When the Major General Omega Picked Up a Little Snake Alpha - Chapter 13
The last time Luo Qi had encountered a public confession was back in his military academy days.
He had forgotten the person’s face, only remembering that he was a senior Alpha.
Since boarding the warship, plenty of people had sent him gifts and flowers during festivals, but those were always delivered privately with subtle notes, some even remaining anonymous.
In the military, Luo Qi was an almost untouchable figure.
This wasn’t just because of his S-rank mental power and his exceptional, rapid promotion, but also because of his father.
Luo Huayun was the only Chief General of the entire Empire, a five-star general with legendary military exploits and immense prestige.
How could an ordinary person possibly be a match for Luo Qi?
However, Shen Yizhou, who spent his time in the entertainment industry, didn’t have much of a grasp on that particular reality, nor did he have any reservations.
Luo Qi himself didn’t give it much thought either. He only knew that he had zero interest in this bold “fanboy.”
Just as he took out the card, he felt a stir from the little snake in his inner pocket. Looking down, he saw the snake’s head poking halfway out. Using the bouquet as cover, the snake had its jaws unhinged, baring sharp teeth.
Luo Qi pulled the flowers closer to his chest, casually using his left hand to pull at his hem and grab the snake’s head in one firm grip.
The little snake’s mouth was only halfway open when it was caught, snapping shut with a muffled squish. Its tiny tongue flicked across his palm, and then…
It retreated dejectedly back into the inner pocket.
His movements weren’t large, but since everyone in the room was looking at him, it seemed a bit abrupt.
“Did something fall?” Ding Gumo asked, looking down toward his hand.
Luo Qi opened his palm to reveal a single petal he had torn off in the moment.
“Just a petal,” he said, pulling out the card. “Help me put these over there.”
He handed the bouquet back to the attendant, who placed the flowers on the wine cabinet.
Luo Qi flipped the card over, scanned it for a few seconds, and then pressed it face down on the table.
“Why is everyone staring at me?”
The several people at the table shifted their gazes guiltily, though most couldn’t resist their gossiping hearts and continued to steal glances.
“Sir,” Jiang Luoyi finally couldn’t sit still and was the first to ask, “Who is that?”
“I don’t know him,” Luo Qi said, “some actor.”
“He’s very handsome, quite popular in a TV drama lately,” Luo Xiaoyu chimed in. “The one who plays the Omega police officer.”
“I know that show, my younger brother loves it.”
“Plays an Omega cop? Is he a Beta?”
“He’s an Alpha, but he has a very youthful look.”
“An Alpha playing an Omega? That’s rare.”
Luo Xiaoyu felt a pang of jealousy, but maintained an innocent expression on the surface: “Brother, what do you think of him?”
Luo Qi recalled the scene from two hours ago, trying to piece together Shen Yizhou’s appearance.
At the time, his entire attention had been on that snakeskin bag.
“He looks quite clean and refreshed.”
The answer was ambiguous, leaving the soldiers, who were trying to gauge the General’s thoughts, unsure of how to follow up.
“The Lieutenant General of Xiliu Planet, Wu Haotai, you all remember him, right?” The speaker was Wu Hui, a B-rank Alpha.
“Wu Haotai? That arrogant fat guy?”
“He’s not exactly fat, just a bit sturdy,” a slightly plump Beta added.
“Whether he’s fat or not isn’t the point. The point is, I heard he recently took another mistress. That makes ten now.”
“All the ones he finds are Omega starlets from the entertainment industry, very pretty,” Wu Hui chuckled. “I’d say, with General Luo’s status, these ‘fresh meat’ types are yours for the picking. Small stars, big stars, it’s all the same. The entire entertainment industry could be your backup pool.”
As soon as he said this, the table fell silent again. Even Ding Gumo, who loved smoothing things over, shook his head in silence.
Luo Qi raised his eyelids. Beneath his thick, light-colored lashes, his ice-blue eyes darted toward Wu Hui with zero emotion.
“Which unit are you from?” he asked in a low voice.
“I…” Wu Hui froze, answering honestly, “I am the captain of the First Unit of the Xue Ying warship, Wu Hui.”
Luo Qi nodded and stopped looking at him.
Wu Hui realized he might have said something wrong, but he couldn’t figure out why. He felt like he was sitting on needles.
What did that nod mean? Was he being blacklisted?
“Everyone’s going to have a drink, right?” Luo Qi beckoned to a nearby attendant. “Pour some for everyone.”
Generally, if a wine glass was placed on the turntable, the central reservoir would automatically pour the wine.
But seeing the Omega attendant standing nearby, Luo Qi simply let him do it.
The little attendant bowed to him and went around the table, filling everyone’s glasses.
The soldiers present were very quiet, as if performing some solemn ritual. They all cooperated by pushing their glasses forward, keeping their distance to avoid touching the attendant’s clothes while saying a polite thank you.
Especially when it was Wu Hui’s turn, the Alpha soldier stood up directly, offering his glass with both hands.
The little Omega had never seen such a display, and his hand became unsteady as he poured.
Seeing this, Luo Qi wanted to laugh.
He had to admit, he loved seeing Xue Ying’s subordinates look miserable.
Melodic music began to play in the hall, and a floating light screen appeared above each table.
Governor Xue, Mrs. Xue, Xue Ying, and the two younger sisters appeared on the screen.
“Thank you all for attending my birthday. Those here today are colleagues, friends, and family…”
He began his formal speech. People looked up to listen, while Luo Qi stood up by the flower stand and looked out. Their spot was quite close to the stage and elevated, providing a clear view of the entire hall.
On the curved inner walls of the hall, holographic images shifted, making the entire room appear as a 360-degree dome simulating a dynamic night sky. The banquet hall felt as if it were suspended in space.
He searched around and finally spotted a familiar figure.
Luo’s father was sitting at the table closest to the stage. He hadn’t noticed Luo Qi and was deep in conversation with the person next to him.
That table consisted of elders, friends, and relatives of Governor Xue.
They seemed to be getting along well, chatting far more than he ever did at home with Luo Qi and Xiaoyu.
Applause broke out in the hall, and Luo Qi clapped along. Amidst the noisy environment, he caught a sharp tearing sound.
Though sharp, it was very faint and close by, sounding like paper being shredded.
At the same time, the little snake in his inner pocket gave a nudge.
What was Little Black doing now?
He stepped to the side, using a large pot of Chinese roses as cover, and slipped his fingers into his inner pocket.
He felt the snake’s smooth, soft scales, cool to the touch as it wriggled against his fingertips.
And a scrap of paper. Reaching further down, there wasn’t just one piece, but several. Since when had he put paper in his pocket?
He pinched a fragment to pull it out but met resistance. His fingertips traced the edge of the paper and bumped into a soft little head.
Great, Little Black had stopped biting fingers and moved on to biting paper.
He glanced back at the table four meters away. The confession card was gone, with only a third of a fragment scattered under the chair.
How did Little Black do it? Sneaking the card into his pocket without a single person at the table noticing.
Even he hadn’t noticed.
Luo Qi recalled the clues from moments ago, but couldn’t remember when that card had vanished.
Was this another new ability?
He pinched its head with his index and middle fingers, trying to make it let go. Little Black refused, its head sliding around to avoid him, the paper in its mouth scraping against the pocket, making his suit jacket bulge rhythmically.
“Give it here,” Luo Qi whispered with the slightest breath, leaning down. “Let go.”
Little Black stopped squirming with great reluctance. The tip of its tail poked out of the pocket and drew an ‘X’ on his wrist.
“Disobedient again?”
The tip of its tail paused, then started drawing circles.
But it still didn’t let go.
Luo Qi had to let it be for now. He felt the other small fragments, took them out one by one, and held them in his hand.
Although the jacket was much thicker now, having hard paper scraps inside was still quite obvious, not to mention that the scraps were falling out along the way.
On the path he had walked from his seat, two or three small fragments had fallen. The gold-leaf border made them instantly recognizable as pieces of that confession card.
To avoid suspicion, Luo Qi had to walk back, using the sole of his shoe to kick the scraps into the corners, at least so they weren’t lying so prominently on the floor.
Fortunately, everyone’s eyes were glued to the screen, chatting occasionally, and no one looked his way.
“Sir, do you need help?”
The little Omega attendant walked up to him. Seeing him, Luo Qi said casually, “Please take care of this trash.”
He handed him the “trash” paper scraps: “Throw them outside.”
The attendant understood, tucked the scraps into his pocket, and knelt down to pick up the other pieces near the chair.
He reached out and swept away the one-third fragment of the card. His movements were swift and careful. To prevent others from seeing, the entire process took place below the line of sight.
“Sir, is there anything else you need?” After securing the scraps, he returned to Luo Qi’s side and asked in a low voice.
“No, thanks.”
Carrying a pocketful of “trash scraps,” the little attendant exited through the staff passage in the corner of the hall.
This was a confession card from the big star Shen Yizhou. It wasn’t safe to just throw it in any trash can. It would be a problem if someone with bad intentions tried to piece it back together.
He planned to find a corner to burn the paper, so he headed toward a deserted side corridor that led to the garden outside.
Once he reached an area without surveillance, he piled the scraps on the soil. Just as he was about to light them, he heard footsteps behind him.
It was Shen Yizhou, approaching with a black mask on: “Was the flower delivered?”
“Mr. Shen, why are you here?” The attendant stood up straight, nervous.
“I was waiting outside, and you didn’t see me at all,” Shen Yizhou walked over to the pile of paper. “What is this?”
“This, this is…” The attendant took two steps back. “The flowers have been delivered to Mr. Luo, and so was the card. This is what he told me to take out.”
He had no choice but to tell the truth. He was just a low-level attendant and didn’t want to lose his job.
Shen Yizhou slowly crouched down, his fingers turning over the scraps of paper.
Meanwhile, the attendant fled, disappearing into the nearby woods.
Shen Yizhou picked up the largest fragment, which still had his name on it.
A faint light flickered in his dark eyes.
As expected of his idol, even his rejection was so ruthless.
Shen Yizhou crouched on the ground for a long time, his fingers crushing the fragments even more.
He had to think about what to do next…
Before he could continue his thoughts, the pile of scraps on the ground made a strange noise.
Squinting in the dim light, he saw the paper moving.
He reached out a finger to poke it, and a tiny, earthworm-like, soft long strand suddenly darted out—it was unclear if it came from the soil or the paper—and wrapped directly around his finger.
“!!” Before he could even scream, he felt a sharp pain in his fingertip.
Shen Yizhou jumped up from the ground. More long, strand-like things that looked like baby snakes emerged from the paper pile. They had no heads, looking like a bunch of lines blooming as they exploded from the ground, then leaped into the air, lunging toward his face.
“Holy crap! What is that!”
He shook his hand violently and took off running.
Luo Qi had no idea that the discarded confession card contained such eerie things.
At this moment, he was standing back by the pot of roses, pretending to be on a call while reaching into his pocket to pinch the snake’s tail.
“Why are you biting paper? Are you teething?” he whispered to the flower pot.
The snake’s slippery tail pulled away and drew an ‘X’ on the back of his hand.
“Then why?”
The snake’s tail moved extremely slowly, still drawing an ‘X’.
On the stage, Governor Xue finished his speech, and Xue Ying took his place.
As the crowd applauded again, a possibility suddenly occurred to Luo Qi.
“Little Black?” His voice was buried in the applause, but Little Black could still hear it.
Its hearing was anything but ordinary.
The little snake pressed the paper under its body and poked its head out of the pocket.
Its “little fruit” was looking down at it, hands resting on the railing, eyes brimming with a hint of a smile.
“Little Black.”
It flicked its tiny pink tongue in response.
“You wouldn’t happen to be… jealous, would you?”
