Good Night, Brother! - Chapter 10.2
“…”
What on earth went through Jeong Yi Hyeon’s mind on a daily basis? One thing was clear—his brain cells were never bored.
“Hyung, isn’t commuting by subway tough? From now on, I’ll drive you to and from work in this. I’ve been practicing a lot, so I’m pretty good at driving now.”
“No thanks. Even my manager drives a domestic SUV—how could I show up in this?”
“What’s wrong with that?”
Jeong Yi Hyeon widened his eyes as though he genuinely didn’t understand the issue. His face screamed oblivious innocence. Truly, he was as brazen as they come.
“What’s wrong? It’ll look pretentious for a newbie employee to show up in a car like this!”
“Just say your rich husband is dropping you off.”
“Ha…”
“Come on, let’s take it for a drive to celebrate. Hm?”
“…”
With a gentle but insistent motion, Jeong Yi Hyeon wrapped an arm around Eunhyun’s waist and pressed the button on the smart key.
Though he still felt a bit annoyed, Eunhyun—who had never ridden in a foreign car before—climbed in, curiosity glinting in his eyes. The passenger seat enveloped him in a cozy embrace the moment he sat down, and the quiet, smooth ride soon had him mesmerized. The car’s luxury was undeniable, and before long, he was marveling at how “expensive cars really are worth it,” as if he had never criticized it moments earlier.
The scenic drive route Jeong Yi Hyeon had picked in the outskirts of Gyeonggi Province was equally impressive. After admiring the stunning night views, Eunhyun found himself persuaded—perhaps a bit too easily—by Jeong Yi Hyeon’s suggestion to “try out the back seat.”
It might have been a minor mistake, but ultimately, it was an undeniably enjoyable drive date.
After quite some time on the road, they arrived at a private pool villa near the coast.
Each unit was detached, ensuring privacy and providing a tranquil escape from prying eyes. The villa boasted its own pool, promising a peaceful vacation.
As Jeong Yi Hyeon scanned the room number and unlocked the door with the card key, he paused to double-check.
“Huh? Did I get the wrong place? No, this is right.”
The spacious suite was decked out in a pristine white interior, accented by cheerful pastel flowers placed throughout. The lush greenery accompanying the flowers gave the illusion of being in a garden rather than indoors. Light poured in through the glass ceiling, where long ivory curtains hung like a canopy. Between the floral arrangements, candles flickered warmly, their delicate scent permeating the air.
On a snow-white table sat a vase of flowers, a cake, and a bottle of champagne chilling in an ice bucket. The scene resembled something out of a house wedding.
Eunhyun, who had followed him in and glanced around, casually commented, “This is the right place.”
“It looks nothing like the pictures online, though.”
“…I made a special request.”
Eunhyun’s nonchalant tone belied his bright red face, as flushed as a ripe tomato.
Jeong Yi Hyeon blinked in disbelief, his eyes widening. “What…?”
“They said they could do it for an extra fee, so I thought… wouldn’t you like something like this?”
Extra fee? That sounded exactly like Eunhyun—practical to a fault. Overcome, Jeong Yi Hyeon pulled Eunhyun into a tight hug on the spot.
To prevent his hyung from escaping, Jeong Yi Hyeon held him close and peppered kisses across his lips, nose, cheeks, and ears.
Eventually, he lifted Eunhyun off the ground, spinning him in circles. Eunhyun’s pale calves peeked out beneath his shorts, drawing circles in the air as he was helplessly twirled.
“Stop, stop! You’re making me dizzy!”
Only then did Jeong Yi Hyeon stop spinning, though he didn’t set Eunhyun down. Resigned, Eunhyun looped his legs around Jeong Yi Hyeon’s waist like a child being carried. With Eunhyun still in his arms, Jeong Yi Hyeon approached the table.
The sight of the cake made Eunhyun gasp audibly.
On top of a snowy white cake was a cascade of cream flowers in delicate pink hues. The center of the cake boldly declared, “Happy Wedding.” Cold sweat broke out on Eunhyun’s back, and he felt a dizzy spell coming on.
‘I didn’t order something this blatant….’
Eager to surprise Jeong Yi Hyeon, Eunhyun had been forced to contact the hotel through his office during work hours. When informed that a flower arrangement for honeymooners included complimentary champagne and cake, Eunhyun had readily agreed.
At the time, it had seemed convenient—until he was asked about the cake design and lettering. Distracted by the need to head into a meeting, he’d told them to handle it however they saw fit. This was the result.
As Eunhyun stared at the cake, silently reflecting on his blunder, he felt Jeong Yi Hyeon’s body trembling slightly. He heard a sniffle.
Startled, Eunhyun unwrapped his arms from around Jeong Yi Hyeon’s neck and grabbed his shoulders to look at his face. His eyes were red and watery, on the verge of tears.
