Husband, Let Your Husband Treat Your Illness - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, yet someone has gone missing. What a mess.
Ye Huan was already speeding toward Ye Xi’s manor. Along the way, he kept asking himself: What exactly is Big Brother trying to do? Although he didn’t know the specifics yet, he had a gut feeling that Ye Mo’s sudden disappearance was definitely linked to Ye Xi.
Meanwhile, after receiving the address from Dongfang Jin, Dongfang Yongxiao also drove there immediately, arriving almost at the same time as Ye Huan. When he saw Ye Huan getting out of his car, his doubts about this location were seemingly confirmed.
“How did you know about this place?” Dongfang Yongxiao asked.
Due to pride, it was hard for Ye Huan to admit to him that this was his brother’s manor, so he answered vaguely, “I tracked it down. Let’s go in.”
Upon entering, they were met with the same well-trained servants bowing and smiling. Dongfang Yongxiao felt an uneasy sensation rising in his chest, and even Ye Huan felt a sense of dread.
“Master Huan, the Eldest Young Master will be down shortly. And this gentleman is…?”
“This is Dongfang Yongxiao. You can address him as Master Dongfang.”
“Understood. Would you like coffee or something else?”
“Coffee is fine.”
Dongfang Yongxiao finally understood this was the manor belonging to Ye Mo’s eldest brother. But why would Dongfang Jin send him here? Was there truly a connection between this place and Ye Mo’s sudden disappearance?
Before long, Ye Xi came downstairs dressed in a formal suit, looking as if he were heading to the office. “Xiao Huan, what a rare guest. What brings you to my place today?”
“Brother, I’m here because of something urgent.” Ye Huan looked awkwardly at Dongfang Yongxiao, seemingly reluctant to let him overhear the conversation.
“Oh? You have business with me? And who is this?”
“Dongfang Yongxiao, Dongfang Jin’s eighth brother.”
At the mention of Dongfang Jin’s name, the corner of Ye Xi’s mouth twitched slightly. This subtle expression went unnoticed by others, but to a professional writer like Dongfang Yongxiao, it was clear as day. What is Ye Mo’s brother hiding? he wondered.
“I hope this matter has nothing to do with you, Brother,” Ye Huan said.
“What matters? You’ve got me all confused, kid.”
Just as Ye Huan was about to speak, Dongfang Yongxiao couldn’t hold back anymore and blurted out, “My sister-in-law is missing!”
Hearing this, Ye Xi’s expression instantly soured. “Where did this rude brat come from? What ‘sister-in-law’? Get out of here!”
“Brother! Ye Mo is Dongfang Jin’s lover. There’s nothing wrong with Yongxiao calling him that. Does Xiao Mo’s disappearance have anything to do with you?”
Ye Xi’s eyes darted around shiftily, but he remained stubborn. “Xiao Mo came by this morning, but he left afterward. I don’t know anything else.”
“Brother, stop lying to me. You know exactly where he is.” Ye Huan saw Ye Xi becoming increasingly defensive. “I checked the surveillance at Xiao Mo’s place. When his car was returned, it was your butler who drove it back. Are you still going to claim you have nothing to do with this?”
Ye Xi looked at Ye Huan with a cold, emotionless gaze. “Xiao Mo is not here. You are welcome to search for yourself. If you find him, I’ll have nothing to say. But if you don’t, you and this little friend of yours can get lost!”
Seeing his brother’s defiant stance, Ye Huan actually began searching the castle-like manor.
The manor was vast; even a casual walk around the grounds took nearly forty minutes. It took Ye Huan and Dongfang Yongxiao a full ninety minutes to check every room and call out his name. They even searched the topmost attic but came up empty-handed. When they returned to the starting point, they had found nothing.
“Well, my dear Third Young Master, did you find any trace of Mo?”
“…” Ye Huan panted heavily, glaring at the man standing condescendingly before him.
“Ye Mo did come here, but he left on foot later, saying he wanted to clear his head and reconsider this abnormal relationship with Dongfang Jin,” Ye Xi lied through his teeth without a hint of guilt or remorse. “I’m sure he won’t do anything foolish. Don’t waste your energy; the brat will come back once he figures things out.”
Knowing his brother’s personality well, Ye Huan didn’t press further and walked out with Dongfang Yongxiao to figure out another plan. They hadn’t gone far before they began discussing their strategy. “I’ll keep an eye on my brother. You go back and comfort the Dongfang family,” Ye Huan suggested.
“We searched for so long and found nothing. Do you still suspect him?”
“My brother has always doted on Mo the most. Now that Mo is missing, my brother isn’t worried at all. Either Ye Mo is perfectly safe, or my brother is the one behind this.”
Dongfang Yongxiao was puzzled. “Why would you believe the latter over the former?”
“Because he would only be truly safe if my brother were the one in control.” Dongfang Yongxiao was speechless, but he knew Ye Huan was right.
Ye Huan stayed behind to watch the manor, while Dongfang Yongxiao rushed back to the Dongfang compound. As soon as he pushed the door open, he was grabbed by a pair of large hands.
“Yongxiao, where is your sister-in-law? Where is he?” Dongfang Jin looked behind Yongxiao, but the person he longed for wasn’t there. “Where is he? Didn’t you find him?”
“Brother! Why are you back? Weren’t you supposed to be in Japan for a few more days?” Dongfang Yongxiao was being squeezed so hard he could barely speak.
“Tell me! Where is Ye Mo?”
“Brother, calm down first. Let me go.”
Dongfang Jin realized how much force he was using and quickly let go. “Sorry, Old Eighth. I’m just too anxious.”
“Brother, Ye Huan and I went to the manor and found nothing. But Ye Huan is still there watching. He’ll alert us the moment something happens.”
“No, I have to go there now!”
“Brother! What’s the use of going now? If that manor is under lockdown, you won’t even get through the gates.” Dongfang Yongxiao was much calmer and more rational than his brother.
“He’s right, Xiao Jin. It’s late. I won’t feel at ease if you go looking for Xiao Mo like this,” Chi Yuan added. But Dongfang Jin wasn’t listening to anyone.
Just then, Dongfang Yongxiao’s phone rang. “Okay… okay, we’re coming right now.” He hung up and turned to Dongfang Jin. “Brother, Ye Huan says a car just left the manor it’s Ye Xi’s private vehicle. He’s tailing it and told us to hurry.”
“Let’s go! Quickly!” Dongfang Jin urged.
Ye Huan followed the car as it twisted and turned through the streets, clearly trying to shake him off. Sensing something was wrong, Ye Huan sped up and cut the car off.
He stepped out and approached the vehicle, only to see the driver step out.
“Butler Li? Why are you here? Where is my brother?”
“The Eldest Young Master hasn’t left the manor. I’ve been driving this car.”
“A diversion?”
Realizing he had been tricked, Ye Huan called Dongfang Yongxiao immediately. “Go back to the manor! Mo isn’t in this car!”
Both parties rushed back to the manor. Initially, the servants tried to block them, but they didn’t dare stop the Third Young Master of the Ye family.
“Ye Huan! Didn’t you already search this whole place?” Dongfang Jin joined Ye Huan and Dongfang Yongxiao in searching the massive estate.
“We did, but I feel like we must have missed something.” Suddenly, Dongfang Jin spotted a passage leading underground.
“Yongxiao, Ye Huan, look at that!”
“A secret passage!” they exclaimed in unison. They wondered how they had missed it before, but Dongfang Jin had already dashed inside.
At the end of the passage was a massive hidden space. It was clean and equipped with the best of everything, suggesting it was meant for living. However, the place had been ransacked. “What happened here?”
Dongfang Jin found a leather shoe on the floor. It was a custom-made pair he had bought specifically for Ye Mo, the only one of its kind in the world. Clutching the shoe tightly, Dongfang Jin’s voice trembled with tears. “Mo! Where are you?”
“Brother, Sister-in-law will be fine.”
“Jin, we’ll help you. Don’t worry.”
“Mo!” Dongfang Jin collapsed to his knees, only to see a patch of blood on the floor. He stared at it, dazed. “Is this… Mo’s blood?”
“Jin, don’t worry about that. My brother wouldn’t let Mo bleed even if he had to bleed himself.”
“Brother, get up. Panicking won’t help.”
While the three were reeling in the manor, Ye Mo was already in a car with Ye Xi, heading for the airport. “You brat! All I did was stop you from seeing him, and you actually slashed yourself with a fruit knife? Was that really necessary?” Ye Xi yelled.
“Yes. Absolutely, completely, and utterly necessary.”
“Brat! I’m your brother! You need to know who your real family is!” Ye Xi roared.
“Where are you taking me?”
“I’ve bought you a plane ticket to Japan. Once you arrive, someone will take your passport and keep an eye on you.”
“Brother, do you really have to go this far?” Ye Mo looked at his brother, his eyes burning with fury.
“For your sake, it’s worth it.”
