Everyone Loves the Alpha, But He’s Not Interested [Transmigration] - Chapter 86
Ning Xi had a class at three thirty in the afternoon. She and Fang Huailian had spent quite a while together in his office. Eventually, Fang Huailian couldn’t take it anymore and kicked her out thirty minutes early.
“I just checked the campus forum,” he said. “Everyone already knows you’re back. Go to the lecture hall early and save a seat. Better than getting surrounded and stared at.”
What he said made sense.
Ning Xi gently squeezed Yu Qingxue’s hand. “Video call tonight.”
Yu Qingxue watched her leave with reluctance, then turned to Fang Huailian and stretched out her hand. “Old Fang, let me see your phone.”
Fang Huailian instinctively hid his phone, alert. “What do you want to see?”
Yu Qingxue lowered her long, thick eyelashes with clear displeasure. “I want to read that post you mentioned.”
Realizing what she meant, Fang Huailian raised his eyebrows. “Seriously? You’re jealous because Ning Xi is popular?”
Yu Qingxue replied seriously, “Ning Xi is so well liked. She is always surrounded by pretty little Omegas at school. I’m worried someone might try to steal her. I want to see what kind of rivals I’m dealing with. Hurry and give me your phone.”
Fang Huailian clicked his tongue and logged into the campus forum. He handed her the phone. “If you really don’t want to be apart from her, go film a variety show together. Or take her with you into the next film crew. Either way works.”
Yu Qingxue opened the post about Ning Xi and said, “I won’t be filming again. This time, I only stepped in because the original lead actress couldn’t join the crew. They couldn’t find anyone suitable, and I didn’t want the project to lose money, so I took the role myself.”
She scrolled quickly to the last page. “But speaking of variety shows, our company did invest in a dating show recently. Here, I’m done reading.”
Fang Huailian, already used to her fast reading speed, took the phone back. “Why don’t you take Ning Xi on that dating show? Let the whole country see you two in love. Once everyone knows she’s yours, no Omega will dare go after her.”
Yu Qingxue hesitated. “Ning Xi has a real gift for acting. I’m worried that going public with our relationship might hurt her future.”
Fang Huailian stared at her, clearly speechless. “Do you even realize who you are? Dating you would help her, not hurt her. Especially for someone like Ning Xi who has no fame and no major work yet. Going public could boost her to at least B list right away.”
“With fame comes resources. And you said it yourself, she has talent. With your name behind her, she can land a few lead roles, win some awards, and climb all the way to the top. Without you, even with her looks, she’d have to slowly work her way up from small roles. She might even run into dirty rules or jealous Alphas trying to trip her up.”
“You’ve had everything laid out for you since you were a child. Your family paved every road. Ning Xi is an orphan. With her beauty, do you really think entering the entertainment world would be easy? Even if you can’t picture it, you’ve seen how it goes in TV dramas.”
Yu Qingxue’s heart tightened at those words. She had never really thought about what might have happened to Ning Xi if she hadn’t been cast as the lead in “Asking the Devil.”
“As long as her acting is good enough, whether she’s single or not won’t matter much. The fans and fame you bring her will more than make up for it.”
Fang Huailian looked her in the eye. “Instead of sneaking around and constantly worrying about being caught by paparazzi, it’s better if you and Ning Xi join a dating show and make your relationship public in a natural way.”
Yu Qingxue said quickly, “I’m going to speed up the dating show’s production right now.”
After officially ending their leave, Ning Xi and Fang Huailian arrived at the lecture hall twenty minutes early to save seats.
The hallways were crowded with students. When they saw Ning Xi, they froze and forgot how to walk. They just stood there staring at her, only coming back to their senses after she entered the classroom.
There was no one in the classroom yet. Ning Xi chose a window seat and sat down.
She had missed over two months of classes and needed to catch up quickly.
Beihua University offered a thirty thousand yuan scholarship for high scores on the final exams. Ning Xi still owed Yu Qingxue nearly three hundred thousand yuan. She wasn’t going to miss any honest chance to make money.
Even though Yu Qingxue didn’t care about spending money on her, Ning Xi wanted their relationship to be equal. Less tension would mean a more stable and lasting love.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed twice on the desk. Thinking it was a message from Yu Qingxue, Ning Xi opened WeChat. But the message was from Qi Huaihuai, the original Ning Xi’s clingy and fake-sweet best friend.
To be fair, Qi Huaihuai had listened to her. Before filming began, Ning Xi had told her not to message during the shoot. Qi Huaihuai had really stayed silent the whole time.
Qi Huaihuai: Ning Xi, why didn’t you tell me you were back? Where are you now? I want to come find you.
Ning Xi: How did you know I was back?
Qi Huaihuai: The campus forum homepage is full of posts about you. Everyone at Beihua knows you’re back from filming. As your best friend, I had to find out from a post with your photo. Don’t you feel a little guilty?
Ning Xi: Sorry. I was busy unpacking after I got back and forgot to tell you.
Qi Huaihuai: Fine. I’ll be generous and let it go. Let’s have dinner tonight. So many things happened while you were away. Every time I wanted to tell you, I remembered you were working hard toward your dream, so I didn’t want to bother you.
Ning Xi: I’m busy tonight. Let’s do lunch tomorrow. I want to introduce someone to you.
Ning Xi could sense a faint romantic tone in Qi Huaihuai’s words. Since Qi Huaihuai had never confessed directly, Ning Xi couldn’t reject her. She decided to let her girlfriend Yu Qingxue handle it.
No matter how confident an Omega was, no one would dare try to steal a girlfriend from Yu Qingxue.
Qi Huaihuai: Is it someone you met while filming?
Ning Xi: Kind of. I have class now. I’ll message you tomorrow morning.
Qi Huaihuai: Okay.
Just after she dealt with Qi Huaihuai, another message arrived. This time, it was from Li Shuru.
Li Shuru: Ning Xi, I heard you’re back. I printed notes from the past two months for you. I’ll bring them to class later.
Ning Xi: Thank you. Didn’t you say your idol is Yu Qingxue? I’ll ask her for a signed photo to thank you. Is that okay?
Li Shuru: A signed photo? Really? I can actually have one? Thank you so much.
Ning Xi: I’ll give it to you tomorrow afternoon.
Ning Xi didn’t like owing people favors. To avoid any future complications, she always repaid kindness as soon as possible.
After replying to Li Shuru, she looked up and saw the classroom was full. Some students had no seats and had to stand with books in their hands. Almost everyone kept sneaking glances in her direction every few seconds.
Her deskmate was different from the rest. Even though they were sitting the closest, the student was holding a magnifying glass. Every time they turned to her, they lifted the magnifying glass and studied her face seriously.
There were still fifteen minutes before class started.
Ning Xi sat there speechless.
Her charm seemed even more powerful than the original version of herself. The original only attracted a few Omegas. But now, she had caught the attention of nearly the entire school.
She could only pretend not to notice.
Fifteen minutes later, Professor Zhang walked into the lecture hall just as the bell rang. By then, the room was already packed with students who clearly were not just there for the lecture itself.
He stepped up to the podium, put on his glasses, and looked up in surprise.
“Did the acting class get the schedule wrong? Why are there so many students here today?”
Professor Zhang’s lectures were usually considered dull, so many students often skipped his class. On a normal day, he would be lucky to see half the seats filled. But today, there were nearly twice as many people in the room.
The students instinctively turned to look at Ning Xi, and Professor Zhang followed their gaze. Ning Xi looked calm and composed, her expression gentle and relaxed.
Understanding the situation, Professor Zhang adjusted his glasses and smiled.
“This student must be special. She’s brought such a strong turnout. What’s your name?”
Before Ning Xi could answer, a student in front of her excitedly called out,
“Professor, her name is Ning Xi! She’s the Alpha who just finished filming a movie with Yu Qingxue!”
Professor Zhang looked genuinely surprised.
“Well, that’s impressive.”
Hearing the professor’s praise, the students in the room beamed with pride, as if the compliment had been given to them directly.
Ironically, Ning Xi, the one at the center of attention, remained the calmest.
Throughout the class, Professor Zhang repeatedly pointed out Ning Xi’s focused note-taking to encourage the others, especially those who kept sneaking glances at her. By the time the lecture ended, the students had been scolded so many times that they all rushed out of the classroom in fear of being called to the office for a private talk.
In the end, only Ning Xi and a few others who were reluctant to leave remained.
Professor Zhang packed up his materials and noticed Ning Xi still sitting there reading. When he walked over and saw her textbook filled with notes, he couldn’t help but praise her.
“Your attitude toward learning is excellent. If you ever have questions, feel free to come to my office.”
Ning Xi stood up quickly and said,
“Thank you, Professor.”
Satisfied, Professor Zhang left the classroom. Ning Xi finished her notes, packed her things, and got ready to leave.
Just then, Li Shuru walked over, holding a thick stack of printed notes. Three other Omegas who had stayed behind in the classroom widened their eyes in shock.
“What is she doing?”
“No way, Ning Xi, don’t talk to her!”
“Ning Xi belongs to all of us. How can she do this?”
The three Omegas stared at Li Shuru with frowns and jealousy, watching as she approached Ning Xi.
Li Shuru handed her the papers and said,
“Ning Xi, I printed my notes for you. No need to copy them yourself.”
Ning Xi took the notes with a small nod.
“Thank you. I’ll make sure to give you Yu Qingxue’s signed photo in class tomorrow.”
Li Shuru’s face turned red with excitement.
“Okay!”
Ning Xi placed the notes in her bag, nodded politely, and said,
“I’ll head out now.”
After she left, Li Shuru happily returned to her desk to pack her things. The three Omegas, unable to hold back, walked over and surrounded her.
“Hey, what did you just say to Ning Xi?”
“What did you give her?”
“I’m warning you, don’t have any wild thoughts about Ning Xi!”
Li Shuru looked up in surprise.
“Calm down. I swear, I don’t have any romantic thoughts about her.”
“Ning Xi missed class for two months, so I printed my notes for her. As a thank you, she said she would get me a signed photo of my idol, Yu Qingxue.”
The three Omegas looked at each other, still suspicious.
“The movie’s over. How could Ning Xi still be in touch with Yu Qingxue? Do you think getting a signed photo is that easy?”
Li Shuru covered her blushing face and said softly,
“I think it’s possible. Actually, I’ve become a fan of their pairing. If Ning Xi could give me a photo of the two of them together, I think I might faint from happiness.”
The three Omegas were speechless.
“Keep your unrealistic fantasies to yourself. Ning Xi and Yu Qingxue are from completely different worlds. There’s no way they could be together.”
That was the last thing they said before they left the classroom.
Because if Ning Xi really was with Yu Qingxue, they would not even have the chance to imagine being with Ning Xi themselves.
There was not a single Alpha in the world who could resist Yu Qingxue’s charm.
Ning Xi went to the cafeteria to get dinner, then took it back to her dorm room.
She changed into comfortable pajamas. It was exactly six o’clock.
Right on time, a video call invitation came from Yu Qingxue.
Ning Xi tapped the green answer button, and Yu Qingxue’s face appeared on the screen. Ning Xi couldn’t help but smile.
“Did you just finish eating?”
Yu Qingxue looked surprised.
“How did you know?”
Ning Xi pointed to her own lips.
“You’ve got ketchup on them.”
Yu Qingxue reached up and touched her lips. Her fingertips came away with a bit of red ketchup.
“You don’t need to rush when you eat,” Ning Xi said gently. “Even if you aren’t exactly on time at six—”
Her voice suddenly trailed off.
On the screen, Yu Qingxue slowly brought her ketchup-covered fingertip to her lips and lightly sucked it clean.
