I Am Being Raised by a Cat - Chapter 25
Chapter 25
Cheng Shang felt as though he was asking for trouble.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have ended up in such an unbearable situation.
Cheng Yue threw the towel back at the man, glaring at him and making him wipe himself down.
The man was reluctant, but he still obediently and laboriously finished wiping with one hand. Afterward, Cheng Yue didn’t say a word, turned around, and walked out.
Cheng Shang couldn’t follow him and could only watch piteously from the hospital bed.
A few minutes later, he returned with Fang Cheng following behind him.
Fang Cheng didn’t dare look Cheng Shang in the eye and signaled for the workers behind him to enter.
The man’s tone turned a few degrees colder. “What are you doing?”
“Having them install a curtain.”
The youth’s tone was cool as he pointed. “We need a curtain between our two beds.”
Facing the youth, Cheng Shang couldn’t maintain a cold face, but he was still quite displeased. “Why add a curtain?”
Cheng Yue gave a huff. “Because I don’t want to look at you.”
Cheng Shang’s expression darkened completely. His lips moved as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he didn’t speak. Instead, he deliberately turned his head away and didn’t look at Cheng Yue.
Fang Cheng wished he could squeeze himself into a crack in the floor, fearing Governor Cheng would take his anger out on him.
Fortunately, from beginning to end, Cheng Shang didn’t utter another word.
Once everyone had left, Cheng Yue turned around and went to the adjacent bathroom to shower.
The sound of splashing water reached Cheng Shang’s ears, only causing a surge of restlessness to well up within him. He kept his eyes lowered, his expression deep and dark, lost in thought.
The water was a bit hot; when the youth walked out, his exposed skin was flushed from the steam.
He deliberately avoided looking at Cheng Shang, lay down comfortably on his own bed, and pulled the curtain shut with great force.
“…”
Even if New Humans had superior physical constitutions, they didn’t have X-ray vision.
Cheng Shang stared fiercely at the tightly drawn curtain, looking as though he wanted to poke two holes through it.
“Didn’t you say you were staying to take care of me?” Cheng Shang’s tone was rather sarcastic. “How can you take care of me through a curtain?”
The youth’s head was likely under the covers, as his voice sounded a bit muffled. “Why not? If you’re in pain, just call me, and I’ll call the doctor for you.”
Cheng Shang, who could reach the call button just by slightly lifting his hand: “…”
Actually, there was no need to trouble this little ancestor.
“I want to see you.”
The man spoke with thick-skinned bluntness.
Cheng Yue had already closed his eyes. “Then keep wanting.”
Cheng Shang’s face darkened. After a few seconds, he suddenly heard a rustling sound from the other side.
The youth spoke as if he couldn’t take it anymore. “What are you doing?”
The man didn’t make a sound.
The youth sat up abruptly and yanked the curtain open, seeing Cheng Shang rummaging through the nearby cabinet for something.
He was startled and quickly threw back his covers to get up and go over. “Don’t move around recklessly! What if you hit your wound?”
“What are you looking for?”
Cheng Shang coldly spat out two words: “Looking for medicine.”
If he took the medicine, he could logically hold his baby to sleep.
Cheng Yue choked. “You don’t need to take it. The doctor said that while you’re recovering from your injury, you can temporarily stop that medicine.”
He kept a stern little face. “Lie down and go to sleep properly.”
The man let out a deep breath. “Lie down next to me, otherwise I can’t sleep.”
What kind of quirk was this?
Cheng Yue didn’t want to deal with him and turned to leave, but as soon as he turned, he heard sounds coming from behind him again.
Turning back, he saw the man sitting there quietly, staring at him.
He looked exactly like he would never sleep unless Cheng Yue accompanied him.
Cheng Yue was nearly dying of anger; for a moment, it was as if he were hallucinating that clingy little leopard cat from before.
Ultimately, the youth helplessly crawled into the man’s blankets, his voice cold. “Sleep!”
Finally, he could sleep.
The man lay down contentedly, wanting to reach out and pull the youth into his arms, but he was rejected by Cheng Yue. “Don’t move, you still have injuries on you.”
The meat was right by his mouth—he could see it but couldn’t eat it, and now he couldn’t even touch it.
For the first time, Cheng Shang resented how large this hospital bed was!
Consequently, when Fang Cheng came over the next morning to report on work to Cheng Shang, what he saw was the man’s dark, gloomy face.
Meanwhile, the youth beside him was still wrapped in the blankets, sleeping soundly. Woken by the noise, he rolled over and muttered something incomprehensible.
Fang Cheng, being close by, heard it clearly.
He was telling Cheng Shang to go outside to talk and not to wake him up.
“…”
For a moment, it was unclear who the patient was.
Fang Cheng stood there waiting, not daring to make a sound.
It wasn’t until a few minutes later that Cheng Yue seemed to wake up fully. He suddenly lifted his head, saw Fang Cheng standing nearby, and his face turned bright red.
Fang Cheng gave a polite smile. “Good morning, young master.”
Cheng Yue awkwardly replied with a “morning,” then practically scrambled out of the bed using both hands and feet, quickly ducking into the adjacent lounge.
So embarrassing, ugh.
He stayed in the lounge for quite a while, until he could no longer hear talking outside. Only then did the youth poke his head out.
Cheng Shang spotted him instantly and beckoned to him. “Come here.”
“Why do you have so much work even when you’re sick?” the youth complained. “Can’t you just recover properly?”
“Let me hold you for a bit.”
The man said, “I’ll be better once I take a ‘breath’ of you.”
Cheng Yue was somewhat speechless.
He remembered how, back when he used to go out for part-time jobs, he would also grab the cat and take a deep “sniff.”
So now the roles were reversed?
He pushed gently against the man’s chest. “I have an exam at school today. I have to head over there in a bit.”
Cheng Shang frowned. “An exam is more important than me? Didn’t you vow yesterday that you’d stay here to take care of me?”
And as a result, he refused to sleep in the same bed, and the very next day he was thinking about running off.
“I’ll come back after the exam.” Cheng Yue blinked. “I see your condition is quite good right now.”
Hearing this, the man immediately coughed twice. “No, it still hurts a lot.”
Cheng Yue snorted. “I don’t believe you.”
Dammit!
The kitty actually had zero credibility with the human.
In the end, the youth still went to school with his backpack, though with two extra bodyguards following him. This was unavoidable; who knew how insane those people could get?
The moment Cheng Yue left, the man had Fang Cheng bring over a set of clean clothes.
Seeing the man take the clothes and stand up to head to the lounge, Fang Cheng was stunned. “What are you…? Are you discharging yourself?”
It hadn’t even been two days since he woke up. Forget a New Human—even Superman shouldn’t be doing this.
“I’m not discharging,” the man said calmly. “But I need to hold a video conference.”
Fang Cheng understood instantly and bowed slightly. “I will go prepare it.”
…
Events in the outside world had nothing to do with the school, which remained in a relaxed atmosphere.
Cheng Yue’s words were tough, but in his heart, he was still worried about the man’s injury. As soon as he finished his exam, he hurried out, wanting to get back to the hospital quickly.
Liu Cheng’s phone call came through at that moment.
“Cheng Yue, you didn’t reply to my message the other day. I was really a bit worried. I hope I’m not bothering you?”
Cheng Yue paused and said quickly, “No, Senior. It’s likely the message got buried and I didn’t see it.”
Liu Cheng laughed. “What have you been busy with lately? I went to that cafe later but didn’t see you.”
Cheng Yue gave a vague answer. “Yeah, I haven’t been out much lately.”
“It’s good that Governor Cheng is fine. It seems I was worrying over nothing. Well, if you’re busy, I won’t bother you. I’m just glad to know you’re okay.”
Cheng Yue frowned. “Governor… Cheng is fine? How do you know, Senior?”
“It’s being broadcast live on the Federal Satellite Channel. Governor Cheng is presiding over the latest government work meeting.”
Cheng Yue gripped his phone tightly.
Stinky cat! He lied to him again.
