How I Accidentally Bent My Best Friend - Chapter 70.2
Chen Yushu paused, gritting her teeth and holding back, but that only encouraged Lu Wei to push further.
“Do you have a death wish?!” Chen Yushu threw the umbrella aside, grabbed the back of Lu Wei’s collar, and hissed through clenched teeth, “Having fun?”
Lu Wei turned to look at her, smiling innocently. “Yeah, it’s fun.”
“You!” Chen Yushu had no way to deal with her, angrily tightening her grip on Lu Wei’s clothes. Lu Wei stumbled and bumped into her shoulder with a laugh.
“Get lost! You’re so irritating!” Chen Yushu quickly let go and stepped aside.
The performance still had a while to go. Unable to stand the damp heat, Chen Yushu decided to head back to the hotel to change clothes before rejoining Chen Sinan and the others.
“Achoo!”
Just as Chen Yushu finished changing, she heard a sneeze from nearby. She couldn’t help but glance over. “Serves you right for playing in the rain. Caught a cold, didn’t you?”
“Who says I have a cold?” Lu Wei shook out her wet hair, running her fingers through it carelessly. “A little rain like this can’t do anything to me.”
Chen Yushu immediately shot her a glare. Just then, Chen Sinan sent a message saying the performance had ended and invited them over for dinner.
Upon arriving at the destination, Chen Sinan led the two into the restaurant. “The weather here is just like this it changes in the blink of an eye. Did you get drenched?”
“We didn’t really get wet, but there was this annoying person.” As she spoke, Chen Yushu shot a sharp look at someone.
Lu Wei pouted. “The rain was so heavy, even if I hadn’t done anything, you wouldn’t have stayed completely dry.”
“Hah, so you think you’re in the right?”
Lu Wei didn’t dare to argue outright and subtly nodded instead.
Chen Sinan laughed. “Alright, alright, as long as you don’t catch a cold.”
Just then, someone approached them it was Xu An. “Over here.”
“Okay.” Chen Sinan stepped forward and walked side by side with her.
Once seated, the dishes arrived quickly. The warm yellow lighting made the roast duck glisten with a golden, enticing hue. In the center of the table, a pot of sour radish and old duck soup simmered, its aroma alone enough to whet the appetite.
“Dig in, try it and see how it tastes,” Chen Sinan said. “This place is pretty authentic. Back in our sophomore year, Xu An and I used to come here often. The only downside is it’s always packed, so every time.”
“So good, so good!” Lu Wei didn’t hold back and eagerly dug in. “Chen Yushu, this sauce is amazing, you have to try it!”
Chen Yushu replied, “Got it. Can’t you eat without talking so much?”
“My kindness is thrown back in my face,” Lu Wei huffed, then turned to Chen Sinan. “By the way, Sinan-jie, Xu An-jie, how did you two meet?”
Xu An glanced at Chen Sinan and couldn’t help but smile as she reminisced. “At the time, I was still in another band and went to perform at her school. Then ahem, she took the initiative to add me on WeChat.”
“Wipe that smug look off your face,” Chen Sinan clicked her tongue in mock annoyance. “I’d actually seen you before that. Hmph, bet you didn’t know that.”
To her surprise, Xu An didn’t seem taken aback and instead asked, “Are you talking about the Starlight Bar? Did you have fun?”
Chen Sinan was stunned. “How did you know?”
“Guess.” Xu An leaned closer and gave her a meaningful look. “So, you already had your eye on me back then?”
“Cough, cough.” Chen Sinan’s eyes widened, and she turned to shoot Xu An a warning glance.
Catching the hint, Xu An immediately straightened up and resumed her usual composed demeanor.
Chen Yushu keenly picked up on the sudden shift in atmosphere and couldn’t help but look up, studying the two of them.
Could it really be like Jiang Yuran said was she seeing something that wasn’t there?
Chen Yushu quickly shook her head, dismissing the thought, and muttered an apology under her breath.
Lu Wei listened to their exchange with great interest, then let out a drawn-out, suggestive “Oh~”
“What she meant was, she already had the idea of forming a band with me back then,” Chen Yushu explained after taking a sip of soup.
Lu Wei nodded. “Oh~”
“You two.” Chen Sinan chuckled helplessly. “Don’t overthink it. There’s still so much food hurry up and eat.”
“Alright!”
As they continued eating, Lu Wei started feeling colder and colder. She realized the air conditioner was now aimed directly at her, blasting chilly air that made her nose run.
Fortunately, they were almost done with the meal.
Stepping out of the air-conditioned room, the sweltering summer heat hit them like a wave. The contrast between the cold inside and the heat outside was uncomfortable, and as a breeze swept by, Lu Wei’s head began to ache faintly.
This condition persisted all the way to the hotel. Overwhelmed by fatigue, Lu Wei lay straight down on the bed and closed her eyes.
“What’s wrong? Tired?” Chen Yushu asked.
“It’s over, Chen Yushu. It seems you were right,” Lu Wei mumbled. “I’ve caught a cold.”
Chen Yushu silently watched her for a few seconds before coldly uttering two words, “Serves you right.”
“Do you even have a heart?”
“You brought this on yourself. You deserve to suffer.” Chen Yushu approached and touched her forehead. “You’re a bit warm. Could it be a fever? Get up and let’s check your temperature.”
“It’s fine. I’ll be okay after a nap. We can deal with it tomorrow.”
Lu Wei struggled to prop herself up, took a shower, and came out feeling so dizzy that she collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
Chen Yushu sat on the edge of the bed, tucked the blanket snugly around her, and pressed the back of her hand against Lu Wei’s forehead to check her temperature.
Fortunately, it wasn’t too hot. Hopefully, she’d be fine by tomorrow.
However, before the next morning even arrived, the situation took a turn for the worse.
At first, Chen Yushu vaguely heard the rustling from the neighboring bed, followed by Lu Wei’s faint, whimpering moans. Gradually, Chen Yushu stirred awake, eventually forcing herself to fully rouse.
All the sounds suddenly became crystal clear.
She softly called Lu Wei’s name but received no response.
Chen Yushu had no choice but to get up, turn on the small bedside nightlight, walk over to Lu Wei’s bed, and lean down to take a look.
She saw that Lu Wei’s blanket had somehow slipped down to her waist, and the air conditioner vent was blowing directly on her. Yet, her face was flushed bright red, and her breathing was somewhat labored.
As soon as Chen Yushu placed her hand on Lu Wei’s forehead, she was startled by the heat. Taking her temperature, it read 38.7°C.
Remembering she had packed some cold medicine in her suitcase, she quickly retrieved it, opened a bottle of mineral water, and then went to wake Lu Wei.
Lu Wei’s eyes cracked open slightly, hovering between sleep and wakefulness, mumbling incoherently.
“What?” Chen Yushu leaned in to hear better. Instantly, the scorching breath from Lu Wei’s mouth and nose hit her ear. Suppressing her discomfort, Chen Yushu barely made out that Lu Wei was asking for water.
Chen Yushu patted her cheek. “Wake up. Here’s some water.”
Lu Wei groggily opened her eyes and hummed in acknowledgment through her nose.
Chen Yushu helped her sit up, leaning against her chest, then brought the mineral water bottle to Lu Wei’s lips. “Drink slowly.”
After gulping down about half the bottle, Lu Wei closed her eyes, tilted her head, and rested it on Chen Yushu’s shoulder, seemingly about to fall back asleep.
“Wait, take your medicine first.” Chen Yushu hurriedly pried her mouth open, trying to slip the pill inside.
Lu Wei frowned, dodged, and whimpered in discomfort.
“Serves you right for not listening and bringing this on yourself.” Chen Yushu sighed helplessly and patiently coaxed, “You have a fever. If you don’t take the medicine, you might end up burning your brains out.”
As if understanding, Lu Wei cooperatively opened her mouth and swallowed the pill.
After laying her back down and readjusting the blanket, Chen Yushu watched her for a moment before going to the bathroom to wet a towel.
When she returned, she found Lu Wei’s blanket had slipped down to her waist again, and her sleeping posture was far from proper.
“Even burning up like this, you still can’t stay still.” Chen Yushu pulled the blanket up and tucked it tightly around her, then poked her cheek warningly. “No more moving around, got it?”
As if deliberately defying her, just as Chen Yushu placed the towel on her forehead, Lu Wei pulled her hand out and began tugging at the blanket again.
“Lu Wei!” Chen Yushu gritted his teeth, planted his hands on his hips, and glared at the person on the bed. But seeing how pitiful she looked in her sickly state, he could only sigh and let it go. He then sat by the bedside, repeatedly tucking the blanket around her.
Staying like this wasn’t a solution. Chen Yushu’s patience was wearing thin. When Lu Wei kicked the covers off yet again, she paused for a moment, then got up, walked around to the other side of the bed, pulled back the covers, climbed in, and pinned the other woman against her chest before yanking the quilt back over them.
“Go ahead, keep it up if you dare.”
The person in her arms squirmed restlessly, but constrained by the external force, her movements gradually weakened.
Finally settling down, Chen Yushu was so exhausted that as soon as her eyelids drooped, she sank into a deep sleep.
Her entire body felt as if it were on fire, radiating heat. Struggling awake, Chen Yushu realized she was drenched in sweat the bed had turned into a sauna.
Beside her, Lu Wei’s breathing was steady and even. Chen Yushu reached out to touch her forehead and found it less feverish than before. Relieved, she shifted to the other side, intending to go back to sleep.
Just then, Lu Wei rolled over and began to mumble softly.
“What’s wrong now?” Chen Yushu fought off her drowsiness and strained to listen. “Hot?”
The next moment, Lu Wei kicked her leg, sending half the quilt sliding off the bed.
“…”
“Lu Wei, are you doing this on purpose?”
The groggy figure on the bed naturally didn’t respond. No matter how annoyed Chen Yushu felt, there was nothing she could do but resign herself to repeating her earlier tactic.
As soon as she moved closer, Lu Wei pressed against her, limbs wrapping around her. Though soft and pliant, she clung tightly, making it difficult to shake her off.
After struggling to pull the quilt back up, Chen Yushu lay down, panting from exertion. But the person on top of her refused to relent, rubbing against her in a chaotic, uncoordinated manner.
“Get off! Lu Wei, get off me!”
The twin bed was small. No sooner had she pushed Lu Wei away than the woman latched onto her again within seconds more stubborn than adhesive plaster.
Even sick, she was this much of a handful!
Sweat beaded on Chen Yushu’s forehead. Finally, she gave up and lay flat, determined to see what else Lu Wei intended to do.
As soon as she stopped moving, Lu Wei stilled as well, except for her feverish cheek, which kept nuzzling against Chen Yushu’s collarbone. She mumbled something unintelligible, her warm, moist breath washing over Chen Yushu’s skin.
Waves of tingling sensations shot through Chen Yushu. She hunched her shoulders, trying to evade the contact, her breathing growing slightly ragged. “Lu Wei, you… what are you doing?!”
At some point, Lu Wei’s hand had slipped beneath her clothes. Her palm was scorching hot, pressed firmly against Chen Yushu’s waist—the sensation unmistakable.
Startled, Chen Yushu reached out abruptly, intending to shove her off.
Just then, that burning heat descended upon her lips. Chen Yushu’s breath hitched. In the next instant, the sensation of something soft and dry pressed against her mouth and paused.
Chen Yushu’s eyes widened in shock. All her senses converged on that single point. Before she could react, Lu Wei suddenly captured her lower lip, then impatiently parted her lips and swept inside, exploring recklessly.
Everything that was happening was completely beyond Chen Yushu’s expectations. For a moment, she was frozen in sheer astonishment, her body rigid on the bed, unmoving.
Seemingly satisfied after drinking her fill of the moisture in Chen Yushu’s mouth, Lu Wei finally withdrew but didn’t stop. Instead, she continued to wander along Chen Yushu’s neck.
Her soft lips occasionally brushed against Chen Yushu’s skin, her scorching breath seeming to ignite every nerve ending.
Finally snapping back to reality, Chen Yushu could take no more. She pushed forcefully at the person on top of her. “Lu Wei, stop nibbling! get off!”
After a prolonged struggle, Lu Wei finally stilled, resting her head on Chen Yushu’s shoulder as she breathed slowly in and out.
The room fell into a sudden silence, where even the faintest sounds could no longer hide. The scenes from earlier began replaying in her mind, and Chen Yushu’s body temperature soared, almost matching the warmth beneath the covers.
Gripping the edge of the bed, Chen Yushu slowly calmed the heavy rise and fall of her chest. After what felt like an eternity, she softly called Lu Wei’s name, her voice barely a whisper.
But Lu Wei had long fallen silent, already deep in slumber.
Chen Yushu bit her lip, feeling a mix of relief and an indescribable emotion stirring within her.
The night was quiet, and after much turmoil, it finally settled into peace. Yet, sleep eluded her.
Lu Wei’s arm still rested around her waist. By the faint light in the room, Chen Yushu’s gaze swept over Lu Wei’s face, inch by inch, lingering on her overly flushed lips bright from the fever until she became entranced.
A thought stirred in Chen Yushu’s heart, growing stronger and more intense, almost overwhelming her reason.
In the end, she couldn’t resist the fervent longing. Propping herself up, she hovered in place for a long while, holding her breath. With every slight movement closer, the pounding of her heart betrayed her tension.
Just then, Lu Wei’s eyelids twitched.
Instantly, Chen Yushu felt all the blood in her body rush to her head, her adrenaline spiking. She didn’t dare move an inch.
All her courage vanished completely. Unable to bear it any longer, Chen Yushu slipped quietly out of bed and returned to her original sleeping spot.
By the time she finally fell asleep, she had no idea how late it was.
The next morning, Chen Yushu was awakened by the ringing of her phone. As soon as she opened her eyes, she heard Lu Wei calling her in a hoarse voice. Puzzled, she turned her gaze and immediately met the eyes from the neighboring bed.
Instantly, the events of the previous night flooded her mind.
