I Am Being Raised by a Cat - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Early in the morning, Cheng Yue felt a bit lightheaded and dizzy.
Especially when the man stripped his clothes off with such efficiency and stood before him.
He hadn’t realized the man’s physique was so impressive when he was dressed; his muscles were firm, with clearly defined abdominal blocks openly exposed right in front of him.
The youth’s eyes went straight.
Above him, the man’s whisper rang out, laced with a hint of a smile, “And yet you say you don’t like it.”
!!!
What the…!!!
Cheng Yue’s entire face flushed bright red instantly. He stumbled back two steps and stammered, “What nonsense are you talking about! I was looking at your injury!!”
Cheng Shang chuckled. Hooking his shirt with his fingertip, he pressed forward two steps. “Alright then. If the Master wants to look, he must look clearly.”
Damn it, why is he calling me that again?
Cheng Yue was backed against the wall with absolutely nowhere to retreat. He bit his lip, forced to raise his head, but seeing the pectoral muscles practically thrust in his face made his breathing turn shallow and ragged. He quickly averted his gaze. “Don’t get so close.”
“What’s wrong? Isn’t this what the Master wanted to see?” The man stared intently at the person before him, his eyes shifting into golden beast-like pupils. His voice turned somewhat hoarse. “Why are you afraid of me? Why are you so distant with me?”
“Have you forgotten? Didn’t you love giving me baths most of all? Why is it that now, even a look isn’t allowed?”
The youth found it hard to put into words: “How can that be the same?”
How could a little kitten be compared to the man in front of him?
Ah Shang was a soft, fragrant little leopard cat. As for the man before him, he looked rock-hard all over.
His wrist was suddenly seized. The man grabbed his hand and placed it against his own chest, guiding him to touch a very prominent scar. “Here. Two bullets hit me. When they were taken out, the doctor said it was a miracle I survived.”
The youth’s hand, which had been struggling just a moment ago, suddenly froze.
His eyelashes fluttered as he looked up at the dark scar, his fingers gently brushing over it.
He remembered that in the past, even if Ah Shang had a tiny bump or scrape, he would be worried sick.
Seeing the youth’s distressed expression, Cheng Shang suddenly felt a pang of regret. He wanted Cheng Yue to care about him, but he didn’t want to make Cheng Yue sad.
The man quickly changed the subject. “But it only sounds dangerous. New Humans have incredibly strong recovery abilities; it was fine after a few days.”
The youth sniffled. “Liar. Where else were you hurt?”
Seeing that Cheng Yue was about to drop “little pearls” (tears), the man didn’t dare let him see any more. The little schemes that had sprouted in his heart withered away instantly. He hurriedly pulled his clothes back on. “No more, no more. Everything else healed long ago.”
Cheng Yue lowered his gaze and hesitated before speaking. “Is your current job especially dangerous? Will there be… assassinations or something?”
Not expecting the youth to ask this, Cheng Shang wanted to laugh. He was about to speak when the youth suddenly grabbed his arm forcefully.
“Maybe you should resign. Oh, is it resigning? Or stepping down? Whatever it is, just stop doing it.”
Cheng Yue spoke with a sense of urgency. “There are so many ways to earn money. Being an official is too dangerous. Don’t you have a lot of political enemies?”
The smile on Cheng Shang’s face slowly faded. He looked quietly at the youth before him and spoke in a low voice, “I won’t. With you here, I don’t dare to die.”
“My life was saved by you. If I die, I will only die by your hand.”
The youth glared at him in anger. “What would I want your life for?”
“Then that settles it.”
Cheng Shang spoke with feigned lightness, “You watch over me and don’t let me get hurt.”
Hearing this, Cheng Yue’s eyelashes trembled. He pursed his lips and didn’t speak.
The man’s expression slowly turned cold. “Yue Yue, why do you insist on leaving?”
Cheng Yue whispered, “It’s just… not right for me to live here.”
What was the relationship between him and Cheng Shang? Master and pet?
In the past, he looked after Ah Shang because Ah Shang was his cat; it was only natural to treat Ah Shang well.
But now?
He didn’t want to flip the roles and become Cheng Shang’s pet.
It seemed no matter how he explained it to the youth, it wouldn’t click. Cheng Shang’s gaze darkened. He didn’t bring it up again, but glanced at the time and told Cheng Yue to come down for breakfast.
…
Having been kicked by the man yesterday, Xiao Xiao was clearly very well-behaved today. He didn’t say a word, but clung to Cheng Yue’s side, following him step for step.
The youth found it a bit funny, as if he were seeing the old Ah Shang.
He took a sip of milk and couldn’t help bending down to pat Xiao Xiao’s head. “Are you hungry?”
Before Xiao Xiao could speak, the man spoke first with an expressionless face, “He charges.”
“…”
Xiao Xiao proactively rubbed his smooth head against the youth’s hand and spoke in a very “dainty” robotic voice, “I can watch Yue Yue eat. When you’re finished, let’s play a game.”
Cheng Yue was surprised. “What game?”
The man opposite them knit his brows, tapped his finger on the table, and spoke in a somewhat cool voice, “Eat your food properly.”
Cheng Yue muttered, “So many rules.”
When he was a little leopard cat, he used to sit on the chair next to him to eat; there weren’t this many rules then.
Cheng Shang acted as if he hadn’t heard, raising his hand to ladle a bowl of soup and placing it by the youth’s hand. “Drink this.”
“I can’t eat anymore.”
“Be good, drink it.” Cheng Shang paused. “I have a gift for you after you drink it.”
Cheng Yue said softly, “Who wants a gift? I’m not a child.”
Using those kinds of words to coax him.
Despite his words, the youth held the bowl and obediently drank all the soup.
Watching Cheng Yue eat seriously, a sense of immense satisfaction rose in the man’s heart.
He was still too thin; he wanted to raise the youth to be a bit plumper and bring every good thing in the world to him.
When Cheng Yue finally finished eating, although he didn’t say anything, he couldn’t help but keep looking at Cheng Shang.
The man deliberately didn’t speak at first, choosing to clear the table instead. Later, seeing that Cheng Yue really was about to go play some game with that stupid robot, he quickly spoke up, “Yue Yue, let’s go upstairs.”
Cheng Yue huffed. “I don’t want to see it now.”
The man sighed. “What should I do then? Should I beg you?”
The youth tried his best to keep his lips in a straight line, but in the end, he couldn’t help a shallow smile. He followed Cheng Shang upstairs.
In the two days he had lived here, Cheng Yue had stayed on the second floor. This was the first time he followed the man to the third floor, walking through a long corridor to the room at the very end.
The moment the door was pushed open, Cheng Yue froze.
It was a fully furnished art studio with excellent lighting. White curtains fluttered, and sunlight filled the room.
“This…”
“The studio was actually finished a while ago. Things have been busy these past couple of days, so I only brought you to see it today.”
Cheng Yue was an art student. Because he was usually a homebody, he spent most of his time at home binge-watching shows or painting and what he painted most was Ah Shang.
The little leopard cat was very good; as long as the youth coaxed him and gave him a few kisses, he would obediently act as a little cat model.
The man asked him in a low voice, “Yue Yue, are you willing to paint me again?”
