- He Lost Control with Jealousy — What Happened to Being Untouchable?
- Chapter 84 - Do You Want a Boy or a Girl?
Lu Tingzhou’s eyes darkened, as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over his head. The fire burning fiercely in his heart was instantly extinguished, leaving only faint wisps of smoke.
He took a step forward, his voice already carrying a barely perceptible hoarseness.
“Baby, what’s wrong?”
The familiar scent of the man, mingled with the steam from the hot spring, enveloped her, dangerous yet intoxicatingly seductive.
Sang Wan instinctively retreated until her back pressed against the cool glass of the floor-to-ceiling window. Clutching her collar, her gaze flickered away nervously.
“I… I just wanted to relax and enjoy the hot spring properly. I was afraid you might… get carried away.”
“I’m a little scared of water.”
She didn’t dare look at him, feeling both embarrassed and worried he might notice something.
Lu Tingzhou stared at her guarded expression, and the last embers of his desire were extinguished by her deer-in-headlights demeanor.
All that remained was helpless resignation.
He sighed and finally chose to relent, raising his hands in a gesture of surrender.
“Alright, as you wish.”
“We’ll just soak in the hot spring. Nothing else.”
He moved closer to Sang Wan, pulling her into his arms and planting a soft kiss on her.
“Lu Tingzhou, you have to promise me.”
Lu Tingzhou chuckled hoarsely. Was he really that terrifying?
He tried to recall which time he had been so unrestrained that it had frightened her like this.
After some thought, it seemed like every time had been…
His face warmed slightly, and he cleared his throat. “I promise.”
With his assurance, Sang Wan began changing into her swimsuit.
To spare himself further torment, Lu Tingzhou turned and strode straight toward the steaming hot spring pool.
Sang Wan watched his figure disappear into the water, her heart filled with indescribable emotions.
A man who was otherwise domineering enough to crush anything in his path always sheathed his sharpest edges in her presence.
It was impossible for her not to feel the depth of Lu Tingzhou’s love.
To have a man like him constantly doting on her, meticulously tending to her emotions, and indulging her every little whim.
He was nothing short of the epitome of a perfect husband and lover.
Once she changed, she dawdled her way into the water. Though she longed to be close to him, she deliberately kept an arm’s length between them.
The warm spring water enveloped her body, washing away the exhaustion and chill of the past few days.
Lu Tingzhou watched her cautious movements and smirked. “Don’t trust me that much?”
“If you really lost control, it’s not like I could escape anyway,” Sang Wan muttered under her breath.
“Are you hinting that I should lose control?”
Lu Tingzhou teased her deliberately.
“I didn’t say that!”
“If I promised, I can restrain myself.” Lu Tingzhou’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he looked at her. “Relax and soak.”
Through the rising steam, Sang Wan met his gaze and smiled faintly.
Deep down, she did trust him, she was just afraid she wouldn’t be able to resist temptation herself.
Lu Tingzhou shifted closer and pulled her into his arms. “Be good. I’ve been exhausted these past few days. Let’s just rest for a while.”
Holding her, he leaned back against the edge of the pool, closing his eyes as the steam softened his sharp features.
Yet his overwhelming presence still surrounded Sang Wan like an invisible net, ensnaring her completely.
The air was thick with his scent.
Sang Wan didn’t dare look at him, his allure was too hard to resist.
Mimicking him, she closed her eyes and tried to relax.
Lu Tingzhou gritted his teeth subtly.
What’s up with this little fox? Has my charm stopped working?
He cracked one eye open sneakily and saw her meditating peacefully, which made him raise an eyebrow.
Without another word, he leaned in and kissed her.
Sang Wan pushed him away, and the man took the hint and backed off.
“I just wanted a kiss, I promise I won’t do anything else.”
Sang Wan frowned. Could that promise even be trusted?
Forget about others, she herself was already so heated she could barely sit still.
One more second, and she was afraid she might really lose control.
“It’s too hot… I don’t want to soak anymore.”
She rose from the water, droplets rolling down her fair skin, refracting an ambiguous glow under the light.
Lu Tingzhou slowly opened his eyes, his gaze lingering on her as his Adam’s apple bobbed.
Sang Wan fled in a fluster, quickly changing her clothes, her heart still pounding wildly.
“Lu Tingzhou, I want to go out for a walk,” she called to him as she pushed open the door.
“Alright.”
The man responded and soon changed his clothes as well.
Though what he had in mind didn’t happen, holding her hand and strolling through the scenic area felt just as nice.
Lu Tingzhou turned to look at her, his eyes brimming with unmistakable tenderness.
The night lights of the scenic area were beautiful, and the mountain air was crisp.
Like any ordinary couple, they walked hand in hand, eating roasted sweet potatoes from a street vendor and meandering beneath a corridor adorned with prayer plaques.
That sense of leisure and tranquility diluted the dangerously intimate atmosphere from the hot spring villa.
It wasn’t until they worried about Qi Qi that they drove back to the hotel.
“I’ll go check if Qi Qi is back yet.”
Sang Wan found an excuse and slipped out of the room.
Her heart raced as she put on her mask and hurried into the pharmacy next to the hotel.
“Hello, I need… a pregnancy test,” she whispered, her cheeks burning.
The clerk, unfazed, handed her two different brands.
“If you’re worried about accuracy, you can try another one.”
Clutching the small box, she hid it in her pocket and sneaked back to the room like a thief.
Lu Tingzhou was on a phone call and barely noticed when she slipped into the bathroom, locking the door behind her.
She tore open one of the packages, her hands trembling as she read the instructions.
The few minutes of waiting felt like an eternity.
When the unmistakable double lines appeared clearly before her eyes, Sang Wan clapped a hand over her mouth.
Her heart skipped a beat before being flooded with overwhelming joy.
Shock and elation.
She was really… pregnant?
The realization made her feel lightheaded, as if she were floating on clouds.
Then came a wave of relief, she was grateful she had resisted Lu Tingzhou’s temptation tonight.
Knock, knock, knock!
Lu Tingzhou’s voice came through the door. “What are you sneaking around in there for?”
Startled, Sang Wan quickly wrapped up the test and tossed it into the trash. “Oh, my stomach’s a little upset,” she mumbled.
Lu Tingzhou’s 33rd birthday was coming up soon. She’d give him the surprise then.
She picked up the other unopened box, planning to test again later, but the instructions recommended using morning urine for the most accurate result.
Carefully tucking it into the deepest part of her toiletry bag, she carried this sweet secret with her, eagerly awaiting dawn.
The next day, as soon as the sky began to lighten, Sang Wan tiptoed out of bed and rushed straight to the bathroom.
When the second test also showed two unmistakable lines, she finally couldn’t hold back, pressing her lips together in a silent smile.
Her eyes grew warm, glistening with tears.
She raised a hand and gently touched her still-flat stomach.
Inside her was already a tiny life, hers and Lu Tingzhou’s.
This little one must have known that Mom and Dad had been through too many ups and downs, and had come especially to surprise them.
…
On the way back to Shencheng, the car’s heater was turned up high.
Sang Wan leaned against Lu Tingzhou’s shoulder and asked casually, “Lu Tingzhou, do you really like boys? I can see how well you treat Kaikai.”
Lu Tingzhou kept his eyes on the road, his fingers flexing slightly on the steering wheel before he reached over to pinch her cheek.
“If it’s our child,” he said in a low voice, a smile playing at the corners of his lips, “I’m not picky.”
After a pause, he turned his head slightly to glance at Sang Wan and added, “As long as it’s yours, I’ll love them.”
Sang Wan’s heart felt as if it had been scalded by honey, so sweet it tingled.
She pressed her lips together in a soft laugh and teased him deliberately, “As if you have a choice.”
“I don’t,” Lu Tingzhou chuckled, his voice brimming with amusement. “In this lifetime, I’m completely at your mercy. So as long as you’re the mother of my child, nothing else matters.”
Sang Wan ducked her head slightly, her smile blooming from the depths of her heart, lighting up her eyes and the curve of her lips.
…
Meanwhile, back in Shencheng at the Lu family’s ancestral home, the atmosphere was anything but warm.
Lin Yao had been unilaterally dismissed by Lu Corporation, and Lin’s father had called again.
“Brother Qishan, Tingzhou’s actions are a slap in the face to me. I’ve never been anything but cooperative in our family’s partnership.”
“Brother Lin, with our years of friendship, you know where I stand. Just give me a little more time.”
After hanging up, Lu Qishan’s face was stormy, and before he could even catch his breath, his eldest daughter-in-law, Sun Meixi, emerged from the side hall, her eyes red and her voice shrill.
“Dad, I’ve already asked Third Grandfather to step in. If you can’t give me an answer on this matter, don’t blame me for not showing you respect.”
She slammed a document onto the table, her voice trembling.
“If Lu Tingzhou insists on marrying that woman surnamed Sang into the family, I’ll request to have myself and Jinxuan removed from the Lu family registry.”
“You… are you trying to kill me?”
Lu Qishan was shaking with rage as he stood abruptly, pointing at her, unable to speak for a long moment.
Finally, he grabbed his coat and roared, “Get the car ready! We’re going to Yunxi Mountain Residence!”
…
At eight o’clock, Yunxi Mountain Residence.
Lu Tingzhou’s car slowly pulled into the courtyard.
As they got out of the car, he wrapped an arm around Sang Wan’s waist and pressed a kiss to her forehead, his gaze tender.
“We’re home, little fox.”
Sang Wan’s heart swelled with sweetness as she pushed open the door, about to respond to his teasing.
Only to freeze at the sight of the icy figure seated in the living room.
Lu Qishan sat rigidly in the center of the sofa, his expression dark, an aura of chilling hostility radiating from him.
The warmth of the moment before plummeted instantly into an icy standstill.
Lu Tingzhou instinctively tightened his grip on her hand, shielding her at his side.
“What are you doing here?”
His detached tone bore no resemblance to how one would speak to their own father.
Lu Qishan took in his son’s unyielding stance, his anger flaring.
“Third Son, have I been too lenient with you?”
Lu Tingzhou almost laughed at the absurdity. Lenient?
Did his father even know the meaning of the word?
“Be good, go upstairs first.”
After reassuring Sang Wan to return to their room, Lu Tingzhou took a seat not far from Lu Qishan.
“In your eyes, what does leniency mean?”
“Is defying you repeatedly what you call leniency?”
As Lu Tingzhou posed the question, the walnut in Lu Qishan’s hand slammed onto the coffee table with a sharp crack.
“Lu Tingzhou, I’m your father. How dare you speak to me like that?”
Lu Tingzhou frowned slightly and chuckled. “So, you still remember you’re my father? Then why didn’t you remember that when I was being bullied by the first and second branches of the family? Now you suddenly want to discipline me.”
