Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 85
Ning Xi hadn’t even gotten the chance to drink much before Jiang Yuanxin was taken away by Lan Xia.
Yu Qingxue said, “Let’s bring Wang You and Wei Nian and head back together.”
Ning Xi agreed without hesitation.
Wang You and Wei Nian didn’t drink alcohol at all. Each of them had a glass of Sprite, happily chatting while eating.
As Yu Qingxue walked over, before she could speak, the cheerful Wang You stood up with a piece of sweet and sour pork and offered it to her. “Try this. I think it tastes amazing.”
Yu Qingxue took a bite and nodded. “It really is good.”
“Right? Have another one. I saved it just for you.” The two Omega girls were completely immersed in their own little world, forgetting about Ning Xi and Wei Nian who were still sitting nearby.
Ning Xi remained silent.
Wei Nian gently tugged Wang You’s sleeve and whispered in her ear, “You know Ning Xi still thinks you’re Qingxue’s ex, right? Are you sure being this affectionate is a good idea?”
Wang You suddenly realized and quickly turned her back to Ning Xi while signaling frantically to Yu Qingxue.
Yu Qingxue looked concerned. “Youyou, is something wrong with your eye?”
Wang You nearly lost it. How could she still be this clueless even without drinking?
She quickly explained, “No, my eyes are fine. It’s just… well, things are different now. I probably shouldn’t have fed you that bite just now.”
Yu Qingxue’s heart skipped a beat. She finally remembered—she had yet to explain everything to Ning Xi.
She had planned to confess a long time ago, but after Ning Xi’s sudden confession and the intense filming schedule, she never found the right moment.
It was clear that today, she had to tell the truth.
Back at the hotel, Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue sat across from each other on the couch, separated by the coffee table.
Yu Qingxue had no idea whether Ning Xi had figured everything out. She had intentionally left several clues, hoping Ning Xi would realize she had lied and, in uncovering the truth, come to understand her true feelings.
Even though Ning Xi had confessed and they were now together, that turning point had happened when her suppressant failed and Ning Xi marked her. Since then, Ning Xi had never once asked about the lie. There was still a chance she hadn’t uncovered the truth.
Yu Qingxue’s heart was racing. Her palms were slightly sweaty.
“I’m sorry, Ning Xi. I lied to you.” Her eyelashes trembled slightly from nerves. “Actually, I was never in a relationship with Wang You. Everything I said back then was part of a story I made up to get closer to you.”
Ning Xi stood up, walked over, and sat beside her. Seeing her fingers curled into fists, she took Yu Qingxue’s hand and sighed softly with a fond smile. “You were so confident when writing that story, even left clues on purpose for me to figure it out. Why are you scared now?”
Yu Qingxue looked up at her, eyes misty. “You found out early on?”
“You left so many obvious signs. How could I not see them? Do you really think I’m that clueless?”
Yu Qingxue shook her head quickly. “No, of course not. I just… the more I care, the more insecure I become. I wasn’t sure if you had figured it out.”
“Ning Xi, can I ask… what made you fall in love with me?” she asked quietly.
Ning Xi tilted her head. “What do you think?”
Yu Qingxue hesitated. “Maybe because you marked me and thought I was okay?”
Ning Xi let out a slow breath. “No. That makes it sound like I only care about your body. Do I seem that shallow?”
She gave her hand a little squeeze. “You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you? Of all the reasons you could have picked, you chose the most ridiculous one.”
Yu Qingxue saw she wasn’t angry and finally relaxed. She leaned on Ning Xi’s shoulder, voice sweet and soft. “Then tell me. I don’t live in your heart, how would I know why you fell in love with me?”
Ning Xi smiled. “You’ve been in my heart for a long time. I just didn’t realize it myself.”
“When did I move in?” Yu Qingxue blushed and looked up.
“I think it started when I realized you helped me with that post on the school forum.”
Yu Qingxue was surprised. “How did you know it was me?”
“I heard about the post from Wei Nian. She guessed it was you. Honestly, out of everyone I knew at the time, only you had the ability to find that much evidence and convince people of the truth.”
Ning Xi’s voice became serious. “Qingxue, in this world, you are the one person who has always felt real to me. If I’m going to fall in love with someone, it will always be you.”
Yu Qingxue’s heart thumped wildly. She lowered her head, shy but happy. “Me too. I’ve never dated anyone in my twenty-six years. Maybe I was just waiting for you to show up.”
Hearing that was like a spark. Ning Xi’s eyes lit up with joy. “Qingxue, will you marry me?”
Yu Qingxue had been waiting to hear those words. She answered without hesitation, “Yes.”
“You really mean it?” Ning Xi asked, delighted.
Yu Qingxue instinctively bit her lip but stopped herself, remembering Ning Xi had said her lips could only be bitten by her. She turned away, blushing. “If you ask again, I might change my mind.”
Ning Xi pulled her close, guiding her into her lap. Yu Qingxue had to wrap her arms around Ning Xi’s neck to keep her balance.
Ning Xi said seriously, “I may still be a student with nothing to my name, but I’ll work hard for you. Whatever you want in the future, I’ll make sure you have it.”
Yu Qingxue gave her a soft kiss and smiled. “Alright. I believe you.”
“When should we go get our marriage certificate?” Ning Xi asked eagerly.
Yu Qingxue replied gently, “There’s no rush. In this industry, our marriage status is public. You’ve only just started your career, and we can’t risk that right now.”
Ning Xi quickly reviewed what she knew and realized it was true. In this world, when a celebrity got married, it was automatically announced by the civil registry. There was no way to keep it private.
Seeing the disappointment in her eyes, Yu Qingxue took her hand and said, “I know how sincere your feelings are. Getting a marriage certificate is just a formality.”
For the first time, Ning Xi genuinely considered changing careers.
Acting might be what she excelled at, but it came with too many restrictions. She couldn’t even marry freely.
The day after the wrap party for Asking the Demon, Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue took a private jet back to Yu Qingxue’s home in Beihai City.
Just like in the real world, this one also demanded a solid education to get ahead.
Ning Xi had already missed a lot of classes. It was time for her to return to school and finish her studies.
Yu Qingxue said, “I’ll drive you back to school.”
On the way back to Beihua Academy, she held Ning Xi’s hand the entire time.
“I wish I could shrink myself and stay with you all the time,” Yu Qingxue said suddenly.
Ning Xi kissed the back of her hand and replied, “We’ll see each other again in less than a week. I live in a single room, so we can video chat any time.”
“Don’t feel down. Starting from the second semester of sophomore year, students at Beihua can apply to live off-campus. There’s just over a month left before winter break.”
Yu Qingxue hugged her tightly. “I don’t want to be apart from you, not even for a second.”
Ever since they confessed their love for each other, Yu Qingxue had become more and more open about showing her affection.
The driver pulled up directly in front of the female Alpha dorm building. Ning Xi kissed Yu Qingxue’s fingertips and said, “We’ll video chat tonight. If you miss me, come find me anytime, alright?”
Yu Qingxue responded with a pout, “There are still five hours until your six o’clock class ends.”
“Time will fly. Even if we can’t video call, we can still text each other.”
Yu Qingxue gave a half-hearted smile. “I’ll do my best to get used to it.”
The past two months, they had been together almost every moment. She had become addicted to Ning Xi’s presence, and this sudden separation was hard to accept.
“I just need to adjust,” she whispered to herself.
Ning Xi got out of the car and pulled her suitcase from the trunk. “I’m going now,” she said.
Yu Qingxue watched her with reluctant eyes, not blinking once.
Ning Xi had originally planned to walk away, but Yu Qingxue’s gaze tugged at her heart. She walked back to the car, bent down, and gave her a gentle kiss. “I’ll be thinking about you all the time.”
Yu Qingxue was addicted to Ning Xi, and Ning Xi was no different.
Ning Xi pushed her suitcase into the dormitory. Once in her room, the first thing she did was go to the balcony to see if the car was still downstairs.
It was gone.
She swallowed the slight disappointment in her chest and took out her phone to send a message.
Ning Xi: The dorm’s covered in dust since I haven’t lived here for a while. I’ll clean up first, then go to Professor Fang’s office to clear my leave.
Yu Qingxue: Alright.
Seeing her reply, Ning Xi set her phone down and went to the washroom to grab a cloth, broom, and mop to start cleaning.
After about half an hour, she finally finished tidying up the room.
She opened her suitcase to unpack. When she reached for her pajamas, her hand paused.
Yu Qingxue’s dark green silk camisole had somehow ended up in her suitcase. Ning Xi didn’t know when she had slipped it in.
A smile appeared in her dark eyes. She took the nightgown out and hung it neatly on a hanger.
By the time she finished organizing everything, it was two o’clock in the afternoon, just as the faculty were returning to work.
Ning Xi left the dormitory and headed for the political affairs building to meet her counselor.
On the way, some students heading to class recognized her and quickly snapped photos, uploading them to the campus forum.
In no time, news of Ning Xi’s return spread throughout Beihua Academy.
When she had suddenly left school earlier, no one knew why. Someone even started a thread on the campus forum titled, “Has Ning Xi come back today?” The original poster would update it daily, and students would check in regularly, keeping it alive to this day.
It wasn’t until the promo photos for Asking the Demon were released that everyone realized she had been filming a movie.
The thread title read:
[Has Ning Xi come back today? We’re still waiting for you.]
Post 12546: Ning Xi is back!
Post 12547: It’s really her! I can’t believe it!
Post 12548: I’ve waited so long. I’m crying so hard right now.
Ning Xi, who rarely paid attention to the forum, had no idea her return had stirred up such excitement.
She arrived at her counselor’s office and knocked gently on the door.
When she heard the familiar “Come in,” she smiled and stepped inside.
“Professor Fang… Qingxue? You’re still here?” Ning Xi’s smile turned into surprise.
“You two should be careful not to get seen,” said Fang Huailian, standing up to close the door and lock it. “Good thing the other teachers are all in a meeting. Otherwise, your relationship would’ve gone public on the spot.”
He grumbled to himself as he returned to his seat, only to find that Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue were already holding each other, clearly paying no attention to anything he said.
Fang Huailian blinked. He was really just there to provide the setting.
“I thought you would’ve gone home by now,” Ning Xi said with a smile.
Yu Qingxue looked up at her, eyes clear and gentle. “You said you were coming to clear your leave with Professor Fang. When I replied ‘Alright,’ what I really meant was that I’d wait for you.”
