Forced to Live Together After Picking Up the Child of My Rival Alpha - Chapter 21
In the hospital’s doctor’s lounge, Yu Jin kept glancing at her phone.
Seeing this, Chen Man was furious. No matter how much she tried to persuade or warn her, Yu Jin wouldn’t listen.
As a doctor, Chen Man had no choice but to try to reach Yu Jin through conversation.
“I watched the variety show you recorded. Luoluo really likes Song Yuan as a mother, and Song Yuan treats Luoluo very well too.”
Yu Jin lowered her gaze, the phone in her hand remaining dark.
Chen Man continued, “Your pheromones are becoming increasingly unstable. The effectiveness of suppressants on you will only get weaker.”
Yu Jin listened to Chen Man’s cold, stern lecturing, enduring the waves of pain coursing through her entire body.
“You have to solve this problem eventually! Either confess to Song Yuan or find someone else. The choice is yours!”
Tormented by her physical state, Yu Jin snapped, “I’m not choosing either!”
“You have to choose!” Chen Man was always easily provoked to anger by Yu Jin. Yu Jin was both her patient and her old friend.
“I’ll keep using suppressants. When regular suppressants stop working, I’ll use strong ones. If even those fail, I’ll have surgery to remove my gland!”
Yu Jin’s words echoed in the lounge. Chen Man looked at her in disbelief. “Were you serious just now?”
“Yes.” Yu Jin’s reply was firm.
Chen Man closed her eyes. Yu Jin was determined. Even if she forcibly confined her here, Yu Jin would rather go mad from pheromone torment than give up on using suppressants.
Helpless, Chen Man stood up to retrieve the suppressants and administered an injection to Yu Jin.
As the medication entered her body, Yu Jin finally found temporary relief.
But unlike before, the relief was short-lived. Soon, the overwhelming sensation swept through her again, bringing unbearable agony.
Chen Man took two steps back. “It’s useless. Regular suppressants don’t work on you anymore.”
With a sigh, she took out the strong suppressants Yu Jin wanted and injected her.
It was Yu Jin’s first time using strong suppressants, and she soon felt significantly better, unable to hold back a long, relieved sigh.
Chen Man’s expression, however, grew increasingly grim. “Regular suppressants are no longer effective on you, and the strong ones will become less and less effective over time. Their potency will diminish exponentially until they’re useless.”
Yu Jin nodded. “Prescribe me a few more doses to take home.”
Chen Man shook her head. “I won’t give you extra. You need to figure out a solution in the next few days.”
Yu Jin closed her eyes. “Alright. Thank you for this.”
Watching Yu Jin leave, Chen Man wished she could shake some sense into her.
Xiao Liu had been waiting outside the door for an hour before Yu Jin finally emerged, her hair clinging to her sweat-drenched cheeks.
Xiao Liu hurried forward to support her.
Only after seeing Yu Jin safely upstairs did Xiao Liu leave with peace of mind.
The cool-toned soft furnishings gave the entire space a solemn, austere feel. Yu Jin casually picked up a brightly colored pillow, retrieved a bottle of red wine and a glass from the wine cabinet, and placed them haphazardly on the small table, adding a touch of relaxation to the bedroom.
But Yu Jin’s mind remained tormented, Chen Man’s words about making a choice echoing in her ears.
Even though she knew how severe the consequences would be if the strong suppressants stopped working, she still couldn’t bring herself to humbly seek pleasure beneath someone else, nor could she tell Song Yuan the real reason. If Song Yuan found out.
Song Yuan, oh Song Yuan, you really are a scoundrel. The scene from that night flooded back into Yu Jin’s mind.
The high-proof liquor slid down her throat, leaving a faint chill and a lingering bitterness, yet it brought Yu Jin an unexpected sense of relief at that moment.
Just thirty minutes earlier, Luoluo had been pleading with Song Yuan to call back, but the sounds from the screen in front of her had completely captured her attention. The plot of the fairy tale movie was reaching its climax, and Luoluo was so engrossed that she had completely forgotten about Yu Jin, who was drinking alone at home.
Song Yuan popped a grape into Luoluo’s mouth. Without taking her eyes off the screen, Luoluo murmured a distracted “thank you,” her mind entirely absorbed by the movie.
On a whim, Song Yuan quietly slipped into the kitchen, grabbed a bitter melon, and nonchalantly held it to Luoluo’s lips.
Luoluo took a bite, and her little brows immediately furrowed tightly. Only then did she realize what was in front of her.
By the time she turned her head, Song Yuan was already sprawled on the sofa, laughing uncontrollably.
Feigning anger, Luoluo imitated the villain from the movie, raising her eyebrows and tossing the bitter melon aside indignantly. “Bad Mommy! Bad bitter melon!”
Her antics only made Song Yuan laugh even harder.
Distracted by Song Yuan’s teasing, Luoluo finally pulled her attention away from the movie.
Suddenly, she remembered something. “Mommy!”
Song Yuan thought to herself, You little ingrate, not even a movie can stop you from missing your mommy.
Luoluo tugged at Song Yuan’s hand, her voice soft and pleading. “Mom, Mom, please call Mommy back. What if she has something important to say?Song Yuan was always swayed by Luoluo’s occasional acting cute and cuteness.
Considering that Yu Jin wasn’t one to call without reason, Song Yuan finally gave in under Luoluo’s pitiful gaze and dialed the number.
After a few rings, the call was answered. “Hello?”
The breathing on the other end sounded heavy.
Song Yuan spoke first. “Yu Jin?”
From the other side, Yu Jin muttered, “Song Yuan, why didn’t you answer when I needed you the most?”
Unfortunately, the phone was too far from Yu Jin’s mouth, and all that reached Song Yuan’s ears was, “Why didn’t you answer my call?”
Song Yuan explained, “I was in the bathroom just now.”
She waited for Yu Jin to continue, but all she heard from the other end was the clinking of a glass.
A faint sense of unease crept into Song Yuan’s mind. “Professor Yu, did you need something earlier?”
On the other end of the line, Yu Jin rested her chin on the table, savoring the numbing pleasure brought by the alcohol.
“Yes, of course I needed something.”
Song Yuan fell silent, signaling that she was ready to listen.
Luoluo also perked up, eagerly waiting to hear what secrets Mommy would share with Mom!
After a moment of silence, the person on the other end suddenly spoke with resentment. “Song Yuan, do you have any idea what you’ve done?”
Song Yuan was baffled. What’s wrong with her now?
“No, I don’t.”
Yu Jin on the other end snorted coldly and laughed. “You don’t know. Of course, you don’t know. You’re just a clueless fool, a scoundrel!”
???
Song Yuan was immensely grateful she had put the call on speaker, letting Luoluo hear Yu Jin’s words too.
Song Yuan nodded. “Alright, alright. Did you call me so late just to scold me?”
Yu Jin’s mind was muddled, a surge of frustration rising within her. “Yes!”
She thought again about the recent times her pheromones had gone haywire because of Song Yuan and muttered under her breath, “Scoundrel, you’d better stay far away from me. That way, that way I won’t have to suffer like this.”
Song Yuan took a deep breath. “So, you called me in the middle of the night just to lecture me, is that it? Fine, listen carefully.”
Just as Song Yuan was about to unleash her family’s inherited intangible cultural techniques, a rustling sound came from the other end of the phone, followed by the sharp shatter of a glass hitting the floor.
Song Yuan frowned. “Yu Jin, what are you doing?”
But this time, the only response was Yu Jin’s pained groan.
“Yu Jin? Yu Jin?” Song Yuan frowned, sensing that something was wrong.
Although Song Yuan and Yu Jin didn’t have the best relationship, Song Yuan didn’t think Yu Jin would be so bored as to call her in the middle of the night just to yell at her.
Luoluo also heard the commotion from Yu Jin’s side and grew worried.
“Mom, what’s wrong with Mommy?”
Song Yuan shook her head, indicating she didn’t know.
Yu Jin’s breathing was heavy and labored, as if she were injured?
Song Yuan couldn’t help but worry. “Professor Yu? Yu Jin? Are you okay over there?”
But there was no response, only the sound of something else falling to the floor.
Song Yuan considered hanging up, but she was afraid something might have happened to Yu Jin. As she hesitated, another rustling sound came through the phone, followed by Yu Jin’s unmistakably pained moan.
A bad feeling settled in Song Yuan’s heart. Although Yu Jin was often emotionally unstable and said strange things, Song Yuan’s subconscious still worried that something might actually be wrong with her.
Luoluo, naturally, also heard the chaotic noises from the other end of the phone and looked panicked.
Song Yuan crouched down, placing her hands on Luoluo’s small shoulders. “Luoluo, stay home and play quietly. Mom is going to check on your Mommy.”
Though young, Luoluo was sensible and knew she would only be in the way if she went. She nodded seriously. “Go ahead, Mom. I’ll wait for you at home. If anything happens, I’ll call you.”
Luoluo even raised her wrist to show her phone watch.
Song Yuan patted Luoluo’s head and began searching for Xiao Liu’s contact information.
After some effort, she finally managed to get Yu Jin’s home address and detailed apartment number.
The night was deep and damp with dew. Song Yuan covered her face, wrapped herself up tightly, and arrived at Yu Jin’s doorstep. She knocked on the door while still on the phone.
By the time Song Yuan was about to call the police, the door slowly opened, and the strong smell of alcohol rushed straight into Song Yuan’s nostrils.
Yu Jin’s brow was slightly furrowed, and a flush spread from her ears down to her neck.
The moment she saw Song Yuan’s face, a haze clouded Yu Jin’s pupils. Her expression grew misty, and she collapsed into Song Yuan’s arms. “You jerk!”
Song Yuan was stunned by the person who had thrown herself into her arms from inside the room.
“Yu Jin? It’s me!”
Song Yuan tried to help Yu Jin up, but Yu Jin had no ability to stand on her own.
She buried her face in Song Yuan’s chest and muttered, “You jerk, why don’t you like me? Why did you have to mark me.”
