- Fake Pregnancy? Oops, It’s Real — and So Is the Husband
- Chapter 86 - No Longer a Couple
The words hit Huo Chilin like a hammer to the head, leaving his ears ringing.
He froze in place, and then a storm of fury, the kind that comes with the sudden realization of being played engulfed him. Slowly, he turned to Bai Hansui, his voice grinding out between clenched teeth, “You weren’t pregnant?”
Bai Hansui’s face paled as she shook her head frantically. “No, don’t listen to his nonsense! How could I lie to you about something like this?”
Huo Chilin’s chest heaved violently.
No wonder Bai Hansui had suddenly told him she was pregnant some time ago. He distinctly remembered they had taken precautions during that period.
At the time, he thought he must have misremembered. But now it was clear, Bai Hansui had been lying to him from the start.
Seeing the ice in Huo Chilin’s gaze deepen, Bai Hansui grabbed his hand in desperation. “Chilin, we’re the ones in a relationship. Are you really going to trust an outsider over me?”
Pei Jingyan glanced lazily at his assistant, who immediately understood and handed over a document.
With an indifferent tone, Pei Jingyan said, “Perhaps Young Master Huo should take a look at this report first.”
Bai Hansui’s head snapped up at Pei Jingyan, as if realizing something. Her body trembled violently.
Huo Chilin took the report from Pei Jingyan. Bai Hansui’s name was printed at the top, and his eyes dropped to the results section, clear and concise: “No pregnancy.”
The date on the report was one he knew all too well, the day he had accompanied Bai Hansui to the hospital for her supposed prenatal checkup.
A surge of rage shot straight to Huo Chilin’s skull. He flung Bai Hansui’s hand away and threw the report in her face, roaring, “How much longer were you planning to keep lying to me?!”
The force sent Bai Hansui tumbling to the ground, and something fell out of her pocket.
As the camera zoomed in, the audience could clearly see, it was an empty blood bag.
The live chat exploded.
[Holy shit, she really staged this whole thing?!]
[Bai Hansui is next-level, lying about being pregnant?!]
[Is there a single truthful word out of her mouth? Can we just ban her from every platform already?!]
[Is this really a survival show? Feels more like a drama fest!]
[Honestly, this is way more entertaining than the actual challenges!]
Panic flashed across Bai Hansui’s face as she instinctively tried to hide the blood bag, but Huo Chilin snatched it from her in the next second.
Staring at the blood bag in his hand, then at the “blood” between Bai Hansui’s legs, Huo Chilin had no choice but to believe the truth. The way he looked at her now was as if she were trash on the side of the road.
Bai Hansui seemed to have all the strength drained from her body, collapsing limply to the ground, unable to speak.
She never imagined that not only would her attempt to frame Shen Lai fail, but her fake pregnancy would also be exposed.
The hashtag #BaiHansuiFakePregnancy rocketed to the top of trending searches in less than five minutes. The livestream’s viewership hit a new peak, even passing dogs stopped to take a look.
Pei Jingyan idly adjusted his wristwatch. “Now that Miss Bai’s account has been settled, isn’t it time for me to settle mine?”
Huo Chilin frowned at him. “What account?”
Pei Jingyan’s gaze landed on Bai Hansui, and he smiled faintly. “The account of her drugging the raspberries and sending Shen Lai to the hospital, of course.”
At those words, Bai Hansui’s head jerked up, her breathing turning ragged.
[??? What’s going on now? Could it be that Shen Lai’s previous hospitalization was also related to Bai Hansui?]
[Judging from President Pei’s words, it definitely has something to do with Bai Hansui.]
[Damn, don’t tell me… hasn’t Bai Hansui done enough harm? Now she’s even targeting a child?!]
[Enough, all of you! I’ve been following this drama instead of working, do you even want me to clock out today?]
[Screw it, I’m taking a bite of this juicy gossip first. Work can go to hell!]
Bai Hansui’s voice trembled, “W-what are you talking about? I don’t understand at all.”
Huo Chilin frowned. He was aware of Bai Hansui’s actions against Shen Lai. In the past, for the sake of the child in her womb, he would have undoubtedly stood up for her. But now that he knew Bai Hansui had been deceiving him from the start, he remained silent, watching coldly.
Pei Jingyan said calmly, “After Shen Lai was hospitalized that day, the doctors informed us that trace amounts of toxins were detected in her system.”
Bai Hansui’s heart clenched violently.
Someone in the crowd spoke up, “But wasn’t it said back then that Shen Lai just had a stomachache?”
Pei Jingyan’s lips curved slightly as he turned to the speaker. “If we’d outright said it was poisoning, how would we have gathered evidence?”
[Damn, President Pei is too sharp! If it were me, I would’ve retaliated on the spot!]
[He’s a businessman, of course he’s got tricks up his sleeve.]
[Exactly. Bai Hansui trying to outsmart President Pei is like an egg smashing against a rock.]
[So, this means President Pei has proof, right?]
Sure enough, the next second, Pei Jingyan pulled a report from his pocket. “This is a full toxicology screening I had the production team conduct for everyone on the day Shen Lai was poisoned.”
The crowd exchanged glances, finally realizing why the production team had suddenly ordered such tests, it had been Pei Jingyan’s doing.
He walked up to Bai Hansui and tossed the report at her feet. “Out of everyone’s results, only yours, Miss Bai, showed traces of cyanide on your fingers.”
As the report fluttered to the ground, all color drained from Bai Hansui’s face.
[No wonder Bai Hansui claimed she had a stomachache that day and made Shen Lai taste the food, she’d already drugged the props!]
[I wondered back then why Bai Hansui didn’t eat it herself. Turns out she was setting Shen Lai up (smirk).]
[This is straight-up attempted murder, isn’t it? If Shen Lai hadn’t felt unwell and stopped eating, she might’ve lost the baby.]
[How dare Bai Hansui accuse Shen Lai of harming her child earlier? She didn’t even spare the baby in Shen Lai’s womb, what a venomous woman!]
No sooner had the words been spoken than two uniformed officers approached Bai Hansui, flashing their badges. “Miss Bai, you’re suspected of intentional harm. Please come with us for questioning.”
As the officers moved to handcuff her, Bai Hansui panicked completely. She shook her head violently. “I didn’t do it! They’re framing me!”
In desperation, she clung to Huo Chilin’s leg, her eyes red and voice trembling. “Chilin, save me! Aren’t I your girlfriend? You can’t just watch me get taken away!”
Huo Chilin expressionlessly pulled his leg free. “Starting today, we’re no longer in a relationship.”
Bai Hansui froze. “What did you say?”
Huo Chilin looked down at her with cold indifference in his eyes. “You should have expected this outcome the moment you started lying to me.”
The police stepped forward and pulled Bai Hansui up from the ground. She could tell Huo Chilin was trying to sever all ties with her, and as if provoked beyond endurance, she finally lost control. “If you hadn’t been so fickle, how could I have ended up like this?”
“I may not be a good person, but are you? someone who can’t decide between two lovers, any better?”
