I Fall Every Time I Meet an Alpha [Transmigrated into a Book] - Chapter 43
After that, the pair would often make life difficult for Zhong Xiaoxiao. Whenever they saw her, they would bully her like she was some kind of pet, blocking her path, splashing water on her, or throwing things at her. Zhong Xiaoxiao endured it again and again, until she could take it no longer. She was about to explode.
But before exploding, she knew she couldn’t take them on alone, she needed backup.
“Meng Yuqing, are we friends?” (If we are, then it’s time for a dogfight, go get them!)
“Yeah, what’s up?” Meng Yuqing asked, looking at her.
“If a friend gets bullied, what would you do?” Zhong Xiaoxiao coaxed her step by step.
“Who bullied you? I’ll help you get back at them.” Meng Yuqing smirked, rather enjoying the feeling of Zhong Xiaoxiao relying on her.
That’s exactly what I wanted to hear! Zhong Xiaoxiao laughed maniacally in her heart. The time for revenge had come! What goes around comes around!
She had already figured out that those two were in the neighboring class.
If they dared to mess with her again, they were dead.
“Here, take this pepper spray first.” Zhong Xiaoxiao pulled a small bottle out of her bag and handed it to her.
“…” Meng Yuqing gave her a strange look. Weren’t they going to fight?
“Better safe than sorry.” Zhong Xiaoxiao winked at her.
That mischievous, spirited expression made Meng Yuqing freeze for a second. A jolt of electricity seemed to shoot straight to her heart, making it pound wildly.
Meng Yuqing swallowed hard as she watched the girl turn away.
System 666: Your heart rate is too high. Are you okay?
Meng Yuqing rolled her eyes: Weren’t you just itching to electrocute me?
System 666: A small punishment as a warning. If you don’t suffer a little, you keep straying off course and causing trouble.
Meng Yuqing: I’m not causing trouble.
System 666: In any case, if you listen to me, you won’t be punished.
Meng Yuqing: Fine, I’ll listen. So what now?
System 666: Uh… just do as the female lead says for now. Lately, people keep picking on her, it’s all unrelated to the plot. Don’t let her waste time on that. Getting together with the male lead is what really matters.
Meng Yuqing: Got it.
When Zhong Xiaoxiao went to the bathroom, she dragged Meng Yuqing along. She had learned her lesson, no more going alone. She was going to make full use of this villainous female supporting character to deal with her bullies.
Zhong Xiaoxiao came out of the bathroom and waited outside for Meng Yuqing when, unexpectedly, someone yanked her hair from behind, messing up her twin ponytails. Her scalp stung from the force of the pull.
“Ow! What the hell?!” Zhong Xiaoxiao clutched her hair and turned around, glaring furiously at the person who had pulled it.
“Hey there, shorty. How’s it going?”
How’s it going my ass! Zhong Xiaoxiao was fuming. She glared and snapped, “Are you insane? Why’d you pull my hair?!”
Li Shiting smirked at her. “For fun.”
Just then, Meng Yuqing stepped out of the bathroom and saw the tension between them. She immediately walked over and stood beside Zhong Xiaoxiao, eyeing Li Shiting. “What’s going on?”
“Meng Yuqing, perfect timing! It’s her, she’s the one bullying me!” Zhong Xiaoxiao huffed angrily, thinking, Damn it, hurry up and get revenge for me!
Meng Yuqing looked at Li Shiting and tilted her chin up. “You bullied her?”
“Yeah, so what?” Li Shiting replied with an air of superiority.
Meng Yuqing raised her hand and slapped her, the sharp crack of the blow echoed loudly in the empty hallway.
Li Shiting’s head snapped to the side from the blow, her face burning with pain. A fire of rage surged in her chest, she had never suffered such humiliation before.
“You dare hit me?!” She whipped her head around, glaring furiously.
“Why wouldn’t I dare?” Meng Yuqing sneered. “I’m the certified madwoman here.”
“Meng Yuqing!” Li Shiting gritted her teeth and lunged forward, only to be caught by Fang Yu’s restraining arms. “Shiting, don’t be rash!”
Zhong Xiaoxiao stood frozen nearby. Holy heavens! Meng Yuqing was absolutely savage! That slap had sent Xiaoxiao’s heart trembling wildly. Her pulse raced with anxiety, terrified they might come to blows.
Though Li Shiting struggled against Fang Yu’s hold, the tense standoff between them had already drawn numerous curious gazes.
Fang Yu whispered into Li Shiting’s ear, “Why cause a scene at school? There’ll be plenty of chances to deal with them after class.”
With visible effort, Li Shiting reined in her temper and shot Meng Yuqing a cold laugh. “This isn’t over.”
Meng Yuqing merely snorted, dismissing her entirely. She slung an arm around Zhong Xiaoxiao’s shoulders and announced to the crowd, “This is my sister-in-law. From now on, I’ve got her back. Anyone who wants to bully her had better think twice.” Her voice was light, her tone casual, yet it carried undeniable menace. Combined with her notorious reputation as a lunatic, who would dare provoke her?
Du Lingyan observed their petty squabble with detached indifference neither intervening nor stopping it.
She had only ordered those two to harass Zhong Xiaoxiao to fulfill Gan Qingyun’s request. Compared to the original plan of eliminating the girl entirely, this was child’s play.
Something had shifted in Du Lingyan’s perspective now. She no longer harbored the same murderous intent toward Zhong Xiaoxiao. Gan Qingyun still pined for Meng Yuzhou, who in turn yearned for Zhong Xiaoxiao. Why should she remove Zhong Xiaoxiao and clear Gan Qingyun’s path straight into another’s arms?
That wasn’t happening.
Zhong Xiaoxiao was perfect, let her and Meng Yuzhou remain hopelessly entangled.
Gan Qingyun, of course, noticed Du Lingyan’s lackluster efforts and grew icier toward her: “If you can’t demonstrate sincerity, don’t come looking for me again.”
“Don’t be like that~” Du Lingyan quickly embraced her, coaxing as anger flashed across Gan Qingyun’s face. “Having them harass her might drive her to drop out eventually. Even if we don’t kill her, the end result’s the same, you won’t have to see her again. Isn’t that what you want?”
“No. I want her erased from this world.”
“That’s a crime.”
“Haven’t you committed one already?” Gan Qingyun shoved her away with a derisive laugh. “Don’t play righteous now.”
Du Lingyan studied her, lips curling into a wicked smile. “If I kill her and go to prison, nothing would stand between you and Meng Yuzhou, would it? What a brilliant strategy, two birds with one stone.”
Cornered, Gan Qingyun stiffened defensively though guilt flickered beneath. “Did I ask you to murder her personally? There are countless accidental deaths, you know that. Forget it. If you’re unwilling, so be it.” She turned toward the classroom.
“It’s not unwillingness,” Du Lingyan caught her hand. “I just hate that you still care about that Meng bastard. He doesn’t love!”
“Enough.” Gan Qingyun wrenched free, fury blazing. “I won’t listen to another word of your nonsense.”
With that, she walked away without looking back.
Du Lingyan scratched her head, feeling a bit of a headache.
Li Shiting and Fang Yu returned, and Du Lingyan noticed Li Shiting looked rather disheveled. She said to her, “Off to a rough start, huh?”
“Boss,” Li Shiting glared at Du Lingyan, eyes filled with fury, “I’m going to kill that bitch Meng Yuqing.”
“Sure, go ahead,” Du Lingyan chuckled. “Take Zhong Xiaoxiao down with her too.”
