- You Smell So Good! After Reuniting, My Ex-Boyfriend Forcefully Took Me Back
- Chapter 5 - The Scent of Magnolia
In a clean, quiet room, Liang Yanxiu lay back in a chair.
“I can still dream about him.”
“I can’t see his face clearly, but I just know he’s smiling.”
“He tilts his head back and smiles at me.”
Chen Sen sat nearby and asked, “How did you feel in that moment?”
Liang Yanxiu kept his eyes closed. “Every time I try to get close to him, my chest starts to ache terribly.”
“I wake up shortly after, remembering nothing.”
Chen Sen spoke softly, “Ache?”
“Is it a physical, tangible pain, or is it psychological?”
“I don’t know.”
Liang Yanxiu’s lips looked a bit pale.
“All I know is that I’ve lost something very important.”
Chen Sen closed his notebook. “Mr. Liang, your current state is quite unstable.”
“I suggest you adopt a gentler, more conservative approach to treatment.”
“Being too impatient might actually be counterproductive.”
When he stepped out of Chen Sen’s clinic, Liang Yanxiu’s expression remained heavy.
However, this time, a specific figure lingered in his mind.
A slender, clean-looking Omega, standing with his back to him, head lowered, exposing the delicate nape of his neck without any defense.
“Hello, this is Spring Flowers Shop. Is this Ms. Wang?”
“I’ve arrived at the west gate of the neighborhood. I’ll be right down, so please wait a moment.”
Suddenly hearing Fang Zhiyou’s voice made Liang Yanxiu doubt if his symptoms were worsening.
Was he starting to hallucinate voices now?
He turned his head toward the back left and saw a thin figure in a light green trench coat. The young man was pushing an electric scooter, standing by the sidewalk of the residential area.
He was cradling a bouquet of flowers that almost entirely blocked his view of what was in front of him.
He was about to walk straight into the guardrail by the sidewalk.
His body moved before his logic could catch up. By the time Liang Yanxiu realized what he was doing, he had already rushed over and firmly gripped Fang Zhiyou’s slender arm.
Fang Zhiyou was still on the phone with his customer. “I’m here, coming in now.”
He turned his head, his eyes crinkling into a smile. “Thank you”
When he saw it was Liang Yanxiu, Fang Zhiyou’s eyes slowly widened until they were perfectly round.
The Omega held his phone, his face looking clean and fair.
Perhaps because the night air was a bit chilly, the tip of his nose and his cheeks were slightly flushed, and the stray hairs on his forehead were a bit messy.
But his eyes were clear, bright, and starkly black and white.
Their eyes met.
Liang Yanxiu heard the sound of his heart beating, a sensation he hadn’t felt in a long time.
Thump.
Thump-thump.
Thump-thump-thump.
In that moment, time seemed to freeze, and the world around them drifted away.
“Hello? Hello? I’m coming down, why don’t I see you?”
The woman’s voice on the other end of the line broke the atmosphere. Almost the instant Liang Yanxiu let go, Fang Zhiyou scrambled back several steps.
“Ah, I’ll be right there.”
He hung up the phone in a fluster and hurried into the neighborhood.
Liang Yanxiu watched his retreating back as the quiet world returned to its usual roar.
The sound of cars racing by, the shouts of street vendors, and the chatter of pedestrians all came rushing back.
Liang Yanxiu looked down at the hand that had just held Fang Zhiyou.
He slowly raised his hand to his nose, his nostrils flared slightly, catching a faint, lingering scent of magnolia.
The driver pulled the car over and rolled down the window. Seeing Liang Yanxiu standing in the wind with an unreadable expression, seemingly smelling his own hand, he called out.
“Boss?”
Liang Yanxiu turned at the sound. The driver gestured to him, got out to walk around the car, and opened the door.
Liang Yanxiu withdrew his gaze, turned around, and climbed into the vehicle.
The black sedan merged into the flow of traffic and soon disappeared.
After Fang Zhiyou finished the delivery and left the complex, he was terrified of bumping into Liang Yanxiu again. He stood by the security booth, making sure the figure he feared wasn’t there before jogging back to his scooter.
He plugged in the key and sped away as fast as he could.
