When the Major General Omega Picked Up a Little Snake Alpha - Chapter 14
Its head stiffened, and it turned back, limp and listless, as it burrowed back into his pocket. Its body coiled up loop by loop, burying both head and tail into the crevices, its belly contracting as it squirmed.
It was a strange reaction, one clearly laced with emotion.
Was it sulking? Or just shy?
Luo Qi poked it with his finger, squeezing into the snake’s coiled abdomen, hooking his finger around its body to tease it.
“You’re a snake. Why are you acting jealous over a human?”
The little snake contracted even tighter, dragging his fingertip downward. The tip of its tail poked the base of his index and middle fingers, then began tracing circles in his palm.
It felt so good that he was almost reluctant to pull his hand away.
When the forked little tongue began licking the back of his hand again, feeling like a soft little caterpillar crawling, Luo Qi used a bit of force to withdraw. The little snake, unwilling to let go, coiled tightly around the base of his fingers, dragging him back.
It would rather be pulled out of the pocket than release its hold.
While Luo Qi struggled with the snake, he subtly turned his head to scan his surroundings.
The group at the table was still sitting obediently, a fair distance away. After the “baptism” earlier, likely no one would dare approach him for a private chat.
Except for Fang Xi.
Fang Xi was the only one standing, leaning against the back of a chair, chatting idly with Jiang Luoyi while his gaze constantly drifted toward Luo Qi.
Luo Qi shifted his position, shielding the restless snake within the corner formed by the flower bed and the railing.
“What exactly are you trying to do?”
He looked down beneath the hem of his clothes, even as Xue Ying continued his speech below.
Most of the snake’s body was piled onto his hand, and it was still working hard, pressing its head against his wrist bone as it tried to crawl up into his sleeve.
Maybe it’s because of the scent, Luo Qi thought.
Because their pheromones had merged before, it treated him like its exclusive Omega.
That’s why it had shredded that confession card, and why its reaction just now was so peculiar.
Luo Qi tightened his lips, suppressing the urge to let his mouth curl upward.
Honestly…
It was both pitiful and adorable.
He didn’t have the heart to push it away.
The little snake was persistent. Seeing that Luo Qi wasn’t stopping it, it moved in a spiral motion, sliding its head into the sleeve and climbing toward his left elbow.
Luo Qi looked toward the center of the stage, using his other hand to nudge the tip of its tail, granting its wish.
The new shirt he had changed into had fairly loose cuffs that weren’t buttoned tight, and his jacket sleeves were wide as well, allowing the snake to slip right in.
A cool, soft, yet resilient belly pressed against his skin, slowly inching upward.
The sensation made his scalp tingle, and his heart rate quickened slightly.
He let out a soft, quiet breath.
“General,” Fang Xi approached after all. “Has your father arrived?”
“He’s on the other side.” Luo Qi took his phone and shoved it into an inner pocket, using the movement to hide the last bit of the snake’s tail.
Fang Xi stood by the railing, looking out. “I heard you left this morning. Did you eat lunch at the hotel?”
“Yeah.” Luo Qi turned around, leaning his back against the railing and positioning his right arm toward Fang Xi. “I didn’t finish my sandwich from this morning, so I finished it off at the hotel at noon.”
“You made it yourself?” Fang Xi suddenly switched to formal address again. “Was it good?”
“It was alright,” Luo Qi laughed. “You should have a little more faith in me. I can handle a sandwich.”
“Right,” Fang Xi said expressionlessly. “I still have a vivid memory of the last one you made.”
“It wasn’t that terrifying,” Luo Qi said, resting his left arm behind him on the railing. “Isn’t it just stacking toast with other ingredients?”
“True. But next time, you really shouldn’t do it yourself. Eating too much burnt food isn’t good for your health.”
“Today’s wasn’t burnt, Xizi.”
Luo Qi felt the little snake, which had just settled on his left arm, start moving again. It seemed to want its head facing outward, so it used its lower body to wriggle upward while diving its head back down along the inside of his elbow to crawl through again.
He clenched his left hand into a fist, biting the tip of his tongue.
It was tickling him to death.
This little brat. He shouldn’t have been so indulgent.
The little snake wasn’t moving on purpose; it didn’t know the “little fruit flesh” was ticklish. It just wanted to adjust its position.
When its head was facing up, it felt like a little bug burrowing into cherry flesh—the further it went, the narrower it got, and the better it smelled.
It had turned into a greedy little serpent, its tiny brain hijacked by physiological impulses, wanting to climb higher at all costs.
Fortunately, its mental strength was high enough for self-control. It decided to use a “physical isolation” method: if its head was facing outward, it wouldn’t keep thinking about burrowing deeper, especially since it couldn’t crawl backward.
It really was clever.
The little snake turned its head and moved downward. Though the fruit flesh had soft, warm skin, the muscles were firm, providing a great sense of security when coiled around them.
This was much better than building blocks.
It was still just a hatchling and desperately needed something to “cling” to.
“Were the afternoon pastries not good? I noticed you barely ate. If you only had a sandwich for lunch, that shouldn’t be enough.” Fang Xi continued his probing.
“I just don’t have much of an appetite,” Luo Qi replied casually.
On stage, Xue Ying finished his speech, and the venue erupted in applause again. As people began to dine, Luo Qi patted Fang Xi’s shoulder.
“Xizi, go keep them company. I need to return a call.”
“Alright.” Fang Xi gave him one last suspicious look but eventually walked away.
Watching Fang Xi’s back, Luo Qi reached his right hand into his left sleeve and poked the little snake’s nose.
Fang Xi definitely suspected something.
In truth, it wouldn’t matter if he told him.
But for some reason, he just wanted to keep this secret.
An Alpha snake hidden in his sleeve, its body stretched out, scales and skin intertwined.
Its little tongue secretly licked his wrist bone, the tip of its mouth pressing against the pad of his finger, as if kissing his fingertip.
The feeling was like… having an affair in public.
An affair?
Luo Qi was startled by the word that popped into his head.
Truly insane.
It was just a pet snake.
He stared at the tiny black corner peeking out, withdrew his finger, and rubbed the sleeve. “Just like that. Stay put and be good.”
The smooth tip of the tail twitched against his elbow.
“If you aren’t good, I’ll turn you into a snakeskin bag.”
The snake’s body visibly stiffened, its long belly wriggling tremulously.
“Alright, I’m just teasing.” Luo Qi rubbed and soothed it through the fabric.
His little snake was both mischievous and cowardly.
A fun little pet.
The little snake didn’t know it had already been labeled as a “cowardly, mischievous, and weak snake.”
The words “snakeskin bag” immediately made it think of that shameless two-legged Alpha.
And so, trembling, it released its mental strength, trying its best to—
Control its rage.
One day, it was going to swallow that two-legged Alpha whole!
Luo Qi returned to the table with the snake and toasted with the others.
The little snake hidden in his inner shirt had learned its lesson; it tucked its head deep inside, completely invisible.
He could feel the snake’s body temperature gradually warming up, approaching his own skin temperature.
When things went quiet, he could even feel the rise and fall of the snake’s body and its tiny heart thumping away.
Luo Qi didn’t speak much, focusing on his drink, but he kept a smile on his face.
Seeing the General in a good mood, the atmosphere at the table lightened considerably, and the soldiers chatted with increasing cheer.
Luo Qi set down his glass on the fifth drink.
“Xiaoyu,” he stood up and called out. “We need to head over.”
The invitation the Governor had sent them was for a private room upstairs during the second half of the banquet.
“Okay!” Xiaoyu followed him away from the table.
There was a private elevator in the banquet hall. they rode it straight to the top floor, arriving at a semi-open garden.
At a large round table, various delicacies were rotating on a lazy susan. Governor Xue’s family, along with Luo Qi’s father, were gathered by the terrace chatting.
“Xiao Qi, Xiaoyu, you’re here!”
Governor Xue was the first to notice them. He approached proactively, and Luo Qi stepped forward to hug him.
“Uncle Xue, long time no see.” He handed over the gift he was carrying.
“These are gemstones I collected from Planet Luyao, a gift for you and your family.”
“You’re far too kind!”
Luo’s father was standing in a corner, talking to Xue Ying about something. Hearing the voices, he turned around with an awkward yet dignified smile.
He seemed content to watch his old comrade and his own sons exchange warm greetings from a distance.
“I say, why are you still standing there?” the Governor shouted at him. “Your sons are here, come over.”
Only then did the elder Luo move toward them.
“Dad!” Luo Xiaoyu pouted with dissatisfaction, but still threw himself forward. “You didn’t even tell us when you got back!”
“Sorry, I’ve been incredibly busy,” he said, rubbing Xiaoyu’s head before turning to Luo Qi. “I brought gifts for you both. You’ll see them when you get back to the Luo estate tonight.”
“What gifts?” Luo Qi asked.
“You’ll know when you get back.”
“Aren’t you coming back with us, Dad?” Xiaoyu asked, dejected.
“I have to fly back to the North Star tonight. I only came down specifically for today.” When Luo’s father spoke, his eyes remained fixed on Luo Qi.
“Oh…” Xiaoyu’s pout deepened.
“Your father really is busy. But don’t worry, if you need anything in the future, just come to me. I’ll look after you for him.” As Governor Xue spoke, he patted Luo Qi’s shoulder and shot a meaningful look at Xue Ying, who was standing silently to the side.
Luo Qi smiled politely but didn’t respond.
The atmosphere was off.
From the moment he entered this area, he had sensed something wasn’t right.
While he had a good relationship with Governor Xue, they didn’t interact often, and the man had never said anything about “looking after him” before.
And as for Luo Huayun—even after a long absence, he shouldn’t be this passive during a reunion. His relationship with Luo Qi was poor, but he got along well with Xiaoyu and usually took the initiative to hug him.
But just now, he was busy chatting with Xue Ying.
What on earth was he talking to Xue Ying about?
Luo Qi searched to his right, his gaze colliding with Xue Ying’s, who immediately looked away.
Turning his tall, broad shoulders, Xue Ying shifted his posture to gaze at the distant scenery.
It was actually quite comical.
“Xue Ying, have you toasted your comrade yet?” Governor Xue asked his son.
“Not yet. I’ll go now.” Without a second word, Xue Ying set off immediately. As he passed by, he even gave Luo Qi a nod.
Except his aim was off; he nodded toward the space behind Luo Qi, as if terrified of making eye contact again.
“Xiaoyu, I brought some gifts from East-V for you and your brother,” Mrs. Xue said, taking Xiaoyu’s arm. “Why don’t you come with me to get them?”
“Huh? Me?” Xiaoyu looked at Luo Qi. “Then Brother—”
“Your father has something to discuss with him,” Mrs. Xue smiled at Luo Qi, covering her mouth. “Let’s give them some privacy?”
“Ah, what could you have to say behind my back…”
“Xiaoyu,” Luo Qi interrupted him. “Go ahead.”
He wanted to see exactly what kind of scheme this old man was cooking up.
“Oh…”
The Xue family led Xiaoyu away, leaving only two people in the garden.
Luo Huayun pulled out a chair. “Luo Qi, sit.”
His face looked weary. That burly, upright stature and the air of a high-ranking official softened slightly the moment he sat down.
Luo Qi sat opposite him, with a small tea table between them.
“In the last two years, an anomalous mine was discovered on the North Star. This is classified; I can only give you a few hints.”
Luo Qi leaned back against the wooden chair, fingers interlaced beneath the table, waiting for him to continue.
“During the mining process, anomalous energy leaked out, attracting other creatures,” Luo Huayun said, pouring tea from a teapot. “In short, if you discover an S-class monster, do not kill it lightly. It may be more powerful than we imagine.”
Luo Qi looked at the teacup on the table; the tea was still hot, steam rising from it.
“So what should I do?”
“Gather your troops to capture it, then hand it over to the capital, or notify me through military channels.”
Luo Qi nodded slowly. “Understood.”
Luo Huayun took a sip of tea and set it back on the table. His palms rested somewhat awkwardly on his thighs.
The silence grew heavy again.
“Is there anything else?” Luo Qi finally asked. “You sent Uncle Xue and Xiaoyu away just to tell me this?”
“There is indeed one more thing,” Luo Huayun said seriously. “I heard you took in a mutated snake?”
So, here it was.
Luo Qi lowered his gaze, his right hand tracing the left sleeve, silently making a mental note of Xue Ying’s name.
“Yes. What about it?”
“That snake is an Alpha?”
“Correct.”
Luo Huayun paused, searching for the right words.
He sighed deeply. “Luo Qi, have you thought about who you want to marry?”
“Haven’t you asked this before?” Luo Qi said unhurriedly. “My answer is the same as it was back then.”
Luo Huayun cleared his throat. “I won’t force you to marry. I know I’ve failed you and Xiaoyu over these years.”
Luo Qi waited for the other shoe to drop.
After a long pause, Luo Huayun continued, “However, the condition is that you find someone yourself. If you don’t…”
“I don’t want to find anyone.”
“Let’s put it this way,” Luo Huayun sighed again. “Your Uncle Xue wants our families to be joined by marriage.”
Luo Qi let out a short, sharp laugh. “I figured.”
No wonder Xue Ying had been acting so erratic lately.
“What do you think? I’ve asked Xue Ying; he likes you. You’re very familiar with the Xue family as well.”
Luo Qi let the words go in one ear and out the other. The little snake pressed against his left arm seemed provoked; it coiled tighter and tighter, its head constantly trying to poke out.
He rested his right hand on the back of his left, his fingertips pinching the restless little black mass, stroking its chin to soothe it.
Surprisingly, it worked. The snake rested its head between his two fingers.
“Luo Qi, no one is a better match for you than they are.”
“A match for me, or a match for you?”
“This is about your marriage,” Luo Huayun’s forehead creased into a deep scowl. “You are my son; naturally, I want the best for you.”
“Is that so? Do you even know what I want?”
“What do you want?”
What did he want?
Luo Qi was stumped by the counter-question.
He wanted time to go back several years, before his father was transferred to the North Star.
He wanted his father to be by his side when he presented as an Omega, rather than on the opposing side.
But none of that was possible, and it didn’t matter anymore.
“I’ve reflected a lot over the past two years,” Luo Huayun said. “Luo Qi, we are too much alike as father and son.”
Luo Qi shook his head. “No, I could never compare to you.”
“You can say whatever you want about me now. But you must find a suitable Alpha. I don’t care what type you like, I can help you choose. I don’t believe we can’t find one.”
Luo Qi’s brow furrowed. “I just took in a pet.”
“Yes, but it is a mutated snake. It belongs in a research institute, not your bedroom.” Luo Huayun’s expression turned grim. “I want you to hand the snake over.”
Luo Qi’s finger stopped scratching the snake’s chin. Sensing his stillness, the snake raised its head, its tiny golden eyes watching him.
“Luo Qi. Keeping a mutated snake privately is illegal”
“Father,” Luo Qi looked up. “You asked what I wanted?”
“I’ve decided.”
Luo Huayun stared at his face, which held nothing but a cunning smile.
This was his son, yet he was different.
“I want this snake. I want it to be my pet with legal status. You will be the one to handle the arrangements.”
“Are you commanding me?” Luo Huayun’s mouth hung open in disbelief.
His son really had changed.
“If this isn’t handled well, the whole world will know that Luo Huayun’s son is illegally keeping a mutated snake—an Alpha one at that.”
Luo Qi narrowed his eyes, propping his right elbow on the table. “They’ll also know that your son, that well-known Omega, would rather sleep with a snake than find a normal person.”
The snake’s head rested dumbly on his lap.
“You!” Luo Huayun gripped the armrests of his wooden chair.
Luo Qi shrugged indifferently. “That is what I want.”
Luo Huayun was panting with rage. Luo Qi didn’t give him a chance to argue; he stuffed the snake back into his sleeve and stood up.
“Father, think it over.” He gave Luo Huayun a sharp profile. “Try not to take two years this time.”
Luo Qi retraced his steps and entered the elevator to head down.
The snake on his arm seemed frozen, huddled in his sleeve and refusing to move.
The elevator doors opened to the back corridor of the banquet hall. A few people were passing by, and a tall figure was leaning against the wall waiting for him.
It was Xue Ying. Seeing Luo Qi arrive, he straightened his tie and strolled over.
“Cough, well…”
He summoned his courage to face that beautiful face, but he didn’t find the expression he was hoping for.
Luo Qi glanced at him sideways, his gaze like he was looking at a corpse.
It was laced with killing intent, just like on a battlefield.
Xue Ying realized something was wrong, but he was completely defenseless against what happened next.
With a muffled thud, a sharp pain blossomed in his stomach. He instinctively doubled over, throwing a punch back in reflex, but it hit nothing but air.
Luo Qi had kicked him. As his mind registered that fact, he heard a sharp crack from his cheekbone.
Luo Qi had landed an elbow strike right across his face.
Now, that arrogant, self-important face was bruised and bleeding.
Xue Ying was dazed, forgetting even to be angry.
He had never been treated like this in his life.
He had been hit by the Omega he liked?
He propped his hand against the wall, catching his breath. Luo Qi didn’t leave; instead, he stood before him, watching him with a radiant smile.
The killing intent from a moment ago had vanished without a trace.
“General Xue, you really do have a big mouth.”
Xue Ying saw a dark, soft, long shape poke out from Luo Qi’s sleeve.
It was that Alpha snake. Its vertical pupils were glaring at him, baring its fangs as it opened its mouth wide.
“Get back in.” Luo Qi closed his hand, enveloping the black head.
The snake’s mouth made a little squish sound as it obediently tucked itself away.
Xue Ying was so shocked he forgot how to speak.
