- You Smell So Good! After Reuniting, My Ex-Boyfriend Forcefully Took Me Back
- Chapter 4 - Little Sister-in-Law
The Spring Blossom flower shop was officially open for business.
When Fang Zhiyou left the Imperial Capital years ago, he never intended to return. However, Fang Leyun had fallen ill, and the local doctors were at their wits’ end. Out of desperation, he had no choice but to come back.
Opening a flower shop had been a dream of Zhiyou’s since he was a young man. Now, that dream was a reality.
Inside the shop, Zhiyou sat on a stool, focused on pruning a fresh batch of champagne roses. The wind chimes hanging on the door tinkled as a customer pushed it open and walked in.
“Boss, do you have any white roses?”
Zhiyou looked up. “Yes, we do.”
He stood up and led the customer to the display area, introducing the varieties one by one. Once the customer made their selection, he began wrapping the bouquet.
“Ah Zhe!”
A Beta pushed the door open and entered. The Beta who was currently paying turned around and asked, “What are you doing in here?”
“Just wanted to take a look.”
“Here, these are for you. Do they look good?”
“They’re beautiful.”
Sitting behind the counter with his chin resting on his hand, Zhiyou watched the two Betas in their early twenties. His eyes crinkled into a smile, and a warmth spread through his chest.
They’re so young, he thought.
I must have been just like that in my early twenties, right? It’s wonderful to be young.
He was thirty-two this year, long past the age of yearning for romance. Yet, whenever he thought back to the days he spent with Liang Yanxiu, he couldn’t help but smile.
At Cloud’s Peak, the top private club in the Imperial Capital, the moment Liang Yanxiu pushed the door open, he was surrounded by his close friends. They ushered him to the center booth.
“Brother Liang, you’ve finally shown your face.”
“We thought you weren’t coming back!”
“What’s so great about being abroad? You stayed away for so many years!”
“You only return once you’re engaged. You must have enjoyed yourself traveling with our little sister-in-law these past few years,” Qin Yu shouted, raising his glass. “Leaving us poor bachelors all behind!”
Xue Shao gave him a playful shove. “Watch your mouth, will you?” He then turned to Liang Yanxiu. “But seriously, Brother Liang, I’ve got to call you out. That wasn’t very cool of you. You kept her hidden for four years during university, and even after graduation, you wouldn’t let us meet her. It’s been eight damn years. Are we going to have to wait for our little nephew to be born before we finally get to see her?”
Liang Yanxiu froze, his lips thinning. “Eight years?”
The lively atmosphere vanished instantly. Everyone went silent.
Qin Yu’s expression stiffened as he realized he’d had a bit too much to drink and let something slip. He turned a desperate look toward Zhao Mu, seeking help.
Zhao Mu chuckled nervously and raised his glass. “Brother Liang, these two are wasted. They’re talking nonsense. They need a penalty drink! Hurry up!”
Qin Yu and Xue Shao downed three glasses in one go before Zhao Mu squeezed them aside.
“I heard from my grandfather that you’ll be staying in the country for a while this time, Brother Liang?”
“Yeah,” Liang Yanxiu nodded, shifting the conversation toward business.
As the topic changed, the tension eventually faded. By the time the gathering broke up, it was already the early hours of the morning.
Standing at the entrance of the club, Liang Yanxiu lit a cigarette. He pulled out his phone and dialed Qin Yu’s number.
Qin Yu was still drunk, his speech rambling and incoherent.
Liang Yanxiu got straight to the point. “That ‘little sister-in-law’ you mentioned earlier, the one from eight years ago, what did you mean by 그?”
“Huh?” Qin Yu sighed. “Oh, man, I don’t remember clearly. It was just before your accident. You mentioned to us that you had a boyfriend you’d been dating for a long time. You said the relationship was great. We even made a pact back then, saying that once he graduated, you’d bring him out so we could all meet. Brother Liang, don’t you remember? We had even set a time and booked a place, but then your accident happened. When you woke up, you had forgotten a lot of things, and you never brought him up again. I noticed he never showed up while you were in the hospital, either. We just assumed you two had broken up. Since you didn’t say anything, we didn’t dare ask. Besides, your grandfather was incredibly strict while you were hospitalized. I sent you messages, but you never replied. Later, I heard from my dad that you went abroad. Oh, by the way, do you not use your old phone number anymore?”
The driver pulled up. Liang Yanxiu extinguished his cigarette with one hand and got into the car. “Yeah.”
“No wonder I couldn’t get a hold of you for those few years. Zhao Mu was the one who eventually gave me your new contact info.”
After hanging up, Liang Yanxiu pinched the bridge of his nose.
The driver glanced at him through the rearview mirror. “Boss, where are we heading?”
“To Dr. Chen’s.”
The driver started to say something but hesitated. Finally, he turned the steering wheel and headed toward the destination.
