How Could a Scumbag Alpha Possibly Love His Wife? - Chapter 76
Bai Juntang couldn’t help but pull her into an embrace after hearing her speak. She took one of her earbuds and gently placed it in her own ear, smiling softly as she said, “Let me listen too. You don’t mind, Suisui, do you?”
Cheng Wan gave her a helpless look and said, “Even if Suisui minds, there’s nothing she can do about you.”
Bai Juntang couldn’t hold back a smile, her eyes crinkling with amusement. She tightened her arms around Cheng Wan and said, “Oh, so now you’re teasing me too?”
Cheng Wan curled up in her arms, her eyes also curved with a sweet smile. The atmosphere was warm and just right. Bai Juntang looked at her and felt more affectionate with each glance. She leaned down while holding Cheng Wan close.
Their lips met gently, and their warm tongues intertwined.
The kiss was full of quiet affection. Cheng Wan held Bai Juntang’s hand tightly and obediently opened her mouth to kiss her back.
They were surrounded by the scent of each other’s pheromones. The sweet aroma made Bai Juntang’s heart race faster and faster. She almost couldn’t stop herself from pushing Cheng Wan down onto the bed.
After the intense kiss ended, Bai Juntang reached out and rubbed the corner of Cheng Wan’s eye. She looked at her lover’s lips, still flushed from the kiss, and asked softly, with a playful tone, “Should we go to bed early tonight?”
These past few days, they had been following the doctor’s instructions, exchanging pheromones every two or three days.
They were both young and always so affectionate.
To be honest, it was hard for either of them to hold back. Bai Juntang had been resisting her desires for a long time. Now she just wanted to bite her wife and maybe even make her cry a little.
Once a thought like that appears, it’s hard to ignore. Bai Juntang wrapped her arms around Cheng Wan, rubbing her leg against hers. Her hands were restless, slowly moving across Cheng Wan’s belly.
It wasn’t even clear whether she was touching Suisui or Cheng Wan herself.
Cheng Wan’s face turned completely red from the teasing. She was also deeply drawn into the intimacy between them. Her breathing was fast and heavy. She wanted to resist but couldn’t bring herself to. She could only bite her lip and stay silent.
Seeing how shy and overwhelmed Cheng Wan looked, Bai Juntang felt even more pleased. She gave up on playing prenatal music. After all, Suisui was still too young to understand anything.
This was their time now.
“Wait a minute…”
Cheng Wan was lying on the bed, pushing lightly against Bai Juntang’s shoulders. Her face was flushed as she looked at the woman above her and asked, “What did you do today when you went out?”
Bai Juntang was caught off guard. She lowered her head and kissed the tip of Cheng Wan’s nose. “Why are you suddenly asking that?”
“I just wanted to know,” Cheng Wan replied.
Her face looked even redder under the soft light. Her eyes were moist from the kiss, and her slightly open lips showed a glimpse of her pink tongue. It was a very tempting sight.
“I just went out to take care of some things,” Bai Juntang answered vaguely. Then she asked, “Are you sure this is the time to talk about something like that?”
Cheng Wan’s cheeks turned even redder. Bai Juntang leaned down and kissed her again.
Actually, Bai Juntang was worried that if Cheng Wan kept asking, she might accidentally say something she shouldn’t. Despite looking quiet and a little silly sometimes, Cheng Wan had sharp instincts. The first time she got close to Mu Ruchu, she had correctly guessed that she was an Omega. From that moment on, Bai Juntang knew her wife was very sensitive.
And not just emotionally. Her body was sensitive too.
Bai Juntang kept teasing her again and again before finally biting her neck to fully mark her with her pheromones.
By the end, Cheng Wan was too tired to speak. She curled into a ball and took deep breaths. Her skin was damp and warm, and it made Bai Juntang want to stay close and not let go.
In the days that followed, Bai Juntang became busy again. Cheng Wan saw Li Chen coming to their home frequently. Sometimes he came once a day, sometimes two or three times.
Cheng Wan even started wondering if the company would reimburse his fuel costs.
As summer came to an end, Cheng Wan’s poor appetite started to improve. In the evenings, she and Bai Juntang could go on short walks around their neighborhood. When her stomach felt good, they would invite Aunt Pei to go eat hotpot at the nearby shopping street.
Even with a happy life, Cheng Wan never forgot about cutting ties with the Cheng family.
One day, after it had rained, Li Chen came to their home again. He handed Bai Juntang a document wrapped in brown paper.
Bai Juntang sat down and opened the package. When she saw the contents, the frown on her face finally disappeared.
“So, this means everything with the Cheng family is finally over?” she said, looking at the official severance papers. She smiled at Li Chen and added, “You worked hard on this. You’ve been handling it for months. Take a week off and get some rest.”
Li Chen was clearly pleased. He smiled and said, “President Bai, you should let Miss Cheng know. She’ll be really happy.”
Bai Juntang agreed. She picked up the papers, planning to tell Cheng Wan the good news. Just as she was about to speak, her phone rang.
It was a call from the racing club manager.
As soon as she answered, the person on the line started yelling so loudly that Bai Juntang had to pull the phone away from her ear. Even then, she still heard him shouting excitedly, “Xiao Mu is back!”
Bai Juntang smiled helplessly. Li Chen couldn’t help laughing either. He said, “Then I’ll take my leave, President Bai.”
“Alright,” Bai Juntang replied, waving her hand as he left. Then she spoke into the phone. “I know. Didn’t I ask you to contact her already? Why are you so excited?”
The manager couldn’t help being excited. It had been almost half a year since Mu Ruchu disappeared.
In those six months, the once-popular Qiangu Racing Club had slowly lost its charm. It used to be such a large and lively racing venue. Now, almost no one came. Even the staff had grown numb and tired.
Most people thought the club was finished, just like so many others that had disappeared after policy changes. If Bai Juntang hadn’t been spending her own money to keep it running, it wouldn’t have lasted this long.
“Xiao Mu showed up today. Everyone at the club is so happy,” the manager said cheerfully. “Do you want to come see her train? We haven’t seen her on the track for months. She looks like she’s glowing.”
Bai Juntang smiled. “Is it really that amazing?”
“It’s true. If you have time, come by. We’re letting her rest for a bit, but then we’ll start her rehab training.”
Bai Juntang thought for a moment. She really did love racing. Whether it was watching or driving, she had always been passionate about it. But her work had kept her too busy to enjoy it as often as she liked. She couldn’t live on the track like Mu Ruchu.
And because of Cheng Wan, Bai Juntang hadn’t visited her own racing club in a long time. Hearing this made her feel that old excitement again.
“Alright,” Bai Juntang said with a smile. “You don’t mind if I bring my partner along, do you?”
“Hahaha, don’t be so polite. Bring as many as you want!”
Bai Juntang laughed and joked a bit more before ending the call. She picked up the folder in her hand and walked out of the study. Seeing Cheng Wan sitting at the dining table peeling garlic, she walked over.
At that moment, Cheng Wan was seriously peeling garlic with Aunt Pei. She didn’t go to work or leave the house much, and aside from watching TV every day, she helped Aunt Pei with house chores.
The chores she helped with were simple ones, like peeling scallions, garlic, or soybeans. Tasks that could be done sitting down and only needed a bit of finger work. Cheng Wan actually enjoyed them.
Guazi was lying on the table, its bright eyes watching the garlic in Cheng Wan’s hand. Sometimes, it would chase pieces of garlic skin around the room, making both of them laugh.
“Aunt Pei,”
Bai Juntang came over and placed a hand on the back of Cheng Wan’s chair. Smiling at both of them, she said, “Can I borrow Cheng Wan for a bit? I have some good news to share with her.”
Aunt Pei smiled and said, “Go ahead, I’ll take the garlic to the kitchen.”
Once Aunt Pei walked away with the garlic, Bai Juntang leaned down and kissed Cheng Wan on the lips, smiling as she teased, “You smell like garlic.”
Cheng Wan said helplessly, “Should I go wash my hands then?”
Bai Juntang led her to the nearby bathroom and helped her wash her hands with an orange-scented soap until they smelled nice and fresh.
Cheng Wan had already noticed the document folder in Bai Juntang’s hand. After they finished washing up, she asked, “What’s that? Is it for me?”
“It is,” Bai Juntang said affectionately, gently nuzzling against Cheng Wan. Then, without warning, she scooped her up into her arms and said, “Let’s go to the bedroom. I have something important to talk to you about.”
Startled, Cheng Wan quickly wrapped her arms around Bai Juntang’s neck, her cheeks turning red. “Put me down. I’m heavy.”
“You’re not. I can carry you just fine,” Bai Juntang said, clearly in a great mood. She carried Cheng Wan into the bedroom and placed her in the chair by the desk before handing her the folder.
“This time, I promise. These are the final documents,” Bai Juntang said seriously. “There won’t be any more problems.”
A strange feeling of intuition welled up in Cheng Wan’s heart. She glanced at the folder, then at Bai Juntang, and asked in disbelief, “Is this… the severance document?”
“Yes,” Bai Juntang said, gently rubbing Cheng Wan’s cheek. “You asked me earlier what I had gone out to do. I went to take care of this.”
“From today onward, you are completely free from the Cheng family. They are who they are, and you are your own person now,” Bai Juntang said with a smile. “You’re Cheng Wan, and no one will ever hurt you again.”
Cheng Wan still couldn’t believe it. She remembered that phone call from Cheng Jiajian all too clearly. She didn’t understand how Bai Juntang had managed to resolve everything.
“It was a bit complicated,” Bai Juntang said, holding her hand and motioning for her to open the folder. “Why don’t you take a look? Your new household registration booklet is inside.”
Cheng Wan nodded, then pulled out the documents from the folder along with a brand-new household booklet.
There was no Cheng Jiajian, and no Xu He. On this clean, fresh booklet, there was only Cheng Wan’s name.
She stared at the page, at the solitary record of herself in the registry, stunned.
Bai Juntang leaned in and said softly, “Right now, it’s just you. But soon, there will be Suisui too.”
She took Cheng Wan’s hand and placed both of their hands over her stomach. With a loving smile, she said, “Suisui is definitely going to be a very adorable child.”
Cheng Wan could no longer hold back. Her eyes instantly turned red, and she threw herself into Bai Juntang’s arms, her body trembling slightly.
Bai Juntang hugged her tightly and kept comforting her. She knew that the part of the booklet for parents would remain empty forever. Being abandoned by her birth parents, then adopted by people who never had good intentions, those were facts that could never be changed.
But from today on, Cheng Wan would no longer have to carry those messy, painful ties. Life might feel a little lonely at first, but Bai Juntang believed that as long as she stayed by her side, the future wouldn’t be so hard.
Besides, they would have Suisui in their lives soon.
