Husband, Let Your Husband Treat Your Illness - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
Half a month later, Ye Mo thanks to his remarkably stubborn willpower and healing ability—had finally recovered from his injuries. He could walk freely and nimbly again, yet he remained “confined” at home by Dongfang Jin, rarely allowed to step out.
“Dongfang Jin! Let me go out, okay? I’m going stir-crazy staying home these past few days.” Actually, it was Dongfang Jin who was about to go crazy. For the longest time, Ye Mo had used the previous incident at the police station as an excuse to bar Dongfang Jin from any “intimate contact,” resulting in our great Doctor Dongfang sleeping in the study or on the sofa for over half a month.
“Mo, your body has just recovered. It’s not advisable to walk around too much. What if you have a relapse?” Dongfang Jin used a very high-sounding excuse, all to keep Ye Mo from leaving so he could stay peacefully by his side.
“The doctor clearly said to exercise more. How did it turn into ‘imperial orders’ to stay still once it passed through your mouth?” The doctor had indeed said that more exercise would aid recovery, but Dongfang Jin, taking advantage of being a doctor himself, stubbornly refused to let Ye Mo out. Consequently, Ye Mo had no choice but to take out his frustrations on Dongfang Jin every day.
“Mo, I want to take you to meet my family. It’s still early to come home with me today.” Dongfang Jin’s face was almost pressed against Ye Mo’s, his large, sincere eyes looking nothing like the usually “sly” Dongfang Jin.
“Today? Then let me get ready. I can’t let you lose face in front of your family, can I?” As Ye Mo spoke, he caught the knowing smile spreading across Dongfang Jin’s face.
With that, Ye Mo went into the room to tidy himself up and begin dressing. Meanwhile, Dongfang Jin called his family to report that he was bringing Ye Mo home, telling them to get the house ready.
The moment Ye Mo emerged from the room after finishing his preparations, Dongfang Jin’s eyes went wide.
He was wearing a black-and-gold Armani Haute Couture suit with peacock-gold embroidery. One look and it screamed “expensive,” but on Ye Mo, “expensive” wasn’t the only word it was “noble.” He truly looked the part of a wealthy young aristocrat. Though the brand of his leather shoes was unrecognizable to Dongfang Jin, any brand he didn’t know was bound to be incredibly pricey, far beyond what he could personally afford.
“What is it? Why are you looking at me like that? Is there something on my face?” Ye Mo ignored him and checked himself in the mirror, admiring his own demonically beautiful, exquisite, and charming face.
“No, Mo… you look far too good in this.”
Ye Mo had heard such praise countless times before, but it had been a long while. Nursing his injuries for a month had made him almost forget the texture of these clothes. “It’s nothing. This outfit is actually one of the more low-key ones in my wardrobe.”
Dongfang Jin knew Ye Mo wasn’t lying. One look at Ye Mo’s dazzling, unimaginable walk-in closet would prove that.
After much fuss, the two finally stepped out of the house. To their surprise, a woman was waiting downstairs. Upon seeing Ye Mo, she rushed forward and hugged him.
“Mo! I’ve been waiting for you down here for so long. I was getting so anxious—can’t you show me a little concern?”
The woman’s coquettish voice sent waves of goosebumps down Ye Mo’s skin. Dongfang Jin watched the scene, sensing something was definitely off, so he didn’t lash out immediately.
“Miss, who are you? Do we know each other?” Ye Mo asked.
“Mo, you’re really heartless. Didn’t you tell me just the other day that you were going to buy me a house? Have you forgotten already?”
Hearing this, Dongfang Jin was trying his best to stifle a laugh, but he couldn’t quite help himself. Seeing the person’s ridiculous act, Ye Mo said, “Stop laughing. Hurry up and deal with this lady. I’m going to the car. Settle it quickly; I don’t have much patience, as you know.”
With that, Ye Mo pulled his hand away from the mysterious woman and walked straight to the car. The woman tried to chase after him, but Dongfang Jin blocked her path. “Get lost! I’m looking for Ye Mo. What does it have to do with you?”
“Miss, please watch your language. Ye Mo is my partner now, so I have the duty, responsibility, and right to handle everything for him. Regarding what you just said, I find it quite problematic. While Mo was recovering, I had possession of his phone. How is it that I didn’t know he was sending you messages?” Dongfang Jin’s string of words left the woman speechless. “Before things get even more unsightly, please leave.”
“Dongfang Jin, have you no shame? Do you think Ye Mo could truly love you? He’s just playing with you right now.” The woman’s voice was very soft, but her words stabbed into Dongfang Jin’s heart like a knife. “Don’t forget, Ye Mo didn’t like men to begin with.”
“Miss, it seems you are very well-informed about our business. I don’t know who sent you, but I hope you go back and tell that person to stop doing such boring things. Furthermore, I am not someone to be trifled with.” Ignoring the woman standing in the cold wind, Dongfang Jin slammed the car door and drove away in a cloud of dust.
“What did that woman say? It took so long,” Ye Mo asked with concern.
“Nothing, just some useless nonsense. My family has wanted to meet you for a while.” Although Dongfang Jin acted nonchalant, what the woman had said did indeed affect his mood.
In a somewhat unhappy atmosphere, they arrived at the Dongfang family compound. Ye Mo had been exhausted during the drive and had fallen fast asleep as soon as he got in the car; Dongfang Jin had to wake him up.
As they got out, they saw the entire Dongfang clan young and old waiting at the entrance to welcome them. Ye Mo was a bit overwhelmed and stayed close to Dongfang Jin, hardly daring to breathe.
“Grandpa, Grandma, why did you all come out? Mo is just here for a visit; why such a grand reception?” Dongfang Jin had a bit of a headache seeing the scale of this, but it was fine—it allowed Ye Mo to see their massive family firsthand.
“This is… all your family?” Ye Mo couldn’t quite believe it. Such a huge family, and they were all Dongfang Jin’s relatives.
“Let’s go inside first. It’s too cold out here, hurry up.” Thus, with laughter and chatter, they entered the house.
Once inside, the Dongfang family’s enthusiasm took Ye Mo by surprise. They were either offering him water, urging him to sit down, telling Dongfang Jin to take good care of him, or inviting him to visit more often. It was a chaotic, lively scene.
“Mo, let me introduce you. These are my Grandfather and Grandmother—the supreme leaders of our family.”
“Hello, Grandpa! Hello, Grandma!”
“These are my Father and Mother, both medical experts in the country.”
“Hello, Uncle. Hello, Auntie.” Ye Mo used his excellent upbringing to craft an extremely kind smile, handling the Dongfang crowd with ease.
“These are my second, third, fourth, and seventh uncles and aunts. Except for my sixth uncle and aunt who live in Europe year-round, the rest of the elders work at the hospital. You’ll have the chance to meet them all later.” Dongfang Jin greeted each elder in the house one by one.
“Big Brother! Big Sister-in-law! It’s finally our turn.” As soon as Dongfang Yi said this, Ye Mo’s face darkened. Big Sister-in-law!? You actually have the nerve to say that. Just watch how I deal with you.
Dongfang Jin sensed the trace of “malice” beneath Ye Mo’s exquisite exterior but chose not to warn his cousin. “This is Dongfang Yi, the second oldest among the cousins, son of my second uncle. And this is Dongfang Yongxiao, his younger brother.”
“Big Brother, if you introduce us like that, we’ll be here forever. Let’s just introduce ourselves one by one by age.”
“Fine, fine.”
“Dongfang Yongxiao, the youngest son of the second branch, ranked eighth in the family.” “Dongfang Yi, ranked second in the family.” “Dongfang You, ranked third, Yongxiao’s older sister and Dongfang Yi’s younger sister.”
“Hello, hello,” Ye Mo shook hands and exchanged pleasantries with each of them.
“Dongfang Quan, ranked fourth, son of the third uncle. I’m a lawyer; feel free to contact me with any legal issues.” “Dongfang An, ranked fifth in the family.”
After the introductions, Ye Mo was clearly a bit tired. He had finally managed to recognize everyone in the Dongfang family.
“Dongfang Jin, why are there so many people in your family? Memorizing all these names and matching them to faces is exhausting,” Ye Mo whispered into Dongfang Jin’s ear. Dongfang Jin responded with a faint smile.
“Xiao Mo, come to Grandma.” The old Mrs. Dongfang called Ye Mo over. Ye Mo was very obedient and hurried over immediately. “Xiao Mo, Xiao Jin has many flaws. He’s obsessive, a chatterbox, and a bit willful. You’ll have to take good care of him.”
Dongfang Jin broke into a cold sweat. Why are the parents on both sides the same? They both saw only the faults in their own children while seeing others’ children as excellent.
“That’s right, Xiao Mo. If Xiao Jin ever bullies you in the future, just come tell Grandpa. See if I don’t set him straight.”
“Exactly, Xiao Mo, just come to us. Your Uncle will stand up for you.”
“Yes, Xiao Mo, you’re willing to take this ‘old bachelor’ off our hands—it’s his good fortune.”
“Mom, Dad, am I really that terrible?” Dongfang Jin looked at his parents, truly doubting if he was biological.
“Uncle, Auntie, Dongfang Jin is very good to me. He’s been the one taking care of me while I was injured.”
“How did you get injured? Xiao Jin, did you not look after Xiao Mo properly?”
“I’ve been wronged! He got injured because… forget it, I’d better not speak.”
“It wasn’t his fault. Last time, he even brought me bone soup stewed at home. It was truly delicious.”
“Auntie stewed some today too. Eat well later!”
After a while, the family meal began. The Dongfang family tradition was for everyone to eat together, so by dinner time, the elders and cousins who hadn’t been present earlier had arrived.
“Ye Mo? That’s a beautiful name. Big Brother, it’s your luck to have found such a treasure,” Dongfang Mingliang remarked.
Ye Mo didn’t take those words to heart; he was focused on pouring bottle after bottle of beer into Dongfang Yi’s stomach. “Come, Xiao Yi, let’s drink. Your ‘Big Sister-in-law’ felt a connection with you the moment we met.” Although he looked perfectly friendly, who knew how much “poison” was hidden in those words?
Ye Mo, using his recent recovery as an excuse, didn’t touch a drop of alcohol, yet he kept pouring for Dongfang Yi. Dongfang Jin, seeing this from the side, didn’t intervene at all; he simply helped his “wife” pour more for his cousin.
The surrounding elders assumed Ye Mo and Dongfang Yi truly hit it off. Seeing the scene, they didn’t try to stop it at all. In fact, when Dongfang Yi was about to give up, they even said, “Xiao Yi, you can’t even handle this much? How can you show your face?”
By the end of the banquet, Dongfang Yi was the one who had been “trashed” the most.
“What did the Second Brother even say? Why was he poured so much?” “I heard he called him ‘Big Sister-in-law’ right to his face!” “Seems that’s a forbidden zone for our ‘Big Sister-in-law’.” “This ‘Big Sister-in-law’ is no pushover.” “I’m breaking a sweat for Big Brother.”
