When the Major General Omega Picked Up a Little Snake Alpha - Chapter 18
Luo Qi’s line of reasoning was well-founded.
Fang Xi wasn’t just a friend, he was also his most capable military doctor and assistant. Yet, for three whole years, he hadn’t given Fang Xi a single raise or subsidy. To make matters worse, he had just lectured and looked after Jiang Luo’yi right in front of Fang Xi, clearly showing his intention to promote the newcomer.
How would Fang Xi feel about that?
Given Fang Xi’s personality, even if he felt slighted, he wouldn’t bring it up voluntarily. That was likely why he had seemed so weighed down by worry. As a captain, Luo Qi felt he had been inexcusably oblivious to his subordinate’s needs.
Luo Qi fell into deep self-reflection. The little snake squirmed in his hand, attempting to grab his attention.
“What is it?” Luo Qi patted its body. “What are you trying to say now?”
The little snake rubbed its tail against his skin and burrowed its head into his palm. Its nose was a bit damp, and with the addition of its flickering little tongue, it made Luo Qi feel incredibly ticklish.
“Stop it,” Luo Qi said, using his fingers to gently straighten its head. “Stay still.”
Luo Qi went back inside, finished lunch, and then headed to the training room to work out for a while. The little snake followed him the entire time, either perched on his wrist or watching him from a table.
Specifically, when they were in the training room and Luo Qi stripped off his shirt to put on boxing gloves, the snake’s neck craned up immediately, as if afraid of missing a single detail.
Luo Qi caught this gaze and looked back at it. The snake instantly turned its head away, pretending to be busy coiling its body. It wound itself round and round until it had unknowingly turned into a spiral pile of snake.
Luo Qi saw right through these little “stealthy” movements. It’s actually quite funny, he thought to himself. A little snake trying so hard to control its instincts.
Luo Qi began a warm-up sparring session with a dummy. The little snake poked its head out from its coiled body again.
He saw skin that was white with a hint of pink, smooth muscle lines, and a lean, tight waist. Unlike when he was under layers of clothes, this angle allowed for a direct appreciation of Little Fruit’s physique.
As the movements continued, a warm, fragrant scent filled the air. Little Fruit was sweating, and even the sweat carried that fruity aroma. It was exactly the flavor he wanted to eat.
He flicked his tongue frantically toward the front, the frequency as fast as a bird flapping its wings. But his head remained obediently tucked in place.
Halfway through the training, Little Fruit walked over. His long hair was tied in a small ponytail, and beads of sweat clung to the stray strands against his temples and forehead, obscuring his left eye. He looked damp, and half of his alluring eye-tail was covered. The snake wanted to help brush it aside, but he was frustrated by his lack of hands. He couldn’t exactly jump onto the man’s head.
“What are you looking at?” Luo Qi scratched its chin. “You’re a snake, can you even understand what’s happening?”
When he spoke, he was standing right by the table. His lower abdomen was level with the tip of the snake’s mouth. He saw droplets of water trailing down the lines of his abdominal muscles, seeping into the waistband of his trousers.
The snake’s head lunged forward uncontrollably, wanting to taste that nectar.
Snap. His nose felt a flash of heat as Little Fruit pinched his upper and lower jaws with two fingers.
“Bad little snake,” Little Fruit said with a half-lidded smile, leaning down until he was right in front of the snake’s head. “Planning more mischief?”
The man’s breath puffed onto the snake’s body, so hot that even his scales felt like they were burning.
“You’re just a juvenile snake, stop thinking about inappropriate things all the time.”
The “juvenile snake” went completely stiff upon hearing this. It felt as if he had truly committed a crime and been caught red-handed.
“The same goes for tonight. Stay in your glass house like a good boy,” Luo Qi said, giving the small head two gentle shakes. “No crawling into my bed.”
Luo Qi let go of its head, tilted his back to chug a bottle of water, and wiped his sweat with a towel. By the time he had finished dressing, the little snake was still frozen there in a state of existential dread, its body tightly coiled and its head buried behind itself. It didn’t even notice when he walked away.
Luo Qi stood by the table, looking down and waiting for it to move. Seeing no reaction, he hooked its tail with his finger. At his touch, the tail retracted under its body as if it had been shocked.
Luo Qi raised an eyebrow. Was this little troublemaker… upset?
The little troublemaker wasn’t upset. It was just… being treated like a horny “child snake”—could anything be more humiliating? If he had a human face right now, it would be beet red.
He was a noble “God.” He wasn’t a child. And he wouldn’t do anything “lewd” in secret—he usually flirted quite openly, using his charm to capture hearts. Of course, that last point was still up for debate.
Naturally, as a human, Luo Qi couldn’t understand any of these thoughts. He just felt the snake was acting odd today. One moment it was acting spoiled, the next it was acting depressed. Truly temperamental.
He simply picked the snake up from the table. To maintain its balance, the snake frantically curled up and wrapped its tail around his wrist.
“As long as you’re obedient tonight, I won’t scold you anymore. I’ll even give you something tasty, like a little frog.”
Fang Xi had brought plenty of frozen goods for the snake: frogs, mice, and fish.
“If you get into trouble again, you won’t even be allowed on my hand. Understand?”
The tip of the snake’s tail slowly drew a circle. He could distinguish quite clearly between an occasional “stolen snack” and long-term “benefits.”
Luo Qi carried it to the dining room, directed the robot to handle a simple dinner, and watched a bit of television with the snake before carrying it upstairs.
“Alright, it’s bedtime.”
He placed the snake onto the small blanket in the glass house, adjusted the self-heating temperature, and locked the door.
“Goodnight, Xiao Hei.”
Xiao Hei lay alone in the dark room. In such a vast room and an empty glass house, even the little blanket couldn’t warm his body. It was so cold.
He rustled out of his nest and slithered toward a corner of the glass house, his long body vanishing into the shadows. For a few seconds, the red lights on the two beetle surveillance cameras flickered out.
The next moment, he appeared in the study.
He crawled out from the corner of the wall and climbed up the table leg to the snake box. Inside was still that ordinary snake. It looked just like him but possessed no thought or intelligence. It was merely a piece of his discarded skin.
He used his tail to pick the lock. Seeing him enter, the snake inside retreated into the corner in a slow, panicked huddle. But it was too late. He opened his fangs and bit the ordinary snake’s neck. Once its struggling ceased, he began to swallow it bit by bit, starting from the head.
Reclaiming the discarded skin would replenish his energy, accelerate the molting process, and help him shed his “juvenile” status. Only after molting would it be possible to summon his human form fragments.
The snake was similar in size to him, and it took quite a while to swallow the whole thing. His body was tiny, and after the forced meal, his entire midsection had puffed out by a full size. He felt a bit bloated.
He crawled out of the box with difficulty, slipped into the shadows by the edge of the desk, and a second later, he arrived in the main hall of the estate.
Several crystal sculptures stood there, glowing even in the lightless interior. He crawled toward the crystal shaped like a serpent. Crystals contained energy fields; the closer he got, the more he could feel a surging vitality. This wonderful, powerful energy was perfect for aiding digestion.
He exerted himself to move his belly, climbing onto the base of the serpent sculpture and wrapping himself around the tip of the giant python’s tail like a limp, thick towel.
After resting for a while, he gradually felt his body becoming more flexible. As the clock marked a half-hour, the little snake, who had been struggling to hold on to the cold sculpture, finally couldn’t take it anymore. He slipped down before the snake meat in his stomach was even fully digested.
He found the shadows in the corner, transferred once more, and arrived in the fragrance-filled bedroom.
Luo Qi was lying in bed, sleeping soundly. Without the snake’s harassment, he was having a dreamless night. He hadn’t drawn the curtains; when daylight arrived and light hit his eyes, he would wake up naturally.
Luo Qi rubbed his eyes and rolled over. Through the haze of his eyelashes, he vaguely saw a thick, black, unidentified object hanging in a straight line from the nightstand.
He sat up abruptly, retreating to the other side of the bed in an alert stance and grabbing the combat knife by his pillow.
“What is that?” He widened his eyes. “Xiao Hei?”
The “fat” little snake, which had doubled in girth, was laboriously lifting its still-slender tail to draw slow circles in the air.
“How did you get so fat?”
