Forced to Live Together After Picking Up the Child of My Rival Alpha - Chapter 22
Song Yuan was baffled, but the doorway wasn’t the place to talk. With great effort, she dragged the person inside.
However, the interior was in complete disarray.
Song Yuan had no mind to deal with the mess, because Yu Jin was clutching at her clothes, muttering under her breath: “Bastard!”
Recalling Yu Jin’s unusual behavior during their recent encounters, Song Yuan couldn’t help but ask, “Who’s the bastard? Who marked you?”
Song Yuan pricked up her ears, eager to hear the answer, but the person in her arms suddenly collapsed straight onto the floor.
The floor was already a mess, and now with a person lying stiffly in the middle of it, the scene was chaotic and frightening.
Yu Jin’s body was burning hot, and it didn’t seem like she was just sleeping off a drunken stupor. Summoning all her strength, Song Yuan rolled up her sleeves, lifted Yu Jin, and carried her to the car.
The car sped toward the hospital.
Chen Man was just about to pack up and leave work when she spotted Song Yuan from a distance, holding a woman whose face was hidden. Passersby might not have recognized who it was, but as a longtime friend, Chen Man knew at a glance, it was the same woman who had received an inhibitor injection from her just hours earlier before heading home.
Chen Man hurried over. “Miss Song, what’s wrong with Yu Jin?”
Rushing to the hospital in a panic, Song Yuan was about to register when she saw a familiar face. She quickly grabbed Chen Man. “Please check on her. I don’t know what’s wrong with her this time. When I found her, she had drunk a lot.”
Drinking? Chen Man’s mind screamed in alarm. Yu Jin had already received a strong inhibitor injection earlier because she couldn’t control her pheromones. How could she dare to drink herself into a stupor?
But now wasn’t the time for scolding. Chen Man quickly arranged for Yu Jin to be taken to a well-secured private room on the top floor. Nurses sprang into action, administering an IV drip under Chen Man’s direction.
Song Yuan stayed by the bedside, taking a moment to call Luoluo back. She spent a good while reassuring the child before Luoluo finally calmed down and agreed to go to sleep.
“Okay, goodnight, Luoluo,” Song Yuan said, letting out a long sigh of relief as she hung up.
Chen Man approached from behind.
Song Yuan immediately stood up. “Dr. Chen, what’s wrong with my friend?”
“Her pheromones went out of control earlier today. Right after receiving a strong inhibitor injection, she went home and drank so much. It’s no surprise her body couldn’t handle it.”
Song Yuan opened her mouth to speak but then recalled the evening when she was talking to Yu Jin in the car, and Yu Jin suddenly forced her and her daughter to get out.
Could it be that Yu Jin’s pheromones had already started acting up at that time?
The thought prompted her to ask, “Why don’t Yu Jin’s pheromones follow a regular cycle?”
Chen Man hesitated, unsure whether she should reveal the truth to Song Yuan.
On one hand, there was her friend Yu Jin’s stubbornness; on the other, her own desire to speak up on Yu Jin’s behalf.
In the end, Chen Man decided to selectively share the truth with Song Yuan, carefully observing her reactions as she spoke.
Song Yuan listened intently.
Chen Man began to explain calmly, “Starting three years ago, Yu Jin’s pheromones became completely disordered. Her psychological state isn’t optimistic either.”
Song Yuan frowned. “Three years ago?”
Chen Man nodded. “Yes. Five years ago, she accidentally slept with an Enigma. After that one night, the pheromones in her body gradually shifted from those of a standard Alpha to those of an Omega.”
This was the first time Song Yuan had heard such a claim, and she was utterly shocked.
“So, since five years ago, Yu Jin has become an Omega?”
Chen Man nodded: “Yes.”
Song Yuan suddenly felt that everything had a trace to follow. Five years ago, during that variety show, Yu Jin abruptly chose to withdraw midway could it also be related to this matter?
Thinking back to when she had urged Yu Jin to reveal the reason, Song Yuan suddenly understood why Yu Jin had looked so scornful at the time.
After collecting her thoughts, Song Yuan continued to ask, “Then why do you say the pheromones became completely disordered three years ago?”
Chen Man, while subtly observing Song Yuan’s expression, carefully chose her words: “Because ever since five years ago, Yu Jin has never been able to accept that she was marked as an Omega. Not only does she regularly inject pheromones to disguise herself as an Alpha, but every time her Omega pheromones flare up, she also injects herself with suppressants.”
Song Yuan was horrified and murmured, “No wonder.”
Chen Man smiled bitterly: “During this program recording, her pheromones must have flared up midway.”
Song Yuan recalled the absurd night that followed, her ears turning red as she nodded: “I was the one who injected the suppressant for her.”
This was within Chen Man’s expectations. “Then you should know that the time it takes for Yu Jin’s pheromones to return to normal is much slower than the average person’s recovery time after taking suppressants.”
Remembering those two instances, Song Yuan nodded: “Yes, and she remained groggy for a long time.”
Chen Man explained, “She started injecting pheromones to disguise herself as an Alpha five years ago, but when her body’s pheromones flare up, she can’t accept herself in that state and tries to prevent the flare-ups.”
Song Yuan couldn’t bear to speculate, “So, it’s just been this cycle repeating itself?”
Chen Man nodded: “Yes, for a full five years, it’s been like this. Three years ago, after her pheromones became disordered, the effectiveness of ordinary suppressants gradually diminished for her.”
Yu Jin lay peacefully on the hospital bed, needles and tubes inserted into her hands and body, her face pale.
After hearing Chen Man’s explanation, Song Yuan gradually began to understand Yu Jin’s previously inexplicable behavior.
“So today, she was injected with a high-potency suppressant?”
Chen Man nodded: “Yes.”
Song Yuan thought for a moment, then suddenly understood and turned to Chen Man: “No wonder, no wonder she called me a bastard when she phoned today.”
Chen Man frowned, her gaze meeting Song Yuan’s with a hint of complexity.
Song Yuan felt as if she had solved a case: “No wonder! She must have dialed the wrong number. She probably meant to call that Enigma who marked her as an Omega, right?”
Chen Man nodded hesitantly, thinking to herself: But that call was meant for you, it wasn’t a wrong number.
Song Yuan hadn’t expected Yu Jin’s situation to be so tragic and looked at the person on the hospital bed with a complicated expression.
Chen Man was carefully considering what else to say when she heard Song Yuan angrily ask, “So what happened to that Enigma afterward?”
Chen Man glanced at Yu Jin on the hospital bed, then at the back of Song Yuan’s head, shifting her gaze between the two before finally blurting out, “Later, that Enigma left.”
“Left? Just like that?”
Song Yuan was astonished. Who in the world could have slept with Yu Jin and still had the heart to leave?
Chen Man’s expression was complicated: “In any case, that Enigma didn’t take responsibility for Yu Jin and, frankly, was a complete bastard.”
As Chen Man observed the back of Song Yuan’s head, she left unsaid: And it seems that Enigma isn’t all that bright either.
Song Yuan furrowed her brows deeply, thinking, Any alpha in this situation would go crazy. Yu Jin is doing well just to maintain her mental state.
Putting herself in Yu Jin’s shoes, Song Yuan quickly shook her head. If she were to suddenly become an omega overnight, she wouldn’t be able to accept it either!
Her inner balance began to shift. Yu Jin’s inexplicable actions and words now had an explanation, making them seem less baffling. A wave of sympathy for Yu Jin welled up in her heart.
Unable to hold back, Song Yuan muttered under her breath, “That Enigma is truly despicable! To cause such chaos, ruin someone’s life, and then just walk away, she’ll get what’s coming to her.”
Chen Man’s eyebrow twitched, and she looked at Song Yuan with a complicated expression.
If I told this fool that she herself is that Enigma, how would she react? How would she treat Yu Jin then?
Unaware of Chen Man’s thoughts, Song Yuan continued to vent her anger at the Enigma Chen Man had mentioned, all the while feeling a growing sympathy for Yu Jin.
Her gaze involuntarily drifted to Yu Jin lying on the bed.
Yu Jin was still unconscious, her face pale, her brows slightly furrowed, and her hair disheveled on either side of her cheeks. She looked exceptionally fragile.
This doesn’t look good, Song Yuan thought with concern.
“Doctor, since Yu Jin is suffering from hormonal imbalance, aside from using strong suppressants to control it, is there any treatment that can completely resolve her hormonal issues?”
Chen Man wanted to tell Song Yuan that she was the Enigma responsible for Yu Jin’s condition and that taking responsibility for Yu Jin would solve the problem.
She opened her mouth to speak, but the words twisted on her tongue, and in the end, she held back.
“The effectiveness of strong suppressants will gradually diminish for A Jin until they become useless. She needs to find an alpha to help her through each episode of hormonal imbalance. Only then can she slowly regulate the chaos in her body.”
Song Yuan may be infamous, but Yu Jin was different.
Yu Jin was highly popular, regarded as an unattainable flower admired by many, captivating both alphas and omegas alike.
“If it’s just about finding an alpha, that shouldn’t be difficult for Yu Jin.”
Upon hearing this, Chen Man let out a deep sigh, her face filled with worry.
“Finding an alpha isn’t the issue for A Jin. The problem is she doesn’t want to. She can’t accept transforming from an alpha into an omega, and she refuses to be marked by an alpha. If it weren’t for that, she wouldn’t have ended up in this state.”
Song Yuan thought it over and agreed. If she were in Yu Jin’s place, she wouldn’t want it either.
Sigh, it’s all that Enigma’s fault, reducing a proud and unattainable alpha to this state.
Since they were in a hospital, Chen Man couldn’t stay for long. After giving Song Yuan a few instructions, she was called away by a nurse to attend to other patients.
Glancing at the motionless Yu Jin on the bed, Song Yuan stepped into the bathroom, picked up her phone, and called her agent.
Luoluo was well-behaved and obedient, but she was still a child.
The phone rang only a few times before it was answered, and Luo Wei’s familiar voice reached Song Yuan’s ears.
“My dear, why are you calling so late? Don’t tell me you’ve gotten into trouble again.”
“Nothing like that,” Song Yuan quickly denied. “Weiwei-jie, do I seem like the type to cause trouble?”
Luo Wei couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “Just open your phone and look online. See how the fans of several celebrities are tearing each other apart because of you? Haven’t you caused enough trouble?”
Song Yuan rubbed her nose, silently grumbling to herself that she had no control over what happened online.
Even though she had tried her best to keep her distance from everyone, netizens somehow managed to interpret her actions in ways she never intended.
What could she possibly do about it? She felt just as helpless, okay?
