Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist - Chapter 20
Xia You froze for a moment, then inexplicably parted her lips. The slightly cool segment of mandarin orange was promptly pushed into her mouth, followed by Bai Shuixi’s fingertip.
The juice burst in her mouth sweet.
Bai Shuixi’s elegant, coldly beautiful face was right before her. This young female Alpha usually wore an unsmiling expression, aloof and indifferent, and even now, she didn’t seem particularly warm.
Xia You felt as if she, too, had spaced out, staring blankly as Bai Shuixi lowered her gaze, watching her with a detached yet stubborn look, her eyes sweeping emptily over Bai Shuixi’s thick lashes and high nose bridge.
Should she say Bai Shuixi was just naturally flawless? Even at this close distance, there wasn’t a single imperfection to be found.
If she hadn’t known Bai Shuixi’s personality so well, how utterly wicked this seemingly composed young Alpha could be, Xia You might have actually been fooled by her current demeanor.
Xia You seemed to have zoned out for a long time, only snapping back to reality when her tongue accidentally brushed against the cool fingertip. In an instant, she realized just how strange their position was, and her entire body flushed with heat.
“Mmph!”
Xia You pushed Bai Shuixi’s hand away, flustered as she retreated slightly, turning her back to cover her face. Her ears and neck were completely red.
Bai Shuixi blinked, glancing at Xia You before looking down at her own fingertip, puzzled by the fleeting urge she’d had to continue.
Was it because of this body, one capable of feeling emotions?
She wanted to pin Xia You down, kiss her scent gland, press so close there wasn’t even a sliver of space between them.
Hmm, and feed her more mandarin oranges.
After all, whether the fruit was sweet or not was unclear, but Xia You probably tasted sweet.
A few indecent images flashed through Bai Shuixi’s mind, though they weren’t dredged up from the depths of her memory, not the time in Xia You’s office. This time, the protagonist was still Xia You, but the setting was right here, in this VIP lounge.
This was the first time she could recall feeling such a strong impulse toward any Omega.
Tsk… Had she somehow caught something irrational from the original owner of this body?
This probably wasn’t conducive to the mission, either.
“Did I scare you, jiejie? I was just teasing!” Bai Shuixi reined in her useless emotions, smiling self-deprecatingly as she prepared to steer the situation back to how it was before things spiraled.
But she only got halfway through her sentence before pausing, taken aback by Xia You’s expression. “Dr. Xia?”
Xia You turned to glare at her, eyes slightly red, her gaze full of reproach like a soft little rabbit on the verge of crying from frustration.
Bai Shuixi tilted her head, studying Xia You’s flushed ears and neck, sensing the false bravado laced with underlying guilt in her demeanor. A subtle understanding dawned on her.
“…Do you want to keep going?”
After watching Xia You for a moment, Bai Shuixi spoke seriously, “No need to be embarrassed. I wouldn’t mind.”
Even if she couldn’t quite distinguish whether her desire for Xia You came from herself or the original owner, maybe doing it would help clarify things.
Xia You pressed a hand to her restless scent gland. “I don’t want to!”
A beat later, Bai Shuixi caught a whiff of something that didn’t belong to the VIP lounge’s air freshener something sweet, like grapefruit candy, clashing starkly with the original crisp scent of sea salt.
Bai Shuixi paused, her scent gland at the nape of her neck detecting an inviting undertone in the faint traces of Omega pheromones. After a moment of silence, she asked, “Really?”
“You, I really didn’t!” Xia You felt utterly humiliated yet couldn’t find the words to defend herself, her full chest rising and falling rapidly.
“Alright, alright, you don’t want to. Don’t be angry. I know an Omega’s glands can often be influenced by an Alpha, it’s not something you willingly control,” Bai Shuixi stood up. “I’ll take a walk. You should be alone for a while.”
Sensing the atmosphere teetering toward an irreversible direction, Bai Shuixi promptly stood to cut off that possibility.
Truth be told, she wasn’t keen on staying with an Omega whose pheromones were unstable either.
Her mind had already been conjuring up overly suggestive images from time to time. What if she truly lost control and marked Xia You?
Not that she was opposed to doing something with Xia You within controllable limits, it could even be considered playful. But if things spiraled out of control, the situation would likely turn unpleasant.
Now, things had clearly taken a turn for the worse. Xia You’s emotions toward Li Wei seemed odd.
Normally, even a subtle hint that Li Wei might not be a good person would provoke an angry rebuttal from her. Yet just now, when Bai Shuixi openly linked Zhou Wanwan with Li Wei, Xia You had barely reacted.
Had something different from the original plot happened while Bai Shuixi was away?
Bai Shuixi pressed her fingers to her temples, feeling a headache coming on.
She had deliberately stayed away to let the female leads meet, hoping they’d confide their longing like star-crossed lovers. But what had Li Wei been doing? How had she managed to lower Xia You’s trust after just one meeting?
This was truly exasperating.
Neither the female leads nor the supporting characters were the least bit reliable.
At this point, the only thing Bai Shuixi could control was her own attitude toward Xia You. Whether the plot would proceed as intended now rested entirely on her shoulders.
Bai Shuixi felt weary.
If she treated Xia You harshly enough, wouldn’t Li Wei, the childhood friend and foil appear slightly more outstanding by comparison?
But was she really going to force Xia You to choose between two terrible options, picking the lesser of two evils?
Bai Shuixi’s gaze darkened as she looked toward the VIP lounge, wondering what kind of unlucky soul would be fated to such a choice.
Had it been half a month ago, Bai Shuixi wouldn’t have given this a second thought.
The original Xia You had suffered far worse, Bai Shuixi was already showing mercy. These were simply the roles’ predetermined fates. She was merely an accidental outsider, quietly nudging destiny along without needing to interfere.
But…
Bai Shuixi lowered her eyes, rubbing the fingertips that had just touched Xia You’s lips. After half a month, she seemed to have developed something faintly resembling personal bias.
Although the rehearsals for the show We Meet at the Summit had been troublesome, the actual filming didn’t take long. Beyond shots of teams chatting during lineup reveals and battle sequences, some commentary footage and pre- and post-match interviews were enough for the production team to edit two episodes.
By the time Bai Shuixi and Xia You left the venue, night had fallen, and a light drizzle had begun to patter down.
He Jiu stood quietly to the side, holding a large black umbrella, her gaze subtly shifting between Bai Shui Xi and Xia You. She sensed an odd tension between the two.
Without hesitation, He Jiu’s first thought was: Did the boss go too far with her jokes and piss off Miss Xia?
Unaware of this still undecided on how to treat Xia You, Bai Shui Xi glanced at the rain before turning back to Xia You and asking, “Shall we go?”
Xia You nodded and moved closer to Bai Shui Xi, opening her own umbrella.
Left holding her own umbrella, He Jiu: “…”
Hmm, Maybe it’s not as weird as I thought.
Bai Shui Xi and Xia You got into the back of the Maybach one after the other, neither speaking first.
After leaving the VIP lounge earlier, Bai Shui Xi hadn’t returned, staying outside until the shoot was over. She had no idea if Xia You had used any suppressants, and the phrase “Tell me what you want to hear, and I’ll tell you” had naturally been ignored by both of them.
Truthfully, Bai Shui Xi had information she could share with Xia You, but until she decided how to handle their relationship, she couldn’t determine which parts to reveal.
After parting ways with Xia You at the elevator, Bai Shui Xi went straight home, stripping off her clothes and stepping into the shower.
Steam filled the bathroom, the scent of shower gel spreading through the air unintentionally reminding Bai Shui Xi of Xia You’s pheromones.
It actually smells quite nice.
She assessed the thought calmly.
Standing under the water until her whole body warmed up, Bai Shui Xi exhaled softly, turned off the shower, changed into pajamas, and stepped out.
With today’s tasks completed, she was just about to consider her next steps when her phone buzzed with a message from He Jiu.
He Jiu: [Boss, there’s a small issue.]
He Jiu: [Someone posted photos of you and Assistant Xia on Weibo. The related hashtag is currently topping the pre-release buzz for We’ll Meet at the Top, with over a million views already.]
Bai Shui Xi paused mid-sip of water and replied tersely: [What are they saying?]
He Jiu: [That you and Assistant Xia are a couple.]
Bai Shui Xi froze for two seconds: “…”
Clicking the link He Jiu sent, she immediately saw the photos of herself and Xia You.
The first one showed her standing close to Xia You, an arm draped over her shoulders as they faced a crowd of fans, her expression cold and indifferent. The shots were taken from a close distance clearly by fans.
Further down were candid shots of their backs as Xia You pushed her away, strands of Bai Shui Xi’s hair brushing against Xia You’s wrist, the image inexplicably intimate.
Scrolling further, she even found moments where she had deliberately provoked the fans while escorting Xia You back to the VIP lounge.
The comments under the hashtag were surprisingly harmonious, filled with remarks like “Perfect match,” “So shippable,” “Who else gets it? She looks so fierce but obeys the little omega with one push,” and “Not just that, did you see how she flaunts her ‘wife’?”
But Bai Shui Xi only stared at the screen and let out a cold laugh:
“If I remember correctly, this CP topic between me and Xia You was supposed to be stirred up by me, the ‘villain,’ to provoke Xia You and Li Wei. So what’s going on now, System?”
The system, which had been online the whole time but didn’t dare make a sound, let out an awkward laugh: [“Oh, uh, you caught me, huh?”]
“I never signaled anyone to stir up such a topic, and Xu Chuan wouldn’t be idle enough to meddle in such a trivial matter,” Bai Shuixi said coldly, her tone dripping with disdain. “What, trying to steal the villain’s role at a time like this?”
The system stayed silent, thinking to itself that it really wasn’t so certain.
Just then, a new message from He Jiu came through: [“Boss, I checked with our PR team. Rixin Entertainment is behind this, mainly Li Wei pushing it.”]
Bai Shuixi stared at the words for a long moment, her lips curling into a faint, mocking smile. “Li Wei, the female lead, suddenly doing what I, the villain, should be doing. System, any ideas?”
The system: [“…Well, it’s probably the butterfly effect.”]
Bai Shuixi thought about the sudden deviation in the plot and couldn’t help but recall Xia You.
Choosing the lesser of two evils, Bai Shuixi mused.
With the female lead acting like this, Bai Shuixi suddenly felt no more hesitation. She got up, retrieved the spare key she had kept when renting Xia You’s apartment, freshened up a little, threw on her trench coat, and headed out.
The silently observing system was stunned: [“Host, where are you going?”]
“Pillaging the enemy’s base,” Bai Shuixi replied smoothly, her voice carrying an unshakable confidence. “People may say I can’t be a good person, but I’ve never lost when it comes to being the villain.”
Bai Shuixi: Done hesitating. Time to wreak havoc.
Li Wei stirred up the CP rumors mainly to muddy the waters and protect Zhou Wanwan, while also securing the moral high ground to avoid being questioned by Xia You next time they met.
