- He Lost Control with Jealousy — What Happened to Being Untouchable?
- Chapter 51 - Confession
Sang Wan blushed instantly. This man was too cunning, he clearly had his own ideas but deliberately made her anxious.
Returning to her room and seeing her clothes laid out on the bed, Sang Wan felt even more convinced that she had been very smart to sign the agreement on the spot.
With Lu Tingzhou pulling her into bed so outrageously, if they were photographed tomorrow, he would handle all the consequences.
This time, when the man said he was going to sleep, he really meant it. He hadn’t slept well for several days in a row, but tonight, holding the person he had longed for in his arms, he could finally rest peacefully.
The next day, Sang Wan woke up from the heat.
As she opened her eyes, she realized she was being held by Lu Tingzhou, her face buried in his chest, her arm naturally draped over his waist.
Even worse was her leg, shamelessly resting on top of the man.
This posture…
“Awake?”
A deep, husky voice came from above her, rough with the morning’s grogginess.
Sang Wan tried to move, but Lu Tingzhou tightened his embrace, resting his chin on the top of her head.
“It’s so hot.”
Sang Wan felt like she was hugging a furnace.
“Lu Tingzhou, do you have a fever? Should we go to the hospital?”
Lu Tingzhou ignored her question and instead asked softly, “Isn’t your contract about to expire?”
Sang Wan didn’t understand why he suddenly brought this up until she looked up and saw the news about her on his phone.
“Yeah, I’m planning to start my own studio.”
“Mm. I’ll have Jinxuan coordinate with Bai Wei about the studio. Lu Corporation’s film and television division can be directly at your disposal.”
His tone was casual, as if discussing the most ordinary topic.
“Lu Tingzhou, are you still half-asleep and not thinking clearly?”
Lu Tingzhou curved his lips and lifted her slightly in his arms. “What do you mean?”
“Lu Jinxuan’s film company is already well-established. If I suddenly step in, it’s like taking advantage of his hard work. Plus, I’d have to bring my entire team with me.”
Even though Sang Wan wasn’t a businessperson, she knew what this implied. What Lu Tingzhou was suggesting was essentially letting her snatch Lu Jinxuan’s share of the pie.
“The company was invested with Lu Corporation’s money, in other words, my money. If I want to give it to you, I can.” Lu Tingzhou spoke as if it were nothing. “Besides, from now on, Lu Corporation’s PR and legal teams will be available to you anytime. If something like that online harassment happens again, you won’t have to worry.”
Sang Wan was stunned. Wasn’t he making it blatantly obvious that he was the one backing her?
Even though it was true, he couldn’t just flaunt it so openly in front of everyone, could he?
“You must be delirious from the fever.” Sang Wan reached up to touch his forehead. “You really do feel warm. You should get up and go to the hospital.”
Lu Tingzhou was a little exasperated by her reaction. He grabbed her wrist as she tried to sit up. “Don’t worry. I’ll sign Xiao Yan first, then you. That way, everything will make sense.”
Sang Wan blinked. Storm Rising was produced by Lu Corporation, with Xiao Yan as the male lead and her as the female lead. Under those circumstances, it would indeed seem perfectly reasonable.
The reason he had invested in Storm Rising was to pave the way for Sang Wan. Now, he could finally protect her openly.
Sang Wan froze for a moment, then blinked in confusion. “President Lu, are you infatuated with me? Or have you fallen for me?”
Lu Tingzhou narrowed his eyes, leaning closer with a dangerous glint, deliberately teasing her. “What if I just want your body?”
Sang Wan shrank back, frowning. “Isn’t the price a bit too high?”
“You think you’re not worth it?”
Sang Wan glared at him. “I’m priceless.”
“Wanwan, don’t doubt me. I’m not a philanthropist. If I’m willing to spare no expense for something, it can only mean it’s what my heart desires.”
Lu Tingzhou’s low voice sent a jolt through Sang Wan’s ears. This was the first time he had ever spoken so plainly and directly about his feelings for her.
Though she had sensed it before, still…
Seeing her stunned expression, Lu Tingzhou pulled her into his arms and kissed her gently. “Don’t doubt it. Every word is true.”
Sang Wan was genuinely shocked. She hadn’t expected this aloof man to have been meticulously planning his moves long before she had even begun to worry about his indifference.
“I never imagined President Lu was hiding such depths. You made me work so hard, thinking I wasn’t charming enough to catch your eye.”
Lu Tingzhou chuckled. “No one else could, except you.”
With that, he reached into his pocket and placed a card in her hand. “TV dramas and novels always have scenes where a man gives his woman a supplementary card to spend freely. We shouldn’t miss out on that.”
Sang Wan blinked at the card in her hand, her eyes brightening.
“President Lu, is there a limit?”
Meeting her fox-like gaze, Lu Tingzhou smirked. “Yes. It won’t cover half a billion.”
Sang Wan shot him a look, then sniffed the card. “The scent of money.”
Lu Tingzhou narrowed his eyes, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “Little gold-digger.”
At that moment, he felt a surge of relief, he could give his little fox everything she loved.
As the mood lightened, Sang Wan suddenly realized her hands and legs were still draped over him, and she quickly pulled away, her skin burning.
She struggled to sit up. “You should go. Get checked at the hospital. A fever isn’t something to ignore.”
Just as she moved, her wrist was caught. She looked up at the man on the bed. “The recording wraps up in two days. We’ll be back soon. Go see a doctor, behave.”
Lu Tingzhou frowned slightly as he met her bright eyes. Then, he tugged her hand.
Sang Wan’s eyes widened instantly.
The man beneath her gazed at her with dark intensity.
“In the morning, a man’s body temperature is naturally higher. It’s not an illness.”
…
Watching Lu Tingzhou’s retreating figure, Sang Wan felt reluctant to see him go.
Producer Yao approached with a smile. “Sang Wan, let’s collaborate more in the future. Your popularity is bound to keep rising.”
Sang Wan flushed slightly. “Director Yao, I’m sorry for delaying the schedule.”
She quickly rejoined the group. Zhuo Fan looked at her with concern. “Wanwan, are you feeling better?”
It took her a second to realize, her absence had been excused as illness.
Biting her lip, she smiled. “Senior, I’m much better. It’s nothing.”
The live-stream audience, seeing Sang Wan pushing through despite being “sick,” showered her with praise.
[Who knew Sang Wan, who looks so delicate, would be so resilient?]
[True. Since yesterday’s straw-cutting task, she hasn’t slacked off once.]
In the car, Lu Tingzhou watched the flood of compliments about his woman and couldn’t help but smile.
“President Lu, what should we do about Aunt Wu?”
The smile faded from Lu Tingzhou’s face at Lin Hao’s question, his expression turning grave.
“Send her back to the old house. If she’s loyal, let her stay with the others.”
After a pause, he added, “Transfer the South Bay villa to Song Xinran’s name. Also, set up a separate education fund for Sheng Kai.”
Lin Hao finally understood, President Lu was doing this to reassure Sang Wan.
“Understood. I’ll handle it as soon as we return.”
After speaking, he glanced nervously at the man in the rearview mirror. “President Lu, we’ve uncovered some details about the wire incident.”
The dim interior light made Lu Tingzhou’s already sharp features appear even more severe.
“Speak,” he said, his voice steady yet still carrying an undeniable pressure.
Lin Hao tightened his grip on the steering wheel and said solemnly, “We’ve gotten to the bottom of the wire incident.”
“The original wire operator suddenly called in sick the day before the incident, complaining of vomiting and diarrhea.”
“The temporary replacement initially insisted it was a mechanical failure. But after several days of investigation, the man couldn’t withstand the pressure and finally confessed. He said he was feeling drowsy at the time and accidentally pressed the wrong button.”
A cold glint flashed in Lu Tingzhou’s eyes. “Drowsy?”
“Yes,” Lin Hao continued. “Before the incident, Xu Mingyue went backstage and gave that temporary operator a pack of cigarettes.”
“She claimed she was afraid of heights and asked him to operate the equipment more carefully.”
The temperature inside the car seemed to drop several degrees in an instant.
“Were the cigarettes tampered with?” Lu Tingzhou’s voice grew colder.
“We checked. The contents would induce drowsiness quickly.”
Lin Hao paused, his tone cautious. “President Lu, Xu Mingyue is, after all, Miss Sang’s stepsister. This matter-”
The corners of Lu Tingzhou’s thin lips curled into a ruthless smile, his eyes glinting with icy amusement.
“Call the police.”
His voice was calm, without the slightest hesitation.
“Let her go in and reflect properly.”
Lin Hao felt a chill. Xu Mingyue had no remorse and was now walking straight into the line of fire, even divine intervention couldn’t save her.
…
That evening, the wail of police sirens shattered the tranquility of the Sang family villa district.
At that moment, Xu Mingyue was leisurely applying a face mask, scrolling through her phone, fantasizing about visiting Lu Jinxuan later.
With Sang Wan now belonging to Lu Tingzhou, Lu Jinxuan no longer had anyone to pine for. Perhaps with a little more effort on her part, he would gradually accept her.
Xu Shiming had just returned from work and stepped out of his car when a police cruiser pulled up in front of his house.
“Is Xu Mingyue home?”
Xu Shiming’s heart skipped a beat as he hurried forward. “Officers, what’s the matter?”
“We suspect her involvement in a case of intentional harm. We need her to come with us for questioning!”
The cold, stern voice made Xu Shiming’s hands tremble. His mind immediately went to the incident at the film studio.
The victim was Xiao Yan, and the impact was significant, this wouldn’t be a simple matter.
Two officers followed Xu Shiming inside. Xu Mingyue was still lying on the sofa, mask on, scrolling through her phone.
“Mingyue, get up.”
Xu Shiming frowned at the sight of her in a short skirt, barely covering her thighs, sprawled on the sofa.
Xu Mingyue, scolded, sat up unhappily. “Dad, why are you-”
She peeled off the mask and froze at the sight of the two officers behind her father. “Dad, what did you do?”
“Mom! Mom, come quick! Dad’s in trouble!”
