Forced to Live Together After Picking Up the Child of My Rival Alpha - Chapter 10
After the meal, Wei Yang pulled her child, Dian Dian, over to Luoluo, intending to let the two children play together.
Dian Dian, with her two pigtails swinging and a small duck-shaped bag slung across her shoulder, pulled out a Luban lock from inside.
She handed the Luban lock to Luoluo and said proudly, “My mom said that whoever can solve this lock is the smartest person in the world.”
“Luoluo, do you want to try?”
Dian Dian kept pushing the Luban lock into Luoluo’s arms.
Luoluo stared curiously at the lock, her small hand reaching out tentatively before pulling back. She turned to look in Song Yuan’s direction.
Song Yuan’s eyes were filled with the sight of Luoluo wanting to try something new, and she thought with relief: The little one’s condition has improved a bit more, and she’s becoming more curious about the world around her.
Song Yuan encouraged her with her eyes: “Luoluo, you can give it a try, but this little toy doesn’t have much to do with being smart or not.”
Luoluo was happy and instinctively looked for Yu Jin’s figure, but Yu Jin was sitting far away, and she had to stand on tiptoe to see her.
Although Yu Jin was sitting far away, her attention had been focused on them all along. When Luoluo’s pleading gaze met hers, she responded with an encouraging smile.
Receiving encouragement from both Song Yuan and Yu Jin, Luoluo gently took the Luban lock and began fiddling with it.
However, after a long time, the small Luban lock remained unsolved it was incredibly intricate.
So long that Dian Dian had lost patience and started tugging at Wei Yang, fussing: “Mom promised Dian Dian yesterday that we would go to the market today!”
Wei Yang didn’t want to leave Song Yuan’s side, but she had no choice with her child making a scene. Reluctantly, she bid farewell to Song Yuan: “Ah Yuan, I’m taking the child to the market.”
Song Yuan nodded and waved goodbye.
Deep down, she felt a bit uneasy. She wasn’t Wei Yang’s CP partner, so there was really no need for Wei Yang to report every little thing to her.
Recalling the inexplicable hot search incident at the hotel earlier, perhaps it wasn’t as simple as it seemed.
Maybe she should have Luo Jie communicate with Wei Yang’s company agent.
As she pondered, Song Yuan’s thoughts gradually drifted away.
To outsiders, it looked as though Song Yuan was a “gazing stone,” unwilling to part as she watched Wei Yang walk away.
In the distance, Yu Jin sat alone, upright and composed. Meanwhile, the live-streaming pages on the fans’ phones were flooded with red comments.
[Lang Li Ge Lang: Don’t you think Song Yuan is a bit problematic? She looks at everyone with such deep affection first Yue Yue and Ma Tianmeng, and now she’s staring at Wei Yang’s retreating figure.]
[Yang Yang Wu Xin: My Yang Yang is still too naive. I hope she sees Song Yuan’s true colors soon.]
[Yang Yang Yang Yang: Help!! Don’t you think it’s Wei Yang who’s the one approaching her? Anyway, I’m shipping this CP for now.]
[Yuan Yuan Zheng Gong: Sis, shipping everything will only lead to trouble. Even on the show, Song Yuan and Yu Jin are the real family, okay?]
[Yu Le Ge Jin: Song Yuan, you’re something else. Teaming up with our Yu Jin while flirting with Wei Yang from another group.]
[Jin @ Jin Lao Po: I’m seriously disgusted. Can we not let people like this pollute the entertainment industry? Can they just get out of the entertainment industry already!!!]
[Passerby B: Am I the only one wondering why Song Yuan and Yu Jin’s family haven’t started thinking about ways to earn money? The hundred yuan from yesterday probably isn’t much left.]
Luoluo played with the Luban lock for a long time, so long that she felt the wind in the air grow restless.
As her patience wore thin, she felt a bit disheartened and looked pleadingly at Yu Jin: “Mommy, I’m not a smart person.”
Yu Jin took the Luban lock without a word, effortlessly solved it, and handed it back to Luoluo.
Luoluo stared at the easily unlocked Luban lock in her hand, then looked up at “Smart Mommy,” saying nothing, her little brow furrowed tightly.
Watching this, Song Yuan frowned as well.
The Luban lock was solved, but Luoluo’s mood didn’t improve as Yu Jin had expected.
Luoluo seemed somewhat dejected, gazing pitifully at Song Yuan: “Mommy…”
Song Yuan pulled Luoluo closer and patiently explained, “What Dian Dian said earlier wasn’t right. Solving a Luban lock doesn’t define whether someone is smart or not.”
After a moment’s thought, Song Yuan added, “Just like some people might not do well in school but are amazing at playing the piano, singing, dancing, or other things. It doesn’t mean they’re not smart they just have different strengths.”
Luoluo tilted her head, thinking for a while: “Then, is Luoluo smart?”
Song Yuan raised an eyebrow: “Of course! In Mommy’s heart, Luoluo is the smartest little one.”
Luoluo beamed with joy, making Song Yuan and Yu Jin, who was standing nearby, melt with affection.
Song Yuan instinctively glanced in Yu Jin’s direction, only to find her turning away expressionlessly upon meeting her gaze.
Song Yuan secretly rolled her eyes, inwardly cursing her as ungrateful.
Luoluo tilted her head again: “Mommy, don’t you like Mama?”
Song Yuan broke into a sweat, glancing uncomfortably at the camera though it wasn’t filming them constantly.
She let out a sigh and replied to Luoluo, “Of course… I like her.”
“Then why don’t Mommy and Mama play together? Why do you turn your face away and secretly roll your eyes?”
Children’s expressions are always clumsy and direct.
Caught off guard by Luoluo’s question, Song Yuan flustered and tried to cover Luoluo’s mouth, sweating nervously: “…We’ve been playing together all along! And that wasn’t an eye-roll.”
Luoluo shook her head, clutching the Luban lock, and said dejectedly, “Grown-ups are so strange.”
Hearing this, Song Yuan’s heart ached, and she pulled Luoluo into a tight hug.
She felt pained by Luoluo’s sensitivity and ability to read the room. Children might not understand the complexities of adult relationships, but they can keenly sense when something is off.
Yu Jin let out an almost imperceptible sigh. Even the child had noticed.
What was the point of her keeping a stern face? Wasn’t the ultimate goal to do what was best for the child?
She had let her thoughts run wild, crossing boundaries in her mind.
After Luoluo’s questioning, the atmosphere among the three eased considerably.
As the sun set in the west, the children, full of energy, ran happily into their parents’ arms.
Yu Jin, tall and slender, stood out in an olive-colored trench coat that contrasted with her surroundings. Song Yuan, wearing a fitted long dress and a brown trench coat, had a similar figure, their perfect proportions making them uniquely striking.
Between them stood Luoluo in her princess dress, her cheeks adorned with a colorful rainbow and fluffy clouds, looking utterly adorable.
Then there was Dian Dian, her two little pigtails sticking up high, her face painted with yellow and black tiger stripes. She took big, confident steps, looking incredibly proud.
Song Yuan hadn’t originally planned to bring Dian Dian along, but Wei Yang had returned briefly, saying she had an urgent matter and asking Song Yuan to look after Dian Dian for a while.
Thinking that Dian Dian’s outgoing personality would complement Luoluo’s more reserved nature, and figuring that one more child wouldn’t make much difference, Song Yuan decided to bring her along.
And so, the four of them now stood in one of the busiest spots nearby, drawing quite a bit of attention.
At first, everyone was just watching from a distance, until Yu Jin set up the easel, arranged the paints, and placed the advertisement board for face painting.
People are naturally curious about new things, and with cameras filming nearby, the small stall was soon surrounded by a crowd.
A little boy, holding his mother’s hand, pointed at Dian Dian’s face and exclaimed, “A tiger! Mom, I want a tiger painted on my face!”
Song Yuan squinted her eyes and smiled, “We don’t just have tigers. We also have butterflies, little bunnies, little lions…”
The little boy tugged at his mother’s clothes, “Mom, I want one too! I want a little lion!”
The children thought it looked fun, and the adults found it novel. The woman promptly paid.
Song Yuan opened a fresh set of paints, holding a brush in one hand and gently steadying the little boy’s head with the other as she began painting. Occasionally, she would softly remind him, “Don’t move, or the painting will get crooked.”
Song Yuan patiently and gently attended to each child.
Comments flooded the screen in a flurry.
[Riding the Waves: The little bunny Song Yuan just painted wow, it’s absolutely adorable!]
[Yuan Yuan Origins@#: If I’m not mistaken, this is near Hope Elementary School in City A, right? I’m going there to run into her!]
[Yang Yang Yang Yang: Since when did Song Yuan learn how to paint? And honestly, charging dozens of dollars for a few strokes on a face, isn’t that a bit of a rip-off?]
[Yuan Yuan’s Main Squeeze: Sis, if you think it’s just a few strokes, why don’t you try it yourself? Don’t even know how to hold a brush and yet you’re here running your mouth. No one’s scamming you anyway, you’re too broke to afford it.]
[Yu Jin Fan: First time seeing my Yu Jin looking so overwhelmed by a bunch of kids, hahahaha, totally worth it.]
[Jin@Jin’s Wife: My Yu Jin is so attentive. Just now, a little boy kept staring at Luoluo, and Yu Jin immediately pulled her behind him, hahahaha.]
By the time they were packing up, Song Yuan’s family had made a hefty profit. Luoluo showed no signs of discomfort; instead, she alternated between clinging to Yu Jin and hugging Song Yuan’s legs.
Wei Yang and Jian Xi, having received news that Dian Dian was there, hurried over.
Jian Xi strode straight toward Dian Dian, exchanged a polite greeting with Song Yuan, and then fell silent.
The two families walked back together. When Wei Yang saw Luoluo’s face paint, her eyes lit up. “Luoluo, you look so beautiful today! Your mom is really amazing.”
Luoluo, who could now engage in simple conversations, replied softly, “Thank you, Auntie.”
Wei Yang reached out to pick her up, and before Luoluo could react, she was already in her arms.
Luoluo struggled to get down but was subtly yet firmly held in place by Wei Yang.
Wei Yang held Luoluo affectionately while chatting with Song Yuan, “I’ve always wanted a daughter like Luoluo quiet, smart, and adorable.”
Just as Song Yuan was about to speak and take Luoluo back, Yu Jin suddenly stepped forward, decisively reclaiming Luoluo into his own arms.
His voice was cold and firm as he said, “Luoluo doesn’t like being held by outsiders.”
He emphasized the word “outsiders” heavily.
Wei Yang looked embarrassed and gave Song Yuan an awkward smile. “Luoluo seemed to like me just now, so I held her a little longer.”
Song Yuan wondered what had gotten into Yu Jin, suddenly snatching the child like that.
But that wasn’t important. She didn’t like Wei Yang holding Luoluo either, Luoluo had clearly been resistant.
Besides, she was tired of all the messy gossip and trending scandals. Those attention-seeking Omegas better stay away from her. She really didn’t want to be criticized anymore!
