How I Accidentally Bent My Best Friend - Chapter 46.1
It was Lu Wei’s desk, cluttered with snacks, cosmetics, and all sorts of miscellaneous items piled haphazardly together a complete mess, practically a miniature garbage dump.
Chen Yushu immediately averted her eyes in disgust, wondering what Lu Wei was up to. Yet, after a long while, Lu Wei remained silent.
Without any context, Chen Yushu was utterly baffled and could only slowly send a question mark in response.
Did she not notice? Lu Wei wondered, opening the image. Wasn’t it obvious?
Just then, on the other end, Chen Yushu slowly caught on and immediately scolded: 【You jerk! You want me to clean up for you, don’t you? You’re so lazy, you might as well just drop dead!】
Oh no! Another point for laziness!
How did this happen?!
Lu Wei panicked, quickly grabbing her phone to type, 【Who told you to focus on that? Look up!】
Chen Yushu instinctively raised her head and spotted the bookshelf at once. It dawned on her, and she reopened the image, zooming in. The items on the bookshelf were arranged relatively neatly.
And then?
Chen Yushu sent another question mark.
I’ve hinted so clearly! Lu Wei was hopping mad with frustration and had no choice but to circle the second row of the bookshelf in the image. 【Take another look. Does it seem familiar?】
Chen Yushu patiently zoomed in for a closer look but was still completely in the dark. 【What exactly are you trying to do?】
Lu Wei squirmed frantically in her chair before finally resigning herself and speaking bluntly with a stern face: 【These are all the things you gave me. Didn’t you notice?】
Huh?
Chen Yushu raised an eyebrow, puzzled as she examined the two erasers and the ugly little trinket from the school store that cost fifty cents.
Oh, she remembered this snow globe. It was during the New Year in elementary school when she used her lucky money to play a ring toss game and spent nearly a hundred tries to win it.
As for the other items, Chen Yushu really couldn’t recall, so she sent yet another question mark.
But why had Lu Wei dug these things out? To reminisce about their childhood?
Lu Wei stared blankly at the question mark, took a deep breath, and called Chen Yushu. “You’ve really forgotten all of it?”
“…” Chen Yushu fell silent for a moment. “Ahem, it’s been so many years. Who could possibly remember?”
“You actually forgot.” Lu Wei sniffled sadly, picking up one of the erasers as she reminisced. “That time in art class, your former deskmate, that chubby kid, got jealous of our friendship and threw my eraser away.”
As Lu Wei recounted the story, Chen Yushu slowly remembered. After the chubby kid tossed the eraser, Lu Wei wasn’t one to take it lying down, she immediately threw the kid’s sketchbook away. The two of them started arguing fiercely, and it eventually escalated into a dispute over switching seats and winning affection.
Naturally, Lu Wei came out on top.
“Serves you right! Chen Yushu chose me, so stop dreaming. As long as I’m here, she’ll never like you!”
Seeing that class was about to start, Chen Yushu hurriedly calmed Lu Wei down and ran to the school store to buy two erasers.
However, it wasn’t until later that she found out the erasers she bought weren’t suitable for drawing. But back then, Lu Wei would take them out every day and place them in the most prominent spot on her desk, especially when the chubby kid walked by.
“Wow, the erasers Shushu bought me are so pretty”
“Thank you, Shushu, for buying me these erasers”
“Shushu is so good to me, even buying me little erasers”
“Looks like Shushu only bought it for me, unlike someone’s drawing book that they had to buy themselves”
That little chubby kid was so mad at her back then, but after they started middle school, those two erasers gradually faded from her view.
Lu Wei grew more and more smug as she spoke, slowly forgetting her original purpose. “Hmph, that little fatty thought he could compete with me? How delusional!”
“Lu Wei, are you that immature?” Chen Yushu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “You still remember that?”
“Of course!” Lu Wei said indignantly. “That little fatty even wanted to marry you back then. Hah, just daydreaming!”
“Alright, I have a meeting to attend soon. I’m hanging up now.”
“Hey, wait!” Lu Wei suddenly remembered why she had called in the first place and hurriedly said, “Well, besides those, I’ve kept all the things you gave me.”
Chen Yushu: “Oh.”
So? She still didn’t understand what Lu Wei was trying to do.
Just an “oh”? Lu Wei seriously doubted that Chen Yushu had no clue about her intentions.
She had carefully preserved all the gifts, treasuring them deeply, how could Chen Yushu not sense how much she valued them?
Chen Yushu, this clueless woman!
Forget it! Lu Wei put her hands on her hips, sulkily putting the things back in their place. Indirect hints had failed next time, she’d just go for a direct approach!
“Okay, Shushu, you should go now. Don’t overwork yourself! When will the meeting end? You must be hungry afterward let me order you some takeout. Is there anything you’d like to eat?”
Chen Yushu immediately got goosebumps and quickly checked the caller’s name on her phone. Had Lu Wei been possessed? Why was she acting like such a fawning sycophant?
“Uh, Lu Wei.”
“What is it, Shushu? I’m here.”
Chen Yushu took a deep breath. “Could you act normal?”
What did that mean? Lu Wei blinked in confusion. Was she being too enthusiastic, and Chen Yushu just wasn’t used to it? It seemed she really had been too distant usually.
“What are you talking about? I’m always like this.” Lu Wei played dumb, deciding to stick with the enthusiasm to warm Chen Yushu up. She was determined to succeed!
Beep!
The call ended abruptly.
Lu Wei stared blankly at her phone screen. Wasn’t Chen Yushu the cold one here?
The meeting was long and boring. At first, Chen Yushu listened attentively, but gradually, she couldn’t take it anymore and pulled out her phone. As soon as she opened it, Lu Wei’s messages took up half the screen.
Given Lu Wei’s bizarre behavior today, just seeing her name gave Chen Yushu a bit of PTSD. She had to brace herself for a while before daring to open the messages.
Lu Wei: [Shushu, I’m going to remove my makeup now, then I plan to take a shower.]
Lu Wei: [I’m back!]
Lu Wei: [I’m going to start on my homework now. Even though it’s not due for another week, I think as a college student, I should be more self-disciplined and diligent.]
Lu Wei: [Shushu, are you done with your meeting yet? Miss you so much, rose jpg×3]
The more Chen Yushu read, the tighter her frown became. What on earth was wrong with Lu Wei?
Seeing another message come in, Chen Yushu quickly turned off her phone. Actually, the meeting was quite interesting after all.
She had thought Lu Wei’s strange behavior would fade in a few days, but over the following period, it only grew worse.
Fortunately, Chen Yushu gradually got used to it, even though most of the time she was utterly baffled.
That day, she attended class as usual. Since the lecture wasn’t particularly demanding, she sat in the back row and couldn’t resist taking out her phone to check it. Strangely, Lu Wei hadn’t sent a single message.
Just then, the class bell rang speak of the devil.
Lu Wei: [I’m paying attention in class, not slacking off.]
Chen Yushu: [Well, you’re quite diligent then.]
On the other end, Lu Wei raised her eyebrows in pleasant surprise. See? Hard work pays off! Who wouldn’t like someone who’s diligent?
Lu Wei: [I’ll keep it up! shy jpg]
