Forced to Live Together After Picking Up the Child of My Rival Alpha - Chapter 11
In addition to testing everyone’s ability to earn money and survive, the program team also focused on parent-child interactions and exploring educational approaches.
This was one of the key elements to keep the audience engaged.
After dinner, everyone gathered in the courtyard to enjoy the cool evening breeze. Song Yuan suddenly had an idea to brew a pot of red wine herbal tea to help with sleep.
A few slices of orange, a few slices of apple, cinnamon, rosemary, star anise, and bay leaves, along with an appropriate amount of rock sugar. She poured in enough red wine to cover the ingredients and lit the flame.
It was a perfect scene of brewing tea by the stove.
As time passed, the calm wine began to boil, filling the air with its rich aroma.
The program team handed each child a set of puzzles, requiring them to complete the puzzles before the adults finished their red wine tea. The adults could offer guidance but were not allowed to help directly.
Upon receiving the puzzle task, Luoluo first examined the completed puzzle poster provided by the manufacturer before patiently opening the puzzle box.
Song Yuan didn’t rush her. Instead, she patiently sipped her red tea nearby, offering words of encouragement to Luoluo.
Dian Dian had already noticed a loophole in the program team’s requirements. Tugging at Jian Xi’s hand, she said, “Mommy, Mommy, drink slowly so we’ll have more time!”
Bella, with her fluffy mushroom haircut, tore open the puzzle box forcefully and mimicked an adult’s tone, saying, “A little puzzle? No problem~”
The evening breeze gently brushed by as the little heads huddled together, fully engrossed in their puzzles. The adults chatted occasionally.
For the rest of the time, Song Yuan remained completely focused on Luoluo.
She didn’t notice Yu Jin’s occasional glances toward the two of them.
Halfway through assembling the puzzle, Luoluo paused, holding a small piece thoughtfully, unsure where to place it.
Wei Yang glanced around and walked over to Luoluo. Squatting down, he picked up the reference image she had been using and held it up for her to see from a distance.
“Little Luoluo, look at the color of this small piece.”
Wei Yang circled a spot on the image, and Luoluo’s eyes lit up. “Yes, that’s the place!”
Having overcome the bottleneck, Luoluo was overjoyed.
Song Yuan, however, was displeased. This clearly seemed like cheating.
At that moment, Dian Dian suddenly threw her puzzle aside. “I don’t want to do this anymore.”
Wei Yang glanced over and said, “Jian Xi, teach Dian Dian to be more patient.”
Then, without looking back, he continued explaining to Luoluo, “Look, this part goes like this.”
Song Yuan frowned as she watched Dian Dian. It felt strange to her that Wei Yang would ignore his own child and focus on someone else’s.
Jian Xi patiently tried to comfort Dian Dian, but Dian Dian couldn’t help glancing over at Wei Yang and Luoluo.
Seeing that she hadn’t caught Wei Yang’s attention, Dian Dian quietly slipped behind Luoluo when no one was looking.
Grabbing a corner of Luoluo’s puzzle, she yanked it hard crash the colorful puzzle pieces scattered all over the floor.
Luoluo stumbled back in fright, and Song Yuan quickly picked her up, soothing her by gently stroking her little ears. “It’s okay, it’s okay.”
Luoluo didn’t cry, but her eyes reddened as she looked at her mother.
Seeing everyone gathering around, Dian Dian realized she had caused trouble and grew fearful. Her eyes welled up with tears as she looked at Wei Yang, hoping for some comfort.
But Wei Yang offered none. After gathering Luoluo’s puzzle pieces, she angrily scolded Dian Dian, “Dian Dian! How could you do that? You’re not being good at all!”
Dian Dian trembled all over from Wei Yang’s scolding, utterly frightened. She couldn’t understand she just wanted her mother to treat her the same way she treated Luoluo.
Seeing that Dian Dian wasn’t responding, Wei Yang stepped forward and pulled her over to Luoluo. “Hurry up, apologize to Luoluo!”
A wave of grievance washed over Dian Dian. Tears fell in big drops, her little mouth quivered, and she burst into loud sobs.
Song Yuan frowned at the scene. An apology was one thing, but the way Wei Yang was manhandling the child was hardly how a mother should act.
“Don’t pull her like that, you’ll hurt her.”
Beside them, Bella was also frightened. She held Yue Yue tightly and looked nervously at the center of the conflict Dian Dian.
Ma Tianmeng, her variety show instincts kicking in, hurried over to pick up Dian Dian and wiped her tears. “It’s okay, it’s okay. Your mom Wei Yang is just a little anxious. Why did you hit Luoluo earlier?”
Seeing that someone was comforting and asking her, Dian Dian shouted at Wei Yang, “I don’t like this mom at all! She likes Luoluo more! She should just be Luoluo’s mom!”
Her words plunged everyone into an awkward silence. Wei Yang couldn’t defend herself against a child’s accusation.
Fortunately, in the end, Meng Yanyan stepped in. Holding a puzzle, she delivered a summary and critique of the situation. On the show, Dian Dian eventually apologized to Luoluo, and the puzzle incident was officially put to rest at least within the program.
While the show could move on, the internet never forgets. Comments flooded the screen:
[YangYangDingDang:](https://www.example.com) Dian Dian is way too sensitive! My girl just wanted to get closer to Song Yuan.
[RandomPasserby:](https://www.example.com) Wei Yang went too far. From when Song Yuan packed up her stall this afternoon to the puzzle tonight, she kept pushing this “we’re a family” vibe with Song Yuan.
[YuYu:](https://www.example.com) Kids are naturally sensitive. Wei Yang and Song Yuan have been flirting nonstop, acting like a family and Dian Dian isn’t allowed to complain?
[ChildPsychologistWang:](https://www.example.com) The moment Wei Yang walked over to get close to Luoluo, Dian Dian was already on high alert. Throwing the puzzle was just her way of seeking her mother’s attention, it’s a child’s possessiveness toward their parent.
[MengMengNo1:](https://www.example.com) Didn’t Song Yuan used to be with Wei Yang? And now she’s teamed up with Yu Jin on the show. If she’s going to cling to Yu Jin for screen time, why is she still tangled up with Wei Yang?
[YueYueYueYue:](https://www.example.com) This circle is seriously messy.
[OldYuIsWithMe:](https://www.example.com) This whole show is a disaster. Just leave my Yu Jin out of it, please.
[YuJinsWife:](https://www.example.com) Let Song Yuan and that Wei Yang stick together forever. Why don’t the three of them start a family? Just stay away from my Yu Jin, thanks.
Marketing accounts went into a frenzy, editing clips of Dian Dian and Luoluo and fueling heated debates with carefully crafted captions.
After the puzzle incident, no one was in the mood to enjoy any wine or tea. They cleaned up the courtyard and retreated to their rooms with their children for the night.
Luoluo, still shaken from the day’s events, lay in bed tightly wrapped in her blanket, holding onto Yu Jin with one hand and Song Yuan with the other. She simply refused to close her eyes.
“Mom, sleep with me,” Luoluo pleaded, her voice trembling slightly.
Yu Jin put away her intimidating expression and remained still.
Song Yuan’s heart ached seeing Luoluo so frightened, it reminded her of their first meeting. She sighed inwardly, gently rubbing Luoluo’s little ear. “Alright, sweetheart, Mom will sleep with you.”
By the time Luoluo was drifting off, Yu Jin stood up and left, bringing a chill gust of wind with her.
Under the cover of a moonless night and howling winds, Wei Yang had just stepped out of the restroom, water still dripping from her hands, when an unseen force abruptly yanked her into a nearby stall.
In the dim glow of the lighting, Wei Yang locked eyes with Yu Jin. A scream rose in her throat, but it died there, choked back by the icy glare Yu Jin shot her way.
“You, Wei Yang, I don’t care if you want to stir up publicity with Song Yuan, but don’t you dare use Luoluo. Keep your little schemes to yourself.”
Wei Yang was both startled and bewildered.
Yu Jin had never been one to meddle in others’ affairs in the industry. What business was it of hers if Wei Yang latched onto Song Yuan for some CP hype?!
Blood rushed to her head, anger overwhelming reason.
It made Wei Yang forget just what status Yu Jin held in the entertainment world now. She snapped furiously, “What’s it to you? Luoluo isn’t even your child!”
Yu Jin curled her lips into a cold smirk. “Don’t think I didn’t see what you did to Luoluo this afternoon. If there’s a next time, don’t blame me for not holding back. Not even your team will be able to protect you.”
Wei Yang jolted back to her senses. Given Yu Jin’s current standing in the industry, a single word from her could indeed make Wei Yang’s career grind to a halt.
She recalled that afternoon, how she had forcibly picked up Luoluo, refusing to let the child struggle free, all to create a picture-perfect, harmonious family scene with Song Yuan and the child for the cameras.
Then came a wave of frantic fear. Yu Jin her team probably couldn’t afford to cross her.
Stricken with guilt, Wei Yang fell silent.
Yu Jin flung Wei Yang’s hand away as if it were something filthy, leaving behind a sharp, cutting gust in her wake.
