- Exclusively Possessed By A Yandere Rich Girl
- Chapter 4 - More Exaggerated Than a Young Couple
Perhaps it was wishful thinking on Xu Fei’s part, but in that fleeting moment, she believed Zhu Nianxi had originally intended to hug her.
The Omega leaned forward, but her arms never quite rose; instead, she simply gripped Xu Fei’s hand tightly, keeping her confined by her side.
A flicker of sorrow passed through Zhu Nianxi’s eyes.
Xu Fei blurted out, “How could I possibly!”
The Omega’s peach-blossom eyes gradually filled with joy. Zhu Nianxi’s face was so exquisite it felt like a sin to look for too long.
Xu Fei turned her face away, her voice softening. “I never forgot you…”
Fearing Zhu Nianxi might overthink it, she added, “Back then, I originally wanted to see you one last time.”
“They came quite quickly. I recovered at home for half a year and returned to school in the ninth grade.”
When talking about herself, Zhu Nianxi’s expression was indifferent. Regarding the kidnapping case, the broken leg, and the subsequent recovery, she didn’t offer another word.
But when the topic shifted back to Xu Fei, her eyes suddenly lit up:
“Feifei, what about you? Have you been well?”
How long had it been since Xu Fei heard those words? She had almost forgotten what it felt like to have someone care.
“I’ve been quite well.”
As the sunlight slanted in, Xu Fei no longer hid herself in front of Zhu Nianxi. The girl’s smile was clean, and her tea-colored pupils reflected her sincerity. Her words came from the heart.
She was alive, she was in school, and Zhu Nianxi remembered her. Xu Fei felt truly good.
In a corner where a Beta could not smell, Zhu Nianxi’s pheromones were bordering on a loss of control. She looked at Xu Fei for a long time, from her eyes to her lips, finally resting on their intertwined fingers.
The past that Zhu Nianxi deemed not worth mentioning was something Xu Fei cared deeply about. Just as she was about to ask more, the medical curtain was pulled back from the outside.
“Class is over. If you want to stay longer, go get a hall pass from your teacher.”
The school doctor came over and crouched down to check Zhu Nianxi’s injury. The basketball hadn’t hit her that hard, but Zhu Nianxi had thin skin, the bruising would take a few days to clear. The doctor prescribed an ointment, and Xu Fei naturally reached out to take it.
The doctor raised an eyebrow. The young Beta was already half-carrying the Omega down from the hospital bed. The level of meticulous care was more exaggerated than many young couples the doctor had seen.
When Zhu Nianxi returned to class, many students flocked to her to express concern, asking if her leg injury was serious.
The Omega smiled, hiding the scar behind her calf socks once more. “It’s fine, the school doctor looked at it.”
“That shot was so bad!” “At least it didn’t hit your head.” “Xu Fei’s reactions are so fast! I just saw the ball flying over.”
The crowd discussed the event noisily until the bell rang for class to start. The English teacher walked in holding the entrance exam papers. Some subjects had already been graded, and she had marked the scores on the answer sheets.
“Compare this to your final exams last semester. It’s only been two months, did you give everything back to the teacher already?”
Xu Fei received her paper. 100 out of 150. It was average for the class. She had little time to study, and in other subjects, she struggled just to pass. Only in English did she excel, her mother had spent a fortune on tutors for her, and the family used to travel abroad occasionally. It was one of the few things they had left her.
“There are ten people with scores above 110 this time.”
The English teacher stopped mid-sentence, saw Zhu Nianxi, and suddenly broke into a smile. “Zhu Nianxi has the highest score in our class. Everyone should learn from her.”
Ni Zihao muttered from the back, “I’ve never seen Old Lin smile so happily.”
A piece of chalk flew through the air, hitting him square in the forehead. “If you scored a 145, I’d smile like this for you too!”
145 points! A “study god” was right among them.
The students of Class 7, not having seen much of the world, broke into applause. Xu Fei clapped along, casting an admiring gaze toward the front. So amazing.
Zhu Nianxi lowered her eyes, the smile in them deepening.
The afternoon classes were spent going over the test papers. After school, most students packed their bags to go home, while a few boarders went to the cafeteria before returning for evening self-study.
Li Qin (the teacher) came to the classroom. The boy who had hit Zhu Nianxi with the basketball followed behind her, looking anxious.
Xu Fei watched as Zhu Nianxi was led to the office. Tao Yaqian asked curiously, “Xu Fei, aren’t you working today?”
Usually, Xu Fei was the first to rush out, fearing she’d be late for her shifts.
“I took time off. I need to head home first.” Xu Fei checked the financial aid forms in her bag and zipped it up.
Meanwhile, in the office.
The boy bowed deeply. “I’m sorry! I didn’t do it on purpose!”
Li Qin looked at the girl standing before her, feeling the situation was tricky. When Zhu Nianxi transferred to Class 7, the principal had specifically talked to her. They discussed her leg and her father, President Zhu of Huantai. On this first day, Li Qin didn’t know the young lady’s temperament well and felt unsure. “Nianxi, what do you think?”
Zhu Nianxi smiled slightly. If she wanted to, she could appear very gentle and harmless. “It’s fine. Just be careful next time.”
Li Qin asked, “And regarding your grandmother?”
Zhu Nianxi was very understanding. “No need to tell her, she’s very busy.”
Li Qin breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness, she had worried she would have to report every little thing to President Zhu as the principal suggested. It was quite intimidating.
The boy looked up and saw Zhu Nianxi smiling. That smile dissipated some of the Omega’s natural aura of aloofness, making her seem approachable. He entertained a stray thought and added, “How about I accompany you to the hospital to get it checked out?”
Zhu Nianxi’s expression didn’t change a bit, but her voice turned cold. “I said, it’s fine.”
The boy felt a chill down his spine, and the pink bubbles of his fantasy vanished instantly. For some reason, his scalp felt numb.
Noticing Xu Fei passing by the door in her peripheral vision, Zhu Nianxi spoke up: “Teacher, I’ll be going now.”
Finding her old bicycle at the school gate, Xu Fei mounted it nimbly. Her destination was a residential area in the west of the city. When she entered the house, Xu Shaobin and his son were just about to leave.
Seeing Xu Fei enter, Xu Chaoqun acted as if he’d found a scapegoat, shouting: “Xu Fei is back! Make her go to the hospital! I don’t want to go!”
Xu Shaobin frowned. “What are you saying? Your mother just finished surgery, how can someone not go?”
Xu Fei remembered. Six months ago, Shang Hong was diagnosed with a bone cyst. The doctor suggested observation to see if surgery was necessary. It seemed the surgery had now been done.
Knowing she had to work later, Xu Fei took the financial aid form from her bag. “Uncle, I need a signature here…”
Before she could finish, Xu Shaobin suddenly raised his hand. “Can’t you see I’m busy? Always thinking about yourself! I’m in no mood to sign anything right now!”
Xu Chaoqun snickered behind his back. The form was knocked to the ground. Xu Fei silently picked it up and put it back in her bag. She was used to this kind of mistreatment.
On the way to the hospital, Xu Shaobin vented all his life’s frustrations onto Xu Fei. Beside him, Xu Chaoqun was glued to his phone playing games, his mouth never clean of insults.
Xu Fei said nothing, staring at the prosperous night view of the city through the car window. Returning to Yanjing, the city looked different to her now. It used to be her home. Now, she was an extra person.
Her dejection didn’t last long, as a certain building caught her full attention. The architecture consisted of two towers, North and South; it was highly designed and tall, standing out even among the many skyscrapers. At the top hung a sign. Huantai.
And Zhu Nianxi? Xu Fei couldn’t help but wonder. What is she doing?
Shang Hong’s surgery had finished in the morning, and she was now lying in the ward. Since her cyst was in her leg, it wasn’t severe, but the auntie in the next bed suggested she hire a caregiver.
“A one-on-one is 300, but a one to many is only 130. Hire one so the family can have it easier!”
Shang Hong hesitated, clearly pained by the cost.
Xu Chaoqun was only there to play games. Xu Fei glanced at his shoes. 1,300 yuan. He had over a dozen pairs like that, changing them every two days at school.
It was time for Shang Hong to take her painkillers. Her husband was out, so she called for her son. Xu Chaoqun heard her but didn’t budge from his chair. “I can’t pause this.”
As the anesthesia wore off, the pain at the incision site ground away like a dull knife. Shang Hong endured it. A second later, she heard the sound of pouring water.
Xu Fei brought the warm water, using her other hand to support Shang Hong’s back as she helped her take the painkiller. Shang Hong lay back down, her brow gradually smoothing out.
The auntie in the next bed looked over. “Is this your daughter? She’s good, much better than that son of yours.”
Xu Chaoqun lost his game and put his phone away. Hearing this, he sneered, “Better? Her parents are both dead; she’s just mooching off our family.”
“Xu Chaoqun!” Shang Hong scolded sharply. But because they were in front of a stranger, she didn’t say much else to him.
Xu Fei suppressed the urge to throw the cup at him, anxiously checking the time. It was almost 7:30 PM. Sister Mei would be short-staffed by now.
Xu Chaoqun clamored to go home. The auntie saw this and again urged Shang Hong to hire a caregiver. Daytime was fine as they could help out, but it would be unbearable at night with no one to watch over her.
Xu Shaobin and his son decided to leave then. Thinking they were going home to get overnight supplies, Xu Fei chased them out and took the form out in the hallway. She held out a pen. “Uncle, sign this.”
Xu Shaobin squinted at her. Just as his hand was about to touch the pen, he commanded, “Xu Fei, you don’t need to go back. Stay at the hospital to look after your aunt.”
“What?” Xu Fei’s eyes widened.
“Unwilling?” Xu Shaobin sneered, withdrawing his hand. “Your cousin is in the ninth grade, and I have to work. Who has the time? Or are you going to pay for it?”
Xu Fei gripped the form tightly. “My card… has always been with you…”
Besides the school’s poverty subsidy, Yanjing provided a monthly 1,500 yuan subsidy for orphans. Her grandmother used to keep the card, but when Xu Fei came to Yanjing for high school, her grandmother gave it to Xu Shaobin. For the past year, whenever Xu Fei mentioned the card, Xu Shaobin used the same rhetoric.
Sure enough, Xu Shaobin was enraged and pointed at Xu Fei, cursing. “You ungrateful white-eyed wolf! Everything you eat and use costs money! Fine, I’ll give you the card right now. In the future, when that old hag gets sick or crippled, don’t you dare come asking me for money! It’s better if she just dies!”
People were coming and going in the hallway. The curious or pitying gazes of passersby felt like they were swallowing Xu Fei whole. She understood. Unless she stayed to provide care, Xu Shaobin would not sign.
The form in her sight gradually blurred. Xu Fei heard herself say, “I understand.”
The people in the ward heard the commotion outside and fell silent. Even the auntie stopped talking, no one wanted to interfere in someone else’s family matters. Shang Hong lay on the bed with her eyes closed, silently condoning her husband’s behavior.
Xu Fei had always tried hard not to hate the world. Most of the time, it was easy enough to do. But in this moment, it was very, very hard.
Taking a deep breath, Xu Fei instructed the auntie, “I’m going outside to make a call. I’ll be back in a bit.”
The auntie, suddenly addressed, nodded blankly. “Go ahead, child.”
After Xu Fei left, the auntie’s gaze toward Shang Hong was no longer friendly. At the end of the hallway, another gaze followed Xu Fei’s back for a long time.
Reaching a deserted stairwell, Xu Fei reached out to wipe her eyes. Her fingers were wet with tears, making it hard to use her phone, so she wiped them dry on her thigh. After ensuring her voice sounded normal, she dialed Mei Qia’s number.
The usual jazz music from the bar played on the other end. Mei Qia’s voice was concerned. “Feifei, are you finished with your business?”
Xu Fei said lightly, “Not yet. Something came up at home. I might need to take a few more days off.”
Mei Qia caught the anomaly, and her voice became serious. “Xu Fei, what happened?”
Xu Fei had been working for her since the second half of her freshman year. Even if she didn’t say it, Mei Qia could guess that her situation was not optimistic.
“It’s nothing,” Xu Fei sniffled. “Sorry to cause you trouble.”
Mei Qia felt uneasy. Teenagers have strong self-esteem, so she didn’t push. Finally, she comforted her, “It’s no trouble. Take care of yourself.”
“Mhm,” Xu Fei responded.
Hanging up the phone, her body slid uncontrollably down the wall. Xu Fei buried her face in her arms, huddling into a ball in the darkness.
In a place she couldn’t smell, an Omega’s pheromones filled the stairwell. The proud white rose retracted its thorns, its petals gently stroking the Beta’s scent gland, trying to soothe the girl’s emotions.
Shang Hong had just finished surgery, and there were many reports to collect. Xu Fei hurriedly finished a quick dinner and went to the orthopedics department to get the results.
The hospital was too large. Worried she might get lost, Xu Fei went to the nurse’s station. “Hello, I’d like to ask…”
Just then, two people passed behind her. One was wearing a grey professional suit, and the other was in a Huai High School uniform. The moment they passed, Xu Fei caught a whiff of a captivating floral scent. Like a white rose covered in snow, noble and elegant.
“Zhu Nianxi?”
Xu Fei looked again to make sure she wasn’t mistaken.
Zhu Nianxi turned around, her expression equally surprised. “Feifei, why are you here?”
