Help! A Green Tea Alpha Is Obsessed with Me - Chapter 2
Pei Xingzhi heard every word Xie Nanyi said clearly, yet he couldn’t understand the meaning behind the combination of those words.
In just a few seconds, Pei Xingzhi’s expression went through countless changes, from confusion to doubt, then hesitation, before he finally uttered an awkward sentence:
“Xie Nanyi, have you lost your mind?”
“I haven’t.” Xie Nanyi was incredibly calm. He dug his fingers into the freshly healed scar on his right wrist, reopening the unhealed wound until it bled again. He took a few steps closer, raising his still-bleeding wrist to Pei Xingzhi’s eyes.
“You are my Imprinter.” He repeated the words once more, his tone tinged with impatience.
If he could, he would carve this name out along with the flesh. But the name seemed to have grown into his very bones, regenerating with each new layer of flesh and blood. No matter how hard he struggled, he couldn’t break free from the shackles of this name.
“You must be mistaken. Both parties in an Imprint bear each other’s names. Right now, only you have a name, while I don’t. Clearly, I have nothing to do with you!”
Pei Xingzhi took a few steps back, avoiding Xie Nanyi’s bloodied arm. Xie Nanyi had been fierce toward him, but he was even more brutal toward himself. The scar had been violently torn open, and blood continued to gush from his wrist, quickly staining a small patch of the floor beneath his feet.
Pei Xingzhi turned away in fear. He had no interest in admiring someone else’s wounds, the scene was far too gruesome for him to handle.
If it weren’t for the fact that this situation couldn’t prove his innocence, Pei Xingzhi would have screamed to attract the attention of people outside. Rumors said Xie Nanyi was a cool and handsome guy, but no one had told him those rumors were false, that Xie Nanyi was actually a violent masochist!
“You! You! You should tend to your wound first. You’re losing too much blood, and it’s scaring me.” Pei Xingzhi’s voice was almost trembling with tears, but Xie Nanyi seemed oblivious, still holding his hand up and moving closer.
“I was wrong! Big brother, I was wrong! Please don’t mess with me anymore, okay?” Pei Xingzhi was genuinely terrified. Of all people to provoke, he had to provoke a madman. He stood there, covering his face and shrinking into the corner, even managing to squeeze out a few tears.
“Why are you crying?” Xie Nanyi only wanted him to take a good look at the name on his arm. He hadn’t expected the person before him to burst into tears for no reason. Xie Nanyi grew increasingly agitated, and a sharp pain suddenly shot through the mark on his wrist. Before Pei Xingzhi, who was already frightened, could react, Xie Nanyi, the one who had been doing the frightening, collapsed first.
Earlier, Pei Xingzhi had crashed into his arms; this time, Xie Nanyi crashed into Pei Xingzhi’s arms. The two were even now,
Not a chance.
Xie Nanyi looked tall and slender, but his body was surprisingly heavy. Pei Xingzhi struggled to lift him while avoiding the wound on his wrist, exerting great effort to help him onto a chair.
“Xie Nanyi, Xie Nanyi, are you okay? Don’t scare me like this. I didn’t do anything to you! You were the one who scared me first. How did you collapse? Are you losing too much blood? There doesn’t seem to be a first-aid kit here.
Should I find someone to help you? No, no… If I call for help now, they’ll definitely think I did this to you! Wake up, please. I won’t blame you anymore, okay…”
“Bear with it, I’ll apply the medicine first. It might sting a bit, but don’t be afraid. I’ll blow on it for you. Are you one of those with a habit of cutting your wrists? How could you do something so painful? I couldn’t even look when I was bandaging you just now.”
“Xie Nanyi, you should be fine now, right? Don’t try to pin this on me. My family is just ordinary, we don’t have money to compensate you. Xie Nanyi, you’re not really hurt, are you? Xie Nanyi! Nanyi! Yi!”
“Shut up.”
The lingering pain from the mark was still tormenting his body, and Pei Xingzhi’s incessant chatter buzzed in his ears. Xie Nanyi felt his head throbbing intensely. With his eyes closed, he reached out and accurately covered Pei Xingzhi’s still-talking mouth.
“Be quiet.”
“Mmph…” Pei Xingzhi resisted, squinting as he considered whether to stick out his tongue and lick Xie Nanyi’s palm to disgust him.
But just as his tongue emerged, Xie Nanyi released his hand as if anticipating it. Pei Xingzhi stuck out his tongue, slowly raised his right fist, pressed it against his cheek, and tilted his head in a cute pose.
“You’re feeling better now, right?”
“Mhm.” Xie Nanyi rubbed his palm, slightly dazed. Just now, when he withdrew his hand, he had accidentally brushed against the tip of Pei Xingzhi’s tongue. That brief touch alone had made most of his pain vanish instantly.
No wonder marked individuals couldn’t be separated. With such an effective painkiller, who would want to endure the unbearable sensitive period alone?
“You really scared me just now. Why start harming yourself just because we couldn’t communicate? Couldn’t we have sat down and talked properly?” Pei Xingzhi patted his chest, still shaken. It’s true what they say, never offend someone with mental illness. Once they become extreme, it’s beyond anyone’s control.
“I was showing you the mark.” Xie Nanyi looked at his wrist. Pei Xingzhi had applied medicine, and it was now wrapped in a bandage. The bandage was neatly tied, clearly the work of someone experienced.
“Tied it well, didn’t I?” Pei Xingzhi, sensing his thoughts, immediately began boasting about his achievement. “My dad’s a doctor. When he’s busy, I often help the nurses. I have a lot of experience treating wounds. If you ever get hurt in the future… no, wait, pooh, pooh, pooh, you won’t get hurt. Pretend I never said that.”
“Could you please be quiet?” His body was already suffering enough, and Pei Xingzhi’s chattering made him feel even more like dying.
Pei Xingzhi, who had been boasting, was cut off by his words. He was about to retort but, upon seeing the bandage on Xie Nanyi’s wrist, turned his head away in a huff.
Fine, he was magnanimous and wouldn’t argue with a patient.
They had just been discussing the mark, but Pei Xingzhi had veered the conversation far off track. Seeing him finally quiet down, Xie Nanyi used one hand to undo the freshly tied bandage.
“What are you doing? I just finished bandaging you!” Pei Xingzhi was genuinely angry this time. As the saying goes, doctors have compassion, but only for those who can understand reason. Xie Nanyi, this lunatic, kept doing things like this. Pei Xingzhi glared at him, gritting his teeth and swearing to himself that he would never care about him again.
“My body bears your name.” Xie Nanyi didn’t care about Pei Xingzhi’s attitude and continued speaking on his own.
“But my body doesn’t bear your name. I’m an unmarked one. Do you understand?”
“I have your name on me, so you must have my name on you too.”
Pei Xingzhi speaking to Xie Nanyi, it was like playing the lute for a donkey.
This guy simply didn’t listen to reason.
“I told you I don’t have it! Even if you strip me naked and look, there’s nothing there!”
Xie Nanyi couldn’t understand human language, and Pei Xingzhi didn’t want to waste any more breath arguing with him. Trying to reason with someone on a completely different wavelength was pointless.
He had only come to deliver some documents, but somehow ended up being pestered by this lunatic for over two hours. Who on earth said Xie Nanyi was a campus heartthrob? More like a campus psychopath.
He’d have to beat up whoever spread that rumor to vent his anger.
“Pei Xingzhi, is your birthday July 21st?”
“How do you know that?” Pei Xingzhi had just reached for the doorknob but turned back at Xie Nanyi’s words. “You investigated me secretly! You’re a creep, aren’t you?”
Xie Nanyi couldn’t help rolling his eyes at his words but suppressed his temper and replied as calmly as possible, “Because the imprint appeared on that day.”
The mark appears on the birthday of the name’s owner. With such a specific date, the chance of a mistake was incredibly slim.
“Your argument is convincing, but the key issue is that I don’t have any imprint at all,” Pei Xingzhi said, rolling up his sleeve and holding his wrist out in front of Xie Nanyi. “See? There’s really nothing on me.”
“You should look for someone with the same name and birthday as me. Isn’t it said that two people with imprints are drawn to each other? Look at you, you feel no attraction to me, and you don’t seem captivated by me either. Take your time searching. You’ll eventually meet your true match.”
Pei Xingzhi’s earnest advice was met with Xie Nanyi’s firm reply: “My imprinted one is you.”
“Fine, whatever you say.” Pei Xingzhi had had enough. Arguing about this nonsense was pointless, this guy was clearly delusional.
“I’m done with this. Believe whatever you want!”
The club members had already opened the door, so Pei Xingzhi no longer needed Xie Nanyi’s key. He pushed the classroom door open and left.
The spacious classroom was suddenly empty except for Xie Nanyi.
The old ceiling fan above still creaked as it spun. Xie Nanyi stood up and opened the window, just in time to see Pei Xingzhi’s figure appear downstairs.
He seemed quite popular at school, several people greeted him as he walked by. Pei Xingzhi responded warmly and even took an ice pop from a classmate.
The painkiller’s effects had long worn off. The pain seemed to have melted into his bloodstream, flowing from the imprinted area through his veins and spreading throughout his body.
Xie Nanyi leaned against the windowsill, struggling to stay upright, and looked down at the wound Pei Xingzhi had just treated.
He wasn’t very familiar with Pei Xingzhi. In fact, before today, he hadn’t even known they were in the same club. He had only registered his name with the club and rarely showed up. But today, a strong premonition had urged him to come and stay for a while.
Humans couldn’t fight against instinct, so he had come, and encountered Pei Xingzhi.
It felt like a coincidence destined by fate.
He hated this kind of destined fate.
However, Pei Xingzhi seemed completely unaware of the existence of the mark on his body, steadfastly denying it. If it weren’t for the fact that touching him alleviated Xie Nanyi’s pain, Xie Nanyi would have doubted whether he had found the wrong person.
For Betas, a mark is nothing but beneficial. Whether the other party is an Alpha or an Omega, it is a heaven-sent blessing for them. A Beta would never refuse it.
But Pei Xingzhi not only rejected him but also calmly told him that he bore no mark belonging to Xie Nanyi. His candid expression made it seem as though Xie Nanyi was the only one tormented by the mark.
Xie Nanyi clenched his wrist, his nails digging into the unhealed flesh. The external pain momentarily overwhelmed the internal agony, but only for a moment. After the brief surge, the relentless, throbbing ache returned. Xie Nanyi collapsed to the floor, his gaze inadvertently falling on the bandages he had discarded earlier.
Pei Xingzhi had no reason to lie to him. He truly bore no mark of Xie Nanyi’s.
Free from the torment of marks and pheromones, Pei Xingzhi was luckier than him.
