- Fighting For My Wife With Myself After Being Reborn
- Chapter 15 - A Simple Application of Ointment
Breakfast was undeniably delicious, but finishing a whole table of dishes proved too difficult for just two people. By the time the clock in the living room pointed to ten, less than half of the food on the table had been consumed.
“This is crazy. I almost thought I was going to be killed by breakfast.” Her roaring stomach had been silenced by the delicious food; Gu Yinghuai slumped unceremoniously in her chair, patting her full belly with a look of satiated satisfaction.
Shen Huaixu was also stuffed. Because of her work, she rarely allowed herself to indulge. She needed to maintain a physique more athletic and limbs more slender than the average person, a point over which Gu Yinghuai often lost her temper.
However, since this was Shen Huaixu’s job, Gu Yinghuai could only take advantage of “indulgence days” to take her out for big meals—usually involving beef.
“Was breakfast good?” Shen Huaixu asked, knowing the answer.
“It was delicious. I love Axu’s cooking the most,” Gu Yinghuai beamed, offering her praise without hesitation.
No one dislikes a compliment. Shen Huaixu was pleased by the undisguised admiration, her lips curving upward into a slightly smug expression—a look she rarely showed.
Gu Yinghuai noticed it, covering her mouth to giggle, thinking her girlfriend was over-the-top adorable.
After resting for a moment, Shen Huaixu stood up to clear the table. Gu Yinghuai tried to help, but before she could stand, Shen Huaixu pressed a hand on her shoulder and kissed her forehead. “Sit tight. I’ll come back to help you apply the medicine after I finish cleaning up.”
“I want to help too,” Gu Yinghuai wheedled.
“No deal. Today is ‘No Housework Day,’ did you forget?” Shen Huaixu pointed to the calendar on the wall, where a large “prohibited” symbol was drawn over today’s date.
“Ah, why like this—” Seeing the symbol, Gu Yinghuai slumped onto the only clean spot on the table. “If I had known, I wouldn’t have picked today.”
“No Housework Day” was a rest day the two had come up with together. Each person had the right to one day a month where they did no chores. Shen Huaixu usually took hers in the middle of the month, while Gu Yinghuai liked to pick a random day at the beginning. Today was Gu Yinghuai’s choice, which meant she didn’t have to lift a finger.
“Regret won’t help now,” Shen Huaixu said briskly as she cleared the table. She carefully wrapped the untouched dishes in plastic wrap and put them in the fridge, planning to heat them up for lunch.
Gu Yinghuai puffed out her cheeks, glaring at Shen Huaixu.
Ignoring the minor display of anger, Shen Huaixu flicked her forehead with a finger. “Go sit on the sofa and wait for me. I’ll be done in a second.”
The angry hamster clutched her forehead and pouted as she walked away. Shen Huaixu chuckled and sped up her dishwashing.
Five minutes later.
The living room television was playing a variety show Gu Yinghuai had missed the night before due to a party. She sat cross-legged on the sofa, occasionally bursting into crisp, pleasant laughter at the MCs’ exaggerated expressions or the funny plot points.
“Alright, let’s start with the medicine.” Shen Huaixu sat beside Gu Yinghuai with one leg bent. She opened the medical kit, rummaging for the necessary ointment, as well as potential Band-Aids or bandages.
“Hmm? It’s not so serious that I need bandages, is it?” Gu Yinghuai paused the show, feeling Shen Huaixu was making a mountain out of a molehill when she saw the gauze.
Aside from the bite on her left waist, which stung a bit from bleeding, the other marks didn’t feel very prominent. “Just some ointment should be fine,” Gu Yinghuai argued.
“Not at all.” Shen Huaixu checked the expiration date and instructions on the ointment, twisting the cap. A fresh scent of grass and faint fruit wafted out. “Some spots bled; they must be treated.”
Gu Yinghuai pouted. “Fine, though I think it’s no big deal. Besides, if it was really a problem, you shouldn’t have bitten so hard last night.” Her reproachful eyes darted toward Shen Huaixu like little knives.
Shen Huaixu pretended to be very busy, hunting for iodine and cotton swabs, refusing to meet Gu Yinghuai’s eyes.
“Sit properly,” she said. “I’ll handle the wound on your waist first; it’s the most serious.”
Gu Yinghuai made a face at her but obediently sat up straight.
“Lift your shirt.” The way Shen Huaixu said this was incredibly sexy. The person being commanded recalled that last night, Shen Huaixu had used that same serious tone to command her to lift her hips a bit higher.
Gu Yinghuai murmured, her face flushing as she lifted the hem of her loungewear, revealing the bite wound. Her jade-like waist was covered in blue and purple marks—bruises caused by Shen Huaixu losing control the night before. The bite marks had formed a thin scab after a night’s rest, but the broken capillaries beneath the snowy skin were still visible.
For some reason, Shen Huaixu was annoyed by these possessive marks. It was strange, wasn’t it? They were clearly left by her, yet she felt a subtle sense of being provoked by them. It made no sense.
Unable to find a reason, Shen Huaixu clicked her tongue impatiently and cursed softly under her breath, so quietly that Gu Yinghuai couldn’t hear.
“I’m sorry,” Shen Huaixu exhaled, apologizing solemnly once more for her “crimes” of the previous night.
“Please, don’t be like that.” Gu Yinghuai poked her bent knee. “If I didn’t like it, I would have refused last night.”
Gu Yinghuai didn’t see herself as fragile. These marks were just a part of the fun in bed—a bit of a hobby or a product of foolish, cute possessiveness. She didn’t mind the occasional BDSM-style encounter as a spice of life. Just as she occasionally wanted to leave a hickey on Shen Huaixu’s neck to show everyone that Shen Huaixu had been tamed by her! This wicked, immature, but super-cute person had been marked by her!
Gu Yinghuai really wanted to do that. Unfortunately, she could only lick her itching teeth and plant “little flowers” in places others couldn’t see.
Shen Huaixu understood, of course. She wanted to say she didn’t even remember if there had been a refusal, but she swallowed the words. She didn’t want to use that as an excuse to evade responsibility.
“Next time if I go too far, you must refuse me, okay?” Shen Huaixu opened a pack of cotton swabs, dipped one in iodine, and gently applied it. The moment the cold liquid touched Gu Yinghuai’s waist, Shen Huaixu felt the slender, soft waist quiver, though it returned to normal quickly.
“Sometimes I can be a real jerk.” After the iodine, Shen Huaixu dabbed a bit of the grass-scented ointment onto her finger and carefully applied it. This time, Gu Yinghuai’s waist only twitched slightly.
“I know.” Gu Yinghuai’s eyes were tender. Looking at the person hunched over to apply her medicine, she could clearly see the heartache for her reflected in Shen Huaixu’s half-lidded eyes. She could also see that the tightly pursed lips were a sign of disapproval of the scars.
“But it felt so good, I didn’t really want to refuse.” With the most innocent expression, Gu Yinghuai said words that made Shen Huaixu’s blood boil.
Shen Huaixu’s hand slipped, accidentally smearing a large glob of ointment onto Gu Yinghuai’s waist.
“Don’t provoke me. You don’t have much ‘good skin’ left for me to bite,” Shen Huaixu looked up, trying to use her eyes to threaten her into being good. Gu Yinghuai just giggled, not taking the threat seriously at all.
She leaned in and pecked Shen Huaixu on the forehead, urging her: “Hurry up, my arms are getting tired holding my shirt up.” She waved her right hand for emphasis, putting on a “my wrist is so sore” face.
Having a clingy, flirtatious lover is truly a sweet burden, Shen Huaixu sighed. With a smile she didn’t even notice, she continued applying the medicine.
The wounds on the waist, collarbone, and shoulders were quickly handled. Now, Shen Huaixu faced a major problem—
“Lift your shirt a bit higher.” The last bite mark was in an awkward position that easily triggered certain thoughts. No, it wasn’t just “easily”—it was inevitable!
Shen Huaixu swallowed hard, watching Gu Yinghuai blush as she pulled the fabric up to just below her collarbones. She wasn’t wearing anything underneath her loungewear (no one wants to wear that at home!), so as soon as the clothes were lifted, her ravaged, tender skin was exposed. Consequently, Shen Huaixu’s face turned red too.
“It… it might hurt a bit. Bear with me, it’ll be over soon.” Even though she had seen it many times, kissed it, and bitten it, seeing her Huai blushing on the sofa in broad daylight, showing the places where she had been “loved,” made Shen Huaixu inexplicably shy.
The fair skin, the crimson marks, and the wicked teeth indentations were incredibly erotic. Shen Huaixu didn’t dare look too long, fearing she wouldn’t be able to resist licking them or saying something ridiculous like “using saliva to help disinfect.”
Gu Yinghuai was also uncomfortable. Taking off clothes in bed and lifting them on the sofa during the day were clearly two different things. They were just applying medicine, yet Gu Yinghuai felt the illusion that they were about to make love the next second. The ambiguous, suffocating atmosphere made her recall Shen Huaixu’s expression when she had left those marks on her chest last night.
The silver-gray pupils had darkened; a faint glistening moisture was visible on the tip of her perky nose—remnants from when Shen Huaixu had been playing “on the slide” earlier. She had loved her while looking up to observe Gu Yinghuai’s expression, like a beast observing its prey, waiting for the moment to capture it. Gu Yinghuai was that watched prey.
She quietly squeezed her thighs together and asked in a trembling voice, “Not done yet?”
Shen Huaixu sighed and put down the ointment. “We might need to change the way we apply this medicine.”
“Eh?” In the moment of Gu Yinghuai’s shock, Shen Huaixu grabbed both of her wrists with one hand, pinned them above her head, and pressed her body down.
“Yinghuai, you’ve been looking at me with those ‘I want it’ eyes. I didn’t want to do this, but I can’t help myself.” The medical kit vibrated, the glass bottles inside clinking. The ointment and iodine were kicked aside, and unused cotton swabs scattered across the floor.
A rough tongue licked across the not-yet-healed wound, causing a sharp, tiny sting. Pale fingertips clenched suddenly, turning a faint shade of pink.
Shen Huaixu had been annoyed by those marks for a long time. They were her marks, weren’t they? Yet deep down, a sense of jealousy and frustration bubbled up, making her want to overwrite them and leave new imprints. She kissed and sucked, gentle yet lingering, while her grip on Gu Yinghuai’s wrists was indisputable, refusing to let her struggle even an inch.
On the sofa, Shen Huaixu used “other methods” to re-disinfect the wounds for Gu Yinghuai.
“I’m hungry.” After the nonsense ended, Gu Yinghuai lifted a weak, limp leg and kicked Shen Huaixu.
Shen Huaixu helped her dress, cleaned the sticky mess off her, and kissed her several more times before getting up to go to the kitchen to heat up the leftovers from breakfast.
“I’m going to work.” “Drive safely.”
After lunch, Shen Huaixu didn’t have time to rest before rushing out to work. Jiang Rui had been waiting at the company for a long time. As soon as Shen Huaixu arrived, Jiang Rui made her switch cars, and they set off.
Covers, advertisements, clothing modeling. After finishing today’s scheduled tasks, there was a new shooting mission the next day.
Sweet Heartbeat had already reached its second episode. Jiang Rui had only signed a two-episode contract with the production team. Once today’s recording was finished, Shen Huaixu would be free from the dating show studio.
When Chi Xiaoxiao saw Shen Huaixu arrive, she took the initiative to greet her.
“Hi, long time no see! After this episode is finished, who knows when we’ll see each other again.” Chi Xiaoxiao actually liked Shen Huaixu quite a bit. Although Shen Huaixu didn’t talk much and had a strong sense of aloofness, she was simply too beautiful to dislike.
“Long time no see,” Shen Huaixu responded with a smile. “After the show airs, you can see me on TV all the time.”
Since the answer wasn’t quite what she meant, Chi Xiaoxiao felt a bit brushed off. “Let’s go. Yi Ni and Xiao Yu are waiting for us inside.”
Shen Huaixu nodded and followed her into the studio.
The recording went smoothly. When the staff announced the wrap, Shen Huaixu’s work for the day was officially over.
She was in a hurry to get home and pack. Ignoring the frequent eye-rolls from Jiang Rui, she put on a baseball cap and a mask and urged Jiang Rui to leave. Jiang Rui knew she was desperate for her vacation, so after a few brief pleasantries with the person in charge, she led her away to the car.
“I’m leaving first! Remember what I said: no one is to disturb me during my break!” As soon as they reached the company parking lot, Shen Huaixu left those words behind, opened the car door, headed straight for her SUV, and drove home.
Vacation, here I come—
Shen Huaixu hummed a song, fantasizing about the wonderful holiday ahead.
