Husband, Let Your Husband Treat Your Illness - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Last night, the two of them slept honestly and didn’t do a thing. When Ye Mo woke up early in the morning, he found the person beside him already gone. Walking into the kitchen, he saw only a note left by Dongfang Jin: “Mo, I’ve already made breakfast. It’s in the fridge; just heat it up.”
Ye Mo opened the refrigerator and found another note stuck to the breakfast box: “I’ve taken on two surgeries in Japan and probably won’t be back for a few days. Go back to the family compound; I’ve already cleared it with Mom.”
Peeling off the note, Ye Mo couldn’t help but feel that this man truly treated him like a helpless little bride who couldn’t do anything for himself.
After finishing breakfast, Ye Mo dressed neatly and prepared to drive to Ye Xi’s manor.
Ye Xi’s manor was essentially in the opposite direction of the Dongfang family home, so Ye Mo planned to visit the manor first before heading back to the Dongfangs. When his car arrived at the manor, several well-trained servants came out to greet him.
“Young Master Mo, the Elderly Young Master is still sleeping. Please wait a moment,” a servant said.
“Where is my sister-in-law?” The relationship between the Ye brothers had always been good, and Ye Mo thought to himself that he mustn’t let his sister-in-law see the brothers arguing, otherwise there would be no peace at home.
“The Eldest Young Mistress has already gone out. She said she had an appointment with the daughters of several partner companies to go on vacation.”
“That’s for the best. I’ll wait downstairs; just bring me a cup of coffee.”
“Yes, sir.”
After waiting for about an hour, Ye Xi finally sauntered downstairs. Seeing Ye Mo sitting in the living room, the muscle at the corner of his eye twitched. “What brings you here today? Don’t you usually say my manor is ostentatious, extravagant, and useless?”
Ye Mo thought: You should know exactly why I’m here. Isn’t this asking the obvious?
Ye Mo didn’t beat around the bush and stated his intent directly to Ye Xi. “Brother, from now on, please stop interfering in the matters between me and Dongfang Jin.”
Ye Xi hadn’t expected Ye Mo to bring up the Dongfang Jin matter so bluntly. Sensing something was off, he tested the waters: “What? You know everything?”
“I know everything you said to Dongfang Jin yesterday. I know it clearly.” Ye Mo’s expression darkened, and his tone cooled several degrees as he spoke to Ye Xi. “Brother, how could you say such harsh things to him yesterday? Do you have no regard for his feelings, or mine?”
“Mo! He promised me yesterday not to tell you, yet he turned around and told you everything so you’d come here to interrogate me. This man is calculating and deep. Is there any point in staying with someone like that?” Ye Xi deflected, unwilling to address Ye Mo’s actual point.
“I made him tell me. I saw he was in low spirits yesterday; he was clearly suffering inside, yet he still put on a smile to cook for me. Do you know how much my heart ached seeing that expression?” Ye Mo became more agitated as he spoke, his whole body trembling.
“Mo, can’t you just listen to your big brother for once? There will be no good ending for you two, you’re both men! Stop this nonsense. If you break up with him, I guarantee the family will never pressure you to marry again. Just break up with him.” Ye Xi stated his condition, thinking Ye Mo was only with him to dodge marriage pressure. He expected Ye Mo to agree, but the next second, he realized he was dead wrong.
“Brother, you’re wrong. I will never break up with Dongfang Jin.” As Ye Xi looked at him in surprise, Ye Mo continued, “I don’t know when it started, but I feel like I can’t live without him anymore. What he gives me is something I never received in the first dozen years of my life. So Brother, stop interfering.”
Ye Xi seemed discouraged but remained persistent. “Mo, you’re still too young. You don’t understand.”
“Brother, I’m twenty-six. How could I not understand?”
“If you were just playing around, I wouldn’t care. But if you’re serious, then I have to intervene.” Ye Xi looked at Ye Mo coldly, his voice turning fierce. “I will not allow you to ruin the Ye family’s reputation in the business world like this.”
“Brother, does finding a male partner mean I’m ruining the Ye family’s reputation? If that’s the case, then the reputation the Ye family has built over all these years is truly worthless.”
“Ye Mo! No matter what, I will not allow you to do something so foolish!” Ye Xi looked at Ye Mo, and seeing that he remained unmoved, he shook his head and sighed.
“Since we can’t see eye to eye, there’s nothing more to say!” Ye Mo turned to leave, but he was blocked at the door by several of Ye Xi’s servants. “What? Since persuasion failed, you’re switching to violence?” Ye Mo turned back to Ye Xi, finding that he hardly recognized the man in front of him. Was this really his elder brother?
“Since you’re unwilling to leave him, I’ll have to use mandatory measures.” Ye Xi turned to his butler. “Butler Li, take Young Master Mo to the attic suite. Someone must watch him at all times. Treat him well with food and drink, but confiscate his phone.”
Butler Li efficiently took Ye Mo’s phone and had him escorted to the attic. Ye Mo knew Ye Xi wouldn’t hurt him; he simply wanted to make Dongfang Jin give up hope.
“No one is to mention Young Master Mo’s visit today.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Master, what about Young Master Mo’s car? How should we handle it?”
“Drive it back and park it at his own apartment.”
“Yes, sir.”
Ye Xi stirred his coffee slowly with a spoon, thinking to himself: This time, I must break you two apart.
…
The Dongfang compound was usually empty during the day. Those of Dongfang Hao’s generation had a habit: they had to go to the hospital every morning to consult, do outpatient work, or perform surgery, otherwise they’d feel restless. Usually, only Dongfang Jin’s mother, the grandparents, and Dongfang Yongxiao were left at home.
Dongfang Yongxiao was a writer, so he basically worked on his laptop wherever he was. Eventually, Chi Yuan called out to him, “Old Eighth, give your eldest sister-in-law a call and ask him to come over for dinner. Xiao Jin isn’t here, and I’m worried he won’t eat properly alone.” As soon as Chi Yuan finished speaking, Dongfang Yongxiao called Ye Mo. The call went through, but no one answered. He hung up and tried again, but the result was the same.
“Auntie, Sister-in-law isn’t answering. He’s probably still sleeping.” In fact, since the “eavesdropping incident” last time, the Dongfang family had been calling Ye Mo “Sister-in-law” in private. The unluckiest one was Dongfang Yi, who was the only one to say it to his face and got dealt with harshly for it.
“What time is it and he’s still sleeping? Old Eighth, go to your sister-in-law’s place. Your eldest brother left the address before he left.”
“Okay!”
Receiving the order, Dongfang Yongxiao rushed to the love nest of Dongfang Jin and Ye Mo. Arriving upstairs and seeing the door tightly shut, he assumed his “sister-in-law” was still asleep and rang the doorbell.
He heard the doorbell echoing inside the apartment, but no one came to open it. Dongfang Yongxiao gathered his courage and started knocking, shouting Ye Mo’s name: “Ye Mo! Mo! Get up! Auntie made dinner and the whole family is waiting for you! Mo! Stop sleeping!”
He shouted until his throat was nearly hoarse, but the door remained closed. As he continued knocking, the neighbor’s door across the hall opened. “I wasn’t knocking on that door, why did that one open?” Before he could ask, the neighbor said, “Young man, stop knocking. There’s no one there.”
“No one? Ma’am, how do you know?”
“I woke up for my morning exercise and saw that handsome young man all dressed up and leaving. Oh my, how can someone be so good-looking?” While the lady continued to praise Ye Mo’s looks, Dongfang Yongxiao realized something was wrong.
“Thank you, Ma’am.” He hurried downstairs, calling the Dongfang family as he went. “Hello, Auntie? My sister-in-law isn’t home! The neighbor said he went out early this morning. Has he arrived at our house yet?”
“No. If he were here, wouldn’t I have called you to come back? This child, where could he have gone? He’s not answering his phone either.”
Sensing it wasn’t a simple matter, Dongfang Yongxiao tried to call Dongfang Jin, but neither of the couple’s phones were getting through. “Brother! Pick up the phone! Your wife is missing!” He repeatedly dialed while wearing his Bluetooth headset in the car.
But as luck would have it, Dongfang Jin was currently performing a major surgery in Japan. He had no time to answer; his phone merely flashed and vibrated on his desk.
Dongfang Yongxiao hung up and drove toward the Ye Group. He jumped out of the car and ran to the front desk. “Miss, I’m looking for Ye Mo.”
“I’m sorry, sir, Young Master Mo is not in today.”
Not in? Then he’d have to bother the others. “Is anyone else from the Ye family here? Help me contact one of them.”
“I’m sorry, sir, do you have an appointment?”
“No! but this is an emergency!”
“I’m sorry, without an appointment, we cannot contact them for you.”
Dongfang Yongxiao was nearly fuming at the receptionist when someone walked over and asked, “What’s going on?”
“Young Master Huan, this person doesn’t have an appointment but insists on seeing someone.” As soon as Dongfang Yongxiao heard this, he turned and locked eyes with Ye Huan. He quickly asked, “Are you Ye Mo’s brother?”
“And you are?” Ye Huan looked at the man before him, finding a slight resemblance to Dongfang Jin.
“I’m Dongfang Yongxiao, Dongfang Jin’s eighth brother. Where is Ye Mo?”
“Mo isn’t at home? He didn’t come to the office today.”
Dongfang Yongxiao finally had a confirmed answer. He continued, “He’s not answering his phone. Would he have gone back to the Ye family residence?”
“I’ll call and check.” Ye Huan walked to a corner to call home. A few minutes later, he returned to Dongfang Yongxiao. “Mo isn’t at home.”
Now Dongfang Yongxiao really panicked. He said to Ye Huan, “Ye Mo is completely out of contact. We need to find him now, or I really don’t know what my brother will do when he finds out.”
“What exactly happened?”
Dongfang Yongxiao explained everything that had happened that morning to Ye Huan.
“Fine, I’ll help you look. That little brat, where could he have disappeared to?”
The two split up. Ye Huan went to Ye Mo’s apartment to check the surveillance footage for any clues. Dongfang Yongxiao continued trying to call Dongfang Jin to tell him what was happening.
Ye Huan arrived at the apartment complex in a hurry. He went to the security room and demanded to see the footage. After initial resistance, the guards stopped blocking him once he identified himself as the Third Young Master of the Ye Group.
“Master Huan, the footage for today is here.”
“Play it.”
After a while, he saw Ye Mo exit his front door, go down to the garage, and drive his car out. Seeing this, Ye Huan bolted out of the security room and headed straight for the underground garage.
After searching for a long time, he found Ye Mo’s car parked perfectly in its spot. He returned to the security room to continue watching the footage until he saw the shadow of Ye Mo’s car again.
Ye Huan held his breath to see who stepped out of the car. When the person emerged, Ye Huan noticed a familiar aura about the man’s posture, and he suddenly knew exactly where to find Ye Mo.
After many missed calls, Dongfang Jin finally saw his phone. “Hello, Old Eighth, what’s wrong?”
“Brother! Your wife is gone!”
Those words exploded in Dongfang Jin’s head like a bomb.
“Yongxiao, slow down. Tell me slowly.”
Dongfang Yongxiao recounted the morning’s events. Immediately, a location flashed in Dongfang Jin’s mind. He said to Yongxiao, “There is one place where you will definitely find Mo. I’ll text it to you.”
Just after hanging up, Dongfang Yongxiao received a text with four words: “Xina Manor.”
