- He Lost Control with Jealousy — What Happened to Being Untouchable?
- Chapter 50 - Compete for Affection
The journey was silent. Through the rearview mirror, he occasionally glanced at the motionless figure reclining in the back seat. The car drove into an expanse of open farmland, bumping along the narrow paths between the fields.
No lights, no people, only the starry sky reflected on the windows, as if they had fallen into another world, vast and serene.
When the car came to a stop, he unbuckled his seatbelt and, without any preamble, opened the back door and climbed in. Pulling the woman into his arms, he seated her on his lap, encircling her tightly. Ignoring her struggles, he buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling deeply the sweet, unique scent that belonged only to his little fox.
“Wanwan…”
His voice was hoarse, laden with five days’ worth of longing, exhaustion, and vulnerability. “Stop avoiding me. If there’s anything you want to know, just ask me directly.”
Sang Wan pounded his shoulders with her fists, but he held her firmly in place. Her eyes reddened with frustration. “Let me go! I need to return to the show, there’s a task tonight!”
“No. I already requested leave for you,” the man replied, his tone resolute and domineering. He pressed his forehead against her collarbone, rubbing it stubbornly.
“Take me out of your blacklist. Do you have any idea how worried I was these past few days, unable to reach you?”
Hearing this, Sang Wan felt a surge of bitterness. When his family had lectured her out of nowhere, he had been busy with another woman and her child. At that time, hadn’t she also been unable to reach him?
She struggled again, but his grip was unyielding. In frustration, she lowered her head and bit down on his shoulder.
“Hmm.”
A muffled groan escaped him, but he turned and began kissing her neck instead. A shiver ran through Sang Wan, and she immediately released her bite.
Damn this dog of a man, she cursed inwardly.
“Feel better now?” His deep-set eyes bore into hers, glinting with amusement. “If not, you can bite this side too.”
Staring at his handsome face, the fiery courage she had mustered to scold him instantly waned by a third. Chiding herself for her lack of resolve, she turned her head away awkwardly, refusing to meet his gaze.
Lu Tingzhou cupped her cheek with his large hand, stroking it gently to soothe her. He explained patiently, “Kaikai had a persistent fever. We were worried his heart condition might worsen, and the specialists in Beijing recommended a second surgery. That’s why I was delayed for a few days. As for my father’s opinions, they don’t dictate my choices.”
His gaze remained steady on Sang Wan, open and unwavering. “If there are any misunderstandings or grievances in the future, you can vent at me directly. But don’t suddenly disappear on me again, and never block me.”
Having said his piece, he relaxed slightly, yet his arms remained locked around her, unwilling to loosen his hold even a fraction.
The night breeze tousled Sang Wan’s hair, strands occasionally brushing against Lu Tingzhou’s face, sending tingles across his skin. Sensing the resistance in her body gradually fade, his heart began to crave more.
His lips, pressed against the delicate skin of her cheek, slowly trailed downward. Just as Sang Wan parted her lips to speak, his warm mouth captured hers.
The wind rustled through the fields, stirring whispers among the crops, while the faint chirping of insects added an intimate ambiance to the scene inside the car.
Lu Tingzhou kissed her as though pouring all the longing of those days apart into this lingering embrace.
By the time Sang Wan was dazed from his kisses, she suddenly realized his hands had begun wandering beneath her clothes. Jolting back to awareness, she grabbed his wrist, panting lightly. “No touching.”
“Don’t think a few explanations will make me forgive you. Your father was right, someone like me isn’t fit for your family, let alone for someone like President Lu.”
“Want to marry into our family?”
He leaned down to kiss away the dampness from the girl’s lashes, a faint smile curling at the corners of his lips.
Sang Wan frowned. “Who said I was going to your family? Not even an eight-carriage sedan could carry me there.”
The man pinched her cheek. “Then ten carriages it is. Or however many you want, just name the number, and I’ll arrange it.”
His kisses were light and tender, tracing from her temple down to her lips, then sliding to her collarbone, each touch a silent claim of possession.
Under his gentle assault, Sang Wan gradually lost her resistance.
She had to admit, she couldn’t refuse this man.
Lu Tingzhou lifted Sang Wan into his arms, settling her astride his lap, one hand wrapped around her slender waist, the other cradling the back of her head.
The quiet night was punctuated by the mountain wind, now urgent, now calm, much like the two in the car.
Tangled together until the last moment, Lu Tingzhou pressed his forehead against Sang Wan’s, reining in his impulses without crossing the line.
After a long pause, Sang Wan spoke softly, “Lu Tingzhou, I admit my intentions toward you weren’t pure at first. But if I’d known you had someone else, I wouldn’t have flirted with you. No matter what happens between us in the future, I don’t want to be the other woman.”
“You were never the other woman. You’ve always been the only one.”
His direct, husky voice stirred something in her. She cupped his face. “But… what if your family forces you into an arranged marriage someday?”
Lu Tingzhou chuckled lightly, fastening the buttons on her blouse one by one. “Don’t worry. No one in this world can force me.”
He paused, meeting her insecure gaze before adding solemnly, “No one can force me, which means no one can interfere with us. No need for titles or aristocratic rules to bind us, I’ll handle everything. You just need to be happy and be yourself.”
His words were both domineering and tender, shouldering all responsibility seamlessly while leaving her ample room to breathe and grow.
Yet faced with such earnest gentleness, Sang Wan could hardly believe what she was hearing.
Tonight, he had spoken too much, too bluntly, too passionately, her mind was still reeling.
Why did it feel like Lu Tingzhou loved her… like he couldn’t live without her?
Her fox-like eyes gleamed with clarity as she studied him thoughtfully.
“Let’s keep things separate,” she said seriously. “To prevent a capitalist from tossing me aside, we should still sign a relationship agreement. After all, I’m the vulnerable party here.”
Lu Tingzhou arched a brow, amused. “Go on.”
“One: No random check-ins. Two: No interfering with my career freedom. Three: After arguments, the man must proactively buy gifts to appease the woman. Four: If either of us falls out of love, we must notify the other in advance and part ways gracefully. Five: If the man’s actions damage the woman’s reputation or subject her to online harassment, he bears full legal and financial responsibility. Six: If the man must marry someone else, he must pay the woman 500 million as a breakup fee.”
With each clause, she counted on her fingers, lifting her chin triumphantly by the sixth, as if victory was assured.
“Little fox,” Lu Tingzhou drawled lazily, “is this an agreement or a predatory contract?””
Sang Wan pouted. “Black-hearted capitalist. It’s always good to be cautious.”
Lu Tingzhou gave a faint smile, his lips pressed together. “The agreement can be signed, but three clauses must be added: Seven, the woman must guarantee the exclusivity of the relationship, meaning no intimate relations with other members of the opposite sex; Eight, the woman must ensure she does not block the man; Nine, if the woman causes the man to feel jealous due to work-related reasons, she must take the initiative to seek comfort and console him.”
Sang Wan listened and, finding the terms not entirely unreasonable, nodded in agreement. “Deal.”
“Good. Don’t go back on your word later. I’ll have my lawyer draft the contract and stamp it. It’ll automatically renew for another year upon expiration.”
“Forget the lawyer. You have paper and a pen in your car. Let’s sign it now, no need to delay and risk complications.”
Worried he might not take it seriously, she pulled out a pen and paper, pressing them against Lu Tingzhou’s shoulder as she wrote out the dating agreement.
After signing, Lu Tingzhou proactively produced a small box of ink paste and handed it to her.
Sang Wan kissed him on the cheek. “Good boy.”
Lu Tingzhou gazed at the girl’s bright, lively face, his heart still restless. To ease his discomfort, he pinched the soft flesh at her waist. “Want to go stargazing?”
Sang Wan looked up through the sunroof at the night sky, where stars twinkled against the dark canvas, her eyes brimming with delight.
The two stepped out of the car and settled on a small mound.
Sang Wan gazed at the starry expanse, her elbows resting on her knees, her face cradled in her hands, serene and enchanting.
Lu Tingzhou had suggested stargazing, but in the end, he only had eyes for the one watching the stars.
The world was vast, and people often said a man’s heart was broad. But he didn’t feel that way.
Because his heart wasn’t broad at all.
By the time they returned to the base, it was already past midnight. Sang Wan was about to head to her room to sleep when Lu Tingzhou pulled her back. “The room is upstairs.”
Without giving her time to react, he led her upstairs.
“Lu Tingzhou, don’t be crazy. There are so many people here.”
“I’m only staying tonight. I’ll leave first thing in the morning. Can you bear to be apart from me?”
His deep, pitiful voice made Sang Wan hesitate. But staying together tonight would mean everyone would know by morning.
While she wavered, he had already pulled her upstairs. The moment they entered the room, he lifted her into his arms.
“Lu Tingzhou, put me down. I gave you a chance in the car earlier, and you didn’t take it.”
Lu Tingzhou chuckled lowly, teasing her. “There wasn’t enough space in the car.”
“Not a chance. How am I supposed to face anyone tomorrow?”
Sang Wan refused, adamant that he wouldn’t get his way.
With so many people around, if they found out she had slept with Lu Tingzhou, then…
“Go to sleep. I’m going back to my room.” She pushed him away.
Seeing how tense she was, Lu Tingzhou stopped teasing her. “Just sleep. No one will notice us tomorrow morning, Lin Hao will handle it. And as for what you’re thinking, it won’t happen. No precautions, no surprises. Unless you want a little one competing for your affection?”
