I Am Being Raised by a Cat - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Knowing the man had regained his senses, Cheng Yue felt a bit awkward instead.
It was as if when the man was sick, he could naturally treat him as A-Shang; but once the man was sober, he instinctively felt that the person before him had turned back into the cold and majestic Governor Cheng.
There was always a sense of distance.
After all, the two of them had just had a huge argument before all this.
Cheng Yue pulled his feet back and sat up straight. He hesitated for a moment and whispered, “I…”
“I…”
Both of them spoke at almost the same time.
Cheng Shang’s eyes darkened slightly. “Baby, you go first.”
If the youth was going to say he wanted to leave…
The man lowered his eyes, dark and gloomy emotions fluctuating in their depths. It felt as if the suppressed heat was starting to surge again.
“I was saying, I won’t go to work for now, and I won’t move out either. I’ll stay with you until your illness is cured.”
Lock Yue-Yue up. Chain him to the bed so he can’t go anywhere.
Wait, what did he say?
The man suddenly looked up, staring straight at Cheng Yue, and asked hoarsely, “Baby, say that again.”
The youth felt a bit uneasy and turned his head slightly. “Don’t call me that.”
It was always the master who called the cat “baby.” How could it be the other way around?
The natural order was being subverted!!!
Cheng Shang’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He felt his heart burning, as if his entire being had come back to life.
“Yue-Yue, thank you,” he whispered.
Cheng Yue’s tone became a bit more serious. “But you must go see a doctor. I’ll go with you. You have to actively cooperate with the treatment.”
“Okay,” the man’s voice was deep and husky. “Whatever you say, I’ll listen to you.”
Cheng Yue felt rather awkward. To put on his shoes, the man was currently half-kneeling in front of him, while he was sitting upright on the sofa.
One sitting, one kneeling.
Yet the one kneeling was so tall and sturdy that even in this posture, he exerted an oppressive aura. It made Cheng Yue look like the one in the dominant position, while the man gripped one side of the sofa, the possessiveness in his dark eyes nearly overflowing.
Cheng Yue’s heartbeat grew erratic under his gaze. He averted his eyes slightly, trying to build up his mental defenses to appear more stern.
“Alright, since you’ll listen to me, we’re going to the hospital right now.”
“That won’t do,” the man vetoed immediately. “You haven’t eaten yet. I made breakfast; you must eat at least a little.”
Habit from the past two days made the man instinctively reach out to pick Cheng Yue up.
But the youth dodged him.
Pretending not to see the extended hand, he walked out in his slippers with a pitter-patter. “Okay, okay, I’m hungry too.”
The man took a second to retract his hand. His eyes darkened, but then he gave a somewhat helpless smile and stood up to follow. “Slow down on the stairs.”
There weren’t many types of breakfast, and they looked quite light, but at a glance, they were all things Cheng Yue loved to eat.
Thin-skinned soup dumplings, soft and sweet osmanthus cakes, and freshly boiled, steaming sweet soy milk.
Because of the man’s illness, Cheng Yue hadn’t eaten much yesterday. Now he was truly hungry. After sitting down, he picked up a soup dumpling and stuffed it into his mouth. But as soon as he took a bite, the thin skin broke, and the scalding soup inside exploded out.
The youth’s face turned pale. He opened his mouth and puffed air a few times. Cheng Shang’s expression changed instantly; he quickly placed his hand in front of the boy’s mouth. “Spit it out.”
Cheng Yue didn’t have time to think. He instinctively lowered his head and spat the food into the man’s hand. He felt a bit of regret afterward, but seeing that the man’s expression hadn’t changed at all, throwing the food away and pouring a glass of fresh water for him he relaxed.
His tongue hurt from the burn. Cheng Yue held the cup and took a few sips of water before feeling a bit of relief.
But in the next second, the man reached out and pinched his cheeks.
The youth was very thin, but he still had some “baby fat.” When his cheeks were pinched, the soft flesh on both sides squeezed out.
Cheng Shang said in a deep voice, “Open your mouth. Let me see.”
The youth froze. Before he could react, he instinctively opened his mouth slightly.
The man looked as if he were inspecting his own property, scanning the tender red oral cavity, including that soft, red little tongue which was tremulously extended.
It wasn’t injured, just slightly red.
Just looking at it, one could imagine how it felt inside. It must be soft and slick. When kissing him, one would surely want to swallow him whole.
Adam’s apple rolled.
Cheng Yue belatedly realized something was wrong. The gaze the man cast upon him was becoming increasingly hot and scorching, as if it were going to burn through him.
He quickly snapped his mouth shut. After a pause, he whispered, “Are… are you hungry too?”
He was hungry.
Cheng Shang felt an itch between his teeth. He wanted to eat something immediately—for example, the youth’s fair, tender fingers, that soft tongue from just now, or the red “cherries” he had coveted for a long time.
But in the next second, the youth quick-wittedly took a piece of osmanthus cake and stuffed it into his mouth. “If you’re hungry, eat more.”
The man opened his mouth and bit down a mouthful of soft, sweet fragrance.
He only regretted not biting faster; that way, he could have licked the youth’s fingers.
…
After breakfast, Fang Cheng drove over to pick them up.
Originally, Cheng Shang didn’t want the youth to follow, but Cheng Yue refused to budge and insisted on going with him.
“Have you not thought about treating your illness for so long?” Cheng Yue huffed. “I’m going too. I want to hear what the doctor says about you. You’re not allowed to hide your sickness from the doctor.”
The sun was very bright. The youth wore a large hat that only showed the tip of his chin. When he tilted his head up, his posture was haughty, but in Cheng Shang’s eyes, everything about him was cute.
Fang Cheng was about to open the car door, but Cheng Shang blocked him first. He personally opened the door for the youth, extending a hand to shield the boy’s head, coaxing him in a low voice, “I won’t. Didn’t I say at home? I’ll listen to you in everything.”
Fang Cheng was still standing nearby, so Cheng Yue was too embarrassed to say much. He pulled the door shut.
The moment the car door closed, the tenderness on the man’s face faded. He looked up and gave Fang Cheng a cold, temperatureless glance. Fang Cheng shuddered and quickly lowered his head.
The Governor was blaming him for talking too much.
But how long could such an illness be hidden from the young master anyway?
…
The doctor was an acquaintance of Cheng Shang and was also a New Human. However, like Cheng Shang, he didn’t seem to like showing his animal features. Cheng Yue stared at him curiously for a long time but couldn’t figure out what animal his original form was.
“Governor Cheng has been here for psychological treatment several times, but the results weren’t ideal.” The doctor looked at Cheng Shang’s expression and spoke carefully. “Actually, my suggestion is still medication, but… Governor Cheng refused.”
Cheng Shang knit his brows and shot an unpleasant look at the doctor.
But in the next second, he heard the youth’s angry questioning, “Why did you refuse!!”
The Governor, who had been cold and stern just a moment ago, now sat there silently being lectured by the youth.
Cheng Yue was so upset that he balled up his small fists and gave the man a thump. “Do you not care about your body at all?”
At this moment, he only felt a sense of relief.
Thank goodness. Thank goodness he had come after all.
Otherwise, what would Cheng Shang have done?
The doctor opposite them watched with a pounding heart. He had no idea who this youth was, but he was terrified that he was about to see blood splattered on the spot.
But of course, that didn’t happen. When the youth’s fist thudded against him, Cheng Shang only felt a sense of comfort all over. When he looked up at the youth, there was even a trace of a smile in his eyes. He wished he could grab that small fist and give it a good kiss.
The doctor quickly spoke up, “Actually, it’s mainly because this medicine has side effects.”
Cheng Yue froze. “What?”
The doctor coughed. “This medicine contains certain hallucinogenic components. The body structure of New Humans is still different from ordinary people. Taking this medicine easily leads to… uh, a strong desire to be close to the person one likes.”
He used the most euphemistic term possible.
Be close??
Cheng Yue breathed a sigh of relief.
He thought it was something serious.
“That’s fine,” he said generously. “That’s exactly how he acts when his illness flares up—he likes being close.”
The doctor broke into a violent fit of coughing.
The man beside him raised a hand to press his temple, then grabbed the youth’s hand, coaxing him to sit down properly by his side. He explained in a low voice, “You know my work. This side effect would make me irrational. I must keep a clear head at all times to make decisions.”
He paused deliberately. “Unless…”
Cheng Yue asked quickly, “Unless what?”
“If you can be by my side at all times to help me alleviate the effects of the medicine, the side effects will be much smaller.”
Like the past two days?
Being held in his arms like a small doll at all times, not even being allowed to use his own hands in the bathroom…
The youth hesitated. “Does it… have to be me…”
Cheng Shang’s expression instantly turned gloomy. “What does Yue-Yue mean? Do you want me to find someone else?”
Thinking about Cheng Shang holding someone else and licking them all over, the youth really didn’t feel comfortable.
He could only mutter in a small voice, “Fine, fine. As long as it gets you better, anything goes.”
The man was satisfied now. His expression cleared, and he tilted his chin up lazily. “Prescribe the medicine.”
The doctor sighed inwardly as he watched the youth being completely hoodwinked.
He’s going to be eaten alive.
Coming out of the hospital, Cheng Yue was still nagging by his side, “You have to take your medicine on time every day. Actually, maybe I should watch you; what if you forget one day?”
The man curled his lips. “Okay, then Baby can watch me take my medicine. How is our Baby so good, even helping me treat my illness?”
Cheng Yue glared at him. “I told you not to call me that.”
Cheng Shang sighed. “I can’t call you Master, and I can’t call you Baby.”
He took a step forward, looking like he wanted to hug the youth. Cheng Yue dodged back with extreme vigilance. “What are you doing! You haven’t taken your medicine yet!”
Cheng Shang choked, retracting his hand somewhat dejectedly.
Because of his illness, a lot of matters had piled up over the past two days. Cheng Shang needed to go directly to the Government Hall. Of course, Cheng Yue was “packaged” and brought along by him.
On the way, the youth leaned against the car window and saw a strange-looking building outside. He couldn’t help asking, “Where is that?”
Cheng Shang was processing emails. Fang Cheng, in the passenger seat, spoke up, “Young Master, that is the Academy of Arts.”
Cheng Yue gave a small “Oh.” Even after the car had driven far away, he couldn’t help but look back.
The man beside him stopped what he was doing, his gaze falling upon the youth.
He remembered.
Yue-Yue’s university studies… he hadn’t finished them yet.
