Green Tea Top Student Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 41
After school, everyone gathered in the classroom to leave their belongings on Shi Wangui’s desk for easy pickup the next day. Then, the group headed out together.
“By the way, did Jiang An’an go back?” Shi Wangui asked.
Wen Youren replied, “She should be gone. I told her not to come looking for me anymore.”
Today, Wen Youren wore a blue hooded cotton coat paired with white cargo pants. However, a pink bow had been pinned to the back of her coat. Shi Wangui had put it there; she was wearing a pink cotton coat herself, and the bow was from her own outfit.
Shi Wangui said, “That’s good. Let’s head out.”
The four of them left everything behind in the classroom. Since Shi Wangui and her group were boarding students, they could enter and leave the campus freely on weekends. The teacher had even left them a key to the classroom so they could study there.
To their surprise, Jiang An’an was waiting at the school gate. Her long hair was draped over her shoulders, and she was wearing a thin black hoodie with white pants. Standing at the gate, she looked truly “beautifully freezing.”
Shi Wangui felt an inexplicable surge of annoyance. Didn’t she leave?
With a look of displeasure, she took Wen Youren’s hand. She glanced at the other girl’s white pants and wished she had worn white today too. After all, she had picked out Wen Youren’s outfit. One blue and white, one pink and black; they were a perfect match!
Noticing Shi Wangui’s initiative, a smile tugged at the corners of Wen Youren’s mouth. She poked Shi Wangui’s palm with her finger and whispered, “So bold? Aren’t you afraid of being found out?”
She worried about Shi Wangui being criticized and didn’t want her to endure unnecessary rumors.
Shi Wangui raised their joined hands defiantly. “What is there to be afraid of? Besides, look at her. She’s like a ghost that won’t leave; she clearly hasn’t moved on.”
“Alright. I’ll ignore her.”
As soon as Jiang An’an spotted Wen Youren, she ran over joyfully. Her expression shifted when she saw Shi Wangui holding Wen Youren’s hand, and she immediately grabbed Wen Youren’s other arm. “Sister Xiao You, where are you going? Can I come with you?”
She peeked at Shi Wangui’s face, and seeing no reaction, she added, “Long time no see. I’m not sure if you remember me, but I grew up with Sister Xiao You. My name is Jiang An’an.”
Shi Wangui: “…”
This is so frustrating. I really want to hit someone.
Wen Youren pulled her arm away and leaned in to whisper in Shi Wangui’s ear, “Don’t take it to heart. There were many people I grew up with.”
Hearing this, Shi Wangui’s mood improved slightly, just a little. She understood; she had many childhood friends too.
Sun Yi felt a strange “battlefield” vibe. She felt this Jiang An’an was odd; she wasn’t friendly toward her best friend and seemed to be intentionally provoking her. She stepped forward. “Let’s go! Let’s have fun tonight, then meet back at school tomorrow to study together!”
Wang Hu added, “I agree!”
“Okay,” both Shi Wangui and Wen Youren said.
Seeing herself ignored, Jiang An’an tugged at Wen Youren’s arm again. “Sister Xiao You, you really can’t take me?”
Wen Youren: “No.”
Shi Wangui was also reaching her limit. The only reason she hadn’t lashed out was that Jiang An’an’s mother had been kind to them. Plus, they might live in the village in the future; it wouldn’t be good to cause a scene since they’d be seeing each other all the time.
But she wasn’t the type to suffer in silence. “Why are you here instead of staying at home? We already made plans. Why should we bring you?”
Jiang An’an replied, “Because my mom said she called Sister Xiao You and asked her to look after me.”
Shi Wangui countered, “Your Sister Xiao You isn’t feeling well today and can’t look after anyone. Right, Sister Xiao You?”
Wen Youren: “Right.”
Sun Yi and Wang Hu: “…”
What a strange atmosphere.
Wang Hu urged, “Let’s go, let’s go. The car is here. Let’s move.”
Jiang An’an insisted, “If you don’t take me today, I’m not leaving.”
Shi Wangui: “…”
Wen Youren said, “It seems I didn’t make myself clear yesterday. You should understand what I mean. It’s getting late; if you don’t catch a bus home now, there won’t be any left.”
Shi Wangui thought: Mighty!
The car arrived, and Sun Yi pulled them all on board. Shi Wangui was ecstatic. Beautifully done!
Wen Youren watched Shi Wangui’s expressions closely. “Her mother called me yesterday, which is why I went out, but I made things very clear to her.”
Shi Wangui: “Hmph, I guess I believe you.”
This phrase meant Shi Wangui wouldn’t be angry. Wen Youren: “Okay.”
Shi Wangui added, “By the way, I’m going to go public with our relationship in a bit.”
Wen Youren froze. Her throat felt tight again, and her grip on Shi Wangui’s hand went limp. She asked, “Aren’t you… aren’t you worried they’ll say you’re not normal?”
“You’re sick.” “You’re harming yourself and others.” “You’re despised by everyone.”
These were the things others had said to her. She was truly afraid that Shi Wangui would be scolded like that, or that Shi Wangui would end up like her, eventually breaking down.
Shi Wangui was puzzled. “Let them talk. I’m not afraid.”
Wen Youren’s expression softened slightly, though she wasn’t entirely at ease. “Okay.”
They arrived at the amusement park. As they got out of the car, they realized Jiang An’an had followed them. Her expression was poor as she tried to strike up a conversation with Wen Youren. “Sister Xiao You, that bow on your back doesn’t really match your clothes.”
Wen Youren replied, “You don’t need to worry about that. I think it matches.”
Jiang An’an: “…What did you say?”
Shi Wangui: “She said it’s none of your business.”
Jiang An’an whispered a few words in Wen Youren’s ear and then said, “Sister Xiao You, can I have a few words with you?”
Shi Wangui frowned but let go of Wen Youren. “Come back quickly.”
Wen Youren felt helpless. She had already been very clear with Jiang An’an; she didn’t like her, she only liked Shi Wangui. But Jiang An’an’s refusal to back down was draining her energy. She said softly, “Five minutes.”
Shi Wangui slowly released her hand. “Five minutes!”
Sun Yi and Wang Hu didn’t know the inside story, but they could tell from the tone of the conversation that Shi Wangui was angry, so they quickly followed her.
Sun Yi asked urgently, “I feel like something is wrong with that person.”
Shi Wangui didn’t hide it. “She likes Wen Youren.”
Wang Hu: “What!”
“What do you want to say?” Wen Youren asked.
“Do you really not like me anymore?” Jiang An’an asked.
By now, Shi Wangui’s pink figure had disappeared into the crowd.
Wen Youren said, “I thought I made it clear last night. I don’t like you. In the past, it was just a misunderstanding. You know what you did back then, so I don’t need to say more.”
Jiang An’an grabbed Wen Youren’s hand. “Sister Xiao You, it wasn’t like that. I was wrong back then. Can we go back to the way things were? You aren’t someone who moves on so quickly, right?”
Wen Youren shook her off. “I am exactly that kind of person. And as I said, the only person I like is Shi Wangui. Stop bothering me. Don’t make me treat you like an enemy in the future.”
Jiang An’an was silent for a moment, then smiled. “Fine. I won’t force you. Let’s go find them. You go play with Shi Wangui; my health still isn’t great, so I’ll head back first.”
This was so unlike Jiang An’an’s usual personality that Wen Youren didn’t believe her. “What are you planning now?”
Jiang An’an replied, “Nothing. I’m just moved by your love. Look, she hasn’t gone far.”
Wen Youren looked in the direction Jiang An’an pointed. Shi Wangui was sitting on a bench with her head down, her hair hiding her face. She was likely counting the time.
Wen Youren rushed over. She should have been clearer the first time she saw Jiang An’an and shouldn’t have agreed when the aunt called last night.
“A-Wan…” Wen Youren said, squatting down beside her.
Shi Wangui was surprised to see her back so soon. She said crossly, “Two minutes?”
Wen Youren took her hand. “Come here, I have something to tell you.”
Shi Wangui followed suspiciously. Once they were in a secluded spot, she asked, “Go ahead. Whatever it is, it better be enough for me to forgive you.”
“Jiang An’an took a photo of us kissing,” Wen Youren revealed the secret.
Shi Wangui: “…”
“And she came here to find you just to do what?”
Wen Youren explained, “She wanted to force me to be with her and break up with you. But there’s no possibility of that; I refused her. I once mistakenly thought I liked her and wrote her a love letter. Well, I’m not sure if it was for her, but I wrote her name on it. A series of bad things happened after that. It wasn’t until I saw you for the first time that the specific feeling of my heart racing let me know that I actually like you.”
Although Shi Wangui was angry, this reason seemed to explain things. No wonder Wen Youren had asked her last night if she was worried about what people said. However, it didn’t explain why she hadn’t asked for her opinion in the first place.
“If she took a photo, she took a photo. Whatever.”
Wen Youren gently hugged Shi Wangui. “I just don’t want you to face what I did. I want you to be healthy, happy, and joyful.”
Shi Wangui said, “Ignore her. If she wants to post it, let her. I don’t care. Don’t let her use this to threaten you.”
She really didn’t care. She only had two friends here worth keeping, and she hadn’t planned on staying forever anyway.
Wen Youren smiled. “Okay. If she does post it, I won’t let her off easily.”
Shi Wangui: “Where is she?”
Wen Youren: “She said she’s going back. I hope she can be a normal person and listen.”
“You two ran off without a word!” Sun Yi had been searching for a long time before she and Wang Hu finally spotted them.
“Alright, I hope so too!” Shi Wangui laughed. “Let’s go play! First, to the Ferris wheel. I have an announcement!”
Sun Yi teased, “What’s so mysterious that you can’t say it now?”
“Oh, I’ll say it on the Ferris wheel,” Shi Wangui said, pushing the two of them along until they were all inside the cabin.
Wang Hu asked, “Okay, what is it?”
Shi Wangui held Wen Youren’s hand. Seeing the other two staring at her hand, she raised their entwined fingers to catch their attention. “We’re together.”
