“Hey, Pei Xingzhi, your husband is waiting for you after class again.”

As soon as Pei Xingzhi stepped out of the classroom, he ran straight into Xie Nanyi, who had been waiting for him at the door. Pretending not to see him, Pei Xingzhi tried to walk around Xie Nanyi, but a nosy classmate pushed him right back toward him.

Surrounded by teasing classmates, Pei Xingzhi couldn’t say much with so many people egging them on. He could only glare fiercely at them before dragging Xie Nanyi to an empty classroom nearby.

Ever since their chance encounter in the clubroom two weeks ago, Pei Xingzhi had been relentlessly pursued by Xie Nanyi. For the past two weeks, wherever Pei Xingzhi went, Xie Nanyi was sure to appear within a three-hundred-meter radius.

Xie Nanyi’s stalking was both casual and bold, wherever Pei Xingzhi went, he followed. Whenever they crossed paths, Xie Nanyi would greet him with a cheerful, “What a coincidence, you’re here too!” Pei Xingzhi attended whichever classes he chose, and Xie Nanyi would adjust his own elective schedule to match, ensuring they shared every class as desk mates. On the rare occasions when they couldn’t sit together, Xie Nanyi would simply wait for him outside the classroom door, just like now.

Pei Xingzhi had considered reporting Xie Nanyi for bribing teachers and abusing his authority, but he quickly abandoned the idea after learning that Xie Nanyi’s family had funded the construction of several buildings on campus.

Pei Xingzhi wasn’t afraid of trouble, but he knew better than to provoke it.

“You saw it last time, I don’t have your mark on me. Can’t you just leave me alone?”

“I just want to nurture our bond,” Xie Nanyi replied, completely unashamed of his stalking behavior. He even offered a rare smile, one charming enough to captivate countless young men and women, a stark contrast to the violent, self-destructive maniac Pei Xingzhi had first encountered.

If Pei Xingzhi hadn’t witnessed his madness firsthand, he might have actually been swayed by the image Xie Nanyi presented now.

“I’ve told you over and over again, you’ve got the wrong person!”

“I never make mistakes. You’re just unwilling to accept that you’re the Marked One.”

“But the fact is, I really don’t have your mark!”

“You do.”

“No, I don’t! How many times do I have to repeat myself?”

This pointless argument had replayed countless times over the past two weeks, and each time, Pei Xingzhi ended up defeated.

Pei Xingzhi was almost ready to kneel and beg Xie Nanyi to stop harassing him, but Xie Nanyi only watched him with a gentle, spring-like smile, slowly uttering words that drove Pei Xingzhi to the brink of despair.

Their arguments always ended in a stalemate. Xie Nanyi seemed convinced that Pei Xingzhi was the one, and no matter how many times Pei Xingzhi lost his temper and lashed out, Xie Nanyi would simply stand there, smiling gracefully, letting him vent.

“Think whatever you want,” Pei Xingzhi said, unwilling to argue any further. Whether by Xie Nanyi’s design or not, their constant entanglement had firmly tied Pei Xingzhi’s name to Xie Nanyi’s.

Being linked to the campus celebrity wasn’t exactly a blessing. Pei Xingzhi had noticed a sharp increase in people turning to stare at him lately, to the point where he hardly dared to leave his dorm except for classes and meals.

“I’ll say it again, no matter how much you pester me, I will never like you.”

“It doesn’t matter. As long as the mark exists, you’ll come to like me eventually.”

As Pei Xingzhi reached the door, Xie Nanyi’s haunting voice drifted from behind him. It felt like cold, slimy tentacles creeping up from behind, instantly enveloping Pei Xingzhi’s entire body.

Pei Xingzhi turned around in alarm, only to see Xie Nanyi still smiling gently, as if the person who had just spoken wasn’t him. The midday sun cast its rays around Xie Nanyi, yet despite the sweltering heat outside, Pei Xingzhi felt as though he had plunged into an icy abyss, his hands and feet turning cold.

The students outside the classroom had nearly all dispersed, leaving the surroundings eerily silent. The ticking of the wall clock echoed endlessly in the stillness. Pei Xingzhi bit his lip, unable to withstand the oppressive pressure of the pheromones any longer. His legs gave way, and he collapsed to the floor.

“Are you alright? How did you fall?” Xie Nanyi approached and helped him up, his equally cold hand caressing Pei Xingzhi’s cheek. The scar on his right wrist inadvertently brushed against Pei Xingzhi’s lips, each touch sending uncontrollable shivers through his body.

The Alpha’s pheromones nearly suffocated Pei Xingzhi, stripping away all the air around him. As a mere Beta, Pei Xingzhi couldn’t withstand the intensity. Within seconds, he was gasping for breath, struggling to breathe.

“Are you in pain? Should I take you to the infirmary?” Xie Nanyi looked down at him, his tone devoid of any genuine concern despite the seemingly caring words.

“Pei Xingzhi, if you agree, we could actually make a deal. It would be better for everyone.” As Xie Nanyi finished speaking, the pheromones of the high-quality Alpha gradually receded. Pei Xingzhi slowly regained his breath and, mustering all his strength, pushed Xie Nanyi away. Panting heavily, he scrambled backward on his hands and feet.

“Xie Nanyi, you lunatic! I will never fall for you in this lifetime!” His cheeks flushed red from the struggle, tears of humiliation and pain streaming down his face as he sat on the floor, shouting at Xie Nanyi.

“You know, if I carve out your mark, will mine disappear?” Xie Nanyi murmured, seemingly oblivious to Pei Xingzhi’s outburst, as he absentmindedly traced the scar on his own wrist.

Pei Xingzhi didn’t answer. Taking a deep breath, he seized the moment of Xie Nanyi’s distraction and slapped him across the face.

Regaining some of his composure, Pei Xingzhi put all his strength into the blow, leaving Xie Nanyi’s cheek swollen and red.

“That’s payback for what you just did, Xie Nanyi. If you dare provoke me again, I’ll cut you to pieces!” Pei Xingzhi declared, not giving Xie Nanyi a chance to react before pushing him aside and dashing out of the classroom.

Leaning against the podium, Xie Nanyi gently touched the spot where he had been struck. Pei Xingzhi’s slap had been merciless, and even after applying the best ointment, a stinging pain lingered.

As if punishing him for his disrespect toward his own marked one, the familiar pain surged through his body once more. Assistant Wen stepped forward promptly to administer an injection, but Xie Nanyi’s body had long developed resistance to the medication, rendering its effects negligible.

“You went too far this time, young master.”

An Alpha using pheromone suppression on a Beta without any justification, if Pei Xingzhi reported it to the police, they would have every reason to detain Xie Nanyi.

“These medications are no longer effective for you, and the new drug hasn’t been developed yet. If he really ends up resenting you because of this incident, how will you get through your future sensitive periods?” Assistant Wen’s earnest advice failed to earn even a glance from Xie Nanyi. Instead, Xie Nanyi looked at the two characters “Pei Xingzhi” on his wrist and raised his hand to show it to Assistant Wen.

“Look, this name seems to be becoming more and more distinct.”

As he spoke, Xie Nanyi took the needle from Assistant Wen’s hand and stabbed it into his own wrist. Beads of blood eagerly welled up from his body. Assistant Wen, long accustomed to his behavior, calmly picked up the medical kit to treat him.

“Young Master, your father has given a limited timeframe. He hopes you can bond with your imprinted partner as soon as possible before your next sensitive period.” Under pressure from his superior, Assistant Wen reluctantly spoke up to pressure Xie Nanyi. “He doesn’t want you to keep acting recklessly.”

“Recklessly?” Xie Nanyi’s voice was soft, his gaze drifting toward the window. “Wasn’t it him who told me to pursue my imprinted partner? How is that reckless?”

“But you can’t pursue someone like this…” Assistant Wen wiped the sweat from his brow, feeling dizzy just thinking about the pheromones he had encountered upon entering earlier.

That Beta was nearly overwhelmed by the Young Master’s pheromones, can that even be called pursuing?

“Then teach me how to pursue someone?” The medication began to take effect, and Xie Nanyi finally felt a moment of relief. He took a few steps forward and sat down on a nearby stool, looking up at Assistant Wen. “Do you think I need you to teach me how to pursue someone?”

“Why do you have such strong pheromones on you? Which shameless Alpha did this to you?” Zhuang Xiaoyue was the only Omega in his dormitory. Although he was of low quality, even he felt breathless from the overwhelming scent of pheromones, let alone Pei Xingzhi, who had just been suppressed.

“Xie Nanyi.”

“What? Why was I moved to another group when the previous arrangement was fine?” The roommate’s words struck Pei Xingzhi like a thunderbolt, and he practically gritted his teeth as he asked the question.

“You didn’t know? I thought you and Xie Nanyi had discussed it. The teacher said Xie Nanyi went to him and claimed you two were a couple, and that he wanted to be in the same group as you…”

“Xie! Nan! Yi!”

“I’m going to kill you!”
