Hold Tight to the Female Lead's Thigh [Transmigration GL] - Episode 44
Standing by the carriage door, A’Tian quietly let out a sigh of relief.
If she hadn’t interrupted the Left Guardian’s words earlier, she would likely have already revealed everything to the Right Guardian. What should she do now? The two guardians were alone together in the carriage, and if the Left Guardian decided to speak up, there was no way she could stop her!
A familiar figure passed by not far from A’Tian, catching her attention instantly. Without a second thought about abandoning her post, she immediately rushed toward that person.
Breathless, A’Tian ran up to Yan Hong’s carriage and said to the maid driving it, “Excuse me, I need to speak with the Hall Leader.”
“What business do you have with the Hall Leader?” the maid asked.
“I…” A’Tian’s expression grew flustered. “It’s a personal matter…”
“Personal matter? What kind of personal matter?” The maid eyed her suspiciously, finding it all very strange.
“Well…” A’Tian bit her lip, filled with regret.
She really was a fool. If only she hadn’t been so straightforward earlier. If she had simply said the guardians needed to speak with the Hall Leader, the maid would have let her in right away.
Seeing A’Tian hesitate and stammer without giving a clear explanation, the maid grew even more doubtful. Just as she was about to send A’Tian away, Yan Hong’s voice suddenly came from inside the carriage, “Let her in.”
“Yes, Hall Leader.”
The maid gave A’Tian a scrutinizing look. Though she didn’t trust her, she ultimately obeyed the order and opened the carriage door to let her in.
A’Tian had no mind to care about the maid’s thoughts at that moment. Before she could even catch her breath, the thought of Yan Hong sitting inside the carriage made her nerves tense up again.
She lifted her skirt and stepped into the carriage, and the maid promptly closed the door behind her. The interior became a sealed space once more, with only the two of them inside.
Yan Hong was lounging lazily on a soft cushion, a censer placed beside her emitting delicate wisps of white smoke that filled the entire compartment with a fragrant haze.
It was a peculiar scent, one A’Tian had never encountered before. She lowered her gaze, unconsciously covering her nose and mouth with her hand, her brows slightly furrowed.
“Sit,” Yan Hong said with a casual wave, indicating for A’Tian to find a seat.
Sitting too close felt unsafe, but sitting too far would be impolite. Still, the carriage was so cramped that she didn’t have much choice in the matter.
A’Tian chose a spot to sit, right between the door and Yan Hong.
Yan Hong raised an eyebrow, her smile unwavering as she ignored A’Tian’s guarded demeanor. “What brings you to me?”
A’Tian froze. She had instinctively chased after Yan Hong upon seeing her, but now, face to face, she had no idea what to say.
Yan Hong looked up at her, a hint of mockery in her smile. “Well? Didn’t you have something to discuss? If not, please leave.”
“I…” A’Tian paused, lowering her eyes in thought for a moment before deciding to cut straight to the point. “Forgive my boldness, but I came today to ask you about something.”
“Oh?” Yan Hong looked intrigued. “And what is it you wish to ask me?”
“It’s about the Left Guardian’s kidnapping,” A’Tian swallowed hard, her heart pounding with nervousness, almost afraid to voice the question. “Did you conspire with outsiders to arrange it?”
Yan Hong was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter. “Hahaha, so this is what you wanted to ask me?”
Her reaction completely caught A’Tian off guard, making her flustered.
Why would the hall master respond like this? Could it be that she and the Left Guardian had completely misjudged the situation?
Yan Hong stopped laughing, her gaze fixed on A’Tian as she leaned forward like a cat, lazily asking, “Hmm… I’m curious about what you think. Do you also believe I’m colluding with outsiders?”
Caught off guard by the counter-question, A’Tian paused, unsure how to respond. “I…”
Before she could finish, Yan Hong interrupted her with a gesture.
Yan Hong reached out and gently cupped A’Tian’s cheek, her smile as tender as if she were looking at her most cherished treasure. “Do you trust me?” she asked.
“I…” A’Tian opened her mouth, then placed her hand over Yan Hong’s. For some reason, her heart suddenly felt clear and unburdened. “I trust you.”
The unexpected firmness in A’Tian’s tone made Yan Hong freeze. After a moment, she smiled faintly, withdrew her hand from A’Tian’s grasp, and resumed her earlier lazy posture, her expression returning to its usual casual demeanor. “Since you already have your answer, why bother asking me?”
“But… the Left Guardian plans to tell the Right Guardian everything!” A’Tian’s heart raced with anxiety. Her trust alone wasn’t enough—the Left Guardian had to believe it too!
“Oh,” Yan Hong responded indifferently.
“Hall Master…” A’Tian’s brow furrowed unconsciously, genuinely worried for her.
Yan Hong’s expression shifted briefly before reverting to her usual carefree demeanor. “Alright, you asked me a question. Now it’s my turn to ask you.”
A’Tian was momentarily stunned, seemingly unprepared for this sudden “exchange of questions.”
“You’re so concerned about whether I’m colluding with outsiders—is it because of me, or because of Guan Fusha?” Though Yan Hong wore a nonchalant smile, her heart tightened involuntarily at the thought of the impending answer.
A’Tian truly didn’t understand why Yan Hong would ask such a question. Was there even a difference? Her concern wasn’t limited to just one of them. “This servant is afraid that if the Right Guardian finds out, misunderstandings may arise and harm the relationship between you.”
Yan Hong sighed heavily inwardly, lowering her gaze as she murmured, “So, in the end, you still chose her…”
“Hall Master?” A’Tian couldn’t quite catch her words, her face filled with confusion.
“Never mind.” Yan Hong quickly composed herself. After all, she had long been aware of A’Tian’s feelings for Guan Fusha. There was no point in holding onto foolish hopes.
She rested her forehead in her hand and waved dismissively. “You may leave.”
“But, regarding this matter, shouldn’t you explain it to the two Guardians.” A’Tian urged, her face etched with concern.
“I understand. I’ll handle it. You may go.” Yan Hong had no desire to continue the conversation and directly dismissed her.
“Well… alright.” A’Tian could see that Yan Hong’s expression had darkened and didn’t dare say more. She bowed and took her leave.
After stepping out of the carriage, A’Tian glanced back worriedly before returning absentmindedly to stand guard by Guan Fusha’s carriage.
Meanwhile, inside Guan Fusha’s carriage…
Peach Blossom noticed that Guan Fusha seemed to be in a good mood, and with the current atmosphere being quite pleasant, she began to ponder whether it was the right time to carefully consider how to break the news about Yan Hong to her. After all, the two were as close as sisters, and if Yan Hong had truly betrayed her, it would likely be hard for her to accept.
Guan Fusha turned her head and happened to see Peach Blossom lost in thought. She asked, “What are you daydreaming about, junior sister?”
“Hmm?” Peach Blossom looked up and gave her a reassuring smile, though inwardly she was troubled about how to broach the subject.
Guan Fusha could sense that something was off with Peach Blossom. “What’s wrong? I feel like ever since I returned from the Tianlun Sect, you’ve been a bit distracted.”
Just then, Guan Fusha remembered that Peach Blossom had seemed to have something to say to her earlier in the room. “By the way, back in the room, you mentioned you had something to tell me. What was it?”
After a moment’s thought, Peach Blossom decided to strike while the iron was hot and lay all her cards on the table. “It’s actually about Hall Master Yan Hong.”
“About Yan Hong?” Guan Fusha’s eyes flickered. “Did something happen between you two?”
“I suspect she—”
A brief knock at the door interrupted Peach Blossom’s words.
Both of their gazes instantly shifted to the door. Guan Fusha asked, “Who is it?”
“Protector, Hall Master Yan Hong is here to see you.”
Outside the door, A’Tian stole a glance at Yan Hong, puzzled as to why she had suddenly come to see the Protector.
Peach Blossom was taken aback. Speak of the devil—was it really such a coincidence?
Guan Fusha glanced at Peach Blossom, pondered for a moment, and said, “Let her in.”
“Yes.”
A’Tian opened the carriage door and gestured for Yan Hong to enter. “Hall Master, please.”
Yan Hong gave her a charming smile. “Thank you, A’Tian.”
A’Tian lowered her gaze, deliberately avoiding eye contact.
Ignoring her reaction, Yan Hong stepped directly into the carriage.
“Yan Hong,” Guan Fusha greeted her casually. “Take a seat wherever you like.”
Without hesitation, Yan Hong chose the most comfortable spot and sat down. She glanced at the two of them and asked insincerely, “I hope I’m not disturbing the two Protectors?”
