I Am Being Raised by a Cat - Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Even with Cheng Shang’s strong recovery abilities, he still had to be hospitalized for a few days. The youth refused to leave no matter what, insisting on staying at the hospital to accompany and take care of him.
The man made a couple of hypocritical attempts to persuade him otherwise before giving up.
After all, he wished for nothing more than for Cheng Yue to stay by his side.
Once the doctor had administered the painkillers, Cheng Yue sat on the small chair by the hospital bed, his expression so solemn he looked like he was interrogating a criminal.
“What exactly happened?” Cheng Yue asked aggressively. “Didn’t you say there wouldn’t be any assassinations?”
Cheng Shang hadn’t expected to be proven wrong so face-pittingly fast.
He let out a laugh, but his lowered eyes were filled with coldness.
This time, it appeared he had been hit by a gunshot, but in reality, the bullet had avoided all his vital organs.
Rather than an attempt on his life, it was more like a warning.
At the time, Cheng Shang had received a phone call regarding the capture of the Heavy Green Society spies at the previous art exhibition; apparently, some matters might involve Cheng Yue.
Since it concerned Cheng Yue, he had to go.
He hadn’t expected his driver to be turned, which led to this trip nearly becoming a one-way journey.
Thinking it over, this matter definitely couldn’t be separated from the Heavy Green Society.
Facing Cheng Yue, however, the man didn’t want to say too much. He simply said vaguely, “Maybe I criticized a subordinate last time and they weren’t happy about it. Who knows? The world is so messy these days.”
Seeing the man’s nonchalant attitude, Cheng Yue’s anger flared up.
“You just don’t care about your own body at all, do you?! Getting hurt is fine, but is dying fine too?!”
The youth stood up abruptly, took a step forward, and grabbed the man’s collar fiercely. His movements were quite imposing, yet the corners of his eyes were flushed red as if brushed with rouge, and a layer of mist covered his round eyes.
He didn’t look fierce; instead, he looked like he was acting a bit spoiled.
“Don’t forget, you are my cat. Your life belongs to me.”
Cheng Yue practically spat these words through gritted teeth.
The air seemed to freeze for an instant.
As their eyes met, countless emotions seemed to be surging deep within the man’s dark pupils.
He wasn’t angry.
Far from being angry, it felt as if the blood in his entire body was boiling; every cell seemed to be dancing joyfully, and fireworks were exploding inside his head.
Cheng Shang’s Adam’s apple rolled up and down, his voice slightly hoarse.
“Master, of course I am yours.”
“I belong to you.”
These words were like a fire, searing and scalding.
Cheng Yue suddenly let go, his tone a bit panicked, losing all of his previous faked ferocity.
“You—you don’t have to put it like that.”
“I just want you to be careful.”
Every time he heard the man call him “Master,” Cheng Yue couldn’t help but feel jumpy and flushed.
“I’m going to find the doctor to ask about the situation again.”
After saying this in a panic, he turned and ran out.
This was just how the youth was—he couldn’t even fake it convincingly. He was like a paper tiger, easily punctured; or like a crispy cream puff—appearing to have a hard outer shell, but once cracked open, the inside was all white cream.
One couldn’t help but want to swallow him whole into one’s stomach.
…
Afterward, Liu Cheng sent Cheng Yue several more messages.
They were nothing more than saying he shouldn’t have talked too much and telling Cheng Yue not to worry too much.
Cheng Yue hesitated for a moment and did not reply.
Dinner was brought to the ward by Fang Cheng. A few days ago it was Cheng Yue who was sick, and now it was Cheng Shang’s turn; the two took turns eating patient meals.
Cheng Shang leaned against the hospital bed. Just as he was about to lift his hand, he let out a “hiss” of pain, while simultaneously glancing at Fang Cheng.
Fang Cheng quickly said, “Oh, Governor Cheng, please don’t move around. Don’t touch the wound.”
Cheng Yue was startled. “Why are you moving?!”
The man’s tone sounded somewhat aggrieved. “I want to eat.”
Cheng Yue spoke without thinking, “I’ll feed you!”
Cheng Shang coughed twice, appearing even more sickly and frail.
Fang Cheng couldn’t bear to watch and quickly turned to leave.
The youth picked up a piece of vegetable and held it to the man’s mouth. Cheng Shang pursed his lips, appearing to open his mouth only with great effort.
Cheng Yue took the opportunity to say, “You didn’t like eating vegetables before. Eating more vegetables makes it harder to get sick. Look at you now, you’ve become a sick cat.”
“…”
Even so, eating vegetables can hardly stop a bullet.
Cheng Shang said slowly, “Did you think I didn’t know you mixed vegetable powder into the canned food?”
Cheng Yue was greatly shocked. “You knew about that?!”
He had done it behind Ah Shang’s back every time!
Cheng Shang gave a huff. “I have a tongue. It’s not like I’ve lost my sense of taste.”
Embarrassed by his words, Cheng Yue quickly stuffed another bite of vegetables into the man’s mouth. “Just eat more.”
Coaxing the youth to feed him food and water made Cheng Shang feel utterly comfortable. But human desire constantly accumulates and grows; once one gets a little, one wants more.
Cheng Shang pushed his luck. “I want to take a shower.”
“Huh?” Cheng Yue was stunned. “How can you shower right now?”
“It’s fine.”
Cheng Shang knit his brows, looking as though he couldn’t stand it. “It’s been two days. My body is itching uncomfortably.”
Remembering how he used to buy those special pet cleaning wipes to wipe Ah Shang’s body.
The youth asked tentatively, “Then, how about you make do for now, and I’ll use a towel to wipe you down?”
Cheng Shang frowned, appearing to hesitate for a second, but in reality, his body lay down flat instantly.
“Alright. Sorry to trouble you, Master.”
“…”
Cheng Yue went to wash a small towel and returned. Within a few minutes, when he got back to the bed, the man had already taken off his clothes.
“…Aren’t you cold?”
“I’m okay.” Cheng Shang’s eyes remained fixed on the youth.
Cheng Yue let out a somewhat speechless twitch of his lips and began wiping with the towel—the neck, the chest. The wound was tightly wrapped in bandages, so basically nothing could be seen, but Cheng Yue still carefully avoided the injured area.
After finishing the upper body, the youth paused his movements. “Your body doesn’t itch anymore, right?”
Cheng Shang’s Adam’s apple rolled once. “It itches down there, too.”
Cheng Yue almost threw the towel directly into the man’s face.
It was easy to say, but once he actually started, he realized that wiping a cat and wiping a man were not the same thing.
A kitty only has soft fur.
But this man’s entire body was rock hard, especially wherever Cheng Yue’s hand touched; the muscles there would tense up like a bulging stone.
Cheng Yue took a deep breath. Before he could catch his breath, he saw the man starting to take off his pants. He nearly choked.
“What are you doing?!”
Cheng Shang looked puzzled. “Are you going to wipe through the pants?”
“I…” Cheng Yue choked. “Can’t you wipe the bottom part yourself?”
Cheng Shang lowered his eyes. “Master thinks I’m a bother, is that it?”
Cheng Yue froze in place. It was as if a giant pot had fallen from the sky and landed “clang” on his head, with several words clearly written on the pot:
— Cat good, Human bad!!
The youth quickly gripped the small towel tightly and explained in a panic, “No, how could I?”
It was as if he saw his cat injured, looking at him piteously, while he was still being disgusted by it.
For a moment, Cheng Yue’s heart was filled with guilt. He stepped forward, determined to help the man wipe his body clean in one go.
Except he hadn’t expected that not only was the man’s body rock hard, but it was the same down there as well.
Cheng Yue was stunned, his eyes wide and round. After a few seconds, he asked indignantly, “You—you’re still sick.”
Cheng Shang licked the corner of his mouth, his voice a bit raspy. “It might be because of the medicine.”
“What medicine!!!” Cheng Yue wasn’t so easily fooled this time. “You were given painkillers, not an aphrodisiac!!”
He angrily tossed the small towel aside, determined to give his “kitty” a good lecture.
The youth looked heartbroken. “How did you become like this? You used to be such a good cat; when you watched TV, you only watched cartoons. You—tell me yourself, how many times has this been now?”
The man’s hand gripped the side rail of the bed so hard he almost left fingerprints on it. The veins on his temples bulged, and he let out a very heavy breath.
Cheng Yue was truly angry. He cared so much about the man’s health, but not only did Cheng Shang not take it seriously himself, he actually had the mood to…
“Cheng Shang, you are really too much!!”
Having been harshly scolded by the youth, the man looked up, meeting Cheng Yue’s round eyes. He quickly looked away again and said raspily, “Master, stop scolding.”
Cheng Yue gave a cold laugh. “What, you think it’s embarrassing? Look at yourself now—isn’t this even more embarrassing?!”
It’s not that…
Cheng Shang closed his eyes.
Being scolded by him felt a bit too good—it made him even more “energetic.”
