How Can Two Scummy Alphas Fall in Love - Chapter 7
Chapter 7
The zoomed-in screenshot of the security footage was so clear that even the eyelashes on the person’s face were visible. At the center of the image was the silver necklace around Xu Ran’s neck, the pendant of which was designed to look like a whistle.
This ornament was finely carved and clearly not an ordinary object.
“But… Miss Qin, Miss Han, Miss Xu was not here today,” said the person who retrieved the surveillance, who also worked at the front desk. She clearly remembered not seeing the celebrity today.
Having navigated the world of “old foxes” for so many years, Han Fufu and Qin Qiao instinctively knew this was not a simple matter and that Xu Ran was likely involved.
“Did the surveillance footage inside the stable capture anything?” The general manager attempted to check the cameras.
The employee shook her head. “Only the training area near the entrance has cameras. Nothing beyond that.”
Qin Qiao raised her chin. “Show me the list of guests who entered today.”
“Miss Qin, that… that would require asking our boss,” the general manager didn’t dare to spontaneously display all the system records publicly.
Han Fufu couldn’t help but smile. “Your boss? Your boss is a manager in a subsidiary of the Gu family. Do you want me to talk to your superior directly?”
The Gu family and the Han family had kinship ties, so they could not be blocked from investigating anything here.
“Call your boss. Tell him Fufu and I need to see it,” Qin Qiao pointed at the computer screen. “If there are any problems, our two families will take responsibility.”
“This…” Hearing this, the general manager dared not refuse. He quickly pulled out his phone to call his boss. “Please wait a moment, ladies.”
Just as the manager turned his back to dial the number, a gentle and pleasant voice came from the doorway.
“No need. If my cousin wants to see, she can see everything.” Qin Qiao’s cousin, Gu Xue’er, stood at the door of the monitoring room, her signature dimples faintly visible at the corners of her mouth.
Han Fufu hadn’t expected Gu Xue’er to show up here so coincidentally. Qin Qiao was equally surprised.
“Xue’er?” Both women voiced their confusion simultaneously.
Gu Xue’er smiled. “I come here to ride horses every Tuesday. It’s a coincidence. Also, Cousin, I left in a hurry on Auntie’s birthday. I’ll visit your house to apologize to Auntie when I have time.”
Qin Qiao lowered her gaze. “Mhm. Let’s deal with the matter here first.”
Han Fufu also had dealings with the Gu family and greeted Gu Xue’er warmly.
“Little Sister Xue’er.”
“Sister Han, I just heard you were startled. Are you alright?” Gu Xue’er rushed to Han Fufu’s side and sighed with relief only after confirming Han Fufu’s expression was normal. She then turned, looking displeased at the staff, adopting a different demeanor than before. “Do you know what Sister Han’s status is? Whatever my sister wants to check, let her check it. How dare you obstruct her?”
“But… the rule about checking the stable system information was set by the manager through your instruction,” the manager nervously swallowed. “We didn’t dare violate your orders.”
Han Fufu was somewhat taken aback seeing the employees so fearful of Gu Xue’er, an Omega. In her mind, Omegas from powerful families were usually just ornaments.
However, the fact that Gu Xue’er dared to manage the family’s assets openly showed that she was different from other Omegas.
Gu Xue’er smiled. “Rules are rigid, but people are flexible. Understand?”
“Understood, understood. It was my lack of flexibility,” the manager could only bow and apologize, immediately ordering someone to retrieve today’s guest registration records.
When Gu Xue’er turned to speak to the two women, she put back on her bright smile. “Cousin, Sister Han, see if anyone looks suspicious.”
Han Fufu walked to the computer, scrolled through the guest list, and quickly snapped a photo with her phone, sending it to her subordinates.
“I’ll have someone investigate. Once the check is done, we’ll know who the suspect is.”
While waiting for the results, Qin Qiao left first, as she had an afternoon engagement. To ensure Han Fufu could successfully find the mastermind, she asked her cousin, Gu Xue’er, to stay, ensuring the matter was resolved today.
Gu Xue’er took on the task immediately. She rushed to Han Fufu’s side, smiling, and reassured Qin Qiao to leave. “Cousin, you go ahead. I’m here. They won’t dare to shirk responsibility.”
“Go on. I couldn’t possibly fail to handle this matter,” Han Fufu made a gesture to hurry her along.
Qin Qiao glanced at Han Fufu and then left.
Not long after Qin Qiao left, Han Fufu’s subordinate quickly sent a message.
A name in the tabulated document was highlighted and bolded in red.
Han Fufu looked at the name, then checked the adjacent columns, discovering that this person was Xu Ran’s former manager. And this manager happened to have a relative who was a cleaner at the stable, someone who normally wouldn’t enter the riding area.
However, this cleaner unusually swapped shifts with the internal cleaning staff today and then vanished from the surveillance view. Only after Han Fufu left the stable did she return from a hidden corner to her workstation.
“Call this person in,” Gu Xue’er handled things efficiently. Seeing the person’s high potential for involvement, she immediately instructed the manager to find them.
The manager turned and hurried out to look for the person.
Han Fufu sat on the sofa, drank a few more sips of tea, and chatted with Gu Xue’er. The manager arrived late.
“CEO Gu, the cleaner is missing. Should I get people to check the surveillance at the intersection, or… or report this to the police?” the manager asked.
Han Fufu shook her head. “No need. I’ll have someone contact Xu Ran.”
“Sister Han, let my cousin handle the contact,” Gu Xue’er suddenly paused as something occurred to her. “We can’t ask Xu Ran to come here. Let… let my cousin notify her manager and say there’s an audition at the Jintai Hotel today.”
Jintai Hotel was also an asset under the Gu family. Once Xu Ran entered the hotel, she would be completely exposed to the Gu family’s surveillance from all 360 degrees.
“Cousin, you’re even more decisive than I am,” Han Fufu thought the idea was excellent and highly feasible.
Gu Xue’er was efficient. She immediately contacted Qin Qiao herself, not needing Han Fufu to worry, and swiftly arranged Xu Ran’s itinerary.
Once everything was set, it was nearly lunchtime. Han Fufu happened to be free in the afternoon, so she accompanied Gu Xue’er to the Jintai Hotel.
Although the hotel was a standard five-star establishment, not membership-based or exclusively for the elite, its decor and service were maintained at an exceptionally high standard, easily comparable to the most exclusive hotels in the capital.
“Sister Han, my father assigned me to manage this hotel. I haven’t learned much about running a business from my brothers and sisters, so I’m managing this place quite haphazardly. If you notice anything that needs improvement, please tell me,” Gu Xue’er said humbly after introducing the hotel’s layout.
Judging by the overall management scale of the hotel, Gu Xue’er was certainly not clueless.
“Little Sister Xue’er, you are very capable. You’re doing just as well as us.”
Han Fufu had never paid close attention to the Gu family’s businesses before, nor had she ever heard that the Gu family’s Omega, Qin Qiao’s cousin—Gu Xue’er—was such a competent person.
Gu Xue’er’s light-colored eyes curved into a smile. She extended her hand to lead the way. “Thank you, Sister Han. Please come in. How about we try our hotel’s signature set meal?”
Technically, Han Fufu was still on her diet, but to avoid spoiling the mood, she agreed to sample the food.
Gu Xue’er sat next to Han Fufu and clapped her hands, asking the attendant to bring in all the specialty dishes.
The attendant was extremely respectful to Gu Xue’er, keeping their head bowed when entering and exiting the private room.
Han Fufu noticed this detail. “Xue’er, your staff’s attitude is excellent.”
“Oh, I’m the boss, after all. They have to perform their best in front of me,” Gu Xue’er teased.
While the two chatted, a full table of exquisite dishes was laid out.
After the first bite, Han Fufu felt her diet was about to fail. However, thanks to her self-control, she ate a moderate amount and didn’t overindulge.
After the meal, the two went up to the high-floor suite, which was the room where Xu Ran would soon arrive.
They sat inside for a short time before the doorbell rang.
Gu Xue’er smiled and gently pressed down on Han Fufu’s legs, which were about to rise. She then called out toward the door, “Come in.”
The room door slowly opened. The first person to show their face was Xu Ran’s manager, who had a distinctly malicious look about him.
The manager entered and first exchanged pleasantries with Gu Xue’er. Then his gaze shifted inward. The moment he saw Han Fufu sitting there, the smile on his face instantly vanished.
His facial muscles twitched. He exerted great control to barely maintain a smile.
However, Han Fufu took in all his subtle expressions.
Xu Ran, who followed her manager in, also entered. The moment she saw Gu Xue’er and Han Fufu, the expression on her face went completely blank.
“Please come in, Miss Xu Ran,” Gu Xue’er did not immediately interrogate the two but politely invited them into the room.
Xu Ran was now caught between a rock and a hard place. Unfortunately, she had to enter the room. If she turned and walked out now, it would be tantamount to admitting her dirty deed.
The young celebrity and her manager sat squarely in front of Han Fufu and Gu Xue’er. Their smiles were faker than the last.
Gu Xue’er was still setting the stage, but Han Fufu, utterly impatient, got straight to the point.
“The whistle, is it yours?”
Xu Ran’s body stiffened. She forced a calm demeanor, looking up and asking with an awkward smile, “Movie Queen Han, what are you talking about? I completely don’t understand what you mean.”
Han Fufu sneered, slowly pointing at the manager. “She likes to play dumb, so let me ask you. Was the stable incident today orchestrated by you two, master and servant?”
With the question so clearly stated, the manager finally couldn’t keep up the pretense. He looked like a fearful coward. The moment the plot was exposed, he immediately dropped to his knees, tears and snot running down his face.
“CEO Han, this… this matter… you have to believe we didn’t do it on purpose. All I and that cleaner did was…”
“I haven’t even asked about your accomplice yet, and you’re already confessing?” Han Fufu only felt contempt for the person in front of her.
