples.”
“Besides,” Tao Ran added, quoting some melodramatic lines Tang Fuzhi had once seen online, “don’t you think it’s a bit much for us to ride separate horses? Imagine me sitting behind you, already together, yet still unable to catch up to you. How pathetic would that be?”
Tao Ran lowered her gaze.
Though the words sounded a bit melodramatic, they perfectly captured her state of mind.
Her state of mind before Tang Fuzhi lost her memory.
