When the Major General Omega Picked Up a Little Snake Alpha - Chapter 16
The “little fruit” leaned back against his pillow, tidying his messy collar. His hand rested lazily on his knee as he tilted his chin up to look at the snake.
His neck was ivory white, still bearing a few faint pink marks.
Luo Qi held out an open palm. “Come down here.”
The snake hesitated, staring at the soft, glowing palm. Then, it decided to retreat a little further.
It was an aristocratic snake, after all. Since its differentiation, it had maintained a proud level of mental control, yet it had failed repeatedly ever since meeting this human. To save face, it decided it needed a moment of silence.
It was a noble god, not some lecherous little reptile.
The snake’s head hooked upward, slithering back along the elk-shaped lamp. With a surge of effort, its head followed the curve of the elk’s body, clumsily sliding back onto the deer’s back. Finally, it left only its black, ball-like head peeking out to “spy” on Luo Qi.
“What are you doing now?”
Luo Qi had been a bit annoyed, intending to give the little thing a lecture. But seeing its cowardly display, his anger evaporated. He lay there for a while until the heat in his body dissipated, then went to the bathroom mirror to check his skin.
the red marks were faint, seemingly caused by excessive friction, but they didn’t hurt or feel strange to the touch.
After washing up and returning to the bedroom, he found Little Black still coiled on the chandelier. Its head rested on its body, and its pink tongue flickered out like a tiny dot.
“Go back to your own room.”
Luo Qi ignored it and went downstairs to make breakfast. He ground some coffee and found an egg in the fridge. Turning around, he saw a dark coil sprawled across the automatic egg cooker.
“Are you trying to fry yourself?”
He scooped up the snake by its belly. The little creature slid up his wrist, poking its head toward the crook of his elbow while tucking its tail into his palm.
“What are you trying to say?”
the snake’s belly rippled, its tail wrapping affectionately around the base of his middle finger before slowly pulling back to scratch at his palm. It felt like flirting, and those two eyes were gazing at him “soulfully.”
Luo Qi stood there with an egg in his right hand and his left hand frozen in mid-air.
“Get down. I can’t get anything done like this.”
He folded a thick, large placemat on the dining table and set Little Black on it, commanding it to stay put.
“Wait for me right here.”
Luo Qi cracked the egg, adjusted the temperature, and once it was fried, he heated some bread and milk. He brought everything to the table. The snake was still sitting obediently on the cloth, its posture unchanged, staring at him intently.
Being watched while eating by those reptilian eyes felt strangely harmonious. Luo Qi chewed his bread while scrolling through messages, glancing at the snake every now and then.
The snake was busy analyzing his diet.
Too monotonous, it thought. the little fruit’s nutrition was clearly worrying. And that fried egg? There was actually a piece of eggshell in it. This was simply intolerable.
Unable to watch any longer, it leaned forward to get a better look at the egg. However, Luo Qi misinterpreted the gesture and pushed the glass of milk toward it.
“Do you want some milk?”
The snake’s head was blocked by the glass. It paused for a moment, then began to climb up the side of the cup. It was, in fact, a bit thirsty.
It wound halfway around the rim, arched its back, and dipped its nose into the milk, its tongue lapping at the smooth white liquid. It used quite a bit of force, sending ripples through the milk.
Luo Qi watched its soft mouth open and close, its cheeks moving like squeezing rubber. What a truly adorable little thing. He picked up his phone and quietly snapped a few photos.
After finishing the milk, the “adorable little thing” rested its head on the rim of the cup, staring once again at the egg on the plate. Half of its head had turned white, covered in milk stains like a child who couldn’t drink properly.
Definitely a baby snake, Luo Qi thought. He grabbed a tissue to wipe its face. The snake flinched back in surprise but ultimately allowed him to dab the liquid away.
Its tiny brain was filled with massive confusion. Many creatures had offered it sacrifices, but this was the first time someone had ever… wiped its mouth.
“Little Black, how old are you?” the little fruit whispered softly. “How do you get milk all over your head just from drinking?”
The snake flicked its tongue in protest. After arriving in this galaxy, it had undergone differentiation and its energy was limited, forcing it to restart its growth from a seedling state. That didn’t mean it was actually a hatchling!
It opened its mouth huffily, but some milk had gotten into its nose, causing it to let out a tiny, muffled sneeze.
The human laughed. The snake raised its neck, prepared to express its indignation, but then it saw the gentle curve of his eyes and lips. Fine, it thought, I’ll let it slide just to keep the beauty happy.
The snake’s neck went limp as it resignedly coiled back onto the placemat, a few damp milk spots still lingering on its head. Its tongue darted out from the gap in its mouth occasionally, licking its own head to clean up.
Luo Qi recorded all these little movements just as a message arrived from Fang Xi.
[Fang Xi: Commander, are you awake? Why aren’t you answering?]
[Luo Qi: (Image attached)]
[Fang Xi: ?]
[Fang Xi: Why is it out?]
A few seconds later, another message popped up.
[Fang Xi: Is it on the dining table?]
Before Luo Qi could reply, another one hit the screen.
[Fang Xi: It even got into your cup??]
[Luo Qi: I gave it some milk. It’s very cute, look.]
[Luo Qi: (Video attached)]
A few minutes passed.
[Fang Xi: Commander, I’m coming over right now.]
Luo Qi asked why he was coming over, but there was no further response. Fang Xi was always high-strung, so Luo Qi was used to it.
[Luo Qi: Bring some groceries then. And buy some raw meat that a snake can eat.]
He planned to diversify Little Black’s diet, as eating only mice felt too repetitive.
“Let’s go,” he said, holding his palm flat on the table. “We’re going upstairs.”
the snake’s cool body climbed into his hand, its head wrapping around his wrist as its belly shifted into a coil. He carried the snake to the activity room and opened the children’s building blocks he had bought yesterday.
These blocks weren’t very “smart,” they lacked complex connectors, couldn’t be molded freely, and didn’t have a realistic texture. Once knocked over, they were easy to put back together, designed mainly to develop a child’s manual dexterity.
Luo Qi felt this was perfect for Little Black.
“Little Black,” he spread the instruction diagram on the floor and beckoned the snake. “Come look.”
The snake slid over at a leisurely pace.
“Can you understand this?”
the snake propped its head up, looking down at the diagram. So simple. Is this meant for human toddlers?
“You’re a smart snake,” the human said, poking its head. “Can you do it yourself?”
The snake had no hands, but it rested its tail on Luo Qi’s crossed knee, tracing a circle in response.
“Good boy. Let me see how clever you are.”
The snake moved slowly toward the scattered blocks, picking up the “tail” piece of the toy snake and dragging it toward the foam floor mat. It was moving too slowly, and the human likely misunderstood its pace. He lay prone on the foam mat, propping his chin on his elbows, calling out softly.
“Go on, Little Black, you can do it.”
The snake: “…”
It sped up, aligning the tail piece. Its long body moved in an S-shaped glide as it slid back, coiled with sudden force, snatched up a whole pile of blocks, and slid back again.
Sure enough, the human was stunned, his rosy lips forming a perfect “O” shape. The snake felt a surge of secret pride, waiting for the human to tell it how cool it was.
“Little Black, you’re so fast!”
The snake: “…”
It wasn’t particularly satisfied with that compliment. Unfortunately, it couldn’t speak, but at least the little fruit was smiling again. To keep the beauty amused, it stayed dedicated to the task, continuing to play the role of a “toddler snake.”
It noticed that if it acted a bit clumsier, the human laughed more. So, it used the tip of its tail to lift the “head” block, sliding it back and forth on the base as if it couldn’t find where it connected.
“You silly snake, that part goes on last,” Luo Qi said, picking up the diagram. “Look, you should be using block number 2 right now, that one is number 15.”
The snake pretended to understand, swimming through the pile of blocks, picking through them and flipping them over.
“Not that one,” Luo Qi guided from the side. “A little to the left. Yes, that’s it.”
After much fussing, it finally “found” a small block with the number 2 hidden on the edge.
“That’s the one,” Luo Qi clapped. “See?”
The snake coiled around block 2 and pushed it onto the base with its body.
“Good job, Little Black! You learned so fast.” Luo Qi stroked down from its neck, giving it a massage. “Are you tired?”
The snake comfortably rested its head on his ankle, savoring the warmth of the human’s fingers.
“Let’s keep going.”
Luo Qi lay on his side on the foam mat, leaning against a large bolster to watch the performance. Every time the snake finished a block, it would slither to his side and rest its body on his thigh, begging for pets.
Luo Qi stroked down its scales. After several rounds of rubbing, the snake’s body grew warm, matching his own skin temperature. It felt wonderful to the touch.
The man and the snake were completely absorbed in their childish game.
By the time Fang Xi arrived, they were still at it. He shoved the groceries into the fridge and rushed to the activity room as fast as he could. Hearing the General speaking, he stopped at the door, pushing it open just a crack to peek inside.
The General was lounging on the floor, wearing loose white silk pajamas that had slipped to reveal one rounded shoulder. Next to him was a half-finished, childish python model.
And that snake was currently coiled around the General’s thigh, its glossy black head pressed against the thin pajama pants, crawling upward from his lower abdomen in a supple line.
It looked as if it were about to crawl right under the hem of the General’s top!
Was it trying to take advantage of him?!
“Luo Qi”
Fang Xi was about to burst in, but then he saw Luo Qi catch the snake by the neck. Instead of pulling it away, he massaged it dotingly, praising it in a soft, melodic voice:
“Little Black, you are so impressive.”
Fang Xi stood there, completely dumbfounded.
