Help! A Green Tea Alpha Is Obsessed with Me - Chapter 1
The first encounter between Pei Xingzhi and Xie Nanyi couldn’t exactly be called a coincidence, it was more like a twist of fate.
Out of the blue, his usually laid-back club specifically requested him to deliver some materials. Pei Xingzhi arrived at the destination, placed the materials on the table as instructed, and was about to leave when a clumsy mistake by a clubmate accidentally locked him inside the classroom.
Pei Xingzhi called the clubmate to come open the door, only to be told that only the club president and Xie Nanyi had the classroom key.
And as luck would have it, the Xie Nanyi in question was currently asleep at the desk right next to him.
Speaking of Xie Nanyi, just how famous was he? If you stopped anyone on campus at random, they would nod and say they’d heard his name.
The factors that made someone famous in university were limited: good looks, outstanding achievements, a wealthy family, or a legendary romantic history.
Xie Nanyi excelled in the first three categories and was also a high-quality Alpha.
Although Pei Xingzhi was something of a legend himself, his reputation paled in comparison to Xie Nanyi’s.
Both were listed among the “Top Five Freshman Sensations,” their rankings right next to each other. Setting aside family background and gender, their looks and academic performance were evenly matched, but reality rarely allowed such distinctions to be ignored.
The gap in social class and gender was undeniable, which meant that while they were often mentioned together in campus lore, the two had never actually met since the start of the semester.
But now, the legendary Young Master Xie was right beside him. Pei Xingzhi took a deep breath and turned his head to look at the boy sleeping soundly next to him.
At first glance, he didn’t seem particularly extraordinary.
Pei Xingzhi leaned in slowly and patted his shoulder, trying to wake him. The September heat was still oppressive, and the only relief in the classroom came from an old ceiling fan creaking as it spun lazily, doing little to cool the air.
Pei Xingzhi’s clothes were nearly soaked through, his thin short-sleeved shirt clinging damply to his skin.
Xie Nanyi clearly couldn’t stand the heat either, his bangs were damp with sweat. Yet even in such a disheveled state, his striking appearance remained undeniable.
His well-defined brow bone, high-bridged nose, and the glimpse of delicate collarbones visible beneath his slender neck all stood out. The two perfectly placed moles on the bridge of his nose added a touch of allure. Despite the sweltering heat, Xie Nanyi was still wearing long sleeves, bundled up tightly.
Was this the so-called “forbidden desire” fashion trend? Clearly, not everyone could pull it off.
If Pei Xingzhi were an Omega, he might have felt a flutter of excitement by now. Unfortunately, he was just an unromantic Beta.
“Xie Nanyi, wake up.” After a couple of nudges failed to rouse him, Pei Xingzhi simply pulled up a chair and sat down beside him.
The indoor temperature had climbed to nearly 40°C. Pei Xingzhi wiped the sweat from his forehead, rolled his sleeves up to his shoulders, and grabbed a random sheet of paper from the desk to fan Xie Nanyi.
He called out several times, but Xie Nanyi remained motionless, as if dead asleep. The stifling heat in the room only amplified Pei Xingzhi’s desire to get out. Frustrated, he gave Xie Nanyi a firm push.
Xie Nanyi still showed no reaction.
Pei Xingzhi inwardly thought, “This is bad.” In this kind of weather and environment, even an Alpha might succumb to heatstroke. Pei Xingzhi patted him twice, but seeing no response, he had no choice but to take emergency measures. He began dragging Xie Nanyi toward a corner.
“Let go.”
Forced to stand up abruptly, Xie Nanyi, who had been pretending to sleep, immediately opened his eyes. Using Pei Xingzhi’s support to rise, he snapped at him to keep his distance.
He had encountered such persistent pursuers before, but this was the first time someone had tried to drag him away like this.
Xie Nanyi glanced at the boy, messy long hair, an overly pretty face, disheveled clothes…
In short, he didn’t look like a decent person at all.
“Stay away from me.”
Xie Nanyi’s voice and gaze were chilling. Pei Xingzhi guiltily withdrew his hand, raising it halfway in a gesture of surrender.
“Sorry, I tried calling you several times, but you didn’t wake up. I thought you had fainted from heatstroke. I was just trying to give you first aid, I meant no harm.” Pei Xingzhi apologized sincerely. Though he didn’t know what Xie Nanyi had assumed about his actions, he needed a favor now, and enduring this moment would bring peace.
“The club members said you have the key. Please open the door and let me out.”
“Why?” Xie Nanyi frowned, exhaustion evident between his brows. His mind was a mess, weighed down by the fatigue of being woken up and the physical pain. He didn’t even process Pei Xingzhi’s words, instinctively retorting.
“What do you mean, ‘why’? I need to leave.”
Xie Nanyi’s question left Pei Xingzhi dumbfounded. He had heard that Xie Nanyi had a bad temper, but he never expected it to be this terrible.
“You woke me up, and without even apologizing, you expect me to let you out?” Xie Nanyi stood up, towering over Pei Xingzhi. As he spoke, he lowered his gaze slightly, his tone dripping with the arrogance of someone in a superior position.
The sudden release of pheromones from Xie Nanyi made Pei Xingzhi’s stomach churn. Though Betas couldn’t smell pheromones, they could fully sense the pressure they exerted, like the spiritual energy released by protagonists in cultivation novels. The impact of the pheromones made Pei Xingzhi’s legs go weak. Stumbling forward, he fell into Xie Nanyi’s arms.
Even if he was going to fall, he’d take someone down with him.
“Pei Xingzhi, I’m here to save you!”
Just as the other club members, armed with the key begged from the club president and followed by a large crowd, opened the door, they stumbled upon the two embracing.
Xie Nanyi lay on the floor, covering his lips and turning his head to the side, one arm wrapped around Pei Xingzhi’s waist, his cheeks flushed with a suspicious redness. Pei Xingzhi was on top of him, hands resting on Xie Nanyi’s shoulders, his forehead glistening with sweat as he breathed heavily.
The student at the front hadn’t expected to witness such a suggestive scene. Letting out a surprised “Wow,” he led the crowd back out of the classroom, thoughtfully closing the door behind them.
“Why run? Don’t you know you should help me up…” Xie Nanyi hadn’t held back earlier, and Pei Xingzhi now felt weak and limp. Despite pushing against the floor several times with his arms, he still couldn’t manage to stand.
“Xie Nanyi, could you help me up first before we settle any other scores? I haven’t eaten since noon, and my legs feel a bit weak now.” Seeing Xie Nanyi’s expression darken beneath him, Pei Xingzhi had no choice but to soften his tone and admit his mistake. If a fight broke out now, he would undoubtedly be the loser.
“You’re called Pei Xingzhi?”
“That’s right.”
Surprisingly, Xie Nanyi didn’t lose his temper. Instead, he frowned as he looked at the person before him. Just as Pei Xingzhi thought he might be killed by the intensity of that gaze, Xie Nanyi finally moved, wrapping his arms around Pei Xingzhi and lifting him into an embrace.
Fortunately, Pei Xingzhi’s discomfort lasted only a few minutes. Once it passed, he was back to his lively self. Xie Nanyi sat beside him with his arms crossed, his cold expression clearly indicating he was plotting something unpleasant.
“Thank you. That was my fault earlier. Let’s call it even.” Pei Xingzhi flexed his wrists, sneaking a sidelong glance at Xie Nanyi, who seemed lost in his own world.
Truly a top-tier Alpha, just a slight release of pheromones had left him feeling so miserable. Such a human weapon shouldn’t be allowed to roam freely; he ought to be locked in a dark room to interrogate prisoners.
“Well, I’m off.” With the door already open, Pei Xingzhi had no desire to spend another moment with Xie Nanyi. Seeing that he was being ignored, he didn’t bother trying to engage further. After bidding farewell, he stood up and headed for the exit.
“Wait.”
Pei Xingzhi had only taken a few steps when Xie Nanyi called out to stop him.
“What is it?” My dear young master, what nonsense are you up to now?
Pei Xingzhi rolled his eyes, but when he turned back, he wore a warm, friendly smile.
His features leaned toward androgyny, with delicate eyes and brows that often made people overlook his gender. Even when deliberately feigning innocence, his charm shone brightly, impossible to ignore.
“You’re called Pei Xingzhi?” The young master seemed to have hearing problems, repeating the same question seven or eight times.
“That’s right.”
“You’re really called Pei Xingzhi?” The young master frowned, revealing his inner parrot.
“That’s right.” Pei Xingzhi was growing impatient. The room had been unbearably hot since earlier, and he was eager to return to his dorm and enjoy the air conditioning. “What exactly do you want to say?”
“I’m Xie Nanyi.”
“I know that.” Pei Xingzhi was growing even more impatient. Xie Nanyi’s name was well-known at Alliance University, anyone could recite a thing or two about him. But that didn’t give him the right to keep him here just to show off.
Xie Nanyi stared at his face, as if doubting something, his usually cold expression slowly cracking. He raised his right hand, rolled up his sleeve, and revealed the name on his wrist.
The two characters were covered in scars, some had already scabbed over and fallen off, others had just healed. No matter how many marks covered them, the two characters remained clearly visible.
Pei Xingzhi.
“I’m Xie Nanyi, your Imprinter.”
Pei Xingzhi heard the word “Imprinter” clearly, but when it involved himself, he suddenly couldn’t comprehend it.
In his understanding, these three words shouldn’t have any connection to him.
Just as he had always been unrelated to the word “luck.”
Elders often said Pei Xingzhi’s name was well-chosen, Xingzhi, Xingzhi, like rivers flowing and mountains standing still. With a name like that, they said he was destined for great things.
His parents were delighted to hear this, but Pei Xingzhi thought they were just talking nonsense. After all, his life had never followed the path they had laid out for him.
Just as everyone said he would follow in his brother’s footsteps and differentiate into an excellent Alpha, after all, AO family combinations rarely produce other genders, Pei Xingzhi was the exception: he differentiated into a Beta, the most common gender in society.
Today’s society is composed of 20% Alphas, 10% Omegas, and 70% Betas.
With their smaller numbers and the distinct advantages brought by pheromones, Alphas and Omegas naturally hold higher status in society.
Additional social benefits, military service exemptions, tax reductions, and various other preferential policies are added to the legal system each year, often numbering in the dozens.
Betas are not entitled to these benefits.
Of course, Betas can also evolve.
At the age of 15, Betas undergo secondary differentiation. A very small number of Betas develop exclusive imprints. These imprints compel them to bond with either an Alpha or an Omega, and the compatibility of the imprint far surpasses the attraction of pheromones.
In other words, even if the Beta’s soul-imprinted partner already has a pheromone-compatible match, that person will still be uncontrollably drawn to the Beta who bears their name.
After secondary differentiation, Pei Xingzhi remained an ordinary Beta, without developing any imprint.
Though he couldn’t become an exception, Pei Xingzhi didn’t think there was anything wrong with his situation. A life unconstrained by others was truly his own, and he quite enjoyed being extraordinary within the ordinary.
But now, the Alpha standing before him was claiming to be his imprinted partner?
