“Hello everyone, I’m the national producer Ji Mian.” At that moment, all the lights focused on the central stage as a tall alpha slowly rose from below.

“It’s Ji Mian! It’s Ji Mian! I love her songs so much!!” Jiang Nan shook Xiao Yanjin’s shoulders excitedly, her fake eyelashes nearly falling off in the process.

Xiao Yanjin: “…” Can you act normal for once?

Ji Mian wasn’t surprising, but what did catch her off guard was how similar this person’s name was to her biological sister’s from her original world.

“Ji Mian! Ji Mian! Ji Mian!”

Instinctively, she glanced at Ji Yunuo, who was merely clapping politely with a composed expression. That wasn’t surprising either after all, Ji Mian was her sister-in-law!

Aside from Ji Mian, several other mentors also made their appearances.

First, they performed their most iconic hit songs.

Afterward, Ji Mian introduced the dance mentor, male alpha Wei Ge; the vocal mentor, female omega Lan Ziqing; and the rap mentor, male omega And.

“Everyone, please take your seats,” Ji Mian said, looking at the fired-up trainees. “This is Chase Your Dreams, Girls!, a large-scale female survival show produced by Menghua Video, sponsored by Aili Baby Formula…”

The sheer popularity of the show was evident, Ji Mian spent a solid minute listing over a dozen sponsor names.

Xiao Yanjin couldn’t help but yawn. Are you done yet?

“Soon, you’ll begin the real competition,” Ji Mian declared solemnly.

For this season, the production team had designed the initial stage battles as company-versus-company showdowns.

“I’m so nervous!” Most of the trainees were buzzing with excitement.

The first matchup pitted Orleans Entertainment against Unknown Entertainment.

One company had only two members, while the other had three.

In terms of numbers, Unknown Entertainment had the upper hand, but the initial stage would ultimately come down to skill.

Xiao Yanjin nodded in anticipation. Let’s see what these trainees are really made of.

Orleans Entertainment took the stage first, performing an extremely simplistic bunny dance.

“Little bunny, be good, open the door quick… Hello everyone, we’re Sweetheart Duo!” The two omega girls each drew a heart in the air with their hands.

Everyone: “…”

Xiao Yanjin nearly gagged. This is it? How did the production team even pick these people?!

Sweetheart? There was nothing sweet about it, just a couple of try-hards pretending to be cute.

As for Unknown Entertainment, one of their alphas had lyrics consisting solely of “kiss, kiss,” and with his cringeworthy winks, he somehow managed to make Ji Mian nauseous. She couldn’t fathom why an alpha would wink at another alpha when there were omegas right there!

Ji Mian sighed and shook her head. “I’m sorry, but your rating is F.”

The two “sweethearts” burst into tears. “Mentor, please give us another chance!”

Ji Mian smiled. “No.”

And just like that, the first round ended with three Fs.

The next two companies didn’t fare any better, none of them secured the first A.

Xiao Yanjin was starting to doubt whether these contestants had been randomly dragged in off the street.

“Will the members of WHAT Entertainment and MOMOMO Entertainment please take the stage?”

As soon as the announcement ended, the entire venue erupted.

“Do you know the ‘let go’ girls from MOMOMO Entertainment?” Jiang Nan whispered softly into Xiao Yanjin’s ear.

“What about them?”

“One of them is a rap prodigy, Shi Zhengyi. She has over a million followers on Weibo, and her rap skills are insane. A few of her tracks have gone viral on platforms.”

“And then there’s He Rou from WHAT Company, that domineering beauty in the red uniform. She trained overseas for five years her dancing is flawless.” Zeng Heshi couldn’t take her eyes off them. “I’m sure this group has two A-rank trainees!”

“The first A-rank has to be Shi Zhengyi!”

“No, it’s He Rou!”

Xiao Yanjin couldn’t help but glance at them again. Shi Zhengyi was an alpha, her demeanor was effortlessly cool, her hair short with a small ponytail, a few loose strands falling over her forehead, partially obscuring her slightly brooding gaze.

He Rou, on the other hand, had long, wavy hair striking and bold. Wait,  wasn’t she the same woman Xiao Yanjin had run into in the audition restroom?

Hold on, why was she a beta?

Did I walk into the wrong restroom again??

First up was the performance from the “let go” girls.

Their style was cohesive, and they chose a track from a famous rap artist.

“If life is but a fleeting dream, then I’ll make this journey unforgettable!” One trainee began with a slow, a cappella segment before the beat dropped hard.

Shi Zhengyi and the others moved seamlessly into formation, launching into their rap verse.

“If it’s you, then so what? No one can take what’s mine,

Even if the world spits venom, I’ll still rise and shine!”

As the center, Shi Zhengyi had more lines than the others, but her delivery was powerful, every word crisp, she owned the stage at her most explosive moment.

The music swelled and dipped, and even the trainees in the audience couldn’t help but cheer. There was no denying it, Shi Zhengyi’s stage presence was magnetic, compelling the crowd to clap and chant along.

Rap mentor And clapped enthusiastically. It was rare to find a standout so early, but she was clearly a gem.

“That was insane!!” Jiang Nan and Zeng Heshi, along with dozens of others, were so hyped they couldn’t stop tapping their fingers to the rhythm.

Xiao Yanjin, however, found it unbearably loud!

The music cut off abruptly, and the “let go” group struck their final pose, sweat glistening on their faces, chests heaving from exertion.

Xiao Yanjin pondered for a moment. No wonder, during her audition, she’d noticed how the previous performers would pant after their routines though none had been as explosive as this group. Some had only flushed slightly from shyness. So, the heavy breathing was to prove they weren’t slacking off.

Guess I’ll have to pant a little after my performance too.

“Very impressive.” Finally seeing a group with real skill, Ji Mian was pleased. And praised them a few more times before moving on to He Rou’s group.

He Rou lived up to her name, gentle and soft-spoken, her every glance and smile radiating warmth, like a kind older sister. But when she danced, she transformed her slender waist swaying like a serpent, her gaze smoldering, enchanting enough to ensnare hearts effortlessly.

Standing by, Shi Zhengyi watched with wide eyes, swallowing hard involuntarily. She suddenly shook her head no, she couldn’t ruin her aloof, cool-girl persona.

All five of them wore tight red uniform skirts, dancing with effortless energy and singing without missing a breath, a testament to their skill.

The contestants in the audience were just as enthusiastic, their cheers no less fervent than those for Shi Zhengyi’s group earlier.

When it came time for grading, the contestants clamored for them to battle first.

“Battle!!”

Soon, the chants riled up the strongest contestants from both companies.

Just as the excitement peaked, Xiao Yanjin lost all interest and slipped away to the restroom.

Before entering, she carefully checked the restroom sign to confirm it was correct, then walked in with relief.

While in the stall, two people suddenly entered.

“I have a relative working on the show,” one alpha said worriedly. “They just told me our company is going head-to-head with Ji Yunuo’s. Our company isn’t well-known, and now we’re up against a big-name like her, she’ll steal all the spotlight! How are we supposed to stand out and gain fans?”

Another alpha scoffed. “Ji Yunuo? She’s just an Omega who got famous because of her sister-in-law and family connections. Aside from her pretty face, how strong can she really be?”

“But her debut stage had the highest engagement. Even if her skills are lacking, she’ll still attract more fans than us.”

“I’ve said it before, Omegas never amount to much. In all the past seasons, has any Omega ever outshone an alpha in popularity? Before we go on stage, we’ll all be waiting backstage. Ji Yunuo’s group hasn’t changed into their performance outfits yet. I’ll have Xiaoyan lock her in the Omega dressing room. Let’s see how she gets out then! “Hey, is anyone in here?”

“They’re all outside watching the battle now. Even if they’re desperate, they’ll wait until it’s over.” After muttering for a while, the two finally left.
