Forced to Romance the Omega Psychiatrist - Chapter 14
“W-why?” Hearing this request, Xia You froze in place. Why would she need to admit that Bai Shuixi was her girlfriend?
Could it be?
“Are you trying to make me acknowledge you as my girlfriend in front of Li Wei?”
Xia You voiced her question aloud.
It didn’t seem like a good thing to ask it felt a little too presumptuous. But Bai Shuixi’s request didn’t actually benefit her in any way.
There was no advantage, nor any real disadvantage just something trivial, really. Except for the fact that it would genuinely put Xia You in an awkward position.
Had Bai Shuixi always been unhappy about her feelings for Li Wei?
“Maybe,” Bai Shuixi chuckled softly, amusement glinting in her eyes. She didn’t deny it, answering with an open attitude. “After all, I occasionally need to fend off certain people. Of course, you can refuse but it seems like you don’t have much time left to think about it.”
Xia You startled, glancing toward the stairwell before hesitating. In her panic, she blurted out without thinking, “C-can we not do it in front of Li Wei? I’ll just pretend for you.”
Bai Shuixi lowered her gaze, the faint smile in her eyes lingering. “Sure.”
Did Xia You really think Li Wei wouldn’t find out just because they weren’t openly affectionate in front of her?
Even if Li Wei didn’t know, Bai Shuixi would make sure she did.
“I… I’m sorry for troubling you this time.” Xia You sounded apologetic, as if she owed Bai Shuixi a favor.
“It’s fine,” Bai Shuixi replied carelessly. This was all part of her trap, she would never be the one to lose. “Just remember to pay me back. Follow me.”
Under Bai Shuixi’s direction, the manager led them around two exhibition areas, deliberately passing Zhou Wanwan and Li Wei as they ascended the stairs. They took another staircase down from the third floor and walked straight through the main hall, exiting the HV store openly.
The items they had just purchased would be delivered to their home. Bai Shuixi and Xia You got into the Maybach one after the other. The car was silent for a while before Xia You hesitantly broke the quiet with a question: “You mentioned a project earlier. What was that about?”
“Is that all you want to talk to me about?” Bai Shuixi glanced at Xia You, her sharp, captivating eyes glinting with something unreadable.
Xia You didn’t want to meet the young alpha’s gaze. Her eyes drifted from Bai Shuixi’s profile down to her slender neck and elegant collarbones before she quickly looked away.
Bai Shuixi pressed a button, raising the partition between the front and back seats. “I thought you’d ask about your childhood friend first.”
Her tone carried a hint of mockery, and Xia You didn’t feel like responding.
“Seriously, is it really just her and not me?”
This time, without any prompting from the system, Bai Shuixi leaned in, tilting Xia You’s chin up with her fingers. “I’m younger, prettier, and richer than Li Wei. Wouldn’t it be better for you to like me instead? I could give you so much more.”
As she spoke, her gaze dropped, lingering on Xia You’s lips.
Was this enough to make her seem like a proper villain?
“Why don’t you give me a try?” Bai Shuixi studied Xia You’s delicate features and flushed lips, the flirtatious words she had once been reluctant to say now slipping out effortlessly.
Xia You’s breathing became slightly erratic from the provocation, her full chest rising and falling as she parted her lips slightly to say, “..We had a bet between us.”
Bo Shuixi’s expression faltered for a brief moment.
It had been a spur-of-the-moment idea, she thought teasing Xia You wouldn’t cross any lines but Xia You’s reminder brought back her own words: “If you can stay firm, unafraid and unwavering, never changing your feelings for Li Wei, then I’ll stop bothering you.” She had indeed made that promise.
Remembering this, Bo Shuixi leaned back into her seat with a hint of weariness.
Fine. After all, as the female lead, it was only natural for her to be devoted to the other female lead.
Resting her elbow on the armrest and idly rubbing her knuckles, she turned her gaze to the car window, her expression cold and unapproachable. Xia You got her wish, she was released but for some reason, the space beside her suddenly felt empty.
Glancing nervously at Bo Shuixi’s profile, Xia You hesitantly spoke up, “The project you mentioned…”
The inexplicable haze of passion that had briefly clouded her mind had now cleared, and Bo Shuixi returned to her usual state of indifference too lazy to care about anything. She shifted slightly, propping her chin on one hand as she looked out the window. “It’s an esports variety show.”
Xia You blinked, surprised by the answer.
Bo Shuixi continued lazily, “It’s a collaboration between the game’s official team, a few entertainment companies, and Fruit TV. The show’s doing pretty well. Coincidentally, Zhou Wanwan will be a guest player this weekend, and one of the artists under my agency is also on the show. I can take you there.”
This way, Xia You could observe Li Wei’s work demeanor through the staff’s perspective.
It had been so long since she’d last seen her. Just thinking about Li Wei made Xia You happy, happy enough to momentarily ignore the shadow cast over her heart by Zhou Wanwan.
The backseat of the Maybach was silent. Xia You was lost in her thoughts, while Bo Shuixi subtly shifted her gaze, giving Xia You an indifferent once-over.
Even with all the misunderstandings and secrets between you and Li Wei, you still like her?
Bo Shuixi looked away, feeling for the first time that Li Wei’s existence was genuinely annoying. And Xia You, so naive it was almost unbearable. It really made her want to bully her mercilessly.
Two or three days later, on Saturday, Bo Shuixi kept her word and took Xia You to We Meet at the Peak, the high-budget esports variety show co-produced by the game’s organizers and Fruit TV.
Thanks to the growing popularity of esports and the increasing number of players willing to spend money on it, the entertainment industry had taken notice of its influence and couldn’t resist dipping its toes into the scene.
This show was the first high-profile esports variety program in the country. Unlike regular season livestreams, the main participants were top celebrities from various fields ranging from veteran actors to rising idols, with occasional appearances by controversial yet enduring figures like Zhou Wanwan.
The game’s official team had even invited several high-profile retired streamers to serve as temporary team coaches, boosting the show’s professional credibility. Every detail had been carefully considered.
As Bo Shuixi led Xia You into the venue rented by the production team, she spotted He Jiu from a distance, walking toward them with a blue lanyard around her neck. Behind her was a tall Omega dressed in a black sleeveless vest and cargo pants.
That Omega was strikingly attractive, with sharp, striking features that could rival any alpha bold and breathtakingly beautiful.
“Isn’t this President Bai? What brings you here in person?” The Omega smiled before even getting close. “I thought Vice President Xu would be coming today.”
“She has other work.” Bai Shuixi responded casually, taking the work pass from He Jiu and handing it to Xia You.
The approaching Omega was one of the entertainment industry’s veteran guests on the show We Meet at the Peak, the renowned actress Shi Laiyin, who had won both film and television awards. Even among Tianyin’s limited roster of artists, she was a heavyweight. Even someone like Xia You, who rarely paid attention to the entertainment industry, had seen her work.
“And this is…?” Shi Laiyin asked curiously, watching Bai Shuixi hand the pass to Xia You.
“Hello, Teacher Shi. I’m Xia You, President Bai’s new assistant.” Xia You smiled gently, introducing herself in a soft, professional tone while subtly observing the details of this Omega actress.
Her personality seemed more cheerful than on-screen, but her outfit and makeup were meticulously crafted simple at a glance but clearly painstakingly prepared. Likely an introverted type, as Xia You had previously guessed, not one to easily open up to others.
Just as Shi Laiyin was about to respond with a ‘hello,’ Bai Shuixi leisurely voiced a question from the side: “Just that?”
Xia You froze, glancing at Bai Shuixi in confusion with a silent look: Isn’t it?
Bai Shuixi smirked, the corners of her eyes curling with mischief as she silently replied: Forgot what you promised me? Xia You paused for two seconds before memories from the HV store flooded back. Disbelieving, she murmured, “H-here? Now?”
Bai Shuixi didn’t answer, merely tilting her head slightly toward Shi Laiyin, the meaning couldn’t have been clearer: Right here.
Xia You stiffened slightly, shifting her gaze to see Shi Laiyin’s puzzled expression.
Shi Laiyin: “?”
“Also…” Xia You’s rosy lips parted as she forced out an almost inaudible whisper, “also President Bai’s, girlfriend.”
Xia You had assumed she only needed to acknowledge it, never imagining she’d have to say it out loud.
This was utterly mortifying.
Her entire face flushed three shades redder, her gentle eyes lowering as she refused to meet Shi Laiyin’s gaze, shrinking away from everyone’s sight looking entirely too easy to bully.
Bai Shuixi glanced at Xia You’s crimson ears, the lingering frustration in her chest finally easing a little. With a composed expression, she turned to He Jiu and said, “Take Dr. Xia, Xia You, to meet the director first. Have her oversee things on set today. She doesn’t need to follow me.”
The assignment was unusual assistants typically stayed by their boss’s side to handle tasks, not supervise interactions with artists on set.
But He Jiu never questioned Bai Shuixi’s decisions. With a quick ‘got it,’ she led the visibly uncomfortable Xia You away, leaving only Shi Laiyin standing in the hallway. After studying the vastly different Bai Shuixi for a moment, she called softly, “President Bai?”
“What?” Bai Shuixi turned to her, unconsciously slipping back into her usual detached demeanor.
After a moment of silence, Schlein said with mixed emotions, “You truly haven’t changed at all.”
