Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist - Chapter 21
Just before Xia You opened the door, Bai Shuixi was absentmindedly counting down in her head: 3 more seconds. If Xia You didn’t open the door by then, she would have to let herself in.
Li Wei and Zhou Wanwan dared to pull such a stunt, they’d better be prepared to face the consequences.
The next moment, the security door swung open, and Xia You saw Bai Shuixi standing there, dressed rather lightly.
It was already late autumn, and G City, being a northern town, turned cold quickly. Even the hallway was chilly, yet Bai Shuixi wore nothing but a thin black slip dress.
The dress appeared loose at first glance but clung subtly to her figure. Her slender legs were boldly exposed to the air, and half of her delicate collarbone disappeared beneath a light-colored trench coat effortlessly alluring.
Xia You froze for a second. “Why are you?”
Why did you come dressed like this?
Bai Shuixi didn’t answer, instead taking a moment to study Xia You.
Xia You also seemed a little flustered, clad only in a white nightgown. Her light brown hair cascaded naturally over her shoulders, a few strands tucked behind her ears. The way she stared at Bai Shuixi only accentuated her gentle beauty.
At least she wouldn’t have to barge into someone else’s home now.
That would’ve tanked her favorability, and she had no intention of becoming the second Li Wei.
Bai Shuixi gazed at Xia You for a while before relaxing into a faint smile.
“Mind if I come in?”
Her smile was rather charming.
With her striking bone structure and flawless features, Bai Shuixi was effortlessly stunning even without makeup. She still carried that air of aloof arrogance, but there was an inexplicable warmth in her expression, one reserved solely for a certain someone.
Xia You hesitated at the doorway but eventually stepped aside. “Come in.”
She had been soaking in the bath when Bai Shuixi suddenly messaged her, asking her to open the door for something urgent. She’d rushed to get ready and hurry over.
She’d assumed Bai Shuixi was up to some new antics, but this seemed surprisingly normal.
“Here are the slippers,” Xia You said, knowing Bai Shuixi had a bit of a cleanliness quirk. She pulled out a pair of fluffy pink slippers from the shoe cabinet by the entryway. “They’re new. No one’s worn them before.”
Bai Shuixi glanced down at Xia You, thinking how adorable she looked in her homey state. “Thanks.”
As Xia You straightened up after setting the slippers down, Bai Shuixi smoothly averted her gaze, eyeing the pink footwear. After a brief pause, she slipped them on without a word.
Xia You: “…”
Could it be that she dislikes fluffy things?
Bai Shuixi said nothing, walking past Xia You with an indifferent expression. The cool air from outside carried a faint trace of shower gel, brushing past Xia You’s nose.
Xia You blinked, her sharp eyes catching sight of a damp strand of hair clinging to Bai Shuixi’s shoulder.
Had Bai Shuixi just showered too?
She came over before even drying her hair completely. What was she planning?
Before Xia You could figure out how to phrase her question, her wandering gaze suddenly landed on the card in Bai Shuixi’s hand. “Wait, is that my spare key?”
“Ah.” Bai Shuixi paused mid-step, glancing down at the keycard in her hand before casually slipping it into her pocket right in front of Xia You. “Don’t worry about the details.”
“What?” Xia You found this absurd. “How can I not worry about that?”
It’s definitely not normal for an alpha boss to have the key card to her omega assistant’s apartment. Xia You took a few steps forward, trying to catch up to Bai Shuixi to retrieve the spare key card, when Bai Shuixi suddenly stopped in her tracks.
Caught off guard, Xia You nearly collided with her.
Before Xia You could react and voice her protest, Bai Shuixi, who had inexplicably halted, abruptly turned around and pulled Xia You into a tight embrace without warning.
Xia You: “……!!!”
Having just showered, Xia You was also wearing a thin nightgown like Bai Shuixi.
Now, pressed so closely together, they could practically feel every contour of each other’s bodies. Xia You found herself involuntarily holding Bai Shuixi’s slender, easy-to-embrace waist, acutely aware of something pressing firmly against her. Her face flushed instinctively as she pushed back, stammering, “What are you doing?”
“Don’t move,” Bai Shuixi’s voice was slightly hoarse as she leaned in closer, resting her head against Xia You as if genuinely vulnerable. “Just let me hold you for a bit.”
Xia You had initially resolved to push Bai Shuixi away no matter what, but hearing the pitiful tone and feeling the tangible chill emanating from the young alpha, she suddenly found it hard to be harsh.
Her hands, which had been ready to shove Bai Shuixi away, now lingered uncertainly on Bai Shuixi’s shoulders.
“Something happened!”
Bai Shuixi murmured softly against Xia You’s waist, nuzzling her face into the crook of Xia You’s neck with clear attachment.
Before entering, she had only intended to put on a show of weakness to gain some closeness, but now she genuinely found herself enjoying it.
Holding Xia You was undeniably comfortable warm, soft, and utterly captivating. A faint scent of grapefruit candy wafted from her hair, fresh and intoxicating.
Bai Shuixi breathed it in, unconsciously wanting to draw even closer, but the omega in her arms suddenly spoke up, her voice trembling slightly: “Bai Shuixi, you’re not going to bite me, are you? You know this would count as forced marking.”
The hands on Bai Shuixi’s shoulders tensed with renewed force.
Feeling the pressure, Bai Shuixi chuckled softly, her eyes still closed. Ah, if I were truly the villain here, this would be the perfect moment for a forced scene.
But after that fleeting thought, she obediently loosened her grip and stepped back.
“What exactly are you here for?” Xia You retreated slightly, her expression flustered and guarded. “Don’t tell me the ‘something’ you mentioned was just this.”
“Don’t misunderstand. I really do have something to discuss with you,” Bai Shuixi smiled, her demeanor calm again as she began to subtly guide Xia You toward the direction she had planned.
Xia You pressed her lips together, putting more distance between them, but still extended basic hospitality by asking perfunctorily, “Would you like something to drink?”
“Something warm. I’m feeling a bit cold,” Bai Shuixi replied casually.
Xia You’s gaze flickered over Bai Shuixi’s bare legs, hesitating before ultimately saying nothing. She simply went to the kitchen and poured a glass of lemon water. “It’s a new cup, already washed. The lemon is freshly cut and cleaned.”
Bai Shuixi accepted the warm glass. “Thank you.”
“So, what was it you wanted to talk about?” Xia You sat down across from her.
“Here.” Bai Shuixi handed her phone to Xia You without hesitation, the screen still displaying the trending topic about their CP pairing.
Xia You took the phone skeptically and began scrolling, growing more and more astonished as she read. After a moment, she couldn’t help but look up at Bai Shuixi. “It was you!”
“I knew you’d think it was me.”
Bai Shuixi’s voice was eerily calm. She let out a soft, derisive laugh and met Xia You’s gaze without flinching. “If it were me, why would I even be here right now? At the very least, I’d wait until tomorrow morning when this has blown up to its peak before casually dropping it on you. Then I’d act all helpless and say, ‘The spread is too wide, there’s nothing I can do,’ and finally force you to acknowledge our ‘scandal’ whether you liked it or not. That’s more my style.”
Xia You paused, glancing at the black dress Bai Shuixi was wearing, and swallowed her words.
Bai Shuixi hadn’t even dried her hair properly, she’d just thrown on some clothes and rushed over.
Xia You pressed her lips together, her gaze drifting over Bai Shuixi’s long legs before settling on the glass cup held in her hand.
She had just doubted Bai Shuixi yet Bai Shuixi, who had a key to her apartment, hadn’t barged in unannounced.
And despite the cold outside, she had waited.
Xia You thought back to her past interactions with Bai Shuixi. Aside from that first day at Bai Shuixi’s place, every time they met, Bai Shuixi had been impeccably put together, polished down to the last strand of hair.
It wasn’t hard to tell that Bai Shuixi was someone who paid meticulous attention to detail, borderline obsessive.
For someone like that to leave in such a hurry…
Xia You sighed inwardly. After a moment of silence, she asked, “Are you saying Li Wei did this?”
Bai Shuixi had always disliked Li Wei. Besides, the only people in Xia You’s life connected to the entertainment industry were Li Wei and Bai Shuixi. If it wasn’t one of them, who else would even notice her?
“I didn’t say that,” Bai Shuixi replied unexpectedly. “I can’t be bothered to point fingers. You’re working at my company now, aren’t you? If you want to know something, go investigate it yourself.”
Xia You blinked, surprised. “You, you’d let me look into it?”
Used to being shut out and repeatedly rejected by the person she cared about, Xia You glanced down at the phone in her hand, then back at Bai Shuixi. “I can go to Tianyin? I can talk to the employees there?”
“Mm.” Bai Shuixi gave her a puzzled look. “I just don’t work regular hours, but I still drop by occasionally. You’re my assistant, why wouldn’t you be able to interact with colleagues?”
Xia You, who had always relied on roundabout hints to glean even a few words from Li Wei, was momentarily stunned.
Even with their complicated relationship, Bai Shuixi could be this transparent with her, while Li Wei couldn’t.
So… had the abnormality always been the way she and Li Wei interacted?
The realization struck her, but strangely, she didn’t feel as upset as she expected.
Her feelings, Li Wei’s attitude, it was as if they had shifted imperceptibly at some point.
She couldn’t pinpoint when exactly. Maybe it was the first time she saw Li Wei walk into the same house as Zhou Wanwan, or maybe it was after this latest argument. But the idealized image she once had of Li Wei seemed to have shattered all at once.
It seemed like she had never truly known Li Wei.
Even if Li Wei had really done this, she wouldn’t be all that surprised.
“Do you think I’m better than Li Wei now?” Bai Shuixi studied Xia You’s expression with an amused smile.
Xia You stiffened, torn between agreement and unwillingness. She huffed in frustration, “Neither of you is any good, it’s just that one is slightly less terrible than the other.”
This time, it was Bai Shuixi’s turn to be surprised. Her usually indifferent eyes flickered with interest as she regarded Xia You. “So you actually noticed that, huh?”
“…”
The remark sounded almost like a jab at Xia You’s intelligence. She instinctively wanted to retort, but Bai Shuixi suddenly stood and moved closer.
Xia You: “…?”
Xia You: “What are you doing?”
Bai Shuixi smirked, pressing one knee against the edge of the sofa as she leaned in.
For Bai Shuixi, as long as Xia You had this awareness, things were simple.
“I’m indeed not a good person. The only reason I’m leaving the judgment to you is because I like you. Sooner or later, I’ll mark you, jiejie. By then, crying won’t help. As for now want a kiss?”
After all, the mood was already set.
Even if it was just the casual agreement they’d made before, Xia You had technically broken it first by admitting Li Wei wasn’t a good person.
Bai Shuixi slowly closed the distance, expecting to be pushed away. But Xia You seemed lost in thought, frozen in place.
When their warm lips met, even Bai Shuixi was momentarily stunned.
And Xia You’s lips were so soft, warmer and slightly damp compared to her own. Bai Shuixi’s eyes lit up like a child discovering something new, savoring the sensation before instinctively giving a playful nip.
Delicious.
The slight sting finally snapped Xia You out of her daze. She shoved Bai Shuixi away, wiping her mouth in near-teary frustration. “What was that for?!”
Mission accomplished, stirring discord to expose Li Wei, which would inevitably drag Zhou Wanwan into the mess, while also teasing the heroine and stealing a little advantage.
Bai Shuixi was in high spirits, unbothered even after being pushed away. But just as she was about to tease Xia You further, a sharp pain exploded in her chest.
It was unlike anything she’d ever felt like a tiny bomb detonating inside her.
Her vision blurred rapidly. One second, she saw Xia You’s panicked face; the next, the wooden coffee table.
Her mind fogged over, throbbing with pain.
This sensation, at least, was familiar, she was about to faint, and from an illness-induced collapse at that.
Before darkness swallowed her completely, Bai Shuixi recalled the system’s warning: shared-sense punishment.
Seriously, of all times.
Fainting right after a kiss, Xia You must be terrified.
