Fighting For My Wife With Myself After Being Reborn - Chapter 14
The body temperature remained high, like a licking flame; no one could say for sure who had lit this fire. Amidst the heatwaves, “Shen Huaixu” heard the sobbing, murmuring spring rain pitter-pattering endlessly. The clear, translucent rainwater gathered into puddles, taking the entirety of spring into its body, locking spring away.
Belatedly, “Shen Huaixu” realized Gu Yinghuai was crying.
Her mental state was actually quite poor; the persistent low-grade fever continuously attacked her fragile nerves, frantically warning her that she must fall asleep as soon as possible.
But “Shen Huaixu” was unwilling to let this rare opportunity slip away. If she missed today, who knew when she would next appear while Gu Yinghuai was still awake.
She lowered her head and kissed away the tears at the corners of Gu Yinghuai’s eyes—they were sweet.
The tears were not from sorrowful weeping; her tears were sweet, her cries were syrupy, and even the breath she exhaled while trembling was inevitably tinged with a sugary scent.
The person in her arms was shivering. “Shen Huaixu” knew deep down that they couldn’t stay in the bathroom any longer; both her body and Gu Yinghuai’s desperately wanted to lie in a warm nest and sleep foot-to-foot with a lover.
Unfortunately, “Shen Huaixu” had no intention of sleeping just yet.
She picked up Gu Yinghuai and moved from the bathroom to the bedroom. The bedsheets, changed only the day before, were dampened by the water droplets they hadn’t time to wipe off, creating a large, dark stain.
Neither could care much. As naked skin first touched the soft, smooth sheets, kisses fell like fine rain—gentle and lingering.
The heavy rain arrived as scheduled, turning the grass into mud.
Spring thunder echoed in their ears, but if one listened closely, it was actually the sound of their heartbeats, pounding as if to burst through their chests.
Teeth were craving and in urgent need of biting something to soothe the itch.
“Shen Huaixu” followed her inner impulses. She pinned Gu Yinghuai’s wrists with both hands, interlacing her fingers with Gu’s long, soft ones, confining her beneath her. Then, she lowered her head and bit down on Gu Yinghuai’s lean, slightly bony collarbone.
She wanted to engage in further deep intimacy with Gu Yinghuai, but a sudden headache and dizziness interrupted her movements.
“Shen Huaixu” was exceptionally familiar with this feeling; whenever the fellow sleeping inside her was about to wake up, or when the body reached its limit, she would be pulled into endless darkness by this bout of vertigo.
Damn it. “Shen Huaixu” cursed softly at the poor timing. Right now, she wasn’t satisfied at all; in fact, she was just getting into the spirit of things, ready to show off her skills and reacquaint herself with her lover’s body.
After all, she hadn’t been intimate with Gu Yinghuai for a long time, right? What if, during these years of absence, her lover had developed new sensitive spots or other preferences she didn’t know about?
In her irritation, she clearly forgot that she was the one from the future; if there were new preferences, they should have been hers.
She cursed again, calling the other self a blind bastard who couldn’t read the room, always interrupting her at the height of excitement.
The pain persisted. “Shen Huaixu” clutched her throbbing forehead. Her lover, who had stopped receiving affection, opened a pair of confused, hazy, watery eyes and looked at her, seemingly asking in silence why she had suddenly stopped.
“Sorry, let’s continue.” Ignoring the headache, “Shen Huaixu” forcibly suppressed the stirring Shen Huaixu in her mind and pulled Gu Yinghuai toward the next round of pleasure.
Finally, exhausted and drenched in sweat, the two fell asleep in each other’s arms on the damp sheets.
Before falling into a deep sleep, “Shen Huaixu” used the last bit of her strength to leave a bite mark on Gu Yinghuai’s shoulder that wasn’t too obvious.
Then, the endless darkness swallowed her.
Her head hurt. Her body was exhausted. Her back also hurt, a burning sensation as if someone had scratched several lines into it with their fingernails.
Was having a fever always this miserable? The person who rarely fell ill lay on the bed letting out a weak groan, tormented by the omnipresent pain and the temperature that hadn’t quite faded from her body.
She furrowed her brows, panting slightly; her whole body was sticky with the sweat produced while the fever broke.
Having survived the initial weakness with difficulty, Shen Huaixu worked hard to calm her hurried breathing and reclaim her long-lost thoughts.
A thought flashed through her blank mind.
Wait, wait. Shen Huaixu suddenly remembered something very important.
She snapped her eyes open, her silver-grey pupils constricting suddenly before returning to normal.
What time was it? Where was her Huai? Was she still at the party, or—
All sorts of chaotic thoughts swarmed her. Her already uncomfortable forehead felt even more swollen and painful. She tried to move her arm, wanting to prop herself up to look for her Huai.
The weight on her arm promptly stopped her. She reacted slowly: Oh, there was someone in her arms.
Shen Huaixu blinked. Under the dim light, Gu Yinghuai’s sleeping face was right before her eyes.
She was confused, even baffled.
Had she not woken up yet, or was she so severely ill that she was hallucinating? Otherwise, how could her Huai already be lying in her arms asleep?
Shen Huaixu thought in horror: Or did she oversleep and miss the time to pick Gu Yinghuai up?
If she really had overslept and failed to personally pick Gu Yinghuai up, Shen Huaixu didn’t dare imagine how sad Gu Yinghuai would be.
She reached out her hand to stroke Gu Yinghuai’s warm, sleeping cheek, only to realize with a shock that she was completely naked. The sheets beneath her were a bit damp and felt cold under the air conditioning.
Fortunately, a small blanket had been laid underneath them, so it wasn’t exceptionally cold.
What had happened? So many questions followed one after another. Shen Huaixu realized with a headache that her memory of tonight was completely blurred.
She tentatively lifted a corner of the quilt, her fingertips touching Gu Yinghuai’s similarly naked body.
Shen Huaixu’s heart skipped a beat for some reason. She quickly pulled the quilt further back; in the faint light, she saw marks of various sizes and depths scattered all over her girlfriend’s body.
There were hickeys, and there were bite marks.
On her favorite collarbone, on the neck… wait, was there one on the chest too…?
Shen Huaixu lifted the quilt even more to let the dim light shine in.
Then she saw another bite mark on Gu Yinghuai’s waist.
No way…
Shen Huaixu slowly lowered the quilt. She was worried Gu Yinghuai would catch a cold from the AC, and she was also worried that if she kept looking, she wouldn’t be able to resist slapping herself.
Was she such a beastly person after catching a fever?
It was as if she had become a different person.
Even at her wildest age, she had never bullied her Huai this badly. With one fever, she had turned bad—and what was worse was that she didn’t even remember the process of last night.
Shen Huaixu had absolutely no memory after taking the fever medicine and falling asleep.
She felt a bit of regret, feeling as if she had missed out on something huge.
The headache struck her again.
Shen Huaixu covered her face in sorrow. She was only twenty-eight—no, maybe twenty-nine? Whatever, in any case, she should be in her prime; how could she be suffering from both memory loss and being struck down by a fever? It was simply bizarre.
Tomorrow, she would give her Huai a proper apology. No matter how she looked at it, things had really gone a bit too far tonight.
She tenderly kissed Gu Yinghuai’s forehead and whispered, “Goodnight.”
A night without dreams.
The next morning, the moment the alarm clock rang on time, Shen Huaixu struggled to reach her hand out from the covers and turn off the ringing alarm.
It hurt.
Dammit, she suspected her head was about to explode.
Shen Huaixu rubbed her throbbing temples to alleviate the headache caused by illness and lack of sleep.
She immediately turned to look for Gu Yinghuai—her sedative, her painkiller.
Gu Yinghuai, who had been tossed around all night, was still sleeping. She was curled on her side in Shen Huaixu’s embrace, her breathing long and steady, her pink lips pouting slightly, looking exceptionally childish.
The headache that had plagued Shen Huaixu all night vanished instantly.
She looked at Gu Yinghuai’s sleeping face with fascination, unable to resist kissing those pouting lips, tracing the shape of her mouth, prying open the closed pearly teeth to taste the softness within.
The person in the dream let out a light gasp and furrowed her brows, wanting to dodge the lips disturbing her clear dream. However, the familiar scent enticed her to press closer involuntarily, lingering in the kiss.
Their breathing grew heavy. After replenishing her energy, Shen Huaixu let go of the poor little thing in her arms. She gently pulled away her arm, which was a bit numb from being pressed upon, and carefully lifted the quilt to leave the bed.
Her unclothed body trembled twice when exposed to the cold AC air. Shen Huaixu rubbed her arms, stepped onto the slightly damp carpet, grabbed a bathrobe from the sofa at random, and walked into the bathroom.
The overused bathroom was a complete mess. Their clothes were tossed everywhere.
On the floor, on the toilet lid… Shen Huaixu even spotted a piece of Gu Yinghuai’s undergarment hanging on the shower handle.
The bathtub at the back was full of water. It was obvious that last night she had been so impatient she didn’t even have time to drain the water before carrying Gu Yinghuai back to the bedroom.
No wonder the bed and carpet were damp. Shen Huaixu complained to herself about her beastly behavior last night while picking up the clothes from the floor.
The discarded clothes were properly thrown into the laundry basket, the bathtub water was drained, and the residual puddles on the floor were swept away bit by bit by Shen Huaixu with a mop.
The entire bathroom was refreshed.
Shen Huaixu wiped the sweat from her forehead. After just a bit of labor, she was actually somewhat out of breath.
Maybe, when she got back from her vacation, she should have Jiang Rui help her get a gym membership. Shen Huaixu brushed her teeth, muttering in her heart; in any case, she knew she couldn’t be defeated by age. She still had to provide her Huai with sexual happiness…!
When Shen Huaixu walked out of the bathroom, Gu Yinghuai was still sleeping in bed. Lacking her embrace, Gu Yinghuai had rolled herself into a “spring roll” with the quilt.
How cute. Shen Huaixu walked to the edge of the bed, kissed the Gu Yinghuai-flavored spring roll, and left the bedroom carrying the laundry basket.
Today was Saturday. Gu Yinghuai’s vacation had started at midnight last night. Shen Huaixu had also asked Jiang Rui for the morning off after confirming she had a fever, applying to go to work in the afternoon instead.
Since it was rare for both of them not to work in the morning, they had plenty of time to spend. Shen Huaixu decided to make a sumptuous breakfast to reward herself and her Huai.
A delicious aroma gradually wafted from the open kitchen. The “spring roll” sleeping in the bedroom was awakened by the scent; a stomach that had been hungry all night roared for food.
She slowly opened her eyes. Drowsiness made her yawn, and her charming apricot eyes gathered a layer of tears, making them look watery.
Her body, which had been put through the wringer for an entire night, was very sore. Gu Yinghuai reached out to touch her neck; there were bite marks left by a certain idiot. After a night, only a few shallow, uneven marks remained.
Honestly, it was a good thing she didn’t have to work today, or she would have to wear high-collared clothes in the summer. Gu Yinghuai pouted; she didn’t like high-collared clothes much; the sense of restriction was too strong.
Outside the window, the sun was bright. Dark floral curtains blocked most of the sunlight, leaving only a small portion to penetrate the fabric, providing light for the bedroom.
Gu Yinghuai turned to look at the alarm clock on the nightstand; it wasn’t even nine o’clock yet. She lifted the quilt, wanting to get out of bed to wash up, but as soon as she applied force, a stinging pain came from her left waist.
She looked down and saw her waist had also been bitten. Judging by the marks, this bite was even harder than the one on her neck; a faint trace of blood could almost be seen.
Is she a dog? Gu Yinghuai couldn’t help but want to rush out and ask the person cooking in the kitchen what kind of provocation she had received last night to bite and lick her like that.
Surely it wasn’t because she had done something strange or said something weird after getting drunk that provoked her childish and vengeful lover into tossing her around like this?
But, last night was indeed quite pleasant.
Gu Yinghuai recalled the almost overwhelming pleasure and Shen Huaixu’s sexy expressions from last night, and her face turned red quietly.
No, no, I can’t think about this anymore! Gu Yinghuai patted her burning cheeks. She could feel that the places that had been “loved” for a whole night were faintly beginning to feel something again.
I’m such a pervert, getting a reaction just from thinking about it.
Gu Yinghuai sighed deeply, then dragged her sore and weak body into the bathroom to wash up.
The bathroom looked like it had been cleaned. The things played with in a mess last night were back in their places, and the bathtub had been well-cleaned.
Looking at the bathtub, Gu Yinghuai inevitably thought of what happened in the bathroom last night. She blushed as she squeezed toothpaste, muttering softly that this was really too unseemly.
The dining table was almost covered with plates of food. On the clean and tidy stove, a pot of seafood porridge was kept warm.
At this moment, the “chef” wearing an apron was at the sink washing the used kitchenware.
“Good morning. Did something good happen today? Breakfast is so sumptuous.” After washing up, Gu Yinghuai had changed into loungewear. The loose collar hung limply, revealing her badly bitten shoulder and neck, with the bright tooth marks on her collarbone also faintly visible.
She looked both tragic and enough to provoke one’s animal instincts.
Shen Huaixu, the “culprit” who wasn’t technically the culprit, guiltily shifted her gaze away.
The more she looked, the more she felt she really wasn’t a decent person last night…
The biting was too harsh…
She shook the water droplets off her hands and, with lightning speed and full vigor, apologized to Gu Yinghuai.
“I’m sorry! I went a bit too far last night!” Shen Huaixu continued under Gu Yinghuai’s surprised gaze: “I’m very sorry. I shouldn’t have lost control. It won’t happen again, I promise.”
“Pfft.” Gu Yinghuai clutched her stomach and laughed. “Hahaha, Axu, you should see the expression on your face in a mirror right now, hahaha.”
She smiled and wiped away the tears from laughing. “Heavens, I thought something had happened. So, this table of food is compensation for last night?”
Shen Huaixu felt a rare moment of embarrassment; a thin layer of pink rose on her fair skin. She nodded and served a bowl of seafood porridge on the dining table. “You worked hard all night, you need to eat more.” She murmured: “I need to replenish myself too…”
“Ah, our Axu worked hard to get up so early to cook.” Gu Yinghuai walked over, cupped Shen Huaixu’s face, and kissed her. “I like it very much, thank you.”
Shen Huaixu was left floating from the kiss.
