Hold Tight to the Female Lead's Thigh [Transmigration GL] - Episode 45
Yan Hong’s gaze swept over the two sitting closely together, and she tactfully said, “If the two guardians have no other matters, I shall take my leave now.”
With that, Yan Hong paid no further attention to them and left the carriage without looking back.
A’Tian, who was guarding the door, was slightly surprised to see Yan Hong emerge so quickly.
Yan Hong’s eyes met A’Tian’s. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end, all her words dissolved into a faint smile. Without uttering a word, she returned to her own carriage.
A’Tian stared blankly at her retreating figure, unconsciously placing a hand over her chest, unable to understand why she suddenly felt a stifling sensation in her heart.
Inside the carriage, Taohua was utterly perplexed by Yan Hong’s actions. The words Yan Hong had spoken earlier seemed like an attempt to clear her own name, but they only made her appear more suspicious. Yet, if everything she said was true that Guan Fusha had found her based on the information Yan Hong provided then the assumption that Yan Hong intended to harm her would be completely unfounded!
Guan Fusha’s gaze drifted to the window as she sank into deep thought.
What exactly were Yan Hong’s intentions?!
The Tianlun Sect was located near Gui City. The fastest route from Gui City back to Yan City would take at least two days.
Gui City, the capital of the Southern Kingdom, was as bustling as Yan City, which served as a transportation hub between the northern and southern kingdoms. The streets were lined with shops and vendor stalls, filled with the clamor of voices and an atmosphere of liveliness.
Taohua hadn’t been in this world for long, and most of her time had been spent either in the Cui residence or within the Yeshen Sect. Rarely having the chance to venture outside, she found everything novel and couldn’t help but feel excited, curiously looking around.
Knowing that Taohua had once been a young lady raised in seclusion with little opportunity to go out, Guan Fusha deliberately instructed Xiao Yuan to slow the horse’s pace, allowing Taohua to take in the sights to her heart’s content.
“Wow, sugar painting!” Taohua’s eyes lit up when she spotted one of the vendor stalls.
In modern times, this kind of craftsmanship had gradually faded away. She had seen it on television before, but witnessing it in person felt even more extraordinary.
“Senior Sister,” Taohua turned to Guan Fusha, her excitement childlike, “I want to try that. Can I go buy one?”
“Of course,” Guan Fusha replied with an indulgent smile, signaling Xiao Yuan to stop the carriage. She took Taohua’s hand and helped her step down slowly. “Be careful.”
“Mm.”
Once outside the carriage, Taohua realized that the street was filled with more than just sugar paintings. There were all sorts of strange and wonderful things she had never seen before.
Guan Fusha led Taohua to the stall and asked the vendor with a gentle smile, “How much for this?”
“Three coins… gasp!” The street vendor, who had never seen such a beautiful woman before, was utterly stunned. His eyes remained fixed on Guan Fusha, his soul seemingly swept away.
“Three coins, right?” Guan Fusha, accustomed to such reactions, took some loose change from her waist and placed it on the stall. She then picked up a sugar painting and handed it to Taohua. “Here.”
“Thank you, Senior Sister!” Taohua accepted the sugar painting, her eyes sparkling with delight. Without hesitation, she immediately popped it into her mouth.
Hmm… the sugar in ancient times doesn’t seem as sweet as the modern kind. Is it because they don’t use food additives? Natural things really do taste better.
Guan Fusha gazed at the peach blossoms and couldn’t help but smile, her eyes brimming with affection.
However, this very affection was a source of misery for the fellow cult members traveling with her. They had long grown tired of the trinkets at the stalls, and besides, what grown man enjoyed eating candy? Rather than trailing behind the two guardians day after day, forced to endure their public displays of affection, they’d much rather report back to the cult early and disband to return to their respective homes!
With a pained expression, Cultist A lifted the carriage curtain and looked out at the two. “Sigh, the guardians have gotten off the carriage again.”
Following his gaze, Cultist B, equally miserable, chimed in, “Sigh, with all these stops and starts, when will we ever make it back to the cult?”
Cultist C, having long grown numb from the daily dose of affection, muttered, “I really want to… really want to go to the brothel and find some girls.”
Cultist A turned and smacked him hard on the back of the head, furious. “Do you think we don’t want to? How can we go with the guardians right behind us?”
Cultist B had a sudden idea. “How about we suggest to the guardians that we head back to the cult first to report in? They can take their time strolling around, for as long as they like!”
Cultist A clapped his hands excitedly, his eyes full of admiration. “Great idea! Let’s do it!”
Cultist C asked, “So, who’s going to tell the guardians?”
Cultist A: “…”
Cultist B: “…”
In the end, following the principle of majority rule, Cultist C was elected as the representative to present the suggestion to Guan Fusha.
And so, in the midst of the sweet, sugary atmosphere of enjoying painted sugar art, a nearly nine-foot-tall burly man suddenly appeared, shattering the mood entirely.
Cultist C bowed respectfully with clasped hands. “Guardian, I have an important matter to report.”
Guan Fusha’s eye twitched, her previously affectionate smile now filled with impatience. “Speak.”
“Ahem, well, it’s like this,” Cultist C cleared his throat and got straight to the point. “Don’t you think our journey is progressing a bit too slowly?”
“…”
“The journey to Tianlun Cult is long, and the round trip takes quite some time. Everyone is actually quite tired, so we were wondering if we could head back to the cult first?”
After a moment of silence, Guan Fusha lifted her eyes and asked expressionlessly, “You came all this way, saying you had something important to report, just to ask this?”
“Yes,” Cultist C replied innocently, completely unaware of the danger closing in. “We’ve actually been wanting to ask you for a while.”
Guan Fusha gave a hollow laugh. “Heh.”
A short while later, Cultist C ran back to the carriage, clutching his face.
Cultist A asked with concern, “How did it go?”
Cultist C let go of his hands, revealing a face that had swollen into a pig’s head. He sobbed, “Wahhh, the guardian is so cruel! She actually poisoned me! The antidote requires mung bean powder and virgin boy’s urine applied to the face!”
Cultist A, enraged, smacked him hard on the back of the head again. “Who asked about your injuries! I’m asking what the guardian said!”
“The guardian… she said it’s up to us… and told us not to bother her…” Cultist C cradled his swollen face, sobbing intermittently in despair.
It was bad enough that the guardian showed no camaraderie, but now even his comrades were hitting him! His heart was weary. He just wanted to go back to the brothel and fawn over the girls!
“Excellent!” Cultist B’s eyes immediately lit up upon hearing this. “I’ll go inform the other brothers right away!”
The group of cultists who received the news instantly broke free from the lifeless atmosphere. Finally, they wouldn’t have to endure those lovey-dovey couples anymore! They could go home to their mothers!
Within moments, nearly everyone had scattered and disappeared, leaving only Guan Fusha and Yan Hong’s carriage convoy behind.
Noticing the commotion behind them, Taohua asked, “Senior Sister, did something happen?”
Guan Fusha smiled reassuringly. “It’s nothing. Let’s continue our stroll. What else would you like to see, Junior Sister?”
Since Guan Fusha said it was nothing, Taohua didn’t bother worrying about it. Holding Guan Fusha’s hand, she swung their joined hands idly and pointed at a stall not far away. “Hmm… I’d like to take a look at that one over there too.”
Their figures gradually faded into the distance. Xiao Yuan, feeling uneasy, was about to follow when A’Tian stopped her.
“Sister Tian…” Xiao Yuan looked at her, confused.
“Don’t go. The Guardian’s martial arts are exceptional. She’ll be fine,” A’Tian said, gazing distractedly at the two fading figures.
“But…” Xiao Yuan hesitated, wanting to say more. Their duty was to protect the Guardian after all!
“A’Tian is right,” Yan Hong chimed in, having stepped down from the carriage unnoticed and now standing beside them. Covering her mouth with a silk handkerchief, she chuckled, “If you follow them now, you’ll just be spoiling the mood.”
Hearing this, A’Tian’s eyes flickered with a hint of melancholy.
Yan Hong handed Xiao Yuan a slip of paper. “It seems we’ll be staying here tonight. Go to this place first and have them prepare the rooms. When the Guardian returns, we’ll head straight there.”
“…Understood.” After a moment’s hesitation, Xiao Yuan took the paper. Once she confirmed the location, she immediately used her qinggong to dart away.
