Green Tea Top Student Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 29
“It hurts!” Shi Wangui woke up from the pain. When she opened her eyes, the ceiling above seemed to sway, making her dizzy.
She closed her eyes and opened them again. Good this time, it stayed still.
“You’re awake.” Wen Youren had been sitting nearby reading a book. She had watched the entire process of Shi Wangui waking up but didn’t interrupt, curious to see what she would do.
“I’m so dizzy.” Shi Wangui slowly sat up. Fragments of memory came back to her she had been drinking last night, then boldly downed a whole glass in one go. And then, what happened after that?
“What did I do last night?” Shi Wangui asked.
Wen Youren touched her forehead. Was she having a blackout?
“Nothing much,” Wen Youren said, flipping through her book. At first, she hadn’t planned to say anything, but then she changed her mind. “You just grabbed me and kissed me, said you liked me, and that you wanted to be with me.”
“Impossible!” Shi Wangui exploded upon hearing this. “Absolutely impossible! Are you lying to me?”
How could she have said something like that? She had never liked anyone before. But why was her face suddenly so hot, and why was her heart racing? No, no it must be because she lacked experience. What inexperienced person wouldn’t be flustered by such teasing?
“You don’t believe me?” Wen Youren pulled down her pajama collar, revealing her fair collarbone. But that wasn’t the main point it was the scratches on her back from fingernails. “You clawed at me last night.”
Clear nail marks were visible on her back, some even breaking the skin. Her back was quite pale, making the wounds stand out. Wen Youren’s collarbone was pronounced, with a faint redness, perhaps remnants from last night’s intensity that hadn’t faded yet.
Shi Wangui: “…”
She glanced at her own nails. It had been a while since she last trimmed them, they were quite long. Could it really have been her? But why would she scratch her? She must have done something to provoke it!
“You must have tried to bully me or pick a fight, so I scratched you,” Shi Wangui deflected, shifting the blame. “And as for saying I like you or want to be with you that must have been drunken nonsense.”
Who the hell said alcohol solves all worries? If she hadn’t gotten drunk, would she even have these problems? Now she couldn’t even distinguish truth from fiction.
“I knew you wouldn’t keep your word. Get up quickly, I’ll take you all to town.” Wen Youren got out of bed and tossed Shi Wangui’s clothes from the chair onto the bed. “Hurry up. Everyone might be waiting for you.”
With that, Wen Youren left the room. Sun Yi and Wang Hu, influenced by their body clocks, had woken up early. One was studying at the table, while the other was lounging in a recliner watching dramas.
“How is Wanwan?” Sun Yi asked as soon as Wen Youren stepped out. Since she wasn’t familiar with her, she felt it would be inappropriate to enter the room directly. “Is she awake?”
“You should be asking whether Shi Wangui blacked out and if she remembers what happened last night,” Wang Hu added.
Last night, Sun Yi had specifically told Wang Hu that she didn’t want Shi Wangui to find out about what happened. Sun Yi was utterly disappointed in Xu Qingnan and feared what he might do if Shi Wangui went looking for him.
“She blacked out. Doesn’t remember a thing,” Wen Youren said softly.
“Who said I don’t remember?” Shi Wangui changed clothes quickly and had just stepped out when she heard Wen Youren say this. “I remember everything.”
“Oh really?” Wen Youren suppressed a smile. “Then what do you remember? Tell us.”
Shi Wangui: “…”
“It’s just, it’s just.” Shi Wangui was too embarrassed to say it out loud, then whispered: “I just teased you a bit.”
Wen Youren was standing right next to Shi Wangui and naturally heard what she said, but the other two didn’t catch it. So they said: “Didn’t hear you, say it again.”
“Yeah Wanwan, what did you just say?” Sun Yi was the farthest away and hadn’t heard a single word. Worried that Shi Wangui might remember what happened last night, she added fuel to the fire.
Wang Hu, caught in the middle and feeling awkward, had only heard half of it – he caught the word “teased.” His curiosity was piqued too. “Yeah, I didn’t hear clearly either.”
“Ah, forget it, forget it.” Shi Wangui shook her head, refusing to repeat herself. “Weren’t we going to town? Let’s go, let’s go. Wait for me to wash up and we’ll leave.”
Shi Wangui ran off. This kind of thing was a bit embarrassing. Wait, why had she been so indiscriminate? How could she have teased Wen Youren? It didn’t make sense. Could it be that she liked girls too?
No way!
She picked up her phone and started searching immediately:
[How can a girl tell if she likes other girls?]
First answer: Emotional reactions – would you feel jealous?
Thinking carefully, would she feel jealous. That time she saw Wen Youren sneaking out of school with a few girls, and she followed them – did that count as a jealous reaction?
Second: Behavioral reactions – would you want physical contact with her?
That night when she actively asked Wen Youren to sleep in the same bed – did that count?
Third: Would your heartbeat accelerate?
Sometimes when Wen Youren suddenly got close, her heart really did beat faster.
Fourth: Would you think she’s very good-looking?
She probably thought so from the first glance.
It would have been better not to search. After reading this, Shi Wangui couldn’t stay calm. Had she really unconsciously fallen for Wen Youren? Probably not, right? She was only fifteen – what did she know about feelings?
Better not think about it for now. Let’s have fun first.
Shi Wangui didn’t know what they were going to town for, and neither did Sun Yi or Wang Hu. But since Wen Youren said last night that the location was chosen by Shi Wangui, they didn’t ask much, assuming Shi Wangui would take them somewhere fun.
Little did they know that all the decisions were made by Wen Youren alone.
After breakfast, Wen Youren brought them to a residential area called Dongfang Community. The complex had five-story buildings with excellent greenery – basically every available space besides the roads was planted with trees.
“Where is this?” Shi Wangui asked casually.
“You don’t know?”
“You don’t know?”
Sun Yi and Wang Hu spoke almost simultaneously.
Confused Shi Wangui: “…? Why would I know?”
Sun Yi and Wang Hu again spoke nearly in unison: “Didn’t Wen Youren say this place was your choice?”
Shi Wangui was baffled. A place she chose? Something she said while drunk last night? Impossible. Coming to a residential area usually meant visiting someone, but she couldn’t possibly know anyone here.
Since they had arrived, Wen Youren didn’t plan to keep deceiving them and incidentally helped Shi Wangui out of the awkward situation. “She really doesn’t know where this place is, but she knows what we’re here to do.”
“After all, it was her who said it herself last night, insisting so strongly that I had no choice but to comply. I originally planned to take you all to the amusement park today, but I can’t ignore our classmate Shi Wang’s words. Besides, didn’t you say you remember everything?”
Wang Hu: “What did she ask for?”
Sun Yi: “Why do you need to know so clearly? Just go in you’ll find out once we’re inside.”
Shi Wang truly couldn’t recall what she had said, but to save face after her earlier claims, she pretended otherwise. “Yes, I remember everything. Let’s go in then.” She nudged Wen Youren with her elbow: “You lead the way.”
Wen Youren teased deliberately: “You really remember?”
Shi Wang put her hands on her hips: “Of course I remember.” Then, looking at Wen Youren’s face and recalling the earlier topics, she blushed again and turned her head away. “I will take responsibility.”
She wasn’t one of those playboys who fooled around and then ran off, she had a strong sense of responsibility. If it came to it, she could share half her steamed bun with Wen Youren, give her a sip of water when drinking. It was just one more mouth to feed, not like she couldn’t afford it.
Well, maybe she actually couldn’t afford it.
“Alright,” Wen Youren laughed. “I’ll remember that.”
Her little friend was quite amusing she believed whatever was said. If it weren’t for her own limitations, Wen Youren would have loved to stay with Shi Wang forever.
Wen Youren didn’t tease any further and led the group to the base of a building, then up to the second floor, where she knocked on a door.
The door opened quickly, revealing an elderly woman with quite a bit of white hair and wrinkles on her face. Yet, time had been kind to her beauty, one could still glimpse the elegance of her youth.
“Xiao You, you’re here. I saw your message yesterday. It’s fine, come on in. I’ve been idle at home anyway.”
“Okay, thank you, Teacher Wang.”
Teacher Wang!!!
A teacher???
The three behind her felt as if struck by lightning. However, Wang Hu quickly realized that Wen Youren had found them a teacher to tutor them in their studies?
Meanwhile, Sun Yi and Shi Wang simultaneously took a step back, inwardly debating whether to run, but Wen Youren and Wang Hu pulled them inside.
Wen Youren had already spoken with Teacher Wang yesterday, explaining that she would bring three classmates for tutoring every Saturday and Sunday, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, she would bring Shi Wang for extra lessons. Since it was Saturday, Teacher Wang knew there would be four people and had prepared a larger table, four sets of study materials, and even set up a large blackboard in the middle.
Teacher Wang was a recently retired teacher. She had found Wen Youren as a child and learned that the girl’s father had passed away and her mother had abandoned her. Out of pity, she often brought Wen Youren home for meals and helped her with her studies.
Shi Wang grabbed Wen Youren’s hand. “When did I say I wanted to come study?”
Wen Youren feigned ignorance. “You said it last night. That’s why Teacher Wang mentioned that I contacted her last night. As soon as you said it, I got in touch.”
“Isn’t it possible that was just drunken talk.” Shi Wang made one last attempt to resist. “Besides, tutoring like this is illegal now. We can’t cause trouble for Teacher Wang.”
Wen Youren smiled. “Don’t worry. Teacher Wang is retired, and she doesn’t charge any money. We just need to come keep her company more often.”
Teacher Wang had never married or had children in her life. Her parents lived with her brother and his wife, and she didn’t want to disturb their family life. Her parents, with their poor mobility, couldn’t even make it up to the second floor, so she had always lived alone here.
“I think we…” Shi Wangui’s words were cut short as Wen Youren pulled her down onto a stool.
Soon, all four of them were seated neatly at the table, each with a set of math materials in front of them. Teacher Wang planned to start tutoring from the first chapter of the textbook, but before that, she naturally wanted to test their current level.
So, the math materials in front of them turned out to be a math test, covering only the set theory section from their first year of high school.
Shi Wangui: “…”
Sun Yi: “…”
If only they hadn’t come to visit Shi Wangui today.
