- He Lost Control with Jealousy — What Happened to Being Untouchable?
- Chapter 97 - Come Here
Sang Wan froze for a moment as she looked at him. It was clearly breakfast for two, how could she possibly finish it all by herself? The way he spoke made it sound like she was starving him.
“I never said you couldn’t eat.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, she seemed to realize something, and her face instantly grew warm.
How could this man still be so shameless even outside?
“Have you no shame? What will people think if they hear you?”
Lu Tingzhou frowned, his expression serious. “Think what? That I’m not allowed to eat breakfast?” His gaze darkened as he stared at her. “Or is it, Wanwan, that the ‘eating’ you’re talking about isn’t the same as what I mean?”
Sang Wan watched as his face slowly drew closer. She raised her hand and pushed him back upright, her cheeks flushing red.
“Shameless.”
With a ding, the elevator reached the top floor. Lu Tingzhou straightened his clothes and instantly stood tall.
The moment the doors opened, the man who had just been utterly shameless immediately reverted to his usual aloof demeanor.
The air of untouchable nobility and unapproachable elegance was executed flawlessly.
Sang Wan bit her lip as she looked at him. Two-faced.
…
The spacious, bright CEO’s office.
Lu Tingzhou led her to the sofa in the reception area and sat her down.
“Eat first.”
He placed the breakfast on the coffee table, unpacking each item one by one.
Warm soy milk, freshly fried dough sticks, delicate steamed buns, a bowl of wontons.
And… the fruits and milk he had specially brought from home.
For the first time, the office, usually filled with cold, rigid lines and the sharp aura of business, was imbued with the warmth of everyday life.
Sang Wan cradled the soy milk, taking small sips. A corner of her heart felt inexplicably full.
Lu Tingzhou watched her eat like a little hamster, his gaze softening unconsciously.
He didn’t eat, simply sitting beside her and quietly observing.
Under his stare, Sang Wan grew a little self-conscious. She picked up a dough stick and held it to his lips.
“You eat too.”
Lu Tingzhou raised an eyebrow and took a bite from her hand. Just as she was about to pull back, he suddenly grasped her wrist and finished the remaining half in one go.
His warm breath brushed against her fingertips, sending a faint tickle through her.
While she was still dazed, Lu Tingzhou leaned over to her other hand and took a few sips of her soy milk.
The entire process was effortlessly flirtatious. After drinking, he ruffled her hair. “Take your time eating. I have work to do, there’s a meeting later.”
As soon as Lu Tingzhou finished speaking, Lin Hao knocked and entered, delivering the files that needed to be handled today.
He also reminded, “President Lu, the video conference with the North American division is at 9:50. We’re already two minutes late.”
“Understood.”
Lu Tingzhou responded and stood up to head to the meeting room.
“Be good and finish eating before you start sketching, alright?”
His tone was gentle.
Sang Wan nodded obediently.
After Lu Tingzhou left for the meeting, Sang Wan leisurely ate her wontons.
Once she was full and satisfied, she curled up on the sofa, letting her mind drift for a few minutes.
Then she got up to fetch a pencil and paper from Lu Tingzhou’s desk.
Remembering the marriage certificate, she carefully searched through the documents on his desk, taking extra caution.
But she didn’t catch another glimpse of it.
Sang Wan pressed her lips together. Well, he wouldn’t belong to anyone else anyway. She could just wait at ease.
Lu Tingzhou had a cold demeanor. He wasn’t passionate in matters of love, just as she and Su Mo had analyzed before. People like him, once they set their hearts on someone, it was for life.
A faint smile curved her lips. In the absolute silence, she found an unexpected sense of peace.
The inspiration that had been clogged and vague in her mind just days before now seemed to be cleared by an invisible hand.
Lines, light and shadow, structure…
Each emerged clearly before her.
She didn’t even need to deliberate, her pen glided effortlessly across the paper.
So, this was what he meant by “the atmosphere of work.”
The chaos of the outside world, the restlessness within, all seemed to be shut out.
A calm heart brings clarity of thought.
By the time Lu Tingzhou returned from his meeting, the petite woman on the sofa was already completely immersed in her own world.
Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a soft glow over her.
Her eyes were lowered, long lashes casting delicate, fan-like shadows beneath them. The corners of her lips curled slightly, carrying a hint of satisfaction and pride she herself hadn’t even noticed.
He didn’t disturb her.
Just watching her filled his chest with a sensation so profound it could only be described as fulfillment.
With her by his side, even the tedious financial reports seemed a little more endearing.
His efficiency at work had never been higher.
Time passed unnoticed until Sang Wan finally set down her pen.
She gazed at the sketch before her, a new-style cheongsam with the theme “I Like You”, now taking shape. Satisfied, she let out a long, contented sigh.
“Seems like coming today was the right choice.”
She turned her head and saw Lu Tingzhou already seated at his desk.
She smiled at him, her peach-blossom eyes shimmering with scattered starlight.
“It really feels different, I’m way more inspired here than at home.”
Lu Tingzhou set down his fountain pen and quirked his lips slightly.
“Good. Keep at it.”
No excessive praise, but his deep eyes brimmed with admiration and encouragement.
Time slipped by quietly.
Lu Tingzhou clicked into a video conference.
Instantly, over a dozen figures in suits, sitting stiffly upright, appeared on the screen.
“President Lu.”
They greeted him in unison, expressions solemn, not daring to breathe too loudly.
This was the highest-level annual meeting of the Lu Corporation. With too many subsidiaries, he attended each branch’s year-end review online.
Lu Tingzhou’s demeanor was calm, his voice steady and authoritative as he listened to each report, occasionally posing a question, each one sharp and incisive.
The world on the screen was tense, serious, filled with the cold, cutting edge of business.
As he immersed himself back into work, Sang Wan lay on the sofa, chin propped in her hands, gazing up at him.
Seeing him like this suddenly reminded her of the way he had once treated her: decisive, commanding, the President Lu everyone revered.
And yet now, he was the Lu Tingzhou who brushed her teeth for her, bought her breakfast, indulged her every little whim.
Two extremes, perfectly fused in him, exuding a lethally captivating charm.
Sang Wan stared, mesmerized.
Lu Tingzhou was in the middle of critiquing the Southwest Division head’s annual report when, from the corner of his eye, he noticed Sang Wan watching him, chin in hand.
Their eyes met, and she didn’t even blink.
Mid-sentence, his words abruptly halted.
On the screen, the hearts of every Southwest Division executive leapt into their throats, certain they had misspoken.
But their cold, unyielding President Lu was looking somewhere off-screen.
His gaze, once sharp, had softened into something deep and tender.
Lin Hao, also in the video conference, could tell what was going on when he noticed his boss zoning out. He couldn’t help but speak up to divert everyone’s attention for him.
Lu Tingzhou’s thoughts snapped back, and his gaze refocused on the computer screen.
Ten minutes later, the video conference ended.
The beauty before Sang Wan’s eyes drew her into memories, back then, she had also foolishly hidden outside the meeting room, stealing glances at him.
But at that time, Lu Tingzhou’s face had been etched with “unattainable” and “stay away.” Later, after they got together, Sang Wan had teased him about it more than once.
Lu Tingzhou closed his laptop and saw Sang Wan still staring at him. The corners of his lips curled into a faint smile as he beckoned her over. “Come here.”
Snapping out of her reverie, Sang Wan was utterly bewitched by his gentle, smiling eyes. She obediently stood and walked toward him, completely unaware of why he had called her over.
The crisp sound of her high heels tapping against the floor became the only accompaniment in the spacious office.
Step by step, she walked toward him, toward the man who had just held the fate of dozens of subsidiaries in his hands, yet whose gaze now softened only for her.
As if pulled by invisible strings, enchanted, she willingly moved closer.
Three steps.
Two steps.
One step.
The moment she stopped in front of him, before she could even ask, “What is it?”
Her wrist was seized by an unyielding force.
With a swift turn, Sang Wan let out a short gasp before being yanked into Lu Tingzhou’s embrace, landing heavily on his scorching lap.
His other hand firmly cradled the back of her head, his cool fingertips tangling in her soft hair.
The next second, his kiss, carrying his unmistakable scent, descended upon her like a storm.
Unrelenting. Unquestionable.
This kiss, much like the man himself, was domineering, unrestrained, even a touch wild.
He pried open her lips, invading and conquering.
The air was filled with his crisp, intoxicating scent.
Sang Wan’s mind went blank under his assault, her body melting. She could only cling to his shoulders, pliantly surrendering.
Between his lips, she tasted the restrained impulse he had been holding back.
She could almost swear, the composed and controlled CEO during the meeting had been holding himself back the moment their eyes met.
Holding back the urge to kiss her.
This realization sent a scorching heat through her heart.
Ever since learning she was pregnant, she had found every excuse to refuse his ardor.
Clearly, this man had been starving.
Just as she was running out of breath, thinking he would finally end this prolonged kiss, Lu Tingzhou suddenly swept her up into his arms.
His sturdy arms held her securely.
“Lu-”
Her half-spoken words were swallowed once more by his lips.
He carried her, kissing her deeply as he walked.
His steps were steady, but his kiss grew fiercer.
Sang Wan’s vision blurred, the sharp lines of the office spun and overlapped until all that remained was the striking, handsome outline before her.
She didn’t know if it was the prolonged kiss depriving her brain of oxygen,
Or if she, too, was already drowning in desire.
Thud.
A soft sound, the door of the restroom being kicked shut behind them.
The outside world was instantly sealed away.
Only the sound of their ragged breaths remained.
The next moment, Sang Wan was gently laid on the spacious bed.
The mattress dipped softly beneath her as Lu Tingzhou leaned over her, his hands braced on either side, his towering frame completely enveloping her.
He looked down at her from above, his usually unfathomable dark eyes now burning with two dim yet scorching flames that were startlingly intense.
Sang Wan’s heart skipped countless beats.
She gazed at him, this Lu Tingzhou before her was devastatingly alluring.
Pinning her beneath him, he gave her no chance to catch her breath. One hand slid down, gripping the V-neck of her knit dress.
With a slight tug, he pulled it downward.
The fabric stretched effortlessly under his grasp.
